THIS IS A RARE OPPORTUNITY. THESE TRUCK CONVERSIONS DON'T COME UP FOR SALE VERY OFTEN. The Chevrolet C series trucks were built from 1960-1999. That is a 39 year production run. The C series was finally replaced by the Silverado in 1999. Chevrolet has been at the forefront of design and performance since the beginning. Today, consumers can walk into a dealership and basically order any power, comfort, or convenience option directly from the factory. However, just a few short decades ago, this was not the case. Especially in the truck and van models, available luxury options were limited. The only way to obtain a high end vehicle was to order a conversion. The conversions were basic units sent directly from the factory to an aftermarket company, who converted the vehicles into high end models by adding comfort, convenience, and style upgrades. One of the most well known of these companies was Mark III Industries. Mark III Industries, formerly located in Ocala, FL., was the largest truck and van conversion company in the world back in the heyday of the conversion craze. Mark III Industries was light years ahead of most conversion companies. The Ocala facility actually had eight production lines converting all makes and models of vans and trucks into high end, luxury units. Unlike the other companies, virtually all the components that were installed on a Mark III conversion were manufactured and produced within the Ocala plant. All wood trim was cut and shaped with automated laser machines to insure uniformity. The Ocala factory had its' own sewing shop and a cabinet shop. All paint work was performed in a state of the art, high tech facility that utilized air currents to prevent even miniscule dust and dirt particles from settling on the paint before it dried. They truly had a corner on the market, and thousands of vehicles passed through their plant. Although first popularized by their conversion vans, they quickly recognized customer demand and branched out to truck conversions. In their peak production years, there were approximately 1,850 employees and over 1,200 conversions per week were rolling off the assembly lines. Mark III was also instrumental in the fight against pollution. These anti pollution procedures were instituted well before government mandated regulation. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) are a dangerous by products of the processes of conversions. Between 1988-1991, Mark III reduced the emission of VOC by 38%, at a cost to them of over $600,000. This forward thinking company not only reduced pollution in the atmosphere, but also improved the work environment for the employees. They accomplished this through substitution and reformulation of materials, improved application methods and equipment, changes in raw materials, changes in gluing methods, and the elimination of most of the paint procedures through the application of a revolutionary and somewhat unknown process at the time, vinyl graphics. Yes, Mark III was one of the pioneers in the vinyl graphics industry. The company was also the biggest employer in the Ocala area. In 1993 , in a state where manufacturing was one of the fastest shrinking sectors, Mark III posted total sales of $738 million, an increase of 91% from the previous year. Mark III was the 12th largest private company in the state of Florida in 1993. The goliath of conversion vehicles ran into multiple problems in the late '90's. They were hit extremely hard by two primary factors: 1) A vastly shrinking market; 2) Increasing competition from other conversion companies, and also the car manufacturers themselves, who were now selling a new popular vehicle dubbed the Sport Utility Vehicle, or SUV. In addition, as the new Millennium arrived, all the manufacturer's expanded their own luxury option lists on all vehicles, reducing the need for an aftermarket company. They began by closing their satellite companies, such as Tiara Motor Coach in Goshen, IN. In 1998, Mark III Industries was purchased by, and merged with, Glaval Corp., a transit and shuttle bus manufacturer. By mid 2001, the company closed its' doors, signifying the end of an era. Mark III Industries is recognized as the biggest and best conversion company in history. The quality control, along with attention to detail, and progressive thinking, is responsible for the fact that many examples of their work are still roadworthy today. A company named East Coast Custom Vehicles, formerly East Coast Auto Toys, in Riverhead, NY., is currently offering Mark III custom parts and service, but it is unknown if they build complete vehicles. Well known are the thousands of conversion vans that were manufactured. Lesser recognized and much rarer are the truck conversions. As the buying public shifted their use of pickup trucks from solely a work truck, to a full time vehicle, Mark III followed the trend by offering their conversion packages to truck owners. Now a proud pickup owner could add all the luxury and comfort components that the van owners had enjoyed for years. This van starts, runs, drives and stops excellent in every way. I have driven this van 2000 miles to Houston and back towing a cargo trailer, it is a very tight vehicle and will not disappoint you. This van was locally owned, very well maintained and came to us from the dry southwest (completely rust free, see photos underneath) desert. I never realized how hard it is to buy a cargo like this until I started searching at the request of one of my clients to add to his fleet. I have driven this van more than 250 miles, it runs and drives excellent in every way, cruises comfortably at 70mph on the highway, gets great gas mileage and has good power. At this time I also have some AWD full size vans, AWD astro vans and 2 hightop wheel chair equipped vans available Condition, Options and Drivetrain: The body and paint are very good, under the hood is a great running Vortec V6 engine, auto transmission, we just installed 4 brand new General Grabber all weather tires, a new windshield and more. The non smoking interior is very clean, easy to clean vinyl floors, equipped with auto headlights, tilt wheel, tint, cruise control, AC/heat, push button tow package on the dash, AM/FM, trip computer and everything works as it should. The rear of this van was very lightly used, is loaded up with Adrian Steel shelving, bins, drawers and a cargo barrier, all appear to be brand new. This van needs nothing, is ready for work, will represent your company very well and will not disappoint you. Though