1989 Jaguar V12 Coupe. Rare solid top ( no dealer installed sunroof). Car had engine fire that they are notorious for with the injectors. Car only has 79k miles on it and ran great before the fire. Hood has some damage from fire department but can be worked out by body man. Perfect candidate for Chevy V8 swap or parts car.. I was going to do the swap but we have a newborn and I have no time to work on it. Car is complete. Engine and Trans can fetch over $1000 when removed. Interior is complete and in fair condition. All chrome and glass is intact and in great shape. There are thousands of dollars worth of parts on the car if you have time to part it out. Up for your consideration is our beautiful '89 Jag. Unfortunately, we have 5 cars and no garage, so we're trying to get it into a good home before it has to spend another Georgia summer outdoors. Our grandmother gave it to us 2 1/2 years ago because, at age 87, she was having a difficult time getting in and out of it and preferred the visibility offered by her Buick SUV. She bought it new in 1989 and has garaged and maintained it since then. So, yes, here it is - the proverbial used car that was owned since new by a little old lady who only drove it on Sundays! We got a new battery, replaced all the belts, secured a fuel line that was rattling underneath, and repaired a power steering fluid leak. We never smoked or put the dogs in it, and averaged about 1 or 2 trips a week with it. The tires are great, but the full-sized spare is bald. The transmission and brakes work just as they should (although the ABS light on the dash stays on for some reason). The beastly V-12 will push you back in your seat, should you want it to, and is happiest at highway speed, as anyone who's driven one will tell you. They're not kidding about the vaunted "Jaguar ride." It really is ridiculously smooth and grippy- you can accelerate into curves or up hills and it just feels solidly planted, with plenty of power to spare. Plus, the XJS was cool enough for Roger Moore, thus by the transitive property of coolness, it's cool enough for James Bond. Now on to Ye Olde British Car Issues (closeup photos included): If you leave it outside in a thunderstorm overnight, there will be leaks at your feet and the glove box unless you cover the hood vent. I've owned 4 Austins- they all leaked, too. You'd think in a rainy country like England, they'd be really into preventing this, like how the Swedes make a really great seat heater, but no. The Queen's car probably leaks. Paint: We left it out in direct sun on the street for 2 years (again, I apologize, no garage) and it ruined the clearcoat on the hood in a spot. You'll probably want to get the hood painted, or you could just line up the racing stripe there. There is a ding near the fuel door, a quarter-sized bubble on each door in the same spot, some tiny bubbles on the lip of the trunk, some acorn dings on the roof, and other very minor scratches and imperfections befitting a car this age. Annoyances: The right rear bumper has a little bend that we deemed too minor to bother with, and the air dam needs to be reattached in the center (one screw, just have em do it whenever it's on a lift next). The passenger power window will go down, but doesn't like going up. The wood fascia on the shifter console is cracked with heat and age. The headliner fell one hot day and is safety pinned up. The radio sounds great but the tape deck has taken to randomly flipping from one tape side to the other, even with the tape adapter in. There is a split seam a few inches long on the leftmost side of the driver's seat. The radio antenna just decided it just wasn't going to retract anymore one day. The springs no longer hold the massive hood aloft, so it must be propped up with a rod when you're under there- I'll leave it in the trunk for you! To Be Fixed: There is a pinhole leak in a valve cover gasket that causes a little smoke from oil being forced out onto the hot engine block. Our grandmother said that the last thing she'd had done was to repair a fuel tank leak- I inspected it and you can see where they patched it with JB Weld. I've sealed a plate over an engine port with that stuff before and I trust it, but if I had the budget for it I'd have the tank resealed from the inside or just replaced for total peace of mind. I've never seen it leak or smelled anything untoward, though. The battery will go flat if you leave it connected overnight- If I were keeping the car, I'd put in a master kill switch and just bypass the problem, but I'd recommend having someone with a test light chase down the bad ground or short and never worry about it again. Oh- comes with the excellent Haynes Manual.

