This 9,922-mile coupe is an exceptional example of just that. Pampered and paraded its entire life, this Dodge is an impressive time capsule that'll transport you back to the days when stellar performance outshined raw horsepower! BODYWORK/TRIM The inaugural year of the Stealth, the 1991 model, was key in establishing Dodge as a major player in America's re-invigorated sports car market. Averaging just under 414 miles per year since rolling out of the showroom, this impressive MoPar appears to have rarely seen anything other than sunshine and warm summer days. A quick check of the car's undercarriage and suspension reveals no evidence of rust or abuse. A quick check of its VIN certifies its body has never seen any major repairs. And a quick check of our pictures confirms its dealer-installed spoiler and original Sable Black paint are both clean and appropriate. ENGINE In the early '90s, factory performance wars finally started heating up again. But this time, instead of Chevy, Ford and MoPar duking it out, the battle involved Japan's finest. Sure, the Viper made its debut, and the Corvette was still around, but those beasts were in a different league; and the price of admission to that league was steep. So, the Japanese automakers identified a niche for affordable sports cars, and the fight commenced. Lift this coupe's smooth hood and you'll find a 3.0 liter, naturally aspirated V6 that spins 160 horsepower into a modest 184 lb./ft. of torque. What that means is you get sparkling performance, good reliability and some pretty docile street manners in a package that's ripe for tuning. Or, better yet, maybe you leave it as is and establish a reference-grade gem for fellow Stealth enthusiasts who, eventually, will undoubtedly want to restore their well-worn classics. Aesthetically, the engine compartment in this Dodge appears to be 100% factory spec in every way. And, decked mostly in black, it's a serious looking piece with just a hint of color that adds both texture and contrast. DRIVETRAIN The low-mileage engine is bolted to a 4-speed automatic transmission that couples firm shifts to good fuel economy. That relaxed drivetrain spins the car's front wheels using a sophisticated suspension setup that virtually eliminates torque steer. Vented disc brakes live at all four corners. And the original exhaust has a raspy snarl that's extremely sporting, especially from outside the cockpit. Everything rolls on old school alloys that have been wrapped in 205/65R15 Goodyear Eagle GT+4s. And, as expected, everything under the car appears to be true to factory form. INTERIOR This coupe's jet-inspired cockpit, which presents a striking contrast to its extroverted exterior, displays hardly any signs of wear. The power-adjustable driver's seat keeps you as comfortable for quick jaunts as it does for long road trips; and the passenger and rear buckets don't appear to have been used for anything at all. In front of the driver, a dramatic black dash, which shows zero defects, is packed full of gauges and instruments that work exactly as they should. Overview: I have owned this car for a little over 15 years. She has been garaged kept her entire life, the condition speaks for itself. This car has had every major manufactures flaw fixed or upgraded to support 600+ HP. You will not find any other Stealth or 3000GT VR4 that has been better taken care of than this one. Even if you bought a time machine VR4 that had sat in bubble for 25 years you will still have to spend 10K on maintenance and upgrades because something will break. These cars are a lot of fun featuring AWD, and all wheel steering, turns heads everywhere I go. If you are considering one of these cars here is good reason to consider mine. Its a first year 1991 that has had all first gen flaws fixed and replaced with 3rd gen or better aftermarket parts. There are a lot of random issues most people don't know about these cars. For example the capacitors used in the ECU from the factory are junk. Even if the car sits in a bubble the capacitors will eventually leak all over the motherboard. As you can see from my list of modifications I have addressed / fixed / upgraded al the major problem areas that can spring up on these cars. If you are interested in one of these vehicles and you actually want to drive it hard and be faster than 95% of what's on the road today look no further. Car has current valid inspection to mid 2016. Currently the car is setup to run between 12.5 and 15PSI of boost, which can be controlled from the digital controller in the car on the fly. 0 Turbo lag 0-60 4 seconds flat. Estimated easy 420+ HP. Everything, I mean everything on the car works, not a single check engine light or warning code. I did disable the clutch sensor so that the car can be started without pushing in the clutch, I removed the sensor, new owner can put back on if desired. Even the AC blows colder air than my VW Passat. I am selling this car because I am out of room in the garage and I am looking to buy a piece of high end vintage Mopar. This car is now considered a classic and most states consider 25 year old cars to be Historic. In my home state of NJ this car will have Historic status in just 4 more months. If your cruising no problems, If your beating on it and shifting at 6K you are better off double clutching into 3rd. Root cause for this is slightly worn 3rd gear syncro ring. Cheap part to replace if you are technical, can be pricey unless you have a good fair mechanic. Car pulls hard and shifts strong, I can double clutch 3rd and still shift faster and smoke 90% of what's on the road today. Just a few minor rock chips here and there, not really noticeable. Normally I write an extensive description of what the car is, and what the