1969 SS 427 (Z-24) Impala Custom 2 door hardtop For the discriminating enthusiast, If you are looking for something unique and rare and not at every cruise or car show you have attended, this is it. This vehicle is a real 1969 SS 427 numbers matching (Z-24 option code) Impala Custom. It was also one of the featured cars seen in the December 2014 issue of Super Chevy Magazine on page 32. This car was ordered new by my father and passed on to me in 1971. The G.M. 8" rallye wheels were installed on the car and the car was also undercoated before leaving the dealership, both items were done at a cost of $227.56, It still has all original GM sheet metal. Only 2,455 of these cars were ever produced. There are no exact numbers from GM on how many of these cars were ordered and built with a front bench seat. I have been told less than 122.The car currently has 57,021 original miles and only 1,421 miles since a complete frame off restoration. Over 1,430 hours & $42,000 in parts and materials were invested in the rebuild. It is probably the nicest documented 1969 SS 427 Impala Custom Coupe on the planet. The vehicle was completely disassembled, and stripped using razor blades, all parts were metal prepped and epoxy primed, then sealed with DP-90 and shot with 4 coats of PPG single stage black urethane then color sanded and buffed to a flawless finish (note: all of the paint finishes i.e. gloss, or satin or flat were put back as they came from the factory) . All of the original chrome trim, bumpers and guards were re-plated by Advance plating in Nashville Tennessee. All of the stainless was also polished. The car has power steering, power front disc brakes, Factory original Air conditioning with new A-6 compressor and hoses converted to 134 Freon, cools down to 38 degrees, front bench seat, CB code turbo 400 transmission, GM code 12 bolt with G80 code 273 positraction rear end with F-41 suspension including 4 new Eaton heavy duty F-41 coil springs , am fm radio, and code U73 Stainless steel 1 piece rear antennae, tilt column, sport grip steering wheel, new G.M. under hood and trunk lid lights, New under hood insulator with the original G.M. metal square clips, new Coker red ring radials, It also has the original Goodyear red ring bias ply spare tire in the trunk, (the G.M. tilt column, sport grip steering wheel and am/fm radio were added during the restoration process) The tilt column was completely rebuilt before installation. The original standard steering column and original key goes with the sale.During the rebuild the Original Heavy duty Harrison radiator was re-cored, the vehicle has the factory heavy duty alternator which was rebuilt to factory spec's, The car was ordered with front and rear factory bumper guards, the original front and rear factory floor mats are still in the car, it has the D 34 optional visor vanity mirror, a 1 of a kind custom in dash Tach was built and installed. (in the same hole the factory clock would go in) I also have the original clock and a new nos GM electric clock that is included, the car has a new windshield and back glass all of the glass is the original date code tinted glass except the windsheild., the new exhaust system has clamped (not welded) aluminized pipes with walker original mufflers. This car also has Factory seat belts and shoulder harnesses.The engine work was completed by Greg Walker with Walker Custom Engine Performance. The numbers matching LI code 427 390 horse engine is still standard bore. It was completely rebuilt with new piston rings, cam and crank bearings. The crank was also polished, a new correct lift and duration stock hydraulic cam and lifters was installed along with a new Melling high volume oil pump, new brass freeze plugs were installed in the block, the original numbers matching heads were rebuilt using hardened seats (for today’s non leaded gas), and bronze guides for durability. The stock rocker arms were replaced with roller tip long slot rocker's from Comp cams. A three angle valve job was also completed during the head rebuild process, The original type GM 4 piece oil pan gasket was replaced with a Felpro 1 piece rubber gasket. Currently it has a set of Hooker ceramic coated headers. I put a 1967 L-68 Corvette 400 horsepower high rise oval port tri-power intake and carb set up on this car in 1971 (The GM 427 tri power intake set up was produced for Corvette only and only for 3 years total. The one on this car was the very first year of production. This particular 1967 intake style (oval port high Rise) was only produced for the first year by GM in 1967 and is very rare, the 68 and 69 versions, whether they were 400 horse oval port or the rectangular port 435 horse were low rise intake units made by GM for hood clearance because of the Corvette body change and hood design in 68 and 69) . The carb’s, linkage and all fuel lines, fittings etc are brand new . I also have the original intake and a big block 390 horse Quadrajet carb, Since the complete rebuild only non-ethanol gas has been put in the car.The correct factory exhaust manifolds and new hardware to put the engine back completely