1957 Chevy Bel air convertible project. The car started life as a 2 dr ht and was converted into a convertible. I got this car from Alabama I did not build it! I got it just like it is from a guy that sold me other cars I'm just selling as-is to get some of the money back...anyways here is a chance to get a 57 convertible project at a great price! High bidder gets the car!The car starts and runs and stops in my yard... but its not road ready. The car needs a lot of work! The cowl tag reads like thisStyle 57-1037body V/N 813trim 654paint 802Aacc SGThe car has new floors welded in and lots of metal work and patches all over it. The frame does have X brace welded in. Some trim parts are there but I don't know if all the trim is there or not. It does have new gas tank and line. There is no glass just windshield, the doors do open and shut. The trunk lid is very rusty and does not latch. The hood is not bad but does not have a latch. The bumpers are there but old and have some rust. The engine is a small block I was told a 350 but not verified it does start and seams to run ok, but has no exhaust and it goes into gear and will drive on a trailer it does have working brakes and also has power steering! The bows are there and cylinders and power top motor also there but they will need a lot of work and maybe need replaced. The original VIN tag and cowl tag are there in good shape. The car is a big project and needs lots of work so if you want me to take more pictures or come to see the car I'm available most of the time just call and ask questions my cell is 813-478-3449. Here is a short Video of the car running just copy and past.https://youtu.be/dsGMVLRw27M The car is sold AS-IS with No warranty. If you don't have zero feedback please contact me before you bid. Buyer pays all shipping charges. The car is sold with Alabama tag receipt and bill of sale. I reserve the right to end the auction early if the car sells locally. Please feel free to call me with questions at 813-478-3449

1957 CHEVROLET BEL AIR SPORT COUPE UNRESTORED FUEL INJECTION SURVIVOR Please note that this is a private party sale! I have owned this unrestored, factory-original survivor fuel-injected sport coupe Bel Air (one of 1530 passenger factory-built fuelies) since December 1999. It is in excellent original mostly unmolested condition. This is a 283 c.i., 250 H.P. Turboglide numbers-matching car. It was assembled In Kansas City, Missouri in May 1957. It has been driven 62,000+ miles up to the present time. The engine has never been rebuilt (hence the original patina in the engine compartment) and runs great. It has a black exterior with a red/black interior. The paint is mostly factory-original and the interior is still in excellent, beautiful original condition. This is a rust-free automobile and as far as I know the car has never been hit - as you can see in some of the pics it is very straight (as we all know a black exterior is not very forgiving as it will highlight flaws such as imperfect body work, waves, wrinkles, etc.). It still has the original rubber trunk mat with the embossed encircled “57”. The fellow that I bought it from, because it had gravel chips in the rocker panel area (the 2nd owner’s house [in Nebraska] was next to a gravel road), had it repainted below the side trim. However, the majority of the paint is shiny original because the car has always been garaged. There are a few minor wear spots (mainly primer showing through the original paint) in several places as a result of constant waxing. Also, there are some gravel chips on the front part of the hood and there are minor scratches here and there. Overall, the exterior paint is in beautiful original condition. Under the hood there are several factory assembly line yellow chalk X’s (see pic) on the hood latch cover. What these X’s refer to is a puzzle but I have been told by several Chevrolet experts that these were most likely an alert to the assembly line workers that a fuel injection system was to be installed in this car. One photo of the chassis (floorboards are solid) shows one of the rear spiral shock absorbers. Another photo shows the engine suffix pad which is F418GF and this translates to Flint, April 18, Turboglide fuel injection. All of the fuel injection components are original to the car. As far as I know the Rochester 4520 fuel injection unit has never been rebuilt. It has always run well with minor tuning done every now and then. The 2nd owner, who bought it in late Fall 1957 (the first owner was a young man and for whatever reason his father made him return it to the dealership), told me when I first bought it that he was informed that this car was a factory demonstrator to promote the sales of fuel injection passenger cars and because of this they made sure that it had the best components installed to keep it running flawlessly. After the factory reps were done the car was sent to a dealership near Omaha, Nebraska where it was sold. I asked the 2nd owner if he had the original dealer paperwork for the car but it ended up getting lost or misplaced. I had him do a notarized “Certificate of Authenticity” for me regarding his history with the car. He had also written a note to the fellow that I had bought the car from detailing pretty much