It has been kept in a climate controlled garage. The Portofino red paint looks like it did when new. The Sorrell beige leather is perfect and soft. No accidents. It was service by the dealers all through its life and I have most of the repairs receipts so very easy to trace and check. I have also the owner’s manual book with all info inside, rare!! When I bought this RR it had 146250 miles on it, he went to the dealer for maintenance and it shows, this one was not abuse and since it was meant to be my daily driver I change all the worn parts and even did some upgrade for prevention. Everything works like it should except the sunroof. I invite you to have it check by your mechanic or an independent third party so you know what you are buying and feel comfortable with it. This one has 4 new BILSTEIN SHOCKS, best on the market for the Range Rover which translates in a very comfortable ride, firm just as it should be, and actually with the center shock design it handles better than my P38 when taking curve, very safe handling with no play. This RR Classic features the following: The paint is brand new. Catalytic converter changed Cruise control works which is unusual. Power mirrors A/C Power windows Power steering Power seats Running board Bull bar Rear light protection grill Rear folding seat Radio/cassette Spare tire with all original tools Wood trim, genuine feature from Range Rover Brakes 80% left. New steering drop arm ball joint. 90% new bridgestone tires, very smooth drive and super handling with these tires. Exhaust was changed last year so looks like new. Start right up since all spark plugs and wire are almost new. Just passed smog so it had to be well tuned. The engine does not burn any oil. The transmission is smooth and shift like a new one. It doesn't only look like a tank it is also built like one. If you have any knowledge of the CLASSICS, you know these trucks are overbuilt and if taken care of properly (like it was) will run for a very long time. This is a workhorse. Oil was change every 8 K miles with mobil synthetic and the transmission every 30K miles, we just did it when I bought it along with the transfert case. Headliner is in very good shape. All fluids changed with synthetic oil, we did engine/transmission/front axle/rear axle/ transfert case. Brake fluid flushed. Power steering fluid flushed. Wheel alignment after changing the steering drop arm. All radiator hoses and clamp and thermostat have been replaced. Radiator checked for any leak. Mechanically it needs nothing. This Range Rover runs and drive like day one. If you are looking for a trouble free Range Rover this is the one. If it ever needed anything, it was at the dealer and taken care of. The inside is in a very good condition for such an old vehicule with only a few worn spots here and here. They age very well because they were well made it's that simple. Everything work like it should except the sunroof. The price new in today $ would be $112,000 for this model. So for a price for under $20,000 it is 6 times cheaper than for a new one and it is a bargain for the driving condition it's in and the general condition. A few months ago one classic sold at the auction in England for 50,000 pounds which is $82500 and I have the paper to prove it. These RR classic are going up in value by the day so you will always get your money back if you ever need to part with it for any reason. It has a few nick and ding here and there on the bumpers (as seen on pictures) because it is a 23 year old car, if you want a show room or concours d'elegance first price winner this is not your vehicule (if you want a new one bring $120,000 and go to the dealer) but if you want the most reliable RANGE ROVER classic out there with nothing to fix here it is, don't look no further, you will never find one in that mechanical condition. My mechanic told me that this one is halfway and when you drive it you know it's the truth. I drove it to Los Angeles last week and it cruise like a new car. Of course you could buy one for less than $10,000 but you will have to spend a lot of money to get it running trouble free like mine and look like mine. I am selling it only because I bought a P38 special edition HOLLAND and HOLLAND (a rare P38 indeed) otherwise I would never part with it, but I can't drive both at the same time so here it is for sale. I have the title on my name so no problem. Registration is good until February 2016 so you are good to go. I will not take any low ball offer, because I know the value of this car when compare to all the abused one for sale, so if this is your intention please stay home and save your time for something more productive. BODY CONDITION:, Pretty much like original. We purchased this vehicle in Lake Forest IL in 1991 and drove it to Santa Barbara CA in 1992. It was a garaged third car and has had no exposure to snow, very little exposure to rain. There were few minor scrapes, but no accidents, and the paint is the sought-after Eastnor green, beautiful, glossy, throughout--virtually no dings or scratches, this car was always parked in end spots away from any threat of a door ding. Where there were repairs, we always retained the top talent in body shop selection. INTERIOR: The tan leather seating is pretty much as new, with slightly more wear on edge of driver seat, but no wear through or tears. the console and dashboard is all as new. The (real) wood trim is beautiful. The headliner has never been touched and is fine. The rear storage area is pretty much as new. The automatic seats and sunroof operate as new. gear readout at base of shift knob is a little off, but no problem. MECHANICAL We have retained all records since new (even from before we bought it) and they are organized and available buy email. We purchased a 100000 mile extended warrantee when the car had 26898 miles on it. A condition of the warrantee was that all factory services and inspections must have been complied with. As a result, the preventative maintenance program was by the book, the warrantee paid for many things, and we could afford to pay the rest. There were little repairs and services, but the important repair at 125839 miles was blown cylinder head gasket. As a result the cooling system was polluted and was overhauled/replaced. While they had the heads off, they did a valve job and other related updates. So the car now has 167590 miles and is runs mechanically like a car with 40000 miles on it, as it did when it was new. We have heard horror stories regarding mechanical problems and costs of this type vehicle, but we have not suffered those. 