At least, that's how the saying goes in OUR octane-fueled world. Of course, that list is a little unfair to tri-fives because, unlike death and taxes, old school Chevys are a lot of fun. And this award-winning drop-top, with its smooth LS1, paint shop-fresh restoration and thoroughly modern mechanicals, blends an array of custom, driver-friendly attributes into a fully sorted resto-mod that virtually anyone can enjoy! BODYWORK/TRIM Sure, DuPont ChromaPremier wasn't on the Chevy color chart back in 1956, but a slick coat of Super Black certainly looks the part on this awesome Bel Air. Thanks to their killer curves, these cars really lend themselves to modern 2-stage. And this classic's remarkable pigment works well with a tight, power top to freshen clean and timeless aesthetics. The car's bodywork, completed over seven years by Roger's Body Shop of Pearisburg, Virginia, presents great, with straight panels and even gaps framing doors that snap closed with precision. Finished in early 2014, that precision shows in a way that'll put most traditional pavement pounders to shame. Nothing has been chopped, channeled or frenched, which is always a smart choice on these cars. And, by allowing the car's mostly original body to speak for itself, the builders created a solid, no-gimmick classic that dazzles via merit and execution. Despite a relatively updated appearance, this bowtie's finishing pieces look so natural they could be mistaken for factory-spec. At the front of the car, a guarded bumper protects modern headlights, a fiberglass apron, clear parking lamps and a stainless grille. At the top of that grille, a chrome-trimmed hood leads the eye to smoked glass that's founded in highly polished frames and capped Rain Gear wipers. At the base of that glass, monochromatic trim spears and shaved quarter emblems give way to a polished driver's mirror, chrome door handles and straight rocker guards. And at the back of the car, a custom, 1-piece bumper rides beneath traditional tail lamps and polished trunk trim that doubles as a small Center High Mount Stop Lamp. ENGINE If you think the exterior of this classic is impressive, you're going to LOVE what's under its hood! Cranking out ample horsepower, this Bel Air's lightweight, high performance LS1 is widely regarded as one of the best small blocks ever produced. Donated by a 1999 Camaro, it combines a sturdy aluminum block with lightweight aluminum heads, a Chevrolet Performance Hot Cam and aluminum flat top pistons to create razor-sharp throttle response and lightning quick acceleration. At the front of the mill, a Vintage Air Front Runner system spins a rebuilt alternator and fresh AC compressor at the sides of a polished, "LS1" branded air filter. Once air enters that filter, it flows through a factory throttle body in to a factory-spec intake, which is bolted down over mostly stock internals. High-octane fossils are provided by GM electronic fuel injection. Sparks are sequenced from a Street & Performance wiring harness to high performance plug wires. Spent gases exit through coated Street & Performance headers. And cooling comes courtesy of a polished aluminum radiator that rides between two large puller fans and a Vintage Cooling Systems support. Visually, not a detail was missed under this Chevy's Super Black bonnet. Niceties such as polished valve covers, a Wilwood master cylinder, trick dipsticks and a custom cowl provide just the right amount of flash to give the engine a clean, finished look. And the vicious small block fires right up, idles perfectly and accelerates like a modern sports car! DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Structurally, the '56 Chevrolet is an extremely versatile platform that can accept a wide variety of enhancements. And one look under this Bel Air provides a glimpse of how a few modifications can make a big difference. The car's glossy Bel Air Classic chassis rides opposite a fully finished, 1-piece floorpan and custom mini tubs. Behind the hot small block, a Camaro-sourced 4L60E automatic easily torques a narrowed 12-bolt, which spins a posi-traction differential around 3.73 gears and fresh Moser axles. At the front of the car, stainless Heidts control arms and proven Ridetech air shocks frame power rack-and-pinion steering. At the back of the car, a stainless Heidts 4-bar leads two more Ridetech air shocks. Stops come courtesy of Wilwood 4 and 6-piston calipers, which squeeze four drilled and slotted rotors. Exhaust is handled by polished, Mandrel-bent pipes, which utilize polished Kooks mufflers to create an awesome chorus of sound. Grip is provided by stylish Billet Specialties wheels, which spin 245/40ZR18 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As in front of 335/30ZR18 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As. And everything, from the car's Wilwood proportioning valve to its Rock Valley fuel tank, appears purpose-built to tackle the asphalt. INTERIOR There's no shortage of tri-fives with custom interiors. But this cockpit, high-dollar leather installed by Roanoke, Virginia's Horne's Upholstery, is certainly a stand out. With Vintage Air conditioning, power windows and a powerful Clarion CD player, all the modern conveniences are present and accounted for. One of the best additions to the cabin is a fresh quartet of bucket seats, all of which are based on modern bones. In front of those seats, a padded, billet-trimmed dash frames clean Dakota Digital VHX telemetry. At the sides of that dash, sculpted door panels hang chrome hardware over custom kick panels and big Nakamichi speakers. Beneath those speakers, tight California Carpet floats color-keyed floor mats around billet foot pedals, a small Hurst shifter and a lit, full-length console. In front of the driver, a painted, tilting column spins a painted, reduced-diameter wheel. And behind the passengers, a fully finished trunk provides a perfect place to display trophies. AWARDS Speaking of trophies, this Chevy is certainly privy to golden accolades. Here's a list of the major awards bestowed since the car's recent restoration.Top 25 at the 2014 Pigeon Forge Rod RunShow-Class Outstanding at the 2014 Bristol Super Chevy ShowBest Tri-Five at the 2014 Bristol Super Chevy Show To borrow a quote from Ed Cole, former Chevrolet Chief Engineer: "We got a big kick out of designing this new Chevrolet, and you will get an even bigger one out of driving it." If you\'re a fan of chrome, then this 1956 Buick Special will certainly hold a special appeal. For many, the appeal of the smallest Buick can be explained by its big car comfort and power and Chevy-sized package, making for one formidable factory hot-rod. The \"CMC\" paint code on the cowl tag is for the tri-tone combination that was popular on \'50s