Up for sale is a beautiful 1992 RED MERCEDES 190e with the larger and more powerful 2.6, six cylinder engine. The motor and transmission are VERY strong with less than 180,000 miles and driven less than 7,500 miles per year. This car is a daily driver and it is an absolute pleasure to drive. I am flexible on the price and I will consider all reasonable offers but I will not just give it away SO MAKE ME AN OFFER I CAN'T REFUSE!!! I recently purchased the car from the original owner 2 years ago. The car has been well taken care of with all service records present and it is very clean and 100% original, including the paint! The car has good brakes, suspension, tires, new battery and has recently been inspected. The A/C works and blows cold. The car drives beautifully, tracks true and straight, and is very comfortable and quiet! Current known issues are: the engine stalls at red lights and stop signs occasionally but very seldom, the rear driver side window will not roll all the way up, the drivers door lock does not work with the key, the cruise control does not work, the engine runs a little hot during the summer but the temperature does return to normal when the fan kicks on. There are minor imperfections in the interior and minor dings and paint wear, all imperfections are representative of a 25 year old car, including some fading on the exterior. The Kenwood radio works well and so does the power antenna but the radio will cut off sometimes unexpectedly, probably due to a loose wire. The sunroof works but one corner does not close flush with the roof, there are no leaks from the sunroof. The power seats work with the exception of the passenger side power head rest. The interior upholstery and headliner are in beautiful condition with some minor pulling away of the door panels. The issues that the car has are very minor and typical of these cars and are easy fixes. The car does not smoke but does leak a little bit of oil. This car can very easily be restored and can be driven and enjoyed while doing so. I have truly enjoyed owning this Mercedes and was going to restore it but I have decided to sell the vehicle. The car has never been in an accident and has very little to no rust (no visible rust on the body that can be seen, only your standard engine bay and underside rust that is very minimal). The car has been garage kept and is very presentable for being 25 years old! It is very hard to find a RED Mercedes with this very desirable color combination and in this condition! This car needs a little TLC from someone that loves Mercedes and a few minor and quick repairs. The repairs I would recommend would be to replace the engine gaskets simply due to its age, cruise control module, catalytic converter, a good tune up and the other minor issues mentioned above. This car can easily be brought back to near showroom condition with a paint respray. If you love Mercedes cars and you are looking for a great car to restore this is a great starting point for a beautiful restoration! These cars are about to start climbing in value as many of them are now hitting the 25 year mark! This car was over engineered and designed to travel 300,000 miles or more. Hello, with deep regret I feel the time has come to pass on my most prized possession, my pristine 1988 Mercedes Benz 190e 2.3. Original California car since purchased from Caliber Motors in Anaheim Hills CA on October 11, 1988. ***Please note, I am the 4th owner*** Car just received fresh Mercedes Benz oil change at Fletcher Jones Mercedes-Benz Newport Beach on saturday 10/24, as well as a complete wash and detail. No expenses have ever been spared. I purchased this exceptional 1988 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3 on Jan 28, 2015. The car was acquired from the second owner sometime in May 2014 by the third owner. Then I purchased the car in January 2015. Previous maintenance that I am aware of prior to my ownership was done in 2006 at Ruben's Imports in Dana Point included replacing the water pump, and thermostat at 80,000 miles. Also during another routine service as dated under the hood, in 2005 the air conditioning was completely and professionally retrofitted from R-12 to R-134a. Since my ownership, this car has been just about 100% restored, cosmetically as well as mechanically. Such restoration includes, but is not limited to, NOTHING but OEM or equal Mercedes-Benz quality replacement parts such as: ALL BRAND NEW REPLACED SINCE 2/2015. The early model 190E's have a thin body trim and is much more appealing in my opinion rather than the thick body skirt look of the 190E's from 1989-1992. 1988 was the last year with the thin body trim, but first with tilt sunroof standard, as well as the "check engine light" ODB1 computer diagnostic system, only equipped on california cars. Let alone to mention the astonishing color combo of 702 Smoke Silver Metallic and 175 Creme Beige MB tex vinyl. This car is 100% original quality paint and interior. The steering wheel is firm and thick, not soft and squishy from years left out in the california sun. The horsehair in the seats are firm and comfortable, just as they were brand new in 1988. The dash is very clean, yet shows 3 small cracks near the speakers from age sadly. The air conditioner cools you immediately to comfort. The instrument cluster flaunts slightly faded orange needles but overall in outstanding condition. You will not find 1 single stain on any square inch of the carpets or seats on the entire interior, no food is allowed inside the vehicle. The car does not smell as some older Mercedes-Benz do, but a pleasant clean smell. The original radio and antenna function 100%. All 8 glass windows on the vehicle are original Sekurit or Sigla, with 1 blemish to the drivers side windshield which has been "glue" patched at some point. The vehicle comes with a nice large stack of original dealership 1988 190E brochures as well as manuals, and original dealership license plate insert from Caliber Motors in Anaheim Hills in 1988. The handling, shocks, and suspension, are ever so tight much as a Mercedes-Benz can be expected to feel. All door and body panels exemplify their original VIN# sticker, except the right rear quarter panel, the trunk lid, and rear bumper, were all replaced by Mercedes-Benz in 1997 [hence the european warning triangle in the trunk lid] No noticeable body works signs whatsoever. FLAWS: Unfortunately with any vehicle 27 years old, flaws are expected. Although there are hardly any major flaws on this car. Now I understand that the new owner may be purchasing this 190 from several miles away, and a pre-purchase viewing will only be initiated if the car fits such criteria, which i will try my best to expose in the photos. ***Please note, vehicle was purchased with all damage previously done***1. 