Kept in top shape and driven fewer than 2,000 miles a year, it wasn't until 2000 that the car went to its next owner, a collector in Warsaw, Kentucky, with 70,024 miles on the odometer. Another careful keeper, the car accumulated fewer than 3,500 miles over the next 7 years. Passing through the hands of 2 more collectors who have used it sparingly, the car still shows well today and is an amazing original timepiece having only been driven 74,917 miles in the last half a century. The factory Arctic White finish, which was repainted some time ago, is complimented by an uplevel "Custom" Saddle interior with leather seat trim and genuine wood accents. The Riviera is equipped with factory air conditioning, power steering, windows, seats, and truck release, and an AM/FM radio—a new option in 1963. Underhood, the engine compartment showcases the powerful Buick Wildcat V8 which is mated to an optional automatic transmission. The car's factory owner's manual and all tools delivered new with the car —are included. This is a spectacular fully equipped first-year Riviera, a nice survivor that may be enjoyed as is. Combining a rare and attractive color combination with originality that is unlikely to be surpassed, here is a Riviera that will always stand out. We have many more photographs of this car, please click on any image to be taken to our full-size image list! In the late 1950s, GM lacked a personal luxury car to compete with the highly successful Ford Thunderbird—a uniquely styled, two-door, four-passenger car. To fill this gap, an experimental Cadillac design (the XP-715) was created. Its angular styling was reportedly inspired by GM styling chief Bill Mitchell's visit to London during the period, when he was struck by the sight of an elegant, custom-bodied Rolls Royce. He later said that "knife-edged" styling was what he wanted for the new model, but with a lower profile. The design itself was penned by stylist Ned Nickles. However, Cadillac management was not particularly interested in such a vehicle and in 1960 the project was thrown open for competition by the other divisions. Buick, desperate to revive its flagging sales, enlisted the aid of the McCann-Erickson advertising agency to create its presentation. Buick won, and the finished design was adapted to a shortened version of Buick's cruciform frame. The design was substantially the same as the original, although the hidden headlights—originally concealed in the fender grilles—were initially omitted for cost reasons. The Riviera was introduced on October 4, 1962, as a 1963 model, with the 325 hp 401 cu in "Nailhead" V-8 as the only available engine, fitted with dual exhaust as standard equipment, and the turbine drive the only transmission, at a base price of $4,333; typical delivered prices with options ran upwards of $5,000. With the same power as the larger Buicks and less weight, the Riviera had sparkling all-around performance: Motor Trend found it capable of running 0–60 mph in 8 seconds or less, the standing quarter mile in about 16 seconds, and an observed top speed of 115 miles per hour. Inside, the Riviera featured a four-place cabin with front bucket seats separated by a center console with floor shifter and storage compartment that was built into the instrument panel, and bucket-style seats in the rear. Upholstery choices included all-vinyl, cloth and vinyl, or optional leather. A deluxe interior option included real walnut inserts on the doors and below the rear side windows. Popular extra-cost options included a tilt steering wheel, power windows, power driver's seat, air conditioning, a remote-controlled side view mirror, and white sidewall tires. Our Ebay Policies: Significant Cars is one of the largest Collector Car Brokers and Dealers in the Country.  Since 2003 we have worked hard to "change the way collector cars find new homes" by providing unparralleled web presentation of the cars we are representing.  Most of our cars have over 30 photographs, and these can be viewed by visiting our website (our eBay handle dot com), or by clicking on any of the photographs in the black background area of our EBay listings.  We welcome your call with any questions about any of our listings at anytime at 800-837-9902 and certainly encourage your personal inspection of any of the cars we are selling-just call us and we will be happy to set up an appointment for your to see and test drive the car. We realize that eBay is a difficult venue to properly evaluate an item as complex as an automobile.  You can feel secure bidding with confidence on any of our cars since we guarantee your satisfaction!  Should you win the auction and come to see the car and decide you do not want it for any reason, no negative feedback will result, any deposit you may have paid will be cheerfully refunded. Check out the buy it now price! You are bidding on a 1963 Buick Riviera with a custom paintjob. I priced it reasonably low if you compare it to the other cars around here, you'll pay about the same for a stock car that needs paint and interior work! Let alone have a reliable rebuilt drivetrain. My desire for a different project is your gain! I'm looking for an old school GM split window pickup truck. I cleaned the car quickly to look somewhat presentable. It needs a final buff and thorough cleaning of wax residue from the first cut n buff. It's been sitting in my garage for about 2-3 months as I installed some parts that were