Please read the entire description before bidding! You are bidding on a 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 Sunliner. My father purchased this car with the intention of recreating the 406 4 speed that he bought new in 1962. . The car is an original 390 automatic. He began collecting parts to convert it to a 406 with Tri-power and the 4 speed manual transmission. Unfortunately he lost his battle to cancer and never got the chance to do so. I do not have enough time myself to finish converting the car so I have decided to sell it. The car was repainted prior to my dad purchasing it. The body is very solid and straight. The odometer reads 12,xxx miles but I would assume it is actually 112,xxx. We had a custom canvas convertible top installed on the car to update the look. A high end upholstery shop made the top and did an amazing job. The top alone cost $1800. As you can see in the pictures, it sits on a set of 17" Shelby style wheels and Nitto performance tires. The tires are practically brand new. The chrome appears to be original and would need to be re-chromed to be show quality. It still presents fairly well but does have some pitting. The car runs and drives good. It might need a neutral safety switch or something because you have to put the car in neutral to start it. It will not start in Park. Everything else appears to work, including the power windows and power top.The auction is for only for the car, with the original 390 and automatic transmission. Note: The engine pictured and additional conversion parts are not included in the auction! I have a fresh 406 motor, tri-power, shorty headers, 4 speed transmission, rear, new performance clutch, manual pedals, and other conversion parts that I will sell separately. I would work out a package deal with the car for the right price. The motor was purchased from Pop's Performance center. It is fresh and includes their "street heat" performance heads. I am selling my 1962 Ford Galaxie XL 500 Convertible. Car is in good shape but is not a show car. It has a very reliable/dependable original 352 CI motor with 114k on it. It has the original tranny that works great. Dual exhaust with some pretty cool exhaust tips. I recently had the Carburetor rebuilt and it runs awesome. I had the interior redone professionally with new seats and carpet. It has an electronic ignition. I just recently put 4 New Cooper tires on it. I put chrome valve covers and a chrome air cleaner on but I have the originals. I also have the original hubcaps. It is a great summer cruiser and I get a ton of comments from people on the style of the car. You just don't see to many of these on the road anymore. I purchased this vehicle from a man who bought it from the original owners daughter. Here are the small issues with the vehicle. The dash pad , armrests and center console could use a dye job to match the new seats. The trunk lock cylinder just recently broke so I can't open it. The heater core is disconnected but I never drove the car in the winter so I never cared about fixing it. It has one small spot on the driver and passenger side door that if you wanted to restore the car you would have to do but they never bothered me because you don't really notice them and I never pretended that it was a show car. For someone who wanted to finish the car and restore it the car is really not that far off from being a show car. Mechanically the car is great. I always garage it and never drive it in the rain. Any questions don't hesitate to ask. It really is a great car.

For sale is a classic 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 Sunliner Convertible. It has the original matching-numbers 352 FE big block engine and original Cruise-o-Matic auto transmission. The engine runs smooth and the car drives down the road really nicely. The restoration of this car includes:- new interior (carpet, seats, seat belts, door panels, window cranks, sill plates)- new convertible top- new rear bumper- new tiresThe body is very straight with no rust, and the paint is ok, but would need touching up/repainting to be perfect. The photos don't show all the exterior stainless and aluminum trim for the car, but I have it all (seen in the trunk in the last photo), including brand new rear finish panels and brand new rocker panel molding. I don't have the correct trim clips to attach a few pieces of the the trim, which is why it isn't attached/mounted yet. This car has been in our family since 1969 when my mom and dad gave it as a graduation present to my older brother. He gave it to me in 1972. It's the vehicle I drove to college, commuted to my first job after I graduated, and picked up my wife on our first date. Sometime in the 1980's my dad had the engine rebuilt, the interior redone and the exterior repainted. My oldest boy used it to take his first serious girlfriend to the prom. However, it has sat in my garage for the last 10 years, until last year when I had my friend Bill Bickler, an experienced classic car mechanic, go completely through the vehicle replacing hoses etc. to make sure everything was "up to snuff." I've driven it occasionally and it still catches the eye of people on the street. Recently, the owner of a local women's clothing store used it in a photo shoot. That was fun -- and the occasion for the photographs which you see here. I love the car, but I just don't use it much. 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 XL Convertible. A real G-Code car with 406 cubic inch V8 factory rated at 405 horsepower. Three Holley 2v carbs; top-loader 4-speed transmission; 3.50 (open) ratio 9" rear end. Built at the Mahwah, New Jersey plant July 21, 1962 as a "DSO" ( Domestic Special Order) vehicle. Car #84 in the 62 Ford Galaxie Registry. Raven black paint; Rangoon red vinyl interior; and white convertible top. This car underwent a full, frame-off restoration by its' second owner in 1992. He had purchased it in Washington, D. C. where it had been sitting in a garage since 1972, with only 62,000 miles on the odometer. Sold in 2007 to third owner; again in 2010 to fourth owner; and current ( 5th) owner acquired car in 2012. Always garaged and pampered. Won "Best of Show" AACA award in 1996 ( emblem on grill).
