The steering wheel is on the correct side too (left hand drive). Full ownership history, all original books, two sets of original keys, all original tools and pouches. Rare double spare tire option (on rear door and hood). Also comes with the FIVA certificate of Historic Relevance. It is equipped with power disk brakes, power steering, and a tow hitch. I personally bought and imported this Landy this past Summer while visiting family in Europe. I drove it about 6000 kilometers (so approx 3500 miles) so I can tell you everything there is to know about it. Known history from day one: The car was first sold in 1991 in the province of Bergamo, Italy, to the owner of a local gas station. He then traded it in to a Land Rover Dealer in 1997 where another gentleman from Bergamo bought it and kept it until 2002, when it was purchased by an architect again from the same province. The last owner was a young man from (you guessed it…) Bergamo with a passion for English cars who bought it and spent some considerable time overhauling the interior with all original Land Rover foams, seat covers, floor mats, rear door panel, tail lights, headlight bezels and radiator cover grille, refinishing and detailing it very well. He even had the original tool pouch restored and gathered all the ownership information above, along with getting the car’s historical certificate from FIVA through the local ASI club (Auto-moto Club storico Italiano), that did so after inspecting the car and it’s history. The car has (and is) always been garaged, and I was told it never did any sort of off-road. The undercarriage of the car shows consistently: there is no sign of any contact between the bottom of the chassis and the ground (while normally you can see dings and signs of rocks hitting the undercarriage if it has done any off-road driving). Also notice that there are no added aluminum chequered plates anywhere on the car: while they look cool, they are generally put in place to cover up body damage or because the owner planned to use the vehicle in off-road conditions and wanted to reinforce the exposed panels, so them NOT being on the car is a good thing. He also had the differentials rebuilt, new water pump and belt, new OEM exhaust, new engine mounts, new brake booster and a full service performed where the engine passed with flying colors. It needs nothing but a loving owner. All of this is documented by pictures of the “before and after” along with some receipts and documentation (about 200 pictures in total).The seller then veered towards an original Mini Cooper and decided to let go of the Landy. That’s when I bought it and personally replaced the gearbox rubber mounts (they were in good shape, but felt it was best to replace them having the other 2 on the motor replaced earlier), I had the original paint buffed and waxed which brought it back to a glass-like finish, and I had all 6 wheels restored to new condition. All of this is also photo documented. Having the paint buffed while preserving the original decals cost $2,500 alone, almost as much as a cheap paint-job... I decided to not have the decals replaced as while they do show some signs of discoloration, a car is only original once, as they say. There are minor imperfections around the car, but you would never think it’s the original paint-work, even knowing the car lived a pampered life, it’s truly unbelievable how well it shows, and the new seat covers and foams complete what was in essence a very conservative freshening up of the car, with all original parts. Nobody believes it’s 25 years old. All and all the car presents itself in spectacular form. I would not hesitate to take this car across a continent today. EVERYTHING works down to the courtesy light and the beeper if you leave the lights on after taking the keys out of the ignition. Mileage is about 190k and original (which breaks down to a consistent 8000 miles per year).It will do close to 90 mph but is happiest at about 70, it’s a true pleasure to drive and seats 2 people in front and 4 in the back.Do note that the earlier versions (anything older than this 1991) will be very under-powered compared to this engine and will also burn a lot more diesel. The 200 TDi was really a leap forward that allows this car to comfortably keep up with traffic at highway speeds while getting about 30% better mpg. Also being a 1991 it qualifies as a classic vehicle so it can be registered and insured for very cheap: it’s the best year to buy a Landy. Later models have a BMW engine in them, and while they are indeed faster, they are nowhere as reliable nor “authentic”.A final note about the car’s status in the US: it has cleared US customs with flying colors after being scrutinized: this one truly fits in the “25 years or older” category whilst having the modern TDi matching numbers engine in it. I cannot stress enough the performance difference (and reliability) between the 200 TDi and it’s predecessor… I’ve had both, it’s night and day. Please ask questions, but before you do make sure you have your significant other’s permission as well as the funds to commit to buy. I’m a straight shooter and you will not be disappointed buying from me, but I have no time for dreamers. You will do a double take at the odometer. This truck looks like it has 50K miles. The condition is amazing. This Defender is a California car and with ZERO rust issues. You have your normal rock chips on the front but the rest of the paint shows great. Most of the interior has been redone...The previous owner put in new seats