original are included with the sale. The original distributor has a petronix electronic module with matching black coil and date coded original type black Packard ignition wires. The fan clutch and 7 blade fan blade are all date code correct. All of the suspension componets were rebuilt to original specs, All new fuel lines, gas tank, sending unit, brakes and brake lines, the car has a new set of G. M. N.O.S. 2 piece disc rotors on the front. The original G-80 12 bolt rear end was completely disassembled and rebuilt with all new bearings, seals, and posi-traction GM clutch pack. The original GM 273 ratio ring gear and pinion with new crush sleeve was re-installed and set up to factory specs. The interior was also restored as needed, with a new air conditioning dash pad, new front and back seat covers, (I have the original seat covers also) Dynamat sound deadener was installed over the entire floor and behind the rear seat back area. Then new original type GM tar paper floor insulation was installed along with the new jute and new carpet.. Riding in this car is as quite as a factory new Impala. A custom made (indoor only) ultra soft California car cover is included in this sale. I also have additional current photos as of 8-11-2016 should you need them sent to you. I have the original build sheet, a protect o plate, copy of window sticker. This is an original southern car, ordered at Nalley Chevrolet in Atlanta and built in Doraville Georgia. This car runs and drives great. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. Everything works great except for the dash clock which works when it wants to. Car has been repainted original color at one time and looks good. Trim/chrome/glass is in great shape. Body is in great shape and no rust anywhere. Doors/top/hood/trunk open and close nicely as you would expect. Interior appears original and is in good shape but starting to show age. Powered by a 350 V8 4-BRL that makes great power with no smoke on startup or driving. 350 Hydromatic transmission shifts smoothly and the rear axle is geared for the highway and has posi-traction. Power steering and brakes makes driving effortless and this car has a very smooth ride. Car has many great options such as Air conditioning, Cruise control, Speed warning buzzer, Map light in rear view mirror, Bucket seats with headrest, Floor shift with center console, Sport steering wheel, Power convertible top with boot, AM FM radio, Front and rear bumperettes and Dual exhaust. Car is in good condition and has a recent brake job, new fuel tank and sending unit, rear springs and shocks. Brand new tires on Rally wheels and have the original wheels and wire wheel covers included also. Whenever I get this car out it makes people smile and give the thumbs up. Take this 1969 Chevy Impala for example. The great look is accentuated by the oversized wheels that look right, a funky color combination, and is powered by a strong-running small block V8. Full-sized luxury muscle is red hot right now, and nobody does it better than the Impala. The big Imp carries itself well, like a heavyweight prizefighter in formalwear. As a super clean southern car, you can tell how nice this one is at a single glance. You'll be even more impressed to learn that the paint job is about seven years old, and it's holding up quite well. They used the original code 59 Frost Green color, and it's the perfect hue on the late-60s icon. There's a lot of sheetmetal to straighten and it's all in very good shape with only a few dings here and there that are inevitable if you drive your car. Unlike many of its contemporaries, the Impala doesn't carry a lot of excess chrome, so the simple body side moldings show off the arrow-straight bodywork but don't offer a lot of flash, and both bumpers are excellent. The lack of a vinyl top gives it a super sleek look and the car's length is accentuated by the rub strip running along its flanks. And, of course, it just wouldn't be a high-performance Chevy without the engine call-out on the front fender; in this case, it's a '327.' And if you want impressive, check out the interior! Those are the original seats, wrapped in optional vinyl upholstery, and while there's a split in the driver's backrest, it's probably not major enough to require replacement. The carpet and door panels are also original and in good shape, with only minor discoloration that simply comes from age, not neglect or abuse. The headliner might be newer and the dash pad looks great. I kind of like that about original cars that have been so carefully maintained, it's like automotive archaeology to try to figure out what's original and what's new. The instrument panel is massive, offering a wide speedo and clustering all the major controls right in front of the driver, framing everything with a very nice steering wheel with a cool little Impala logo in its center. The original AM radio remains at your fingertips, and it has factory A/C that's still blowing cold with good old R12 refrigerant inside. As you'd expect, the trunk is massive, and has nothing to hide with a solid floor and a full-sized spare. Under about an