removed during paint. *The factory original 401 Nailhead was rebuilt with a mild cam. There is probably two (2-5) miles on the rebuilt drivetrain! *The original Dynaflow 2 speed transmission was rebuilt at the same time. *The floors and trunk were replaced. *The door handles, emblems and body trim were eliminated. *The hood was louvered and looks awesome with the flame tips leading your eyes to them. *New exhaust with Cherry Bomb mufflers. *New gas tank with new lines. A new white headliner and the all new white vinyl seat interior (everything was ordered from OPGI). New door panels (front and back). I did save the original wood panels and trim incase the new owner wanted to reinstall them later. New white Mooneyes steering wheel. The center console was painted black to compliment the new black rug. I blacked out the entire dash leaving only the factory trim pieces in the original stainless look (the trim was not rechromed just buffed with a steel 000 wool pad). The front seatbelts were installed, but the rear lap belts were not in stock. The car sits 3 inches lower with the fresh Jamco lowering kit, which consists of shorter coils and shocks all around. The brand new blacked out 15 inch American Racing rims and new thin whitewall tires (2-5 miles on them) compliment the car nicely. Simple, clean and they don't grab any attention away from the extensive custom paintjob. If you are serious I can send you an I-phone video of the car running, just text/call me at (203)521-7858. Connecticut is a NO TITLE state for classics. I did not register the vehicle, I will sell it with a Bill of Sale that will contain all my pertinent information. Bad points at this time: -No weatherstripping installed or included. Rubber gasket on the front small vent windows is brittle. -Needs front end alignment with the new wheels and tires. During braking the car shifts a little to the left. -The trunk is bare, no spare and or anything else in there. I do have several original parts that I will throw in like the door wood panel with the molding for the front and rear, the original brown steering wheel, and some trim gaskets. I will also include the "original" drip rails with an all new felt kit (still in the box). -Some lights might not function at this time because either I have not updated the bulbs and or not connected them. The factory harnesses and fuse boxes are in place (no bird's nests). -The front grille and or bumpers were not rechromed. I will include the front headlight grilles, trim and lights too! -Wipers arms are not installed. The wiper motor does run when you turn the wiper knob on the dash! I'm being honest by pointing out all the minor necessary details I can, obviously if you think it's too much work please do not bid and or complain later. I want to move onto another project. I encourage everyone to inspect the vehicle in person, so nothing I described above is misconstrued. The car is located in Trumbull, Connecticut (approx. an hour from NYC). If you have any further questions feel free to contact me on my personal cell phone (203)521-78 five eight. I work all different kinds of hours, so please leave a message and I will return your call as promptly as I can! The buyer, YOU, are responsible for shipping. I will make time for your scheduled transportation pickup. The car is sold as is, thanks for your time and interest.

We are offering for sale a beautiful 1963 Buick Riviera from Tennessee. The miles are 45,764. I do not know if they are correct or over, so I will have to sell them as over. I can tell you I have several receipts for the car and none have more then 45,000 miles on them and they date back several years, so the miles could be correct. This riviera has a 1965 Riviera front grill and the headlights are hidden behind the clam shells. The lights shine threw the clam shells and work fine. I have driven the car at night and it works fine. I have the original grill and head light assemblies and it can be put back to the original look in a couple hours, the parts go with the car. We liked this look so we did not put it back to original. This is a numbers matching car. The motor has been professionally rebuilt and runs great. I have driven the car over 400 miles . Drive it any were. This Riviera was sold new at the Buick dealership in Nashville to the to the Honorable Judge Thomas Shriver. He kept the car until his death. Over 40 years. His family sold the car in 2006. The car went to Alabama and then to Baltimore Md were the new owner had the motor professionally rebuilt in 2007. He also had it professionally painted Marina Blue in 2009. It still looks nice. It does have a few chips and imperfections as it has been driven and the paint is a few years. It still looks nice enough to win the sponsors choice award at the all buick show in Lockport, N.Y. The sponsor was Mike Smith Buick of Lockport. They pick this car as there favorite in the show. The interior is new. The carpet, seats, dash, and door panels were redone by a professional shop with over 30 years in the business. Looks great. The car is rust free. All original sheet metal. All nice and sold under. Floors, frame and trunk. Get in and go. I would, and have. Air condition works. Windows, seat, radio all work. If you have any questions call Gary at 716 679 7755 between 10am and 11pm N.Y. time. You are welcome to come check it out or send someone to do it for you. We do take trades or cash. Thanks for looking.

