This Jeep was originally an Air Force officers jeep from McChord Air Force Base. I bought it about 3 years ago and was planning on building it into my wheeler. It was all stock except for wheels and tires. It has no oil leaks, and has very minimal rust for having been on the pacific coast most of its life. Unfortunately I am starting a new business and need some capitol so I'm going to sell my baby.The jeep has the GM 151 Iron Duke 4 cylinder with a Borg Warner SR4 four-speed transmission, and a Dana 300 transfer-case. I was planning on putting a Buick L67 3.8 supercharged V6 with a 4L65E transmission in it, all on a new frame with a Dana 60 and 14 bolt under coil-overs.I have put a new clutch in it, a new radiator from a YJ along with an electric fan, and rebuilt the Webber carburetor along with a tune up and a new electric fuel pump and pressure regulator. I put new u joints in both drive-lines when I replaced the clutch. Axles, transmission, and transfer-case are all stock with new oil in the last 500 miles. The soft top is new with in the last year and I put on the red tailgate because the original was really thrashed. I added a 2 inch shackle lift to clear the 35x13.50r15 Toyo M/T tires that were under it. It now has a set of new Maxxis Bighorn 235/85R16 tires on it. The Buick L67 3.8 supercharged V6 and 4L65E transmission both have around 90,000 miles on them. I have all of the computers and wiring harnesses, on which nothing has been cut, and I would be willing send all of it with it for $1,400I would be willing to leave the 50 inch rigid light bar on for an extra $900.I also have a new Throttle Down Customs mandrel bent frame for it that I would include for an extra $2,000 I also have a set of brand new staz-works 17x10 8x6.5 double bead-lock wheels that I would be willing to sell for $2,000.The winch and bumper I'm going to keep for my next rig someday down the road. This 1981 Jeep Scrambler CJ8 has recently undergone a full cosmetic and mechanical restoration. Clad in Chestnut Brown Metallic, paint quality is outstanding. Selling a Vintage 1981 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler Pickup. This truck is being sold here for a relative that received this truck as part of a debt owed by someone. The truck sports a fresh and brand new, excellent paint job, a brand new set of seats, has a Jeep brand center console, Brand new JVC Stereo with CD, Remote, Aux. input, and Two Brand new Sony Speakers mounted in the factory dash locations with nothing cut in or altered. The truck has a few added features. It has a vintage compass mounted on the top of the dash, front end protectant screens, Headlight and taillight mesh screen protectors, Warn front Hubs, and retains the Stock 4 cylinder motor which runs strong and smooth. Many of these trucks have had their original power plants removed and small block GM motors put in their place but this one is still as original as it was new. It has a manual 4 speed transmission and it shifts smooth and the clutch operates as is should. The truck has been detailed and is in spotless, clean condition. The current owner just spent thousands on a brand new paint job. The factory roll bar was even repainted. It has a custom gun rack in the bed that is removable. Rear factory tire carrier. Glass is in great shape with new front and rear window seals, bed and cab floors have been lined to keep moisture out and from rusting anything on the truck upper surfaces. Engine compartment is clean and free from any modifications or heavy smog equipment. Does not smoke and goes down the road straight and brakes straight and smooth. Original Jack and lug wrench are still mounted in the engine compartment. The only things I have noticed that in my opinion it needs, is that the tires look to have some age on them but are deep in tread still. The spare looks ok and would do the job if needed but not brand new by any means. It appears that there is a small seep/drip coming from the manual transmission I think. Not an expert but just my honest opinion only. The half cab on the truck has been repainted inside and out and looks like new now. I have posted a lot of pictures to try to answer as many questions as possible. For being almost 35 years old, it is in very nice shape and looks very original and not lifted or turned into a rock crawler. Miles show just over 100K but actual are not known. Scrambler is spelled out on the hood, as if you needed that to know what this is, and it has accessories like chrome bumpers, a matching grille and hinges, and a spare tire hanging off the tailgate in back. The roll bar has been neatly wrapped in tailored pads and the bed itself is covered in spray-on bedliner material, so it's tough enough for anything you can fit in there. When you're heading out with all your gear, THIS is the truck that everyone's going to wish they owned. Thoroughly freshened, the