I have searched and searched online and have yet to find one like this one. I am a car guy, but unfortunately Jaguars are outside of my area of expertise. If anyone has any additional information that would be helpful for me that I could post with this auction, it would be extremely appreciated!!) Up for your consideration is an original ONE OWNER Bright Red Jaguar XJS V12 Collection Classic Coupe with only 36k original documented miles. You are purchasing this from the original owner and it comes with original dealership bill of sale and a 2 inch thick folder of misc. service records since new. Also comes with all original manuals, misc documentation, and 2 sets of factory keys. Details:The car belongs to my Aunt, who purchased it brand new from Ladd Hanford Jaguar in Lebanon PA on 12/23/1991. It has been her baby since new, however, it is impractical for at this stage of her life, and she has lost her storage spot for it. She has reluctantly agreed to part with it so I am trying to help her out. It appears that the car is a very special one. At the time of purchase they were told by the General Manager of the dealership, Bob Lawson, that this was one of only 8 like cars built by Jaguar, specifically for the Jaguar show circuit. They were told this XJS was extremely rare and that this was the ONLY one of these cars that was sold east of the Mississippi. The other 7 remained and were sold on the west coast. They were told that this one differs from standard XJS's in that is has the following Jaguar factory modifications: - Factory Jaguar lower body ground effects package (I have not yet found one online with this same package, there seem to be none anywhere) - it is not a TWR package like some have suggested.- Red piping on the seats (I haven't found one with this either)- Dual exhaust splitters (surrounded in the body-painted rear fiberglass valance) - again, the only one like it I have found.- Hand-painted tan pinstripe (supposedly done by some famous artist for Jaguar, but neither of them can remember the name of the person). No others seem to have this same pin stripe that I can find online. It is a very high quality job! There could also be some other differences, but this is what they remembered. After some seriously exhaustive internet searching, I would agree that it is definitely not a typical XJS and is unlike any others I can find. She has a ton of original documentation for the car, but has not been able to locate the window sticker. The VIN for the car is SAJTW5849MC178771. It is extremely original right down to the Jaguar stereo and even the original dealership license plate surround is still intact. It is exceptionally clean and unmolested under the hood as well (what an engine! Very impressive!) The car is currently PA state inspected until the end of November. Options/Equipment that I know of include: - Power Steering- Power Brakes- 4 Wheel ABS brakes- Leather seats- Heated seats (driver does not hear, wife said she felt the passenger side heat up while out for a drive)- Power lumbar seats (work fine)- 4-way power mirrors (work fine)- Cruise control (I could not get it to work, but may have been doing something wrong)- Climate control A/C (not blowing cold that I can see)- Original Jaguar AM/FM/Cassette security stereo (works fine)- Power door locks (work fine)- Power windows (work fine)- Power antenna (works fine)- Intermittent wipers (work fine, as does the windshield washer/mist system)- Rear defogger (haven't tested)- Fog lamps- Driver air bag- Tilt Wheel- Tinted glass- 4 Wheel Disc Brakes- Travel computer, tells distance, miles per gallon, and several other features- OEM Jaguar chrome spoke rims - Jaguar burl-wood shift knob (Aunt Sally didn't like the one that came on it and had the dealer install this one, the original is also included though) Here is what I have found that it needs:The car has been driven very minimally over the past 10 years or so and has mainly sat in her garage. I drove it approximately 30 miles to my house a few weeks ago (I couldn't believe all the heads it was turning!). It starts and runs fine. Shifts smoothly. Brakes fine, etc. It does need an alignment as there is a pull to the right when driving. Also, the tires are aging and they are definitely needing balanced. I did notice a "clinking" sound in the front end when you hit a bump. It sounds like shocks to me, they are probably originals. With only 36,000 miles and having been driven mainly on the highway & on paved roads, I can't imagine it is anything serious. The only damage I've seen worth noting on the exterior is on the front fiberglass ground effects package in front of the passenger side front tire (see pics). My Aunt said she scuffed it on a curb awhile back. I also see a light a very light door ding on the passenger side door. Very light and could be removed by a paintless dent guy. Did not chip the paint and it was small enough that I could not get it to show up in a pic. It is light but wanted to note it. There is also one scratch worth noting right under the rear side window on the driver side (please see pics) Otherwise, the car is straight and I don't see any body damage, dents etc to speak of. The only thing the interior needs is the headliner fixed, it is drooping. The material is in good condition, I am sure that it could be removed and reattached. Lastly, the struts that hold the hood up have lost their strength so will need replaced. The brakes were serviced about a year ago and the coolant system was flushed and a small metal tank replaced in August of this year. The tank was ordered through Jaguar and is located on the inside of the front fender. The battery was also new in August of this year. There is NO RUST on the car anywhere and the paint shines about like new. It is not faded anywhere, the chrome is all bright & shiny and in excellent condition. The black rubber on the bumpers is nice as well and not faded. The interior of the car is very close to mint throughout. It is 100% stock and original. Never been out and never modified in any way. You can see by the pics how nice the seats are. The back seat doesn't look like it's been sat in! There are a couple