Buicks, sandwiching code M Seminole Red between code C Dover White top and side coves for a truly dazzling effect. No paint job in 1956 ever looked this good, which we can credit to modern paint technology, and the finish will probably look this good for years to come thanks to durable materials. It\'s clear someone did their homework, because this sucker fits together extremely well. And talk about chrome! That massive grille is composed of dozens of separate pieces, each of which was stripped, polished, plated, and reinstalled to create the grinning countenance that is the Buick front end. Impressive! Of course, it also includes the three \"venti-ports\" signifying a Special, plus the famous Buick sweep-spear whose shape is still seen in Buicks built today. The brand-new two-tone interior is nothing short of artwork. GM designers in the \'50s were the best in the world, and this car shows you why. The black and red seats are wide and comfortable, of course, with flashy door panels to match and both the carpet and headliner are new. And as long as we\'re looking at the doors, note how the exterior paint wraps around the door jambs, a sure sign of a high-quality job. The red steering wheel is a nice touch and the wrap-around dash embraces chrome just as much as the front-end of the car does. The gauges are showing a bit of age but they do give you a complete view of the engine and the original Sonomatic AM radio still lives in the center of the dash with that incredibly ornate speaker grille below it. The trunk is obviously quite original, and reproduction trunk mats are widely available, so it would be easy to push it to the next level without a big investment. Buick\'s 322 cubic inch \"Nailhead\" V8 was standard across the line for the first time in 1956, meaning that the Special finally had the horsepower to match its big brothers. Nicely detailed when the car was restored, the engine wears Buick Turquoise paint and a stock air cleaner with a factory 2-barrel carburetor underneath. Still running its original generator, the car sticks to the factory specifications throughout and the radiator up front is new, so it runs nice and cool. Buick\'s Dynaflow transmission was a bit more sophisticated by 1956, but it\'s still impossibly smooth out on the road, where speed creeps up on you without anyone noticing. The suspension is commendably supple, and even with drum brakes all around, braking is confident. Optional full wheel covers are a nice upgrade, and it rides on G78-15 wide whites, just as it did when new. The Special gives you all the style of the Century at a fraction of the price. Like I said, if you like chrome, there aren\'t many better choices than this. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom. We\'ve had a lot of success lately with panel trucks, and this 1956 Chevy sedan delivery is one of the coolest of them all. With big block power, a restrained look, and all the creature comforts, it\'s a muscle car that merely looks like a vintage delivery van. And it\'s a heck of a lot of fun. In truth, this merely looks like a 1956 Chevy, as the body was dropped on the frame of a 1969 Chevelle SS396, giving it the moves of one of the greatest muscle cars of all time without affecting its utility. Cloaking it in black is exactly the right choice, because this car doesn\'t want to take prisoners, and the finish work ensures that nobody thinks it\'s still working for a living. Someone spent a ton of money on the project, and while it\'s a few years old now, the black paint still shines up well and the flat surfaces that would ordinarily advertise your business are reflective enough to shave in each morning. All the original \'55 Chevy trim was retained, and the restrained look of this particular panel delivery is a big part of its appeal. Bright chrome bumpers, a nice-looking grille, and just a single strip of stainless trim on the flanks gives it a traditional look that\'s helped by the slight rake and upgraded wheels. When you climb inside, you\'ll find swiveling 1977 Monte Carlo bucket seats wrapped in black and silver that certainly contribute to the muscle car vibe. Matching door panels work well with the slick monochromatic look, and the dash is a mixture of old and new, with original 1956 gauges augmented by a dash-mounted tach and auxiliary gauges built into the dash. Under-dash A/C helps make this a cruiser you can truly take anywhere, including cross-country, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo helps to pass the time. A tilt steering column and what looks like a vintage Tuff Wheel add a racy look, as does the T-handle B%26amp;M shifter which is ideally placed for manual gear changes. The cargo area is fully upholstered, offering black carpets on the floors and custom silver Chevrolet bowties on the side panels, along with nicely integrated speakers for the stereo system. Grab you gear, because this sucker\'ll carry it all! As I said, underneath it\'s all 1969 Chevelle SS396, including the stout 396 cubic inch V8 powerplant. Already plenty stout, it\'s augmented with a Holley carb, Edelbrock intake, and a set of long-tube headers that bolster its already robust torque curve. Aside from the tall air cleaner, it looks fairly OEM in there, right down to the Chevy Orange paint on the block and chrome valve covers. It\'s backed by a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission and 12-bolt rear end, so it was clearly designed to be driven, and with the Chevelle\'s front suspension, power disc brakes, and coil-spring rear suspension, it rides and handles better than you\'d expect. Classic American Racing Torque Thrust wheels are never a bad choice on a vintage-looking rod, and they carry recent blackwall radials that fill the wheel wells perfectly. A very cool build that covers all the bases, this 1955 Chevy is either a great road trip machine or the ideal promotional vehicle for your business. Call today! This 1956 Chevrolet 210 2-door has the look that has been in style for more than five decades. With just a few subtle upgrades, the car\'s entire personality changes, resulting in a slick street rod that can be driven anywhere and looks great doing it. The colors aren\'t original, but the pattern is, and no matter what you choose, that always works. The metallic blue and white paint job was done in the early 2000s, but thanks to excellent care ever since, it still manages to draw appreciative glances from the crowds at car shows and on the street. Of course, a lot of that is surely due to the fact that the \'56 Chevy is a great-looking car all by itself, but the metallic blue paint gives it a dignified look that belies the performance waiting underneath. Nice bodywork and good gaps suggest that good money was spent to