acre of hood, you'll find a smooth-running, numbers-matching Chevy 327 and a nicely detailed engine bay. Completely stock, including the air cleaner, valve covers, and other frequently replaced items, it almost looks too good. Nah, who am I kidding, this is the kind of car that will draw a crowd with its humble originality, and the engine bay is simply showing off a lifetime of clean living in a warm climate. Heck, even the exhaust manifolds are crisp and pit-free. Of course the big Imp has power steering, but power brakes are oddly absent from the options list, although the binders work just fine out on the road. The transmission is a TH350 3-speed automatic feeding a 10-bolt rear with highway-friendly gears inside. And the 20-inch American Racing wheels with silver centers and staggered 255/35/20 front and 275/40/20 rear performance radials give it a sporty look that fits rather well. If you like your cars big, clean, and a little bit unusual, think of the potential in this ultra-sanitary Impala. Up for sale is a 1969 Impala no rust car it has the original 327 V8 with power glide transmission, I purchased this car for my son but he wanted a newer car instead. So far I have put in a new master cylinder ($25), back brakes waiting to get the fronts done ($30.00 ( I have them),new brake cylinders ($10), Brand new tires and rims ($1k), New radiator hoses lower and upper ($30.), need to replace the water pump (on order $25.00). As you can see all the parts are cheap and available for this car, Clarion old school cd 200W with speakers. I have the original owners manual, which shows it was purchased in Freemont , Ca. What it needs: Headliner ($65.), interior, paint looks ok but I would redo, looks like a One a day paint job was done to it. other than that this car is complete and runs great! Thumbs up when driving it down any street. I have the door molding that shows missing in the pics but have ordered new molding clips and should get here this week. Oh it also has original factory AC

Better yet, how many with a thumping 427 under the hood? A nice combination of restored and original parts, this matching-numbers big block SS is the ride of choice for the guy who appreciates true luxury muscle. Big and black, this Impala is an imposing sight here in the showroom, never mind barreling down the highway in your rear-view mirror. Wide, long, and low, it delivers that full-sized ride that everyone gets nostalgic over and looks pretty darned good despite casting a shadow the size of a full-sized pickup truck. The bodywork is nice enough to proudly wear that black paint, which is the car's original color. Doors fit well, those giant quarter panels are straight, and the single rub strip that runs along its flanks emphasizes the panel alignment, which is quite good. A white vinyl top is an awesome contrast that ties in nicely with the interior, and it, too, is in good condition and not brittle or yellowing due to age. Bright chrome bumpers and a standard SS grille are subtle reminders that this is still a heavy-hitter, and with triple taillights out back, there's little doubt what kind of car this is as it pulls away from you. Parchment buckets anchor the spacious interior, which is big enough for the whole family to go out cruising. The seats are so nice that I have to believe they've been reupholstered, and the carpets are in such great shape that they can't possibly be 45 years old, but beyond that it's quite possible that this is a very original interior. The door panels remain in good order and the dash pad has a few cracks but plenty of life left in it. A woodgrained steering wheel warms things up a bit and offers an appropriate Chevy vibe that keeps the corporate look. Options include the console with horseshoe shifter (mandatory on any car of this caliber, I'd say), factory A/C, and, of course, the bucket seats. Original gauges are in good working order with well-marked faces and that is, indeed, the original AM radio in the middle of the dash. OF course, a car like this comes with a massive trunk, which carries what might be the original mat and a vintage bias-ply Goodyear spare. You could get a wide range of engines in your Impala in 1969, but the top dog was the L36 427/390 (if we're not counting the L72, which was a well-kept secret). This car carries its original, numbers-matching LI-coded block and while it isn't detailed and shiny, it definitely gets your attention when you lean on the loud pedal. That may very well be factory Chevy Orange paint on the block, and what it lacks in beauty it makes up for with brawn. Linked to a TH400 3-speed automatic and a bulletproof rear end, it's content to just loaf along on the highway or have some fun at the strip. It's original underneath which isn't necessarily a bad thing when you're from a warm climate, and if you want one to drive, this is a great choice. Factory Rally wheels now carry 235/75/15 whitewall radials, just to lull the other guy into thinking this SS is a pushover. Luxury muscle is gaining steam, and if you like the full-sized feel with some real power behind it, this Impala SS delivers in a big way.