interior is more 21st century than many of this Jeep's peers. High-back buckets are awesome for crawling over rough terrain, holding you in place while being comfortable enough for all-day drives. The floor is lined with the same spray-in bedliner material used out back, so it's low maintenance and you can just about hose it out when you get home. A center console adds security and that upholstery just looks cool in a '70s kind of way. Other desirable features include a tilt column, a chrome gauge panel, and Jeep-logo floor mats. The other gauges are in excellent shape, including the tach nestled into the dash next to the steering wheel. A brand new bikini top and half doors are included, along with a rear bench seat that makes this a legitimate 4-seater that can still carry a decent load of cargo at the same time. 1981 Jeep Scrambler that my father and I rebuilt from the ground up. We found the jeep in a field in Okeechobee City back in 2007. We stripped it down to bare frame and started. The frame has been powdercoated gloss black, along with the front and rear custom 2x5 steel tube bumpers (fabricated by us), the roll bar and many miscellaneous pieces. The suspension is from Rubicon Express, it's their 4.5" Extreme Kit with upgraded Wrangler leaf springs front and rear. It is sitting on 35"x12.50" BFG All Terrains in 15x10 Chrome Steel Wheels. The wheels have some rust on them. The underside of the body was coated with truck bed liner. It is the original steel body, not a fiberglass or aluminum replica. Also installed is a 1" body lift. The interior has all new carpeting, and a custom rear deck with matching carpeting. There are Rugged Ridge vinyl bucket seats and a locking center console. The dash is custom, made from a piece of 3/16" aluminum, housing all Autometer Sport Comp gauges, a Sony radio and 2 6-1/2" Sony speakers. Inside the tailgate is a black aluminum 20 gallon fuel cell. It feeds all stainless braided line, a Holley Blue fuel pump and filter and to the 650cfm Edelbrock carburetor. The entire jeep is rewired with a Painless Wiring kit. The transmission is a Torqueflite 727. The front and rear ends have 4.10 gears and a Detroit Locker in the front with manual locking hubs. The engine is a 360 from a Wagoneer completely rebuilt by S&H Machine in West Palm Beach. It was bored .10 over, stock heads cleaned up and rebuilt, Comp Cams cam (.490/.490), Edelbrock intake manifold and 650 Carb. All new accessories, radiator, tranny cooler, Power Master starter, Full MSD Ignition and much more. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and I will answer them the best I can. The cons : The steering box leaks as does the rear main. the drivers side rear panel has some bodywork areas that need attention. This was driven on weekends, and usually only once a month.

The dashboard matches the exterior paint with a black pad and aluminum bezel for the gauges. The bezel houses a set of original, time correct looking gauges that look great. There is also a roll cage. All of the glass is nice. Overall, this is a very nice, very cool off-road Jeep!Under the hood, you%26#8236;l find a 6 cylinder powerhouse mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. 1981 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler. This outstanding classic Jeep is a complete frame-off restoration with performance enhancing upgrades including Howell TBI fuel injection, HEI ignition, wide track front/rear axles, Warn full-floating rear axle, custom dash with VDO gauges and fold & tumble rear seat. Total restoration included stainless steel fasteners throughout, fully coated frame with stainless brake lines, body undercoated with LizardSkin and interior coated with grey Duraback liner. Inside includes Bestop TrailMax seats with rear fold & tumble seat. Custom dash includes full VDO instrumentation with speedo, tach, oil pressure, water temp, voltage, fuel, trans temp and amperage gauges. 258 in-line six cylinder engine is fully rebuilt and bored .010 over. Enhancements include Howell TBI fuel injection, HEI ignition, bomb-proof motor mounts, AirRaid intake and dual electric cooling fans. Fully rebuilt TF-999 automatic transmission with separate cooler and column shift.Driveline : TF-999 automatic transmission was rebuilt less than 6300 miles ago. All driveline bushings were replaced with polyurethane so they will last forever. The transfer case is the very popular, super tough DANA 300 with new seals. The transmission, engine, and transfer case were all removed during the restoration and all parts completely overhauled, cleaned and serviced. The Dana 300 is a 2-speed part time unit with 2.62 low range gear reduction. The 4-wheel drive system is part-time, with lockable manual free-wheeling front hubs. Front Dana 30 is wide-trac version with all new Spicer/Dana U-joints. Rear AMC 20 is also wide-trac version with Warn FULL-FLOATING rear axles and Warn Premium Hubs. Both the front and rear axles can be free-wheeling for easy towing. Both driveshafts have new Spicer/Dana U-joints.Brakes/Steering/Cooling : The ENTIRE brake system has been replaced with new parts including new front pads, new front rotors and rear drums (NOT TURNED BUT NEW), rear shoes, rear wheel cylinders, new spring kits, Brand new master cylinder and new power brake booster, and all new lines. EVERY brake line was replaced with a complete STAINLESS STEEL brake line kit and to accommodate the suspension lift, extended braided flexible stainless lines were used. Stainless hardware was used on the frame to mount the brake lines as well. FRONT DISC BRAKES AND POWER BRAKES !!  