make it look this way, and aside from a few signs of use, it seems to defy the years. Lots of bright chrome helps with the look and even though the design was slightly different on the 210 models, the \'56s still had the coolest 2-tone pattern of all time. 1-piece California-style bumpers help with the smoothie look, and all the stainless trim was polished up when the car was built. Nothing was shaved or deleted, so it has a traditional look; only the stance and rolling stock give it away. It\'s a little more updated inside, where custom cloth upholstery is far more comfortable than the original vinyl and has a distinctly \'50s look that seems right. Matching door panels continue the button-tufted theme and you\'ll notice cool details and interesting patterns throughout. The factory instrument panel was retained, and the speedometer and auxiliary gauges show crisp white markings on a black background along with a strip of bright trim that stretches from side to side. Aftermarket air conditioning was added to make this a very comfortable cruiser, with vents neatly stashed under the lower dash and hidden controls that keep the stock look. A manual transmission sticking out of the transmission tunnel gives it a more hard-core race look, but combined with the woodgrained steering wheel, it seems like it has borrowed some Corvette DNA. An AM/FM/cassette radio slotted neatly into the original hole in the dash and powers speakers built into the rear quarter panels. Open the trunk and you\'ll find a correct rubber mat and a rear-mounted battery that frees up some room in the engine bay. In that engine bay you\'ll find a 350 cubic inch V8 that has a no-nonsense look to it. Cast aluminum valve covers, an Edelbrock intake manifold, and a Holley Demon carburetor are the obvious upgrades, although there\'s also a modern alternator and a dual reservoir master cylinder. The bright Chevy Orange paint on the block looks very fresh and recent work includes belts, hoses, and tune-up components so it\'s ready to enjoy without worries. Backed by a 4-speed manual and the original rear end, it\'s a lot of fun to drive and with glasspack-style mufflers, you\'ll be blipping the throttle every time you pass under a bridge. Everything\'s undercoated so it\'s quiet and comfortable inside and it sits right on Torque Thrust wheels and 245/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials. Hard to go wrong with a shoebox Chevy and cars like this will never go out of style. Fast, comfortable, and always stylish, this cool 210 is the car you\'ve been waiting for. Call today! If you\'ve outgrown your Chevy fascination and a Cadillac is just too much car, take a look at this very handsome 1956 Buick Century Riviera sedan. Dashing two-tone looks, lots of chrome for a perfect \'50s presentation, and four portholes on the side indicating big horsepower under the hood, and you have one of the earliest \"gentleman\'s hot rods.\" This four-door does a fantastic job of disguising its family sedan DNA, with a profile that looks quite sleek and the pillar-less Riviera hardtop design gives it a very appealing profile that looks great from any angle. The two-tone Cambridge Blue and Dover White paint accentuates the Buick\'s dramatic curves, particularly the sweep-spear styling that started in 1942 and continues to this day. Finish quality is very good, with four doors that fit well and paint that shines up beautifully, and there\'s a bit of metallic in the blue so it glows from within when the light hits it just right. The Century remained Buick\'s top performer, and they didn\'t hold back with the advertising, with \'Century\' script on the rear doors and four portholes on the front fenders, denoting a senior car. Of course, as a product of the 1950s, there\'s literally a ton of chrome on the car, all of it in very good condition with a fine front grille that\'s especially cool. You\'ll also note that the tailpipes exit subtly from the lower edges of the rear bumper, another popular \'50s styling trick that works quite well here. There\'s a lot of space in the big Buick\'s interior, which also wears newer upholstery. It\'s not totally correct, but the fabric seating surfaces work with original-style vinyl to create an interior that\'s both comfortable and functional. Door panels are neatly finished with painted garnish moldings and sleek armrests, and the carpets were recently replaced. A ribbon-style speedometer stretches the width of the instrument panel, with auxiliary gauges just below and the original AM radio to its right, putting everything within easy reach. A big steering wheel was more about style than leverage, since power steering makes this Century effortless to drive. The trunk is as large as you\'d expect, and is trimmed with original-looking materials and carries a full-sized spare of indeterminate age. Buick\'s \"Nailhead\" V8 was introduced in 1953, and by 1956 it had grown to 255 horsepower, making it one of the best performers you could buy at any price. Buick capitalized on the engine\'s mountainous torque curve and even with that much sheetmetal around it, this is a very strong performer. Buick Turquoise paint had been in use since just after the war and gives the engine a purposeful look especially under that big air cleaner. The engine bay is quite authentic, including original generator and power steering system, as well as the factory heater boxes on the firewall. Backed by a buttery-smooth Dynaflow automatic transmission, it accelerates like an electric motor and cruises effortlessly at 70 MPH. A bubbly dual exhaust system sounds appropriate for the big sedan and with a uniform layer of undercoating on the chassis, it stays quiet and comfortable inside the car. Flashy red wheels with full wheel covers are fitted with 235/75/15 BFGoodrich Silvertown wide whitewall radials for a period-correct look. Buick fans know the Century is the model to own, and this gorgeous Riviera sedan makes it easy to appreciate full-sized luxury and performance. Call today! Great rods that are also affordable are getting hard to find. Sure, you could always find someone else\'s unfinished project or buy something that needs significant re-work, or you could simply buy this two-tone 1956 Chevy 210 that has a traditional look and plenty of performance and cut straight to the driving part. A lot of shoebox Chevy fans prefer the \'56 models with their clean, almost understated styling, and with all its original trim intact, this handsome 210 2-door sedan makes an excellent choice for this summer\'s cruise night cruiser. The white-over-purple combination isn\'t quite what the factory would have specified, but it follows the original recipe for the split, giving it a great 1950s look with a bit of a twist. Finish