the same info. This car still has all of the original peripheral FI components: Vacuum wiper motor with the Electro-vac switch. Metal clip (on the firewall) to hold the electric choke “pig tail” wire/connector for the air meter.Air intake hose bracket that is attached to the driver-side radiator support (toward the bottom – see pic). Most of these original brackets ended up missing or tossed aside in about 99.9% of the original passenger car fuelies so this is an extremely rare, very hard-to-find item and very, very expensive if ever available. This item is definitely NOT a repro. Electro-vac (with the original Trico string tag) affixed by clutch head screws to the radiator support. Passenger-side exhaust manifold with no vacuum tube hole drilled like the ones for cars with carburetors. Original metal band to attach the air intake hose to the air cleaner. The 3/8-inch fuel line.Original air cleaner with after-market air hose. Original fuel filter.Original 906 distributor. It has a later model fuel pump but I have a correct long-screw fuel pump that goes with the car. Also, the 2nd owner took out the Turboglide many years ago and replaced it with an overdrive 3-speed manual trans. (the overdrive cable is disconnected and I don’t know if it ever was connected). However, he did keep the Turboglide and somehow it managed to go with the car from owner to owner. The Turboglide was recently rebuilt and will be included with all of its necessary components with the sale of the car. I succeeded in finding a fellow that rebuilds Turboglides in Oregon and between he and I managed to find many NOS parts. A fellow that I know that lives in Vancouver, BC, Canada and who owns a restored factory-built ’57 BA sport coupe fuelie is doing a ’57 Chevy fuel injection factory-built survivor passenger cars directory. He has spent a few years trying to locate the real ones and needless to say he has come across many phony clones. He said that he’s come up with approx. 35 factory survivor fuelies (out of 1530 built) in various conditions. He said that 3 of these are very nice unrestored originals - one BA sport coupe (this one) and two BA sport sedans. So as far as he knows, mine is the only very nice unrestored survivor BA FI sport coupe known in existence. Many times I have been asked by certain individuals as to why I don’t restore the car. I find it incredulous that anyone would ask that. My response to them is “If it ain’t broke why fix it?” Also, I tell them that this is an extremely rare car because of what it is and where are you going to find another one as nice as this unrestored original fuel-injected car? However, the ones that are “savvy” about fuelie cars appreciate the fact that it is, for all practical purposes, a very nice survivor with a nice patina. This is an excellent benchmark or reference car. Several years ago a fellow that lives near me was restoring his factory original BA fuelie sport coupe and he would come over from time to time to photograph, measure and take notes because his car was missing a lot of the FI items when he bought it many years ago. I was told at the place where I bought my car in Kansas that several individuals also used this car as a reference. Again, let me stress that this car is a factory-built fuel injected survivor, NOT one of the many phony clones that are prevalent in various car auctions, car shows and/or for sale at various venues from time to time. Quite a few years ago a fellow from California, who had a brother residing near where I lived, learned that I had an original fuelie. It turned out that he’s a respected authority on factory fuel-injected ‘57 Chevys. He contacted me because he wanted to see for himself if this really was a factory fuelie and not a clone. He spent several hours inspecting the car from top to bottom and he told me that this car was definitely the real thing! For anyone that is truly interested in this car I will provide contact information for this gentleman. I am open to reasonable offers (Please don’t waste my time or yours if you’re not serious about it!) I am definitely NOT interested in trades. The odds of finding an unrestored factory-original fuelie 1957 Chevrolet passenger car survivor such as this one is pretty much next to zero, especially one in this condition. So it is obviously an extremely rare car. I will include all paperwork and names that I have of previous owners of the car with the sale. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to email me. Also, if you are truly interested in buying this car you should try to view it in person or have a knowledgeable representative inspect it for you. PLEASE READ! This vehicle is sold as is, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied. A $1000 non-refundable deposit within 48 hours of close of auction either by PayPal or bank wire. The balance is payable ONLY by bank wire or cash if buyer lives nearby and must be paid within 7 days of close of auction. Vehicle and title/bill of sale will not be released until all funds have cleared. Bids from persons with zero, negative, or neutral feedback MUST contact me prior to bidding otherwise bids will be cancelled by me. ABSOLUTELY NO TRADES! Transportation of this vehicle is the responsibility of the winning bidder.

