It was a step side and a manual transmission so you can imagine the work I put into it just to get it to this point. I had big plans for it but this is as far as I got and now it needs to go! Too many other projects and now it just sits. It has always been garage kept. ENGINE: It is a Chevy 350 Crate Motor that was machined, honed, and bored .30 over by Bullet Machine in Southern Oregon! Turning it into a 355ci with amazing power and sound! Edelbrock Carb, Edelbrock Manifold, Edelbrock Fuel Line. Gear Drive Timing. Comp Cams 282 Cam and Lifters. HEI Distributor, Hedman Block Hugger Headers. New exhaust from headers to Flowmasters! Sounds Amazing! Starts right up and drives like a street rod should! This Motor/Tranny Combo is worth the asking price by itself! Transmission: Tranny is a 700R4 Automatic Transmission with a shift kit and stall converter. B&M Floor Shifter. Best transmission for street rods because it has overdrive which makes it perfect for highway cruising! The truck has torsion bar suspension and is lowered in the front and air bags in the rear. Perfect stance! It sits on black rally rims with chrome ring and hub. Brand new tires all around. Body has some rust as usual but not as bad as most (see pics). Floors are solid and have no rust. Body has been primered but that was years ago and it has started to come off in spots (see pics) and I never got around to the body work. Body is pretty straight, no major damage. This old workhorse was found in 2005 tucked away in the original owners barn. It is a cool surviving, original farm truck with patina and rust. Originally purchased in Romeo, MI from Carter-Rymills Chevy-Olds (still has the remains of the dealer sticker). It was registered/plated until 1981 and after that it was only driven short distances around the farm. The original owner caused the dents on the passenger side brushing against a few trees once he couldn't see well enough to drive it anymore. The truck starts right up, drives, stops and shifts good. The truck is in good mechanical condition, the Stovebolt-Six engine runs very well without smoking or burning oil. This was the last year GM produced the 235 engine and it has the original oil-bath air cleaner. This is a base factory truck with radio delete and the only factory options it has is the deluxe recirculating heater and door locks. It has manual steering and manual drum brakes. The interior is in ok condition for the age but has tears in the vinyl seat that have only been getting worse. The body has rust along with older floor, fender and rocker panel repairs. The front cab mounts are rotted and wood spacers were placed inbetween. The wood bed is falling apart. No cracked glass but windshield has a wiper mark. Since 2005 it has received many new parts and it had been driven daily for several years. I was focused on making sure that it was mechanically sound while leaving its original look. New driver and passenger lap seatbelts were installed. There are less than a thousand miles on the brakes/wheel cylinders and rebuilt master cylinder. The clutch and slave cylinder only a few hundred miles on them. Here is a list of some of the new and replaced parts. - New Radiator although the paint is now peeling off - New Brake Pads - New Wheel Cylinders - New Clutch - New Slave Cylinder - Rebuilt Master Cylinder - New Battery and battery box - New Chrome side mirror - New glove box - New Seatbelts - New Dome lamp The carburetor should be rebuilt soon since it bogs when you push the pedal but once the truck is warmed up it seems to be fine. The exhaust pipe will need to be replaced as it has pin holes and is broken in a couple spots (currently held together with hose clamps). It could use new tires, the current ones have developed light cracks but hold air and are drivable. The truck is complete except for missing its hubcaps. Comes with the original 1962 Owner's Manual. I have too many projects so it needs to find a new home and I want to see it enjoyed by someone else. Truck is located in Ypsilanti, MI. I call her Sheila Nova The Deathtrap since it has the same kind of seat belts you see on an airplane, a solid steering column and a steel dash. One accident in this amazing vehicle and your going to die. But Sheila, she looks good, and she drives like a dream. More of a cruiser than a hot rod, but with the Nova's light weight (not one of them full-figured women) she can easily take a large 8 cylinder (as long as you build up her back side with some suspension) and can easily be converted into one of them high-faluting drag strip cars. She is a true classic, none of these "power features" everyone raves about. And I mean none, this lady requires you to exercise your muscles, on the windows, the mirrors, the doors, that gas tank cap, even the brakes don't use power. And it's a 2-60 airconditioning system (2 windows open at 60 miles an hour), though she does have the shin level vents to create that additional airflow. Alas, since I have started the law practice I have not gotten to work on her or even drive her like I used to and sitting in the garage for months on end is doing no one any good.
