This garage-kept and pampered sedan just turned 80,000 miles and all books, records, and service is up-to-date. This is the last and most desirable year for a W126 body Mercedes… all the refinements that were continually made throughout this models 12-year run are embodied in the 1991 Mercedes 560SEL. If you were wealthy in 1991 and wanted the finest automobile money could buy… you purchased a 560SEL. The 1991 is the pinnacle… the very last year of the hand-built Mercedes. In looking at this car it is obvious that it has always been garage kept. This sedan is the most desirable color combination of all… Black (040) with (flawless) gray leather… there is no body damage of any kind. That means no door dings, dents or scrapes of any kind. The body is straight and the paint is nearly as nice as it was the day it left the showroom. The bumpers are also excellent with only a small blemish here and there. The chrome and trim around the windows is beautiful. The entire interior is remarkable. The leather seats look new. The dash… perfect. The carpets… beautiful. The burl wood trim is free from cracks or cloudiness… crystal clear and like a mirror. The interior gauges are a deep orange color and not washed-out or sun-faded like most. I've been a car-nut for over 30 years, and the Mercedes W126 body has always been my favorite automobile hands down. I’ve owned 12 or 13 of these over the past 20 years, and this is one of the best I’ve had the pleasure of owning. This sedan is rattle-free, vibration-free, and rock-solid as you would expect from a hand-built Mercedes with only 80,000 miles. Just aligned, it drives like a new one and runs as smooth as glass on new ZR-rated Continental radials and perfect 17” AMG-styled alloy wheels with the proper offset. This car is fully prepped and a full service was completed just 6 months ago. While there are an abundance of lower-priced cars out there, beautiful, well-cared for examples such as this are getting more difficult to find. I have enjoyed this fine automobile for the past few years and it is now time to pass the keys to a new owner. As far as the mechanical end is concerned, it's good to know that some of the more important and common issues have already been addressed. Complete tune-up, plugs, cap, rotor, belts, hoses, filters, etc… all recent, as is a complete & thorough Brake Service. Rear Fuel Pump replaced 11-13. More involved repairs like the A/C Compressor and dehydrator have also already been taken care of. Same can be said about the rear SLS. Both sides… Done. The climate control works perfectly and the A/C will freeze you out of the car. The car drives straight and true and incredibly smooth. Everything works... the sunroof and windows open and close without hesitation. The power seats… even the rear power seat… operate flawlessly. The lights all work properly. Power door locks & Power antenna (all the way down) – all perfect. The Becker radio was inoperative when I got the car so I replaced it with a very nice Kenwood stereo, all new speakers, iPod, Bluetooth, etc. Fit and finish on the install is wonderful and professionally done. The sound is amazingly clear and better that original…. not to mention… trouble-free. In other words, this car will not require $5000 worth of service & major repairs the first year you own it! The day-to-day maintenance is up-to-date and the more costly issues have already been taken care of. I will include a perfect $300 flannel car cover with the purchase. I'm not a dealer but just a crazy car nut. I guess some would say I’m a "collector", but I really don’t collect them (not enough space!). I buy the finest examples I can find… take care of any requirements… enjoy them for a few years… and sell them to an appreciative new caretaker so that I may move on to something else. Folks, there just aren’t many left with this kind of mileage or in better overall condition. If you’re looking for a car like this, you probably already know that with proper maintenance, these cars can easily run forever... or at least for several hundred thousand miles! (there are many for sale with 250K to 350K miles… and still advertised as ‘like new’!) Yes, these automobiles are amazing, and at 80,000 miles, you can enjoy many, many years of trouble-free & safe driving in this incredible sedan. You will not find a finer car anywhere for similar money... NEGATIVES: As you can tell from the photos, this is a beautiful automobile, but as nice as it is, it is still 23 years old. There are a few small touch-up marks and a few blemishes here and there from normal use. The insulation under the hood needs to be replaced. The exhaust resonator is just beginning to make a slight noise. It’s not really noticeable, troublesome or annoying, however, it will need to be replaced at some point down the road… depending on usage. That’s it! If you want super nice, well-maintained & bullet-proof W126 body Mercedes Benz... this will prove to be the car. This is a world-class automobile for the price of a mid-level Hyundai. If you would like an exceptional and affordable daily driver, and you'd rather enjoy a classic Mercedes than a Kia or a Chevy Cobalt… this may be the right car for you.