in the front along with a new jump seat in the back. He also had the box frame for the seats recovered too. The Pioneer Bluetooth stereo works great and the speakers are new as well. The stereo sounds awesome...I would just add a subwoofer if it were my Defender. The front brush guard is beefy and it has a spot for a winch if you wanted to add one. A/C blows ice cold and the heater works great too. Up for buy it now price obo is a 1997 Land Rover NAS Defender 90. If you are looking for a last year NAS Defender that can be used for what it was made for then this is your truck. This is not a garage queen that has been kept in side and never used. The truck has 126k miles and mechanically runs good, idles nice and no smoke on startup, has nice power and shifts through all the gears nicely. Since this is the last year 1997 D90 it is an automatic with factory air conditioner. As you can see in the pictures there has been several modifications done to the D90 over the years. Below is a list of all those items. The body and frame are in overall nice shape for a 20 year old defender that has been used, it does have some body rust in spots (mainly on the rear lower door/gate area). This would be a pretty easy fix as it is rust bubbling in a few spots currently. The frame has no rust and the rest of the underside has just light rust. I have taken several underside pictures that show potential buyers. Heat blows hot and AC blows cold with good pressure. I just had a new battery put in about a month ago as well. I have listed the items below that need to be done on the truck to take it to the next level, I just drove as is and decided not to mess with them. If you don't know these trucks then do your research or don't waste either of our times on bidding. This is not a Lexus everyday turn key vehicle, it is a 20 year old truck that will always need maintenance and little things to keep it running. Also if you are looking for a perfect garage queen please keep looking, this one is defiantly not that, it's just a solid D90 that has been used for light off road etc, has been kept inside and outside over it's life. If you are a collector then this is not the truck for you, if you want to use the truck and not worry then this is probably the cheapest 1997 D90 wagon on the internet right now. Modifications Powder Coated alloy OEM wheels 285/75R16 Fierce Attitude M/T tires with excellent tread life Kenwood Stereo with aux jack and Bluetooth 2 6x9 JBL speakers in rear, 2 6.5 speakers mounted in front seats Plated bonnet and wing tops Equipe rock sliders Draken front winch bumper Draken roof rack Draken 4 link suspension Smittybuilt XRC 8000lb winch 6 total Hella lights, 4 mounted on roof rack, 2 on front bumper Tom Woods double carden front drive shaft Tom Woods double carden rear drive shaft Con's of D90 -Missing rear tail gate inside cover -headliner was removed at some point so looks bad, but didn't bother me so never messed with replacing. -was rhino lined at some point on the interior but doesn't look great in the front driver and passenger areas, the rear cargo area lined looks pretty good. -passenger role up window handle pops on and off -I would change back the suspension to OEM or do a slee off road OME conversion, the suspension on it now is old and pretty worn out. This will be really the only bigger expensive for the truck that I would do right away. -Brakes need to be gone through, it stops fine but there is a scraping noise front the rotors I assume, just didn't get around to addressing. - Odometer is digital and goes in and out, this was a common problem with NAS D90's - E-brake light on dash goes off and on, no other lights on dash on. - bubble rust areas on rear gate, right rear of D90. - There is rust through areas on rear roof area, have pictures that will be posted, also rust on the bonnet underside. - I have 2 new in the box additional rear jump seats that will go with the truck but just aren't installed The truck has a clean clear Kentucky title and will be sold as is with no warranty to the highest bidder, I have a very reasonable buy it now price but will consider offers. Again this is a solid overall truck but if you are looking for perfect low miles garage kept D90 this IS NOT the D90 for you, go buy another one for double the money. Please ask as many questions before you decide to buy. If you know these trucks the NAS D90 are getting harder and harder to find especially the last year 1997, they will continue to climb in price. It is finished in black Linex inside and out. And it was done very well I may add. The front grille is made by the world famous KAHN. The marker lights are all LED giving it a nice updated look. The D90 has a serious sound system. The bass just rocks this thing. There is a subwoofer in the back and amplifiers under the seat. The previous owner must have spent serious dough on this system. I have service records from Land Rover. Just had an Oil change performed. I bought this out of Colorado last year for a daily driver. I have driven it for about 8 months now, and have put about 7,000 trouble free miles on it. The service records indicate that it was a Texas vehicle most of its life, serviced in Austin and in San Antonio before going to Colorado to a Land Rover collector/owner. The truck has had the Speedometer/Odometer replaced by Land Rover at 38k miles, so it shows 46k now. This was a common issue in the Defenders, and if you are looking at this ad then you know that isn't a issue as it is documented and was done by Rover at an AD.
