1964 Buick Riviera 425 nail head motor, 400 trans, all original 67,000 original miles. Floor pans and trunk pan rust free, body in decent shape the only rust on the car is on the right quarter panel on the back side that I can tell. Missing the rear bumper, the right quarter panel trim and the radio. The vehicle needs a full restoration. Does not run but motor turns manually on the crank freely. Wouldn't take much to get running. Bucket seats, console car, tilt steering column. The interior has been removed to take pictures of the floor pan and trunk pan. Can send more pictures if needed. It was purchased in 1978 by the previous owner and has not been driven for a couple of decades. The first two pictures of the car were professionally taken of this car in 1978 The car was Garage-Kept and a Sunday driver. "465 Wildcat" 425 cubic inch V-8 with Carter 4BBL & Auto tranny Wishbone frame (I think) and independent suspension (similar to a Corvette) Former owner is deceased, so not much history is available. Title in 1978 had mileage at approx 75K with 119K on the odometer currently. This is a beautiful project car ready for restoration. "Luxury Sports Sedan" with a muscle car drive terrain. Factory bucket seats and center console/shift lever Factory air and electric windows - 1964 luxuries! As-Is and Where-Is The car does not run; it would be a mistake to try to start it without a fair amount of prepping. (Don't ask to wrench on it BTW) It appears to be complete. This car was built to be driven and enjoyed and has approx. 1000 miles on it since completion. Runs great and is very reliable. Here is the rundown: History – We purchased the car over 3 years ago from a guy in PA that was attempting to rebuild the car and lost interest. Once it arrived, we knew that we had two choices. Resell the car at a loss as it was falsely misrepresented to us or strip it down and start all over. We chose the latter. So over 3 years and a whole boat load of money later she’s finally done and she is sweet! Drivetrain – The engine is a 401 Nailhead that has been totally rebuilt. We do have the specs/photos available. (Before moving on let me say that we are aware that 1964 didn't offer the 401 from the factory but rather the 425. So why is there a 401 in this car you might ask? Well, to be frank it is what came with the car when we bought it. After we were knee deep in the car and getting it back together is when our research showed us that it was not the original motor. However, since the motor was already rebuilt and runs super strong, we decided to leave the 401 Nailhead. Hope that clears up any confusion.) Now back to the details. The 401 is mated to Buicks version of the 400 turbo automatic transmission. It’s a factory power steering, power brake, AC car. Complete new wiring harness from Southern Rods. Ceramic coated long tube headers and new Magnaflow Hush Power mufflers. Edlebrock carb and aftermarket chrome breather cover. We do have the original carb and cover that goes with it. We also installed new AC made by Southern Rods here in town. It’s their version of Vintage Air and it works great! Exterior – This is where a lot of time and money has been spent. The car had some rust when it arrived so we sent to car to our friends at Harris and Son’s Auto Body and told them to go to work. They had the car for close to a year. They replaced the front floors pans and right rear passenger pan and did some rear quarter work. Once the car was totally rust free, prepped and primed, we decided to go with a beautiful, custom Satin blue paint as we wanted this car to be different. We shaved a lot of the side moldings and trim for a cleaner look. It turned out absolutely stunning and is one of the coolest paint jobs that I have ever seen. The bumpers are original and in pretty good shape but are not new. The majority of the other exterior parts such as the grill, window moldings etc. were cleaned, polished and reused. All the jambs were painted to match and the engine bay was blacked out. Underneath – The underside was coated in black to give it and clean and uniform look. Interior – Lots of new stuff here! New seat covers and seat foam. New carpet and floor mats. Recovered the rear deck and kick panels. Re-dyed the original dash cover. Original door panels, gauges, steering wheel and headliner. All in nice shape although the steering is showing its age and has some minor cracking. Updated heat/AC controls. New stereo with Ipod/Aux ports hidden in the cigarette lighter. Interior lights work as well! Suspension – The Riv retains the factory power drum brakes and it stops really well. We rebuilt the front center link and replaced all 4 tie rod ends so the car drives straight down the road. We debated on lowering it but did not so it is still at the stock ride height. It was also just aligned as well. Wheel/Tires – Brand new Ridler wheels. 18x8 up front and 20x9 in the rear. They are paired with new Z rated Hercules tires. 235/45/18 front and 245/45/20 rear. This wheel/tire combo looks awesome! Known issues – Couple of rock chips on the hood due to our lovely highway construction here. Aforementioned steering wheel. Title – Clean SC title. Buick : Riviera Base Hardtop 2-Door Stunning and Extremely High Quality 1964 Riviera