quality is quite good, and keeping all the stock sheetmetal intact means that the beautiful work of the restrained \'56 Chevrolet stylists is still on display. The high-gloss paint is certain to draw admirers from across the show field and once it was all buffed and polished, all the factory trim was reinstalled. The 210 is a little less flashy than the Bel Air, and with just a single strip of chrome running form nose tail, but nobody can argue that this isn\'t a great-looking car. Chevrolet script on the quarter panel, those delightfully intricate taillight housings, and wrap around glass are all factory elements that made the transition completely intact. Tastefully updated, the tan interior works on a number of levels. Most noticeable are the late-model buckets with lots of adjustment, so it\'s easy to get comfortable in this vintage Chevy. You\'ll note that they went to extra lengths to get all the upholstery just right, from the matching back seat to the door panels which use the original garnish moldings and hardware. The factory instrument panel is still one of the best-looking designs of the period and it keeps its bright trim strip and twin cockpit design, while adding such upgrades as a set of Stewart-Warner gauges underneath and a Sony AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit in the center. The 3-spoke steering wheel looks right and frames the gauges perfectly and having a Hurst cue ball atop your 4-speed is never a mistake. There\'s plenty of room in the trunk, which carries a matching Cragar wheel and tire assembly plus a jack. The powerplant is what you\'d expect, and if you want reliable power, it\'s hard to beat a 350 cubic inch Chevy V8. The formula was perfected decades ago, leaving you to the business of hitting the road and having fun with the confidence that when you turn the key, it will spring to life. A Holley double-pumper and a Street Dominator intake manifold make impressive torque and it has an old-school hot rod look thanks to the chrome valve covers and painted engine block. The electrical system features a powerful Optima battery and with power front disc brakes, it\'s safe and confident on the road. The aforementioned 4-speed gearbox feeds what appears to be the original rear end and it exhales through a set of ceramic-coated long-tube headers and Flowmaster mufflers with chrome tips. Classic Cragar mags complete the old-school look and carry 245/60/15 Goodyear radials. There\'s something to be said for simplicity and not reinventing the wheel, and at this price, you can have one heck of a nice rod to enjoy this summer without breaking the bank. Call today! With the Scottsdale auctions behind us, it\'s time to sit back and show our appreciation for the cars that aren\'t six-figure trailer queens. Instead, cars like this 1956 Chevrolet 210 2-door sedan remind us that having fun in your old car is what this hobby is all about, and when you can do it in high-visibility style like this for a price tag below the cost of a new Honda, well, life is pretty good. You\'re definitely going to get noticed in this eyeball-burning yellow shoebox, but it looks so good you\'ll never think twice about it. Fit and finish are quite good, as they should be on a car that will undoubtedly capture everyone\'s attention everywhere it goes. Even up close you find evidence that the guys who built it cared about the results; just check out how well those doors fit and smoothly each panel flows into the next. It makes due without graphics, modified bodywork, and all of its trim fully intact, and the cleaner 210 look works well with the monochromatic color scheme. Tinted windows help with the updated look and offer some great contrast to the paint, and everything that\'s shiny on the car appears to have been treated to a freshening when the car was built. It\'s not perfect, but trailer queens aren\'t what we\'re talking about here, remember? The interior works well, functional and stylish without resorting to outrageous mods that never look right in a \'50s car. The factory bench seats were covered in comfortable black velour with a diamond-quilted pattern that seems both custom and period-correct, and the matching door panels really work well. The bright yellow Grant steering wheel is admittedly a take-it-or-leave-it thing, but it\'s easy to grab and feels right when you\'re grabbing gears in the 4-speed transmission just to its right. The factory gauges are still there and the dashboard is every bit as pretty here as it was when it was new, a triumph of design in an everyman\'s car. There are several auxiliary gauges in the dash, but the installation is so clean you almost don\'t notice them and they certainly don\'t look like add-ons, and the AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit fits where the original AM unit used to live. The trunk has also been finished with a full carpet set and gives you plenty of room for gear and luggage for your next road trip, a task to which this Chevy is ideally suited. Power comes from a reliable and well-built 350 cubic inch V8, so you know it\'s going to be fun to drive and will take you anywhere you want to go. The attention to detail continues into the engine bay, with more bright yellow paint and Edelbrock dress-up pieces to give it a vintage speed look. Smart upgrades include an alternator, Edelbrock intake and carburetor, and a pair of ceramic-coated Hedman headers to bolster low-end torque production. The aforementioned 4-speed transmission powers the original rear end which hangs on what appear to be factory leaf springs, so it sits and rides well without the harshness that comes from trying to reinvent the suspension. Classic Weld wheels will make guys who grew up looking at these cars in the hot-rod magazines smile, and are fitted with big 235/70/15 blackwall radials that fill the fenders just right. We\'re not going to over-sell this car, but the bottom line is that if you love to be the center of attention, this is the car that will do it for you. Call today! How about one with some of the best vintage styling ever draped over two doors and four tires? If the answer is a resounding "YES", this 1956 Ford Victoria is exactly the car you've been searching for! With its massaged Thunderbird V8, modern 4-speed transmission and stunning orange and white color combination, this Fairlane is the perfect classic for anyone who enjoys exploring the open road. If you're looking to add a little spice to your weekend routine, here's the perfect way to take Sunday drives to a whole new level! BODYWORK/TRIM Solid and straight, the car's picturesque fuselage reflects a rich combination of Mandarin Orange and Colonial White 2-stage that creates a clean and classy demeanor. From its glossy roof to its