model is all about. However, in the case of this Stealth, the pictures really do the talking. Plus, if you're looking at this listing, I'm sure you already know all about the cars at which you're looking. For the sake of providing the basics though, it's important to note that the Dodge Stealth was manufactured by Mitsubishi in Japan through a mutual manufacturing deal between Chrysler and Mitsubishi which lasted throughout the 80s, 90s, and 00s. The stealth is mechanically identical to the Mitsubishi 3000GT, but features entirely different bodywork and is much more rare. Surprisngly, many people don't know of its Japanese heritage, which makes the kind of an oddity. You can fit in in multiple enthusiast communities. Some may argue (myself included) that the Stealth is a bit more exotic than the 3000GT since the "big 3" never really made a 90s grand touring coupe like most Japanese and European companies did. Afterall, they were the trend in the early 90s. The interior of this Stealth is in beautiful condition. In fact, overall, its absolutely spectacular. The interior is finished in black and dark gray cloth. It has the original audio system with a really cool 90s graphic equalizer. It also has the digital automatic climate control which has a really cool animated color display that shows the flow of he air. The air conditioning retains its origina R-12 charge and is still ice cold. Everything in the interior works. The previous owner of this car was definitely a non-smoker. The cigarette lighter hasn't been used, nor has the ash tray. The car does have a drivers side airbag which was pretty much normal for a premium car from 1991. The rear seats do fold flat for hauling large cargo. It's amazing how huge the cargo area is with the seats folded flat. It's almost like a station wagon! Its possible for adults to use the rear seats, though I wouldn't want to sit back there for a long period of time. Even the carpet in the trunk is incredible. The original retractable soft cargo cover is even present, and we were told that this is an accessory which is virtually impossible to find. It works properly and retracts as it should. It attaches to the bottom of the hatch so it extends and retracts as the hatch is opened and closed. The carpets throughout the car are in like-new condition, as is literally every other part of the interior. This car is truly a time capsule; right down to the "new car smell." The exterior of this Stealth R/T is in exceptionally nice condition, and is Scarlett Red in color. This color is exclusive to the Stealth and is truly the best color for this car. To say it stands out is an understatement. The car has so many unique design elements which are a combination between the Japanese styling of the 3000GT and the 90s design language of Dodge. The front bumper is unmistakably dodge, while the side vents and strut tourette caps are distinctly Mitsubishi. The wheels are very unique and unlike anything on any other car. They're in flawless condition and even maintain their original factory markings from when they were manufactured, and the first tires were mounted. The outside of the car is actually completely free of dings and scratches. The paint is sublime except for a small area of scratches which appears to have been touched up some time ago. They're near the very bottom of the rear bumper in the center. It's hard to see, and was difficult to get it to show up in photos. If you look closely at the rear picture of the car, you can see it. The car has the original front license plate bracket which we were also told is virtually impossible to find. Most people end up screwing the license plate directly to the bumper. No need for that here. It's important to note that this car is completely 100% rust free. This car was clearly never driven in the winter. It could easily be on the showroom floor in 1991. In fact, our dealership was a Chrysler dealer back then, so it's fun to think that it kind of lines up in that respect. The car does have integrated fog lamps in the front bumper and flip up headlights for the low and high beams. All of the lighting works properly, and the pop-up lights go up and down properly and at matching speed. The tires are all in good shape and are matching. They are brand new. The tires were replaced because the age of the original tires made them a safety hazard.The brakes are in good shape and the car stops as it should. Even the brake calipers are still silver with no surface rust showing just how amazing this car's condition is. The legendary 3.0 Liter Four Cam V6 engine runs flawlessly and is very smooth. These engines are an incredible combination of power and smoothness. The car runs, drives, looks, sounds, and smells brand new. This is as nice as it gets! Pampered and paraded its entire life, this Dodge is an impressive time capsule that'll transport you back to the days when stellar performance outshined raw horsepower! In 1990, Mitsubishi's Nagoya-built GTO stormed America's re-invigorated sports car market. And by 1991, when the Dodge Stealth bowed, virtually every new-age gearhead knew three essential truths. 