in excellent overall condition, this is a used 7 year old van and as you would expect there are imperfections, scratches, dings, wear, etc. I am being very "nit-picky" on some of this stuff because I value my reputation/feedback. The Story: This AWD van was government owned, fleet maintained and came to us from the dry southwest (completely rust free, see photos underneath) desert. I never realized how hard it is to buy a van like this until I started searching at the request of one of my clients to add to his fleet. I also was not prepared to like vans nor enjoy driving one but I have to admit, they are great. I have put 150 miles on this van, it runs and drives excellent in every way, it is a road trip machine, cruises comfortably at 70mph on the highway, gets good gas mileage and has a lot of power. I have been so impressed with these vehicles I have since bought an extended GMC 3500 4X4 van of my own and am converting it into a road trip/back country camping rig for my family. At this time I also have some full size vans and 2 bubbletop wheel chair lift equipped vans available Condition, Options and Drivetrain: The body and paint are excellent, well above average, under the hood is a very strong 5.3 Vortec V8 engine, auto transmission, AWD, stabiltrak stability control system, like new heavy duty General Grabber tires and more. The non smoking interior is super clean, equipped with keyless entry, tilt wheel, power windows, locks, tint, cruise control, front/rear AC/heat, push button tow package on the dash, AM/FM/CD, trip computer and everything works as it should. This van needs nothing, is ready for work or play and will not disappoint you. Please note: this van has a push button tow mode button on the dash but does not have a rear receiver hitch thus has never towed anything. Though in excellent overall condition, this is a used 6 year old van and as you would expect there are imperfections, scratches, dings, wear, etc. I am being very "nit-picky" on some of this stuff because I value my reputation/feedback. The front bumper has a large dent in it, we can discuss replacement if you need it (see photos) There is a small stain on the driver's seat, I think it could be removed with patience (see photos) There is a small crack in the driver's side mirror (see photos) There are 4-5 little "bleached" places on the carpet in the rear pass. corner (see photos)There is a small place below the rain gutter on pass. side where the paint has lifted, a common GM issue (see photos)There are a few road chips on the front edge of the hood, little normal scuffs and stuff but nothing worth photographing. I never realized how hard it is to buy a full size AWD van like this until I started searching at the request of one of my clients. I have put over 150 miles on this van, it starts, runs and drives excellent in every way, it is an excellent road trip machine, cruises comfortably at 70mph on the highway, gets great gas mileage and has lots of power. Condition, Options and Drivetrain: The body and paint are about average, is rust free (see photos) under the hood is a great running 5.3L Vortec V8 engine, auto transmission, all wheel drive, the all weather tires are like new and more. The non smoking, tan cloth interior is immaculate, has manual windows and locks, tinted glass, front/rear AC/heat, push button tow package on the dash, AM/FM/CD and everything works as it should. This van needs nothing, is ready for work or play and will not disappoint you. Please note: this van has a push button tow mode button on the dash but does not have a rear receiver hitch and I assume has never towed anything. Though in excellent overall condition, this is a used 10 year old van and as you would expect there are imperfections, scratches, dings, wear, etc. I am being very "nit-picky" on some of this stuff because I value my reputation/feedback. The Story: This is good clean 12 passenger van, adult driven, never abused, non smoking and very well maintained. This van starts, runs, drives and stops excellent in every way. I have driven this van more than 200 miles, it is a good tight vehicle and will not disappoint you. Options and Equipment: Has a strong running 5.4 Triton V8 engine, auto trans, front/rear AC, seats 12, non smoking gray vinyl interior, good paint, good glass and never any rust (see photos underneath) We upholstered the front seat bottoms, installed a new windshield, painted the bumpers, preformed a full inspection, including brakes and undercarriage, it will be professionally cleaned inside before it ships. Though in excellent condition, this is a used 15 year old fleet van and as you would expect there are imperfections, scratches, dings, wear, etc. I am being very "nit-picky" on some of this stuff because I value my reputation/feedback. The Story: This wheelchair lift equipped high top handicap van was lightly used, fleet maintained and came to us from the dry southwest (rust free, see underside photos) desert. We inspected the brakes and mechanicals, installed a new windshield, had it cleaned, gave it an oil change/filter service and it is ready to get to work. This van starts, runs, drives, stops excellent in every way and will make someone very happy to own it. Condition, Options and Drivetrain: This 1 ton van has been heavily modified with a high top roof conversion, a Braun Millennium Series wheel chair lift, custom seating etc. The body and paint are excellent, under the hood is a very strong 5.4L Triton V8 engine, auto transmission, the tires are like (90%) new, new windshield and more. The non smoking interior is clean, equipped with cruise control, front/rear AC/heat, AM/FM stereo, tilt wheel, tinted glass and everything works as it should. This van needs nothing, is ready to roll and will not disappoint you. Though in excellent overall condition, this is a used 8 year old van and as you would expect there are imperfections, scratches, dings, wear, etc. I am being very "nit-picky" on some of this stuff because I value my reputation/feedback. There is some minor damage where the wheelchair lift has contacted the side doors (see photos) There are some scratches on the rear bumper (see photos) There is some tape on a lower dash panel, I will try to replace with something better (see photos) There are some little pin holes in a dash panel to the right of the steering wheel.There is some minor discoloration/wear marks on some of the seats (email for photo)There are a few little normal wear/tear scuffs and stuff but nothing worth photographing.