chip-free rockers, that paint's smooth finish is nice enough to be the star at any hometown show, and certainly nicer than Ford's original, factory-applied lacquer. Naturally, a star of that caliber requires top-notch panel fit. And it definitely appears the folks involved in this Victoria's 2011 rotisserie restoration spent a lot of time making sure the car's streamlined body maintained excellent cohesion. Not surprisingly, this exceptional Fairlane mixes re-plated trim with a roster of cool and carefully duplicated details. At the front of the car, an exaggerated egg-crate grille hangs a small AACA Touring plaque between clean headlights, chrome-trimmed parking lamps, intricate header emblems and a mirrored bumper that bends around peaked fenders. Between those fenders, a chrome-detailed hood leads the eye to tinted glass that's framed by thick trim, cleared by bright wipers and reflected in a correct mirror. Below that mirror, classy door handles, subtle fender skirts and polished rocker guards perfectly complement elaborate side sweeps, expressive "Victoria" scripts and small "THUNDERBIRD V8" emblems. And opposite those emblems, a pivotal "Fairlane" badge rides between chrome-trimmed, jet-inspired taillights and a second wraparound bumper. ENGINE Hoist this Ford's lightweight hood and you'll find a correct, 292 cubic inch Thunderbird V8 that, during the car's extensive restoration, was bored .030 over, fully rebuilt and fitted with 12-volt electronic ignition. Introduced in 1955, this stout little Y-block remained an option in blue oval staples well into the mid-1970s. At the top of the bright orange mill, a familiar silver air cleaner draws wind into an updated, 390cfm Holley, which is stacked between a Lokar throttle linkage and fresh stainless fuel lines. Atomized octane passes through a stock intake manifold to correct, cast iron heads, which cap a balanced rotating assembly. At the front of those heads, a rebuilt generator and correct fan spin in unison as a restored radiator keeps things cool via pliable hoses. And spark comes courtesy of a traditional points distributor, which sequences fire through 7mm High Temperature Static Suppression cables. From its black, Thunderbird-branded valve covers to its fresh Autolite battery topper, this cruiser's glossy engine bay presents a clean, authentic appearance. And best of all, the 202 horsepower mill fires instantly and sounds surprisingly beefy through cast iron exhaust manifolds and factory-style tail pipes. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION At the bottom of this Victoria, a fully sorted undercarriage houses professionally restored floors that are bolted to lots of factory-correct components. Nice enough to show but still fully drivable, this is the perfect compromise for enthusiasts who like to display their classic AND enjoy occasional weekend getaways. Behind the aforementioned Y-block, the car's modern AOD 4-speed, a rebuilt unit originally sourced from a 1991 Mustang GT, sends power to a factory Ford axle. A sturdy suspension remains in its original configuration with coils up front, leafs out back and traditional manual steering. Braking is quick and adequate thanks to fresh drums at all four corners. On the outside of those drums, painted steel wheels spin 215/75R15 Eldorado whitewalls around classy chrome hubcaps. And all the chassis' parts feature an immaculate, weather-free appearance, reinforcing the idea that it's been a very long time since this hardtop's seen daily-driver duty. INTERIOR 2-tone paint is legendary for its characteristically '50s feel. And when paired with this Fairlane's airy interior, it creates the perfect culmination of style and sophistication. Thanks to the car's high quality restoration, its gridded bench seats will be livable for years to come. Front and center, factory gauges, a correct AM radio and a quartz-movement clock look great inside a stylish, Ford-branded dash. At the sides of that dash, scuff-free door panels center chrome handles and small armrests between body-matched frames and unique, Lion-branded sills. Those sills pin tight carpet that still features bright orange loops. In front of the driver, a body-matched steering wheel spins a Mandarin rim around a chrome, Ford-branded horn ring. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk anchors a fresh plaid mat next to a full-size spare tire. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION AND ACCESSORIESA service manualBuild receipts It doesn't matter whether you're a Ford guy, MoPar guy or Chevy guy, this impressive Victoria is one of those cars that transcends barriers and claims universal appeal. Its great looks, great performance and great color combo all add up to an exceptional classic that can be driven and enjoyed every day of the summer. Indulge as is, or tinker with it to make it sharper, either way you'll have a high value cruiser that has unmatched curb appeal and the muscle to back it up! Sure, that's a REALLY nice car. But what about folks who enjoy their drop-tops steeped in a little more tradition? Fear not, RK Motors Charlotte has a car for them too! The beneficiary of a professional, frame-off restoration, this seriously cool cruiser is a high quality tri-five that you can invest in, drive around and enjoy for years to come. Featuring an equal emphasis on show and go, it combines an era-correct, 265 cubic inch small block with a smooth Powerglide transmission and correct, 2-tone appearance. If you've been searching for a striking '50s showpiece, but want something that's a heck of a lot more usable than some high dollar hot rod, this Chevy's excellent combination of vintage style and timeless class simply can't be beat! BODYWORK/TRIM This well-traveled convertible is a fully sorted road warrior that combines everything great about '50s Americana with a correct drivetrain and retro-cool aesthetics. The car's detailed, ground-up restoration veils a rock-solid profile in correct Nassau and Harbor Blue 2-stage. That pigment rides under factory-spec trim, which reflects like-new glass and a tight white top. And presently, the car rolls as a subdued combination of classic lines, good times and old school swagger. ENGINE Since this Bel Air is more parade queen than stoplight warrior, it should come as no surprise that the car's 265 cubic inch Super Turbo Fire V8 is essentially a gimmick-free exercise in factory accuracy and antique showmanship. Look to the top of the mill and you'll find a reliable Rochester carburetor that mixes oxygen from an oil bath air cleaner with fuel that's supplied by stainless fluid lines and a traditional mechanical pump. At the sides of that carburetor, stamped and silver-detailed valve covers cap restored exhaust manifolds that are piped in to free-breathing tubes. Behind that carburetor, a traditional points distributor shoots fire through loomed Mileage Plus plug wires. And in front of that carburetor, a tagged radiator circulates coolant through GM-branded hoses and authentic squeeze clamps. In addition to its smooth powerplant, the fully detailed engine bay features dual horns, a Delco-Remy generator and a tagged Delco yellow cap battery. And aesthetically, Satin Black fenders bridge the gap between the mill's deep red block and the car's Harbor Blue exterior. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION As is the case with most '50s-era GM cruisers, that engine is backed by a familiar Powerglide 2-speed, which sends torque to a highway-friendly rear end. That rebuilt drivetrain rides a completely restored suspension, which, along with the car's tight manual steering and firm drum brakes, provides a great combination of old school ride and handling characteristics. That clean suspension rolls traditional wire wheels, which twist 205/75R15 Coker Classic whitewalls. An authentic 'snap, crackle, pop' engine note is provided by throaty turbo mufflers. Out back, an aftermarket sway bar frames a fresh stainless fuel tank. And in a break with tradition, this Bel Air's solid floors have been sealed in a thick layer of Harbor Blue pigment. INTERIOR Featuring a pleasant array of accents, this tri-five's correct, 2-tone interior is one of its most impressive traits. At the center of the car, firm bench seats wear taut vinyl skin that's highlighted by bright chrome hardware. In front of those seats, a classy dash hangs clean, bowtie-branded gauges next to a simple, pushbutton radio. On the doors, textured panels found traditional chrome handles around stainless trim and sculpted armrests. At the floor, clean California Carpet rides under rugged, Bel Air-branded mats. The driver stays connected to the road through a large-diameter steering wheel, which spins a full chrome horn ring around a gold Chevrolet centerpiece. And the passengers stow their essentials in a fully restored trunk that anchors a full-size spare tire between a correct jack, fresh decals and a new mat. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATIONVintage marketing literatureA factory tune-up manualMiscellaneous service records Impressive and ready to roll, this Chevy is poised to turn heads. But this restomod has plenty of power to back up its mean machine looks thanks to modern V8 Lightning thrust. This is the perfect coupe to draw everyone in at the car show. It looks pretty stock at a first glance, with bright chrome in front and sweeping down the side. But then people start to take notice of the rich black gloss of the paint, and they begin to realize how butter-smooth the whole car looks without any bumper bolts or extra badging. As people get closer, they start to wonder are the rear taillights blacked-out? And does that say "Lightning" in the red pinstriping running down the side chrome? Yes, this is one interesting custom coupe that draws gawkers in like flies to honey. Inside there are even more signs of a serious investment in custom work. The original 50's style decor has been custom merged with a Ford interior that's four decades younger. That gives this restomod more modern comfort and flair with features such as a full gauge package, cruise control, tilt wheel, and air conditioning. There's even a center console holding a modern AM/FM/CD radio with stereo speakers. The original interior has been given a custom treatment so the door panels and leather seats now coordinate with the black and red on the exterior. Because the front bench is fully split, the driver now also gets a power chair. But that's not the best feature from behind the wheel. For that, all you need to do is turn the key and listen to a rumble that doesn't sound like anything else from 1956. Under the hood is a big surprise. This is the fuel-injected 351 cubic-inch EFI V8 directly out of a 1994 Ford F-150 Lightning. This now-famous truck was known for being the beefy answer to Chevy's big-block performance pickup, and all that horsepower and torque is being used to move this classic coupe. But it wasn't just the motor that was fitted in this Fairlane. The stout Ford E4OD four-speed overdrive transmission was also lifted from the Lightning. This is good news because the electronically controlled unit was specifically programmed for the extra power of Ford's performance truck. The upgrades continue all the way down the driveshaft where this one is running Ford Racing's limited-slip rear with a 3.27 ratio. That strong rear end is good for both performance and everyday use. The same can be said for this coupe's power steering, front disc brakes, and modern Michelin rubber on 16-inch Pacer wheels...all connected to a Fat Man Fabrications Mustang II front end. This is the best of both worlds. All the great classic lines are retained in this coupe, but now it also has a serious upgrade in attitude, power, and reliability of a modern fuel injected drivetrain. As one of Detroit's most universally adored creations, late '50s Chevys continue to be restoration magnets for builders and collectors alike. The only problem is: once you've joined the ranks of tri-five ownership, it becomes increasingly difficult to stand out. Well, with a classic like this striking Nomad, standing out is guaranteed to be a nonissue. The beneficiary of a comprehensive restoration, this wagon's time-tested look is backed by an impressive list of hardware that includes a spry Chevy small block, a tough 4L60E automatic and a thoroughly updated chassis that rolls on mirrored Coys wheels. Relatively rare, and increasingly exclusive, Nomads are always crowd favorites. And, with twice the swagger of its hardtop and convertible brethren, this versatile bowtie is one of the most enjoyable tri-fives on the planet! BODYWORK/TRIM A solid foundation for building a lights-out resto-mod, this slick Chevy's smooth, all-American body is covered in a rich coat of Charcoal Gray 2-stage. That glossy pigment, bearing striking similarity to Chevrolet's current Ashen Gray offering, creates a monochromatic profile that's been buffed, sanded and polished to near perfection. Panel gaps appear to be at better-than-factory tolerances, creating straight surfaces that are likely much cleaner than when they originally rolled out of the showroom. And today, this reborn classic sits as a stylish testament to storied Detroit excellence. As a collector car enthusiast, you really can't go wrong with any '50s Chevy. But for many folks, the division's '56 model essentially perfected the art. At the front of the car, a straight, stainless grille hangs clear parking lamps between chrome-trimmed headlights and a