1) If you wanted to look cool, you bought an ES. 2) If you wanted to look cool and go fast, you bought an R/T. 3) If you wanted to look cool, go fast and kick asphalt, you bought an R/T Twin Turbo! Averaging less than 1,500 miles per year, this Far East Mopar has rarely seen anything other than sunshine and warm summer days. A quick check of the car's undercarriage and suspension reveals no evidence of rust or abuse. A quick check of its profile presents a body that appears to have never been repaired. And a quick check of our pictures confirms its Firestorm Red paint, which happens to be one of only 1,048 coats issued for 1991 twin turbos, is both glossy and bright. That's right, even 22 years after it rolled out of the showroom this spry sports coupe is still turning heads! With its low nose, muscular haunches and wide stance, the Stealth is a model of early-90s cool. At the front of the car, an aggressive air dam hangs halogen fog lights beneath a stamped "DODGE" script and glossy, pop-up headlamps. Above those headlamps, a large, flat hood leads the eye past fade-free shock caps to like-new glass that's flanked by aerodynamic C-pillars and branded with "DOHC 24V ALL WHEEL DRIVE" decals. Below those decals, ridged fenders flow into sculpted doors that hang body-matched mirrors and flush-fit handles above aggressive, "TWIN TURBO" branded rockers. Behind those rockers, a tall decklid spoiler floats between a thoughtful windshield wiper and standard electric antenna. And at the back of the car, clear tail lights combine with bright reverse lamps to reflect monochromatic "DODGE" "STEALTH R/T" scripts off of spotless stainless exhaust tips. In the early 90s, factory performance wars finally started heating up again. But this time, instead of Chevy, Ford and Mopar duking it out, the battle involved Japan's finest. Sure, the Viper made its debut, and the Corvette was still around, but those beasts were in a different league; and the price of admission to that league was steep. So, the Japanese automakers identified a niche for affordable sports cars, and the fight commenced. This Dodge's Mitsubishi-designed, twin-turbo powertrain benefits from technology that was very advanced for its time. The core of that powertrain is a DOHC 24-valve 3.0-liter 6-cylinder which sports electronic fuel injection, aluminum heads, factory roller rockers and, of course, two turbochargers. Those turbos, intercooled via intakes incorporated into the front air dam, make the smooth mill good for 296 horsepower and 306 lb./ft. of torque. And, since all that horsepower and technological goodness could be had in a relatively light package for about half the price of Dodge's V10 flagship, it was generally viewed as wise economics. Aesthetically, the engine compartment in this Stealth is 100% original and in pristine, factory condition. And, decked mostly in black, it's a serious looking piece with just a hint of color here and there to add both texture and contrast. Twin Turbo Stealths came standard with a 5-speed Getrag manual transmission feeding a full-time all-wheel drive system. That system's 45 front/55 rear power split gives the car catapult-like acceleration in any weather condition, while 4-wheel steering provides additional stability during high speed cornering. At low speeds, the car's electronics are completely transparent, almost entirely unnoticeable and almost exactly replicating normal two-wheel steering and normal front wheel drive. A dual-mode exhaust system opens the mufflers for more power at high engine speeds; giving the car an aggressive bark while maintaining a day-to-day rumble that won't wake the neighbors. The electronically controlled, variable-rate 4-wheel independent suspension does an excellent job tightening apexes or loosening tension. Stops come courtesy of 4-piston calipers, which squeeze 16-inch rotors up front and 15-inch rotors out back. Power is put to the pavement through 17-inch Chrysler alloys which spin 245/45 Kumho Ecstas around pentastar shaped center caps. And overall, this Stealth is sure-footed, feels surprisingly fast, and is an absolute blast to drive! This coupe's jet-inspired cockpit, which presents a striking contrast to its extroverted exterior, displays hardly any signs of wear. The 6-way power driver's seat keeps you as comfortable for quick jaunts as it does for long road trips; and the passenger and rear buckets don't appear to have been used for anything at all. In front of the driver, a dramatic black dash, which shows zero defects, is packed full of gauges and instruments that work exactly as they should. At the center of that dash, automated climate control hangs above a great sounding, factory stereo system. Between the aforementioned seats, a crack-free console props a black shifter on clean carpet that's protected by thick, color-keyed floor mats. At the sides of that carpet, factory door panels, which are typically faded and ballooned from heat, present as good as new. This car was given to me by a friend who has moved overseas and is not coming back he has given me power of attorney and I can have the title notarized and sell it to you will need to have it towed it doesnt run as is and has been sitting for over a year I drove it for months and months trying to sell it for the price he wanted over 2k for it the transmission and everything worked just fine while I was driving it when it lost power one day and stopped running it cranked a few more times and ran until i could get it to a safe spot then wouldnt crank anymore. i have since spent hundreds and hundreds on it for storage and towing and to have a backyard mechanic try to fix it he saw me as a bank account and tried to fix a lot of small things before he told me that it just needed cam work and was bleeding me dry and charging me for storage. So i took the car back and it has been sitting ever since I need to sell it as to just trying to get what I have spent on it back. I am tired of dealing with no shows and have sold this car twice already and then get called saying I have no money. If you dont have money dont bid on this car! Local Pick up as we will have to have the title notarized. We could use UShip to get a quote on lowest priced towing to your home but you (the Buyer) with valid ID must meet me at a local notary so we can complete the transaction legally as I have power of attorney.