3 deep Scuff/Scratch; Lower left rear quarter panel and left rear corner of bumper.2. Spider-web scratches on roof from cheap drive-through car washes from previous owner3. Faint Clearcoat fading on driver side door arches above door handles4. Very small "Buff-burn" on left side of hood ridge, (smaller than half a penny.)5. Good sized key mark on rear passenger side door.6. 2 small dings on passenger side A-Pillar7. INTERIOR: 3 small cracks around speakers on dash8. "glue-filled" rock chip on driver side windshield Everything works on this entire vehicle just as it did the day it left Caliber Motors Anaheim hills in 1988. Never originally available in the USA, this is precisely the first time that this rare automobile is being offered for sale completely legal for ownership and on-road use! This is an extremely rare opportunity to own one of the most iconic homologation specials ever produced by the masters at Mercedes Benz. A true thoroughbred, the 190E Evo 2 swept the 1992 German Touring Car Championship and was the epitome of engineering and speed at the time. It is widely considered the first Supercar to have been born a sedan! With Aerodynamics designed and tested by German Scientist and an Engine further tweaked by Cosworth, the Evo 2 was the culmination of Mercedes Benz expertise for the purpose of motorsports domination. Produced May 30, 1990, this vehicle was procured and imported at exactly 25 Years of age - Box 1 Designation on the HS-7 Import Declaration (Import Declaration Form is presented below). Also because EBAY does not recognize this exotic vehicles VIN # - the listing was created with a year of 1980. Introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March of 1990, the 190E Evo 2 was created to satisfy DTM sanctions requiring a production version of all competing race vehicles. Over the years Mercedes Benz had gathered a vast amount of data on their touring race cars and had pushed development beyond the capacities of the standard vehicle. The popularity of touring cars was at an all time high and the DTM racing program was realizing world wide success reminiscent of Group B Rallying days. In order to further increase performance, drastic changes needed to be made to all aspects of the vehicle - and these changes would have to appear on the production version. The motorsports division, now known as AMG, was given unlimited resources in order to build a champion race car. The result was extensive modifications of Chassis, Aerodynamics and Engine Power that was aimed strictly at competition victory. Wind Tunnel testing helped to create the impressive aerodynamics package that would alter nearly every body panel of the vehicle! With a focus on function, this car looks brutally honest as its intentions are quite visible: downforce and stability. The Engine, previously developed by Mercedes Benz, was modified additionally by the experts at Cosworth to create more power as well as retain reliability. Unheard of at the time, this 2.5L 4 Cylinder created 235HP with a sound and rush that was unique and intoxicating. In race trim, the 2.5L would develop nearly 400HP. A close ratio 5 speed transmission was developed with a revised shift pattern keeping the most used gears inline. Another motorsports derived part, this unique 5 speed transmission was known as the dogleg gearbox. The ride height of the race vehicle was extremely low and for the production car to maintain useability Mercedes employed a height adjustable hydraulic suspension system that would allow the car to traverse the back roads just as easily as it did the race track. Creature comforts were offered as options all the while these vehicles were the most expensive offering from Benz at the time. 1956 Mercedes 190SL “Mercy” This 1956 Mercedes 190SL represents what is wonderful about the classic car market. This original car has been meticulously cared for, with every careful step documented and has remained in one family for the last sixty-eight years. Mercy was handed down from generation to generation and cared for as a family heirloom should be. Mercy was treated to an eight year full nut and bolt restoration with an eye for exacting detail, strictly following factory specifications, that was completed in 1999 just in time to compete in the Santa Barbara Concours d’Elegance in September of that year, where it was awarded a 2nd place finish. You just can’t find a better example of a 190SL with such careful records and precise ownership history anywhere. Percival C. “Dobie” Keith, Jr. was responsible for the design, construction and startup of the Oak Ridge uranium processing plant during World War II. He purchased this rare collectible as a gift for his wife, Anne, in December of 1956 on a business trip to Germany. Before taking delivery of the car from a dealership in Dusseldorf, Anne insisted that the dealership mount a St. Christopher medal on the glove compartment door, where it can still be seen today. The car was shipped to New York and then driven to “Windfall” the Keith’s Estate in Peapack, New Jersey. The car was only driven sparingly in the summer and carefully stored on blocks in the winter. From then until the complete restoration project began in 1992 the car remained in the Keith family and was driven only occasionally and maintained meticulously. The stewardship of this vehicle from generation to generation is testimony to the virtue of respect. Respect for family and respect for this heirloom. Since the completion of the restoration the family has entered Mercy into a number of shows to be judged. Mercy has accumulated a number of 1st and 2nd place finishes, including a 2nd place in the Mercedes Benz National Convention.
