1989 Toyota Supra, turbocharged 7M-GTE straight 6cyl engine with R154 5spd and limited slip rear end. Sport (Targa) roof. Silver color with light blue/grey(?) interior. Body has 192,911 miles but amazing condition. Some oxidation in paint. Car came from Nevada at one point in its history and was also in Wisconsin. Been garaged every winter while here in Michigan. In the last two years I've maybe had it out to drive less than a dozen (12) times hence the reason I'm selling. The last time it was driven it had the occasional knock, most likely due to the gas starting to go bad. Also the HKS boost valve intermittently opens at WOT/full boost. It has been approximately 15k-20k miles since fresh rebuild according to previous, previous owner. New OEM shortblock, wire harnesses, Hks 1.2mm MHG and ARP studs, new oem toyota head, and everything else new oem including alternator, belts, starter, timing belt, etc. I have most of the documentation except for the actual rebuild itself but there are parts receipts indicating the rebuild occurred around 2006-2007. Selling my 1989 Toyota Supra. The car is naturally aspirated, with an automatic transmission. It has a sunroof, which works and does not leak. I am the third owner of this car, it has always been adult owned and driven, and spent its entire life in the southwest, so there is zero rust on the car. It has never been smoked in; for that matter, I never even drank or ate anyting in it and would not let anyone else. The paint on the car is excellent, as it all the glass and the interior. The front bumper has some road rash on it, and there are a few small dings on the exterior. Tires have probably 40-50% tread left. I have done a lot of work on this car since I have owned it, (late 2008) and here is the stuff I remember: --When I first got it I put a remanufactured head on it from Clearwater, in Florida. --New ARP bolts and head gasket --New water pump --New radiator --New belts --Timing belt about 10K ago. --New master cylinder --New front brake rotors --Ceramic brake pads --New steering rack --New upper and lower ball joints --New inner and outer tie rod ends --Alignment --New coolant temp sensor --New Throttle position sensor --New battery just a week ago --Transmission filter and fluid replaced --New fuel filter --Has original unmolested R12 a/c system that blows *cold* Everything works, it has the original AM/FM stereo with casette deck. Factory alarm system works perfectly. One thing I have not gotten a chance to do is get the headliner re-done. I have had two quotes, one for $350.00 and one for $250.00, but I simply have been too busy to take it in, so that is why I have the price a thousand dollars below book, you can have that done, and still get a good deal on an *awesome* Supra. This is the second Supra I have owned; the first, a MKII had over 250K on it when I sold it, and was still going strong, so this one at 130K is just getting started. I have looked at a lot of different Supras over the years, and while they are out there, ones that are in the kind of shape that this one is in are a disappearing breed. The car is a time capsule and you can see from the pictures it's in astounding condition. The model is the special edition White on White. Pearl White car, white trim, white mags. This has a pop off hard Targa top that fits into special brackets in the trunk. Essentially it is a convertible. I bought this beauty new in Cincinnati and have owned it all of it's 26 year history. I've put it away every October and back on the road in April. No winter driving. It's been in zero accidents - barely any scratches even. The inside upholstery is virtually factory condition with almost no wear and tear. ** Someone just brushed up against my bumper. Very tiny roughing of paint on rear bumper. No denting. Probably can be buffed out. I just put in a new radiator and complete exhaust system about 1000 miles ago. It has been serviced more than normal for maintenance. I didn't want surprises. It hasn't had any mechanical problems at all for its whole life. It is plated in Canada and can be sold here obviously with no hassle. Since it also was plated in Ohio, it can also be re-imported back into the USA with no duties or hassle there. This car has been my baby, my toy, my link to youth for almost 3 decades now. Maybe you'd like to relive your memories now too. Me, I'm pushing 70 so it's about time I let some other Supra lover behind the wheel. As a plus, in just a couple more years this will be a certified Classic Car with all the bonus' that gives. The suspension allows for two different settings controlled by the driver for dampening road impact. A third dampening level is programmed