The original V-12 engine has been replaced with a new remanufactured 1996 Lt 1 Chevrolet 350 cubic inch fuel injected engine. The engine has a 3 year parts and labor warranty. This Jag has some added muscle and with the new chrome side exhaust pipes, it sounds like the old muscle cars. The tires and wheels are new, the electric fan motor,the fan motor cowl, radiator expansion tank, radiator, oil cooler, oil cooler hose set, and a new Lambda 3 wire oxygen sensor has been replaced. This stunning all original XJS Convertible left the Browns Lane Coventry factory in April of 1989 and was invoiced to Grand Touring Cars in Canada. The car sold new to its first owner on August 15, 1989 and remained in the care of the first owner until 2000 when the car was imported into Georgia with the new owner where the car stayed until March of 2004 when the 3rd owner bought the car and shipped it to North Carolina where it has been in a private collection ever since. This stunning XJS is finished in rare Solent Blue Metallic and retains a stunning original luster. The paint finish is beautiful and shows minimal age. Aside from a few small stone chips in the front of the car and two tiny dings on the passenger door, the body and paint are in excellent original condition. All of the chrome and rubber look excellent and show minimal age or wear. The gorgeous Isis Blue leather interior is all original and in stunning condition with minimal age and wear to the driver seat bolster and seat bottom. All of the carpet and trim are all original and in outstanding condition and all of the wood is original and shows beautifully (the lower center console does have some hairline cracks around the shift knob and window switches. The Convertible top is original and in excellent condition free from any damage. The engine starts right up and runs beautifully, free from any smoke or hesitation. The gearbox shifts into all of the gears with ease and the engine pull very strong. The front pads and calipers are new and the brakes feel excellent. The steering and suspension have an excellent positive feel free from any drifting or noises. All of the electronic items appear to be operating as designed. The power mirrors, locks, lumbar, seat heaters, convertible top, side quarter windows, power antenna, original radio, AC, heater and all of the lights and interior lights are operating as designed. This is an exceptionally well maintained car from new and has absolutely no rust anywhere to be found on the car. The original paint is beautiful and shows exceptionally well and the original interior is in outstanding condition. The car has never been involved in an accident before and has a clean and clear title. This is a beautiful XJS that has been well cared for its entire life and comes in original rare colors. I am sadly selling our 1989 XJ-SC convertible that car that has been in our family since May of 2001. The car was bought new at Dale Schumacher (British Motor Car Distributors, LTD) in San Francisco, CA on September 15th, 1989. They looked forever for an XJS with this color combination (very hard to find) and options (such as power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, power top, tilt, cruise, leather, CD player, etc). At the time of purchase, the car has just a shade over 62k on the ODO. In the last few years, my father in law has passed and my mother in law can no longer get in and out of the car comfortably. The car has not been driven and just sits in the garage. So, we are finally letting go of it. The car has a clean Oregon title. It has had no accidents, body work, always been stored inside when not in use, and adult driven. In the last 250 miles, we have had the most well-known Jaguar repair shop in the state inspect and repair items from sitting, the Jag Shop of Portland, Oregon. Some of the replaced items include: Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 clean connections for main crankshaft position sensor, repair 2 fuel injector wires, replace brake pads and rotors, repack front wheel bearings, replace loose throttle shaft bushings, adjust linkages, Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 repaired the power steering rack (including rack boots and tower seals), installed a new distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, and wires. In addition, I just put brand-new tires on the car along with a battery. Knowing potential buyers may be interested in having an inspection on the car, I literally picked it from the shop yesterday (8-3-15) from the Jag Shop where they inspected the car and completed the tune-up. Therefore, this car is ready to drive! Unlike many British cars for sale, this car HAS had the costly repairs done professionally. Why buy a different car and then spend another few thousand on repairs of suggested maintenance? The body and paint on the car is very good. The paint shines well and definitely is an eye-catcher. It does have a few minor scratches and minor door dings as expected from a 26 year old car. However, they are barely noticeable due to the forgiving white paint. Meanwhile, the red interior is in very nice shape. The wood grain is excellent as is the dash. The seats have some wear but look and feel nice. The doors open and close well and do not sag. I put new shocks on the hood and it works excellent. The tires and brakes are new. The wheels could use some cleaning but present well. Lastly, the convertible top is free of rips or tears.