This beautiful and highly original 1964 Riviera is a bone dry, completely rust-free original panel car that is an exceptional example of the breed. Finished in its stunning original color combination of Marlin Blue over blue interior it also retains its numbers matching original and fully rebuilt 425 cubic inch "465 Wildcat" engine backed by its original (and new-for-1964) Super Turbine 400 transmission. Options include factory air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, tilt steering wheel and even the "Speed Minder" speedometer.  I’ve owned this car for a number of years and purchased it while it was still in its original, yet faded, original paint. The car was recently stripped to bare metal (with all panels removed) and given a concours level base/clear repaint with close attention paid to making sure the fit, finish and even the Marlin Blue color were all as-new or better. The bumpers were redone with “show chrome” and all of the exterior stainless was polished. Photos simply do not do it justice. The best part about the car, however, is its chassis and underbody. It is completely and utterly rust-free with all original factory primer and blue paint visible- no “cover up” undercoating or black slop, patch panels, new floors, or anything like that- all virgin original metal. I’ve included some photos, but again, it really doesn’t do it justice. I spent a few days under there cleaning it with Simple Green and then preserving it with some Boeing “Boeshield” protectant to preserve the great original finishes. Also note the photo of the topside of the trunk floor- the body of this car is simply amazing. Unlike most first-gen Rivieras this one has never been rusted, and those who know these cars realize the rarity of this.  The interior is exceptional and has new seat foam and seat covers, a new correct headliner, recovered sun visors, and mint original door panels. The dash top pad has cracks in it and I installed a Coverlay dash topper. It looks very nice but obviously a concours judge or Riviera expert would spot it. All of the gauges and lights work as-new and the only item that doesn’t function perfectly is the original AM radio. It turns on and makes some noise through the speaker but no music. The dash aluminum is all great with the exception of one wrinkled corner on the glovebox door. All of the interior chrome is excellent. The trunk has a new correct trunk mat and spare tire cover from Clark’s along with the original jack, tools, and spare.  Mechanically the car is rock solid and has been completely serviced/ restored. As mentioned the original engine has been rebuilt and is very strong. The original transmission shifts perfectly and is smooth and quiet. The original carburetor has been professionally rebuilt as has the alternator- the later still retains its original ink stamps even. All of the brakes are completely rebuilt with new wheel cylinders, new master, new hoses and new shoes. The exhaust has new resonators, muffler and new tail pipes installed on the cars original head pipes. It has four brand new radial tires and wheel alignment. The radiator has been re-cored, the heater core replaced, all new hoses, all new belts, new battery, and all other “service” items and fluids are fresh. Oh, the gas tank was boiled out and all rubber components in the fuel system are new Ethanol-rated ones as well. The factory air conditioning is all there but I have never attempted to charge it, if it is that hot out I drive a modern car. The Speed-Minder works as do all exterior lamps, signals, etc. It runs, drives, and performs just as a proper Riviera should.  I think you’d be hard pressed to find a nicer 1964 Riviera. The integrity of this car along with the quality and extent of the recent restoration work done during my ownership set it apart, and I know these cars very well. These are magnificent, breathtaking, certified Milestone collector cars and one of Bill Mitchell's best designs of all time. If you’ve been looking for a special one, in great colors, and not just another “lipstick on a pig” example this I encourage you to come take a look at this one.
