I have for sale my dark green 1997 Audi A8 Quattro sedan. I purchased this car for my girlfriend but she wanted something smaller so I found her an A6 instead. There are a few odds and ends that could be addressed to make this an excellent daily driver but as it sits now it is a solid running vehicle for the price and vintage. The original engine has a bit over 142000 miles on it currently. The crucial timing belt service was performed at 110,771 miles on 12/27/2010 and included replacement of the water pump and thermostat. The transmission was rebuilt at approximately 85,000 miles and the transmission filter and fluid was recently completed. A new battery was installed in 8/2013. The tires are a matching set of OEM sized Kumho Solus KR21s. Brake pads front and rear are recently replaced and have plenty of life left of them and in the rotors in all four corners are in good shape as well. I'm sure I am missing a lot of details on maintenance but I will try to provide as many pictures of receipts as possible. The exterior isn't perfect but it looks very good for an 18 year old car. The car has been in the southwest it's whole life and has not one speck of rust or corrosion. There are scratches and imperfections but the car still cleans up very nicely. The front bumper has a few cracks in it but the biggest one was in the center on the bottom and I managed to use a drill and two zip ties to "fix" it to make it look more presentable. The previous owner had the car repainted because the original clear coat began to oxidize due to intense desert sun. The light cream colored leather seats are in great shape as well as the rest of the interior. There are no cracks in the dash. The car has both cold climate package and warm weather package. The four heated seats work. The front seats both have several memory options and are adjustable so many different ways. The headrests are operated via switch but they do not work. It is a common problem and there is an easy do-it-yourself fix for it to be found several places on line. The rear sunshade is sporadic and sometimes needs a nudge to move into position. The rear seat's center armrest has a pass-thru opening into the trunk to fit long items such as skiis or poles. It is amazing how many options can be found on this Audi! The rear windows both have manual sunshades. The glass on this vehicle is dual-paned for better insulation and sound deadening. The sunroof functions as it should. The steering wheel electronically adjusts and can be set to each driver's liking using the memory seat option. The car has power door locks, side mirrors, windows, steering, etc. The window regulator on the rear driver's side is currently not working; the other three windows go up and down as should. I have one key and one remote but the remote needs a new battery. The factory radio and CD changer are all original and still work surprisingly well. There are no dead pixels on the LCD display as is fairly common with these D2 generation A8s. The only other issues I can think of are the ABS and Brake lights are both on in the dash because the left front speed sensor needs to be replaced. The previous owner had the problem diagnosed but since it doesn't hinder the car's drivability he left it alone. Also, the AC and heat both work exceedingly well but the auxiliary fan is intermittent and it will need to be replaced if you want the cold or hot air to blow at you from the vents. I cannot think of anything else. I will add more information to the listing if anything comes to mind. We would keep this vehicle but we live in an apartment and just don't have the space to park it. The original Audi S4, built from 1991 until 1994, as a performance-oriented version of Audi's 100 saloon/sedan. All subsequent S4s since 1997 have been based on the Audi A4; and as the A4 has evolved from one generation to the next, so has the S4. Like its regular A4 counterpart, all S4 variants have had longitudinally oriented, front-mounted engines. A single turbocharged 2.2 liter inline five-cylinder powered the original C4 version, and a 2.7 liter twin turbocharged V6 engine was found in the B5 generation. The B6 and B7 versions shared a common 4.2 liter V8 engine, the first time that a V8 engine was placed in a compact executive car, placing it in direct competition with the BMW M3 which at the time had a 3.2 L inline 6. The recently introduced B8 generation uses a supercharged 3.0 liter V6 TFSI engine and competes with the BMW 335i. All versions of the S4 have their transmission mounted immediately at the rear of the engine in a longitudinal orientation, in the form of a transaxle, and like all Audi "S" cars, are only available as standard with Audi's Quattro four-wheel drive (4WD) system, using a Torsen-based centre differential system. All versions of the S4 have been manufactured at Audi's plant in Ingolstadt, Germany; they are, or have been available as a four-door five-seat saloon and a five-door five-seat Avant (Audi's name for an estate car/station wagon) body styles since the model's inception in 1991. A two-door four-seat Cabriolet (convertible) S4 variant was introduced as part of the B6 and B7 generation A4 lineups. The B8 Cabriolet has now been built off the A5 coupe body style and the "S" variant is marketed under the Audi S5 nameplate. 5th Gen the B8 At the heart of the B8 S4 powertrain is an all-new, all aluminum- 3.0 liter TFSI Supercharged (TFSI) V6 engine (parts code prefix: 06E, identification code: CAKA), and like the rest of the B8 model range, now with Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI). This petrol engine displaces 183 cu in, and it is rated by Audi to a power output of 329 bhp from 5,500 to 7,000 rpm. Torque is rated at 325 lbf*ft from 2,900 to 5,300 rpm. This high power output is achieved by utilizing forced induction - and specifically, an all-new Eaton 'Twin Vortices Series' (TVS) Roots-type positive displacement compressor. This engine is mated to either a six-speed manual transmission (identification code: KMR) or a seven-speed 'S tronic' DL501 dual clutch transmission identification code: LHK), the latter with steering wheel mounted paddle-shifters for Tiptronic gear selection, which replaces the Tiptronic automatic transmissions found in the B6/B7 iterations. The 'Audi Quattro Sports differential' fitted in the rear axle final drive unit is available as an option.