guarded bumper. At the top of that grille, a chrome-trimmed hood centers a polished 'jetbird' ornament over a vivid Sedan Delivery crest. Behind that hood, polished frames seal lightly tinted glass between capped wipers and mirrorless doors. At the base of those frames, a shaved profile chases traditional door handles with polished trim spears. And at the back of the car, a second guarded bumper frames a shaved valance that features traditional tail lamps, polished tailgate trim and a classy "Nomad" script. ENGINE In keeping with unspoken tradition, this Nomad proudly sports a spry Chevy small block. That said; it's probably not quite the small block you're expecting. Lift the domed hood and you'll see where tradition stops and convenience begins. Instead of sticking with factory-correct fodder, the previous owner decided that a 403 cubic inch stroker motor would be an excellent complement to the car's stellar looks, and we can't help but agree. Up top, a Charcoal Gray intake breathes through a billet throttle body and Texas Speed & Performance air cleaner. At the sides of that intake, AC Delco plug wires snake around factory-spec exhaust manifolds that are snugged to a cast iron block. Inside that block, a forged crank spins forged rods and Wiseco pistons at the sides of an LS7 cam. At the front of that cam, smooth serpentine components ride behind a billet radiator support, which hangs dual electric puller fans behind a big AutoRad tank. And, aesthetically, the modern mill looks fantastic, accented with niceties like braided lines, a billet oil cap and a glossy, Charcoal Gray frame. DRIVETRAIN Take a look under this classy courier and you'll find a thoroughly upgraded chassis that's clean, calculated and ready to hit the road. A glossy frame creates a nice contrast to solid, undercoated floors. Behind the big engine, a fresh 4L60E 4-speed spins a Driveline Express driveshaft, which twists a narrow Nova axle. That power team pushes the car on a Ridetech 4-link rear-half that's fitted with proven coil-over-shocks. Opposite that 4-link, an independent front clip makes good use of power rack-and-pinion steering and beefy tubular control arms. At the corners of that lucid suspension, quality Wilwood calipers bridge the gap between a familiar Wilwood master cylinder, a small Wilwood proportioning valve, and drilled and slotted rotors. Charred dinosaurs float from the aforementioned manifolds to large cats, a large Magnaflow muffler and a deceptively simple tailpipe. And power meets the pavement through chrome Coys C5s, which spin 225/35ZR20 Nexen N7000s in front of 275/35ZR20 Nexen N7000s. INTERIOR Pop the doors and you'll find a substantially tweaked interior that splashes a little red on the car's all-business aesthetic. Front and center, factory-spec benches wrap bright stainless trim around tight leather hides. In front of those seats, a billet-trimmed dash hangs bright Auto Meter gauges and an Auto Meter Quartz clock over controls for the car's modern climate system. At the edges of that dash, custom side panels anchor chrome door and window cranks between thick armrests, Charcoal frames and tasteful stainless trim. At the bottom of those panels, gray carpet floats color-keyed mats beneath billet foot pedals. Opposite that carpet, a chrome mirror leads a leather headliner that's propped on polished bows. In front of the driver, a half-wrapped Billet Specialties steering wheel laps a color-keyed, tilting column. And behind the passengers, a carpeted storage area features almost enough room for one season's plunder of trophies. With top-notch tri-fives riding comfortably in six-figure territory, this Nomad represents the opportunity to own an exclusive, attention-grabbing classic that shows, and drives, better than new. If you're ready to be the star of the show, clean out your garage, call your friends at RK Motors Charlotte and claim this sweet Chevy! [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Frame Up Restored Bel Air GM Performance 350 V8 TCI TH400 3.70 Posi Power Disc Year: 1956 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Red Mileage: 62233 Transmission type: 3 Speed Automatic Engine: 350 V8 Interior color: Ivory Vehicle Info You might think that just because we look at the world's most beautiful cars all day every day that we'd be hard to impress here at RK Motors Charlotte. Fortunately, that's not true, and this lovely 1956 Chevy Bel Air is proof. I looked at the quality of the workmanship, the level of detail, and the parts that went into its construction, then at the price, and I was flabbergasted. We've had cars this nice before, of course, and they've all sold quickly for much bigger numbers than the one attached to this one. I'm urging you to take a good, close look at the photos and note the details below, because this car will probably not last more than three or four days on the showroom floor. Not a car this nice, and definitely not at that price. The 56 Chevys were handsome cars, and the variation of the original Dusk Rose and India Ivory colors on this one is gorgeous. Thanks to straight bodywork, good gaps, and proper panel alignment, the wonderful paint scheme of this 56 works extremely well. Restored cars are almost always nicer than stock, and this one is no exception they weren't building Chevys this nice in 1956. Look how the trunk fits, how straight and even the trim above the front grille is, and the unbroken reflections in the side panels. The paint is two-stage DuPont urethane, and while the Dusk Rose may have a little more pearl and metallic in it than original, you can't argue that it isn't beautifully done. All of the glass is new, and it includes all new rubber gaskets, window tracks, channels, and felt whiskers so that all the windows open and close effortlessly. All of the chrome and stainless throughout the car has been either restored or replaced, and anyone who has restored a car from the 50s knows that you'll spend a year's worth of house payments on the brightwork restoration alone. The stainless Bel Air trim that defines the sides of the car is bright and clear, with no scratches or dings. Tail lights and parking lamps feature fresh lenses and the multi-colored Chevrolet emblems fore and aft are crisp and bright. As I said, the detailing on this car is extremely well done. Originally equipped with a 265 cubic inch V8, this Chevy now sports a 350 cubic inch GM Performance Parts crate engine. With 290 horsepower and 326 pounds of torque, it's the perfect complement to the easygoing nature of the Bel Air, and it runs happily on 87 octane fuel, making it economical as well. Up top there's an Edelbrock 600 CFM 4-barrel on top of a polished Weiand Street Warrior intake, and a matching set of finned valve covers and an