The Jeep also features POWER STEERING with a new power steering pump and rebuilt steering gear box which turns the wheels with ease! A new radiator with dual electric cooling fans was also added.Interior : The interior has been completely redone with brand new grey Bestop TrailMax high-back bucket seats and a matching Tuffy locking center console. No rips, stains, or wear on the seats anywhere! A Grant steering wheel is mounted on the tilt automatic shift column. The interior of the cab and pick-up bed have been fully lined with a tough Duraback grey bed-liner making it truly Jeep-Style when you go topless. Brand new heater control cables were added and the heat works very well! A customized dash panel includes full VDO gauges including speedo, tach, oil pressure, water temp, volts, fuel level, trans temp and amperes. All the dash control knobs were replaced with billet aluminum units to get rid of the annoying stock knobs that always fall off. The heater core was also replaced and is fully functional. The glove box was replaced with a locking Tuffy glovebox with keys matching the center console. The windshield wipers system has been replaced with new WipeBoy wipers allowing the wiper arm to park level with the bottom of the windshield frame improving driver visibility. All the inner and outer weather-stripping and seals on the Wrangler style half doors were replaced with new.Exterior : This Scrambler is painted in metallic blue with stainless, brushed stainless and silver trim pieces. The windshield frame is a new dual-rib steel unit with new cowl seal, windshield seal, and window glass. The glass is perfect with no chips or cracks at all. Stainless steel hood latches, cowl grill and hood footman loops were used. A new hidden radio antenna, wiper arms, headlamps, and all new bulbs, and mounting hardware were installed. A new wiper motor and blades were installed. The front and rear bumper are from Olympic and include hitch receivers both front and rear. The body and all panels are steel including an OEM gauge hood and the original tailgate with the embossed “Jeep” logo on it. New tailgate cables with new latches. NO FIBERGLASS PARTS ANYWHERE ON THIS JEEP. The fenders, hood, and grill were all painted separately inside and out.SEE PICS OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT. All the body panels were then re-assembled. The entire undercarriage was treated with an epoxy rust preventative primer and then sprayed with LizardSkin undercoating to prevent any corrosion. This 1981 model includes a Bestop grey bikini top and Bestop grey windbreaker. I'm also including a grey CJ-7 soft top and soft upper doors (as seen in photos). The CJ-7 soft top can be modified to create a fastback soft top for the scrambler. A rear tonneau cover with velcro closure is also included. Suspension : The suspension is a 4” Skyjacker Soft-Ride suspension lift that replaced all 4 leaf springs with heavy duty units. The shocks were also replaced with longer Rancho RS-9000 units and topped with red shock boots. New braided stainless lines were added to accommodate the lift. The shackles were also replaced with Genuine Steel heavy duty zirconium coated units and grade 5 hardware that provide 3/8 inch lift. New extended sway bar disconnect links with poly bushings and new sway bar polyurethane bushings were installed. Simply pull out the end-link pins and you get the ultimate off-road articulation needed when maneuvering down the trail. Polyurethane tie-rod end boots and new tie-rod ends were also added to get the slop out of the steering. A new drop pitman arm was installed to correct the steering geometry. To aid in bump-steer and drivability a Rancho steering stabilizer was added to the front. All the suspension, shackle, and body mount bushings on the entire Jeep were replaced with ENERGY SUSPENSION polyurethane. The axles include a wide-trac Dana 30 front and wide-trac rear AMC 20 with Warn FULL-FLOATING rear axles with Warn premium hubs. The axles were fully rebuilt with all new bearings and u-joints and have been serviced with fresh gear oil. The wheels are brand new American Racing AR23 15”x10” with 33”x12.50” Pro-Comp Mud Terrains.