of dark spots on the driver seat as seen in the pics, I believe they would come off but I wasn't sure what to use or try and I didn't want to take a chance on such expensive seats. The only other thing worth noting on the inside is that the burl wood on top of the console in the shifter area has some light hairline cracking from age - see pics. The ash trays in the car are unused and like new and the carpets are excellent. The original floor mats, while not pictured, are included. The car was her baby and she took very good care of it and always had it serviced when it needed something. I have a file that is about 2 inches thick full of service receipts over the years. The car is located in Trout Run PA. You are more than welcome to view it by appointment. The car runs and drives and can be test driven, however, I would recommend having it transported to its new home. The tires (BF Goodrich Comp TA's), while showing excellent tread are aged and I would not trust them. Plus, as noted prior, they are in need of balancing and the car is pulling to the right. I am selling the car as-is, where is with no warranty expressed or implied. While I have described the car in detail to the very best of my ability, this is a 24 year old vehicle and I am sure there is a minor mark or little scratch that I have missed. It is a very nice car, but I would encourage any potential buyers to come and see it in person so you can see it first hand, for yourself. As noted, the car needs a little work, but nothing that appears major. It is a gorgeous vehicle and is ready for it's 2nd owner ever! Someone is going to get a very nice Jaguar that is pretty much like a time capsule! Clear title in hand and can be transferred any time! One final note: I obviously cannot personally make guarantees regarding the significance of the car, other than what the original owners were told by the dealership when the car was purchased new back in 1991. It is very rare to have the benefit of the original owners available to speak with on a 24 year old car, which is another reason that this car is special. I have been contacted by a couple of folks who have shared theories that this car has what is called a "TWR" kit on it, however this does not seem to be the case as the TWR does not have the black horizontal rubber bumpers. Those also have a wider opening in the rear lower valance where the exhaust tips extrude, a red reflector to the inside of each tip. This one does not have that and has a narrower, tighter fitting opening. I am told the TWR's also have the name "TWR" somewhere in front of the shifter. This does not have that. Also, haven't seen any TWR's with the red piping on the seats. I have not had anyone contact me that has been able to produce information on another car that is like this one. This 25 old car has been my personal daily driver car for the last 8 years and I have driven some 100,000 miles with it. I have moved on to a different car and have no space to keep this around. It is currently registered and inspected. It starts up thanks to a new battery, and runs and stops in a way that I feel comfortable to drive it locally. Being a high mileage car it will require ongoing TLC to be kept on the road. The car still presents nicely and gets attention when driven around. This would be an excellent candidate for a Chevy V8 conversion, for a partial restoration, or just drive locally as is. The body is in in good condition with only some minor rust starting to develop in a few spots that can be fixed easily and inexpensively. The car was regularly maintained to be a reliable driver. I had the rear differential rebuilt within my first year of ownership. The transmission was professionally rebuilt about 20k miles ago, the windshield was replaced some 10k miles ago and the radiator was professionally re-cored. The engine runs cool at any outside temperature. The oil pressure gauge is not working but despite the high mileage the engine is still running smoothly with modest oil consumption. The exhaust system has some leaks and will require attention. The paint is fading, the chrome is good, the rims are original and the tires will need to be replaced in the near future. The original ABS system was deactivated some 5 years ago as it was working unreliably and no parts were available then. It didn't ever bother me while driving thousands of miles with the car but wanted to disclose here. The AC isn't working and neither is the cruise control. The windshield seal wasn't properly set when the windshield was replaced and needs replacement if you want to drive in the rain. The interior is worn, the driver's seat has rips and tears in the leather. There are other signs of use and little things that could use some attention sooner or later. The car sold new at Jaguar of Darien CT and then one year later moved to Scottsdale AZ where the car has been ever since new. This model is the last of the pre-facelift cars, meaning that it retains the round USA-spec headlights (2 per side) and the individual taillights. These are also the last year of the two-seater convertibles. These cars have the 5.3 liter High Efficiency V-12 engine and a Turbo-Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission. The interior of the Classic Collection cars feature burl elm dashboards and trim and specially trimmed leather seats with contrasting piping. This particular car is equipped with the dealer optional Dayton wire wheels. I have owned this car for over 15 years and have maintained it the entire time I have owned it. This is evidenced by the extensive maintenance records that go with the car. I have also made updates to improve the performance and handling of the car. The handling updates do not change the appearance of the car, but they do change the GT car’s inherent “land-yacht” ride to a more sports car-like ride. It has some small dings and scratches from being driven and used, but it is still one of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen. Some of the paint has been scratched off of the edge of the drivers door ( shown in photo). The speed control is currently not working, but everything else does. The top goes up