For sale is a really nice 57 Chevy Bel Air convertible. It comes with its original 283 V-8, automatic transmission (Powerglide), power top, seat belts front and rear, floor mats, dual exhaust, fender skirts, dual mirrors, padded dash, stainless trunk trim, factory spinner wheel covers, wide whitewalls, and factory AM radio. This beautifully restored Bel Air convertible is close to factory specs, including its Larkspur Blue paint with Blue Vinyl interior. This car has been used in several films and commercials including the "Car Boss" series, and a promo film for the Tampa Bay area which ran for months on the big screens at the Tampa International Airport. This car is very stock, very well restored several years ago, and one of the nicest anywhere !! It is being sold out of a local stored collection of Classic and Muscle Cars. We will assist in setting up shipping for the purchaser, either out of State, or out of the Country !

Please be sure to check out the pictures to see what all is missing/needs replaced. Be sure to ask me any questions before buying! I am relisting again due to the winning bidder who had a zero feedback and assured me he was not a flake won the bid and refused to pay.Big mistake on my part taking his word. His account name is tmacalus1. I will not accept bids if you have less than 10 feedbacks and must contact me first.I also had another knucklehead who had a big feedback rating, bid the reserve price and then retracted his bid so he will also be blocked from bidding. That guy has sold cars before so what goes around comes around. His ebay account name is snoopydog5050 so be cautious of him also. I have raised the buy it now also because of all the lowball offers I received the first time. 1957 Chevy Nomad. This is a California car and has no rust and retains all of its original sheet metal and original paint. There are not many Nomads left with the original paint. As the saying goes they are only original once. The roof was repainted about 12 years ago.The factory undercoating is still present beneath. All of the trim is original and is in incredible condition with no nicks, dents, dings or scratches. The only new trim is the rocker moldings. It's hard to believe that it would not have gotten some sort of damage after 58 years. The bumpers and interior chrome do have some pitting but all of the trim is complete. The glass is in good condition with the exception of the passenger door glass which has a crack. The interior is new except the headliner which is original and only has a very small tear near the rear liftgate. The engine is a 350 with Edelbrock intake and Holley 4 barrel carb.Trans is a turbo 350.The car has headers and new 2 1/2 stainless steel exhaust. The drum brakes are power assist with the original power booster and master cylinder having been rebuilt.Brake shoes and front and rear wheel bearings are new.New shocks. Included in the sale are the original 283 engine with power pack option(4 barrel carb),air cleaner, exhaust manifolds and powerglide transmission, generator, original wheels and hubcaps. Buyer is responsible for shipping cost of car, original engine, trans, and wheels.I will put the eng, trans.and wheels on 2 pallets and and crated so all you have to do is arrange a carrier to pick them up but they must have a pallet jack and lift gate truck. The reason I mention this is in the past I have had carriers show up expecting me to have a fork lift to load which I do not have. Any questions feel free to call Steve 805 581-5676 Car is sold as is with no warranty.

This car runs and drives nicely & the brakes are working well. It will make someone a really nice driver with a repaint. It is also a good start to a street rod type build if desired. I just got this car recently and thought I would repaint it this winter. My wife said neither she nor the kids will ride in this with no seat belts.. I found another 57 with good paint and a bolt in roll cage with belts so I have to get this one sold. This car spent it's entire life in Monmouth IL where it was sold new. The 3rd owner worked at the local Chevy dealer where he restored it in 1985 with new rockers, quarters and original style interior. I have a few old pictures of the restoration that show the new rockers and lower quarters. More recently, the car has had a brake job with new wheel cylinders, new fuel tank and sending unit along with various small mechanical repairs. The floor and frame are solid but covered in undercoat. I will get the car on jack stands soon and add images of the underside. All GM parts were supposedly used on the car with the exception of the right rear bumper, which is aftermarket. That piece has peeling chrome and needs to be replaced. For about the last 10 years this car was sitting in a barn under a car cover. Moisture got under the paint and popped it in many places and blistered all over the car. I picked off the paint in several places to be sure it is metal under the paint and not body filler. This is really a solid car that just needs stripped down and painted. It is not full of body filler. The interior is holding up well but does have some staining on the passenger door panel as shown. The headliner is original and also has some stains. The stainless all looks really nice. All the chrome looks like it will polish up nicely except for the right rear bumper. The engine is still running strong and the powerglide shifts well. They are both dripping a little oil after parking it but that is to be expected. You will need to replace the exhaust. The tail pipe has separated from the muffler. The gas guage is not currently working. You can see there is still nearly full tread on the bias ply tires. Pick up in Springfield IL or use Uship or similar logistics companies to arrange shipping. If you don't live too far away you, could drive this home. I drove it about 100 miles at 70mph with no issues. You are welcome to come view in person or send a representative for an inspection.