If not for a certain split-window Corvette, a very good argument could be made that this was the most spectacular car built in 1963, and today the design is holding up beautifully, with chiseled good looks that look like nothing else on the road. And while these cars were always second-class citizens in the collector car world, the market has recently discovered how gorgeous they are to look at and how wonderful they are to drive. As a result, prices are inching up steadily and finding a good, solid, original car is getting more challenging all the time. Quite honestly, if this one doesn't sell, I’m going to keep it for myself. The cowl tag says this one was originally code H Glacier Blue, which was very light and icy, but today it's a lot closer to perhaps code F Marlin Blue with just a touch of gunmetal gray mixed in. So it's not totally authentic, but it looks spectacular in every way. Hailing from California, this super straight Riv wears the paint extremely well, with ripple-free bodywork, good gaps, and crisp character lines that make the most of Bill Mitchell's greatest effort. Finish quality is very good, certainly in line with the very reasonable price tag, and as far as we can tell, that's all original sheetmetal on the car. The doors open and close easily without a big slam and gaps are good all around. The cool creases on the roof are almost sharp enough to give you a paper cut and if you sight down the sides of the car, you'll find that someone invested a lot of time in blocking the bodywork before a drop of paint was sprayed. The chrome is probably original, and in very good condition, but there are a few light signs of age and the dime-sized plastic Riviera emblem on the nose is pretty deteriorated, but otherwise it presents quite well. Like I said, I like this one enough to make it a permanent part of my personal collection. I'm inclined to believe that most of the code 787 black cloth and vinyl interior is original and holding up rather well. The funky brocade cloth inserts are pure 1960s cool and aside from the passenger's front seat back, which is a slightly different color (a little more gray) it appears to be factory-original stuff. It shows some minor signs of use and age, but the preservation is quite impressive overall. Seat belts have been fitted and the carpets may have been replaced, but there's no question that the door panels and dash are original. And speaking of the dash, it's a beautiful combination of black camera-case textured surfaces and brushed metal, a very period look that seems upscale and elegant to us today. The two big, round dials for the driver include a speedometer (with speed alert) and warning lights for the secondary functions. You'll note that this car has factory A/C which has been recently serviced and filled with R134a refrigerant so it'll be easy to recharge should it be necessary in the future. The original AM/FM radio still lives up high in the dash and the ventilation controls are neat aircraft-type sliders under the dash hood. Demerits include a thumb-sized hole in the headliner above the passenger front window and a rather cheesy homemade shift quadrant indicator in the console that has gotten wet (it actually looks like it was made on an inkjet printer), and, of course, the clock doesn't work. On the other hand, the gauges are bright and crisp, the chrome and trim is excellent, and there are Buick floor mats keeping it protected. The trunk is upholstered in gray carpet which looks fantastic even if it's not totally correct, and there's a full-sized spare and jack assembly just in case. If you haven't experienced the power of a Nailhead V8, this is a great opportunity. Actually, I should say it's torque that you'll be experiencing, and this big luxury coupe moves like a muscle car thanks to the robust 401 cubic inch Buick V8. Not shared with any other division, this smooth powerplant is the ideal choice for the Riviera and with a few modest upgrades, it's a show piece as much as a driving force. Obviously it's dressed for show, with a chrome air cleaner, finned valve covers and matching valley cover, as well as correct corporate Turquoise paint on the block itself. You can see evidence of both clean California living as well as recent service work in the master cylinder, A/C system, and alternator, and the overall condition is quite impressive. Yes, it has been driven, but a weekend spent really scrubbing the little nooks and crannies would make this a show-worthy engine bay. It also runs superbly, starting with a surprisingly robust bark from the custom Flowmaster dual exhaust system and there are no disappointments on the road where its torque curve is as wide and flat as Death Valley. The original Turbine Drive transmission was a descendant of the Dynaflow, but when it was time for repairs, it was instead replaced with a more familiar TH350 3-speed automatic which is responsive and crisp-shifting and a lot easier for which to find parts and service. Tallish 3.23 gears in back make it a fantastic highway cruiser that feels like it could run forever without getting tired. Smooth road manners, powerful brakes with upgraded front discs, and a well-sorted suspension give this car the feel of a much more contemporary machine. The 16-inch polished American Racing wheels are a dramatic statement that works really well (I wouldn't change a thing!) and wear tall 235/60/16 front and 255/65/16 rear Goodyear radials that fill the fenders properly. Early Rivieras are not going to get more affordable and if I had to pick five cars that were going to be worth more in five years than they are today, this car would be on that list. Great colors, smart upgrades, and a killer look all add up to a first-rate hobby car at a price that just can't be beat. SeatsMap LightMetallic PaintRadial tiresRear-Wheel DriveV-Style EngineThe short version of this 1963 Buick Riviera is that it's a super-clean California car with factory A/C and some mild appearance upgrades that give it awesome presence. If you are looking for a real head turner this is it. This 1963 Reviera has a 40l Nail head with a rebuilt carburerator, New alternator and the engine does not burn any or leak any oil. Motor has a few mile on it but most of this miles are highway miles and like said moror runs great. Tranmission has been checked and shift very smooth. The interior looks like brand new with no cracks, I donot believe the back seat has been used very much its in excellent condition. Exterior of the car is in excellent shape, and the car has always been garaged. Tires are like new with rims that really make this car sharp.Other cars of this qaliety sell for more then I am asking.