and down with no issues. The headliner is dirty because the previous owner (literally a little old lady from Texas) didn’t use the boot. As you can see in the photos, the boot is included as is it’s carrying case. There is a small crack in the windshield that has been there since I purchased the car 15 years ago. It does not go through to the back glass. As pictured, one of the wheels has been dented (by the previous owner.) It has not prevented me from enjoying the car for the past 15 years. The wheels are properly sealed and do not leak air. There are some surface cracks in the center console wood as you might expect from a 25-year old car. The original spec Pirelli P600 tires are mounted on the wheels. They have about 1,000 or fewer miles on them and look great. The spare tire has a factory Honeycomb-style wheel and the same tire I bought with the car in 2000. Car has Lojack installed. The original owner’s manual is in the glove box. A Jaguar Cars Inc. XJ-S Electrical Guide ring bound notebook is included. This car is consistently stored in my garage (next to my wife’s MGBGT.) This car is still being driven short distances. Here is a beautiful 1991 Collector’s Series XJS ragtop in fire engine red with the rare doe skin interior and a black canvas convertible top.It runs beautifully and smoothly, with 42891 original miles.I am the third owner, having acquired this car in 2008 from an individual seller in South Carolina. The original owner was from Florida.I added the chrome honeycomb rims, the red center caps, and the burl wood steering wheel and gear shift lever, and the chrome badge hood ornament.I installed new tires, a new radiator, new radiator fans and relays, a new heater core, new rubber pieces on the fuel injectors and the exhaust compressor line, a new exhaust system, and had it tuned.The only problem I have never solved is the A/C doesn’t get cold. Little is changed mechanically but the big news in the US is the availability of the AJ6 engine although now enlarged to 4 litre and mated to a four speed automatic. Outside, the slightly softer lines were only the tip of the iceberg as the bodyshell was now build from far fewer panels than the earlier version with additional rust proofing treatment. While the front end was for the most part unchanged, it is the rear which underwent the most changes with revised quarter windows, a new rear window and all new tail lights. Inside, the instrument panel was all new, loosing the drum styled engine gauges replaced by conventional dials flanking the two primary instruments, identical to the XJ40 panel. Extra veneer in the instrument cluster added a touch of luxury along with a new steering wheel and center console. V12 car received the same power bulge on the bonnet as the AJ6 models and US market XJS were now equipped with one piece Euro style Carello headlights. In Europe, the original one piece Cibie were also replaced with a Carello, although different from the US spec'd version.

I have sold scores of Jaguars in almost all their configurations. I know what to look for when buying an old Jag. When I looked this one over, I knew I had to own it. First, the body is SUPERIOR QUALITY! No paint work. Very few blemishes. Glowing paint and chrome. LASER STRAIGHT. The sun never damaged this Beauty. The interior is also excellent. Only some dye wearing off the driver's seat right where you rub on the seat bolster when you get in. An automotive detail shop will be able to touch up the seat edge if it bothers you. The wood, carpet, panels, rear storage, convertible boot and top are all in excellent condition. Only a few short hairline marks in the console wood near the rear to keep it from being flawless. There is a little plastic trim piece around the cruise control switch that needs replaced from being cracked. Sold here on ebay for about 40 bucks. The undercarriage had a wonderful job of rustproofing when it was new and has kept the body from rust. This is the body you want in a collector investment vehicle. I drove her to a cruise in Saturday night with the top down. I was a proud owner when I entered the show. How could I not be. This "Champagne" color is just gorgeous. They call the color Oyster, but I think Champagne describes the color more accurately. The Creamy, Ivory interior goes perfectly with this combo. So does the chocolate boot and top. The top goes down perfectly as do all four windows. She hits the road smoothly. Ran smoothly and shifted smoothly. That has always been my favorite way to describe what a Jag is all about. THEY ARE SMOOTH FOR SURE! Of course there are no flawless 25 year old cars, but as old Jaguars go, this is surely one of superior quality. I can not make these Ebay cars like new and still sell them at rock bottom pricing. So as always, I tell you everything I found that is not up to speed and let you decide how much preservation you want to do. There may be a vaccuum leak that is keeping the air conditioning from working properly. I say that because the cruise control is not working and I have seen a small vaccuum leak disable both systems. The fan does work. The engine bay is completely original, so a proper cleaning would be in order if you want to show the engine off. No restoration, just some cleaning. The state inspection ran out. It has been driven only about 300 miles to keep it stretched out since it was last inspected 3 years ago.The tires are excellent. She drives straight and vibration free. There is the normal road rash way under the body behind the tires. Nothing ignorant, but I would have some mudflaps installed to protect the area. The oil pressure gauge works, then it doesn't. A loose ground wire on the oil sending unit could be the answer. The gauges all read in the normal range. All in all, it would be hard to find a better old Jaguar ANYWHERE. This one will make you money when you are done and you will be a very proud owner along the way. I just looked this car up in the Hagerty Classic Car Insurance Value Guide. It shows the "average" XJS Convertible is selling for almost $15,000 dollars with upward movement in appreciation. Don't hesitate. Hit the buy now or make me a serious offer.