98% of repairs and inspections were done by authorized Range Rover dealers. The only flaws now that we are aware of are a blinking coolant light and blinking EFI light. We have continued to drive it with those indicators for several years, as it runs perfectly. When the EFI was analyzed by the RR dealer, they could pull up no faults. I know the coolant is OK, as other than normal evaporation, it stays filled to the top, and the engine does not overheat. In 2006, we bought a new RR and decided to keep this one, as we loved it. We drove it from Santa Barbara to Ephraim WI, where we had a summer residence. We left it there for our use when visiting, and stored it inside the rest of the year. This year we decided to stop our WI visits, so shipped the car back to SB 3 weeks ago. In the last 10 years, the total mileage, including the 2500 mile road trip was approximately 13000 miles--about 1000 mile per year. We have loved this car, it served us well, but we no longer have the garage space in SB that it needs. We are happy to answer any questions. This is a very special automobile, truly a classic. If you're a Rover nut like me, it will be a great read and make total sense. If you're not, then I'll cut to the chase. This is a remarkable 1999 P38 Land Rover Range Rover 4.6 HSE with only 84K miles that lived its entire life in San Antonio, TX under the care of just ONE OWNER. All services completed by the Dealer and it is fully sorted and ridiculously built/kitted out, ready for the road or your next off-road adventure. Major mechanical changes occurred under BMW's ownership beginning in 1999 so the ’99-’01 examples are revered as the "Ones to Own". Now the details... My son had decided that a P38 was destined to be his "first" rig/build so I started the hunt. I've owned a Rover of some flavor since 1992, five of which have been P38s and I am keenly aware of all the subtle nuances both good and bad. I alerted all my contacts in TX and AZ to be on the lookout for a very special example that would satisfy my requirements of being low mileage with all services documented no accidents and cosmetically sound. Three months into the search I was contacted about a One Owner, Epsom Green, 2000 HSE in Dallas, TX w/ 81K miles that fit the bill. I had it inspected and subsequently shipped up to me. My son was ecstatic and after a bit of sorting the rig was deemed perfect for him. Fast forward two weeks later and another one of my contacts called and said he had the perfect Rover for us that lived in San Antonio, TX. I responded that one was already found and purchased but he continued to describe another One Owner, 1999 HSE finished in Blenheim Silver Metallic example with only 80K miles that again, had everything documented as well as some very significant recent maintenance. Well, I had it inspected and shipped up. So there we were, two fantastic P38s that are impossible to find with the right history and super low miles. I went through the process of fully sorting this one out as well and gave my son the choice. I was confident in both being an adequate choice but really had hoped he would choose this one with the big ticket maintenance items just completed (Head Gaskets, Seals, Axles, A/C, Etc.) and he did. We then proceeded to make this the most remarkable and capable P38 Rangie in existence (No Expense Spared). We built this to handle the roughest and most challenging off-road terrains along with providing a comfortable and reliable form of daily transportation for him. Since completion this past May, he has logged 4K miles and been the center of attention everywhere he’s traveled. This rig garners more attention than you can even imagine. Recently my son came to me with an idea for an even more extreme rig so here she is for sale to free up some cash to start the new project. The paint shines like new and the interior is spotless, absent of the typical leather wear as it has been cleaned and conditioned since new. We sorted this gal with the intent my son would be able to enjoy it worry-free for many years to come. Low mileage P38s are few and far between let alone ones that had only One Owner and all Services completed by the dealer during their ownership. It has never seen a snow flake thus the underside is just as clean and rust free as the shiny side. Well, if you read thru this you’ve probably figured out that nothing was overlooked as this is likely the most over-built Range Rover in existence. I doubt it could be replicated regardless of the depth of your pockets as you just can’t find a P38 worthy of this type of investment and time. Left-hand drive 1963 Series 2A soft-top rebuilt on 1992 Range Rover platform with coil sprung chassis, 3.9L V8 engine, ZF automatic transmission, power steering, disc brakes, heat and more. Most capable Series you will ever find! Never belonged to a duke or duchess, didn't transport injured soldiers to safety in the Falklands, never been to the moon and wasn't a "rare barn find." The only story here is that this Rover is a beast! I'll let you finish the story to go along with this vehicle. I will say this it the way that Land Rover should have built the Defender - 100" wheelbase, 2+" of lift, 32" mud tires on NATO wheels, 24" of clearance, winch bumper, extended cab and no other bells/whistles. This Land Rover is capable of anything. Great to drive - vintage looks with modern capabilities. Pick it up today and hit the trail tomorrow. If you are considering other Rovers, my personal comments from my own experience are that unless you deliver mail, right-hand drive gets old; Rover hardtops are hot and noisy - not to mention they weigh a ton; 45MPH top speed gets f......r.....u.....s.....t.....r.....a.....t....i.....n.........g; 4-cylinder engines are about 4-cylinders underpowered, Series drum brakes are constant maintenance and illegal imports get confiscated upon entry. This is an original left-hand drive Series 2A that I have owned and had registered in New York since 1997. In 2010 it was rebuilt from the frame up, on my 1992 Range Rover County 100" coil sprung chassis, utilizing the factory Land Rover V8 motor, drive train, axles and diffs. (I was the second owner of the Range Rover "donor platform" and have owned it since 1999.) The Range Rover was equipped with OME HD springs, Bilstein shocks (lifetime guarantee - left-front needs replacement) and shock lowering mounts (awesome articulation). During the rebuild project, nearly everything was replaced, serviced, rebuilt or repaired. The project started with a brand new Defender bulkhead. I also had a full professional rebuild on the automatic transmission less than 3K miles ago. There are 117.5K miles on the odometer. There are approximately 127K miles on the chassis/drivetrain. As good as the pictures look, up close the paint is rough. It was sprayed white to match the Defender bonnet, windscreen and radiator support, and the tub interior is still Series Pastel Green. Terms & Conditions - Note, this was a rebuild project – not a restoration. It is far from perfect. It has dents, dings, imperfections and wear and tear representative of a vehicle of this era. It also has custom and non-genuine elements incorporated over the years, so purists be warned. Of course, it will always need care and attention. Classic Rovers were truly over-engineered and will last forever, but will still require on-going care, maintenance and repair. If you are unsure of your ability to keep up with needs of a unique, older vehicle, you should probably look at other options.