into the car but it only kicks in when the vehicle is braking hard or traveling through turns fast. The Supra also utilized a wishbone suspension assembly in the front and back axles. Don’t let this rare example of a 1989 Toyota Supra get away. This is the non-turbo version with a 3.0L inline 6. It goes when you hit it and corners great, regardless of how hard you push it. Everything is stock and everything works perfectly except the A/C. It works but without cold air. I believe the A/C just needs a freon top up but I haven't had that tried. I drive the car so little now, that turning on the A/C rarely comes up, so I'm guessing lack of use has caused some evaporation there. One last thing. You'll notice on one of the pictures a small spot of surface rust on the rear wheel well. That's the only rust on the car and it's really early to catch it and fix it. I went to CARSTAR for a quote on the rust and the guy there said I shouldn't fix it if I were to sell it soon, which of course I'm doing. In his opinion, a new buyer would want to see the tiny rust versus seeing new paint on the car. He felt seeing new paint would make a person wonder if there's been accident damage etc. Since the car is spotless except for this, I've opted to let you see it as is. This car has been taken very good care and drives nearly as when it was brand new. Everything works on it except for the CD player. But there is an adapter through the cassette player for mp3 players like ipod. The paint is the original. Although it was kept in a garage, I have been commuting and so there are a couple of small chips from tiny stones and there is some fainting of the paint on the bumpers. The head gasket was changed around 100K with a fel-pro kit. Also changed the water pump and spark plugs at that time. The timing belt was changed at 90K. The exhaust and the brake pads were changed. The rotors have never been turned. Note that I have gone to great lengths to keep the parts original (and anyone who knows these cars knows that they are expensive toys); the only parts that are not OEM are the two struts that support the hood, the water pump, and one windshield wiper (because I did not realize that you can actually get inserts). I also changed the lower front control arms because of a squeaky noise that the geniuses at a dealership "thought" was from the bushings but in the end it was only some chassis bolts that needed tightening. The AC has been converted to 134. Changed the radiator, belts, and some hoses about 5 years ago. The master cylinder was also changed 2 years ago (with OEM). Took out the screen that is inside the power steering fluid reservoir and put an inline filter instead. The filter is good for 20K and it only has about 3K on it. But it is external now so it is easy to change out. The passenger-side boot of the steering rack got torn a few years ago and so about a year and a half ago it developed a leak. I recently took the rack out and had it rebuild at D&S Steering in New Orleans who are really good and well respected. The rack is like new and still has a warranty because it was done about two months ago. And of course 4-wheel alignment was done. Absolutely no problems there. The above is all the record of the car. Otherwise I have changed oil at 2.5K intervals eventhough I have been driving it on highway. And I have always followed the label and let the car's turbo breathe before turning it off. So everything works as when it was new, the turbo is tight, the engine is quiet, the TEMS are behaving, and nothing is leaking. Any inspection is welcome (short of taking it apart in a major way). If you buy it then you will need to pick it up because I am not shipping it, however, I am willing to drive it out of New Orleans for drop off to a maximum of about 150 miles (so that I can catch a ride home). Up for sale is my treasured 1989 Toyota supra turbo targa. the car is fully loaded and has power everything, all still working. I've had the car since 1999, taken good care of it and restored it. for the first couple of years of the cars life with me i had it serviced at toyota, only toyota parts were used, i still have all of the recipts. The engine has been rebuilt and now has 8000km on it. the chassis has 118000km on it. Bodywork has been done to fix the minor rust spots. I finally finished it a dynoed it, with a stock turbo (about the only stock piece left on the engine) it made 340rwhp and 370ft-lbs. Add a strong turbo and it can put out more than 500rwhp easily. The engine was originally built for high hp and is virtually ready, all it needs is a turbo. The car is in great shape and needs a good home. i have all receipts for this car, totaling 40000$.