aluminum air cleaner give it a vintage performance look. Cast iron cylinder heads feature 1.94-inch intake and 1.50-inch exhaust valves, and help deliver good torque and useful mid-range power that make this car a wonderful highway cruiser. A Pertronix Flame-Thrower distributor lights the fires, and a set of rams horn exhaust manifolds give it a period-correct look under the hood. Other useful upgrades include a big CoolCraft aluminum radiator and a 160 degree thermostat, a dual master cylinder, and an alternator delivering the amps. This one most definitely runs as good as it looks. The original PowerGlide 2-speed automatic was replaced with an expensive TCI TH350 that also includes a new torque converter, correct speedometer gear, and a Lokar shift linkage that connects it to the original column-mounted shifter. In back, the original rear end is full of 3.70 gears, which give the old girl plenty of punch around town. The exhaust system consists of 2-inch pipes with a crossover feeding a pair of original style mufflers, so it's mellow and quiet instead of obnoxious and rude. Up front, the stock drum brakes were replaced with a set of ECIs zero-offset disc brakes with 11-inch rotors and single-piston calipers from a late-model Camaro, and they tuck into the stock wheels without modification. The rest of the braking system is stock, but completely rebuilt with new lines, hoses, wheel cylinders and a residual valve. Springs, ball joints, tie rods, and shocks are all relatively new, making this 56 feel like new on the road. New 15x5 chrome wheels wear color-matched 1956 Chevrolet bowtie hubcaps and a set of fresh 205/75/15 Diamondback wide whitewall radials. The interior has been completely restored to stock specifications using original-appearing ivory vinyl and charcoal gray pattern cloth. There's new foam under the seat covers, and the door panels, carpets, and headliner are all correct and fresh. All the wiring has been replaced, and the fuse block has been upgraded to a Power Plus ATO panel for safety and future expansion. The gauges are new, the clock has been upgraded with a quartz movement, and a trio of auxiliary gauges hangs beneath the dash keeping an eye on the fresh crate motor. There's also a brand new SunPro tachometer on the steering column that looks like a period-correct accessory very cool. Finally, the original AM radio has been upgraded with an AM/FM stereo setup from Vintage Auto Radio that includes an iPod interface cable. New Kenwood speakers were used in the stock locations, and an additional pair of 6x9s was installed in the rear package shelf using traditional style grilles. The simple and properly restored trunk offers a new mat and a matching full-sized chrome wheel and whitewall radial tire, along with a complete jack assembly. This Bel Air's sale includes an original owner's manual, restoration receipts, a copy of the car's October 2010 Old Cars Price Guide cover feature, and restoration photos that include images of its original 265 cubic inch V8. No, your eyes aren't deceiving you; that's the correct asking price. And yes, I agree, this is one heck of a lot of car for the money. There's easily twice our asking price tied up in its build. Nobody cut any corners, the car is tight and motors down the highway just as you'd expect. This is a charming old Chevy that still rides and drives like a vintage piece, but with a few smart modifications, it's also safe, efficient, and reliable. This is exactly why we created the RKM Performance Center. Being proud members of SEMA, ARMO, HRIA and the North Carolina Motorsports Association, the RKM Performance Center is a nationally recognized shop; best known for high level OEM restorations and custom builds. This one doesn't disappoint in any way. Just one look and you can see a lot of work that has gone into this pickup. The deep blue, with a hint of purple paint has the kind of rich and deep shine that is better than anything that could have come from 1956. The chrome of the egg crate grille, bumpers, gas cap, door handles, and light surrounds all shine like mirrors. There is even a bit of attitude added to this truck with a lowered stance on aftermarket double tri-star wheels. But even with these refreshed and upgraded items, the truck doesn't lose its original personality. This model series was the beginning of the wraparound windshields, and is known for the extra flair in the fenders (especially the rear). The final touch is the real wood truck bed with the correct alternating planks between body matched metal strips. The tailored feel of this truck really is raised another notch just by stepping inside. Custom leather bucket seats have an included armrest and a nice diamond stitching pattern. This provides a blueprint for the door panels and headliner. All of the metal pieces on the inside utilize the shade of blue used on the exterior. Even with all this coordination, there are some areas for extra chrome such as on the Lokar floor shifter, custom steering wheel (with power steering), and tilting wheel column. Just like on the outside, some of the best styling elements went untouched. For example, fan-style gauge cluster is a great piece to keep because it has the same cool character that was being added to Chevy's now-iconic 1956 passenger cars. The motor is very performance oriented, but it still offers an interesting twist on originality. The last few years of this Task Force series were the first time Chevy offered the V8 under the hood. This 1956 model had its V8 substituted by the larger 283 cubic-inch motor that was available in 1957 the final year for this setup. The V8 then had performance goodies added such as a Mallory ignition, exhaust headers, and tri-power carburators, also known as three deuces, mounted on an Offenhauser intake. But trucks like this are meant to show off, even standing still, so there are plenty of chrome upgrades such as the shroud, alternator, piping, and the finned valve covers. All of this provides a nice contrast to the engine bay's paint, which also matches the exterior and interior color a final touch to this uniform appearance, and more evidence of a comprehensive build. This motor is mated to a three-speed automatic, which then sends the power to a Ford nine-inch rear end. With tubular control arms, power rack and pinion steering, and power front disc brakes, this old workhorse drives like a dream. It might seem odd to add that final blue oval part to such a loyal bow-tie truck, but trust us, you want this kind of reliability with all the added performance parts. When you want a custom vintage truck, you look for one that has great upgrades, great paint and body, without it losing its soul. Here is all of that personality in and extremely well done package.
