The 1999 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 Twin Turbo was the last model year of this great grand touring sports car. According to one source, only 274 were made to be imported to the U.S. market with a fair number of these meeting a “grisly fate” (not sure what that means but at least 10% are listed as totaled) making this the most desirable and rare of this model with such low production run. The car offered here is chassis number 152 and is the 249th one built. This 3.0L, DOHC, V6 with MPI fuel injection, 24-valve, 320HP twin-turbo, all wheel drive, 6-speed overdrive manual transmission, is all black inside and out. This beautiful car is a ONE OWNER car and has less than 94,000 miles on it and has never been in an accident. I bought this car in 1999 and it has been in my possession since purchase. This is a stock car with no modifications except I added a driver’s side seat heater (winters gets cold in Wisconsin). The car is in excellent mechanical condition. For all the details pertaining to this particular car, see the picture of the original car sticker. Original price sticker, car manual, 10-CD changer, retracting rear window sun shade / compartment hider, floor mats, cup holder tray in arm rest, ash tray, etc., all still present. Power sun roof, power antenna, power side mirrors, power windows, etc., all work great. This car runs like a dream. All oil changes and maintenance done per schedule including the timing belt change at 60,000 miles. The leather interior seats are in great shape with no rips or tears except for one very small hole in a rear seat. Also, due to stupidity on my part (long story and irrelevant anyway…), there two (new) different styles of wheels on the car. Both very nice, just not matching. Tires are like new. The fine print. There are two current issues with this car. First is the left front anti-lock brake sensor has failed. The brakes work great but this means that if you slam on the brakes they will lock up like cars of old. Replace the sensor and all is good. The other issue is that the power steering motor/pump is not operating. The car is perfectly drivable but there is currently no power steering requiring some arm strength at slow speed. Due to these relatively minor deficiencies, I am pricing this rare and desirable car for a quick sale to the lucky person who knows about these things and acts quickly. Will you be that lucky person? So why am I selling it? I’m 63 years old, own five cars and a motorcycle and it’s time to start downsizing a bit. Besides, I now have arthritis in the hips and it’s hard for me to get in and out of it. I love this car and it’s been my baby for 16 years. But now it’s time for someone else to love it. Up for sale is one of the most iconic and sought after sports coupes ever made, and the last turbocharged all-wheel-drive 2-door mid-size car Mitsubishi ever sold in the US - the 1999 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4. It is extremely rare, as there were only 287 made and imported to the US. This car is chassis #148, made on April 1st, 1999 in Mitsubishi's Nagoya Plant in Japan. This car is all original and stock, save for a few choice modifications that add to the appeal and nature of the car. I purchased the car last October from the car's previous owner in Illinois, where it was garaged since purchase. The car remains in a garage, on a battery tender at all times. It is currently driven twice a month on the weekends and it's some of the most fun I've ever had in a car. If you have any questions, you can reach me at (908) 280-5343. Documentation Included with the car is a folder containing documentation and receipts totaling over $4,000 for repairs and maintenance items. Engine/Mechanical: The engine runs perfectly and doesn't leak or burn any coolant or oil. No check engine or warning lights are present. The engine oil was just changed with 10w30 Mobil 1. The spark plugs were changed within the last week with NGK Platinums. A K&N Panel air filter was also added for better flow two weeks ago. The engine idles smoothly and pulls briskly to redline. The valve cover gaskets were recently changed and there are no oil leaks around or underneath the engine bay. The timing belt, water pump, tensioner, and crank pulley were replaced 100 miles ago with OEM Mitsubishi components, receipts in hand. One of the coil packs was replaced 2 months ago, along with new MSD 8.5mm plug wires (originals are included as well) The turbo wastegate solenoid was recently changed with an OEM Mitsubishi unit, and all vacuum lines were replaced. The car comes into boost beautifully and has no signs of turbo wear in the intake stream. New 3SX OEM motor mounts were installed two weeks ago, as I purchased the car with aftermarket solid mounts. Solid mounts will be included as well. The transmission was replaced with a brand new Getrag 6spd manual unit by the previous owner at 90k miles, as well as the clutch with an OEM unit. The car shifts very smoothly and no gears grind at any speed. Exhaust: The exhaust is the factory dual tailpipe unit that came with the car. It is in great condition and doesn't show any signs of rusting through, punctures, or otherwise damaging or hazardous corrosion. The pre-cats were gutted by the previous owner to promote longevity of the turbos and give the car a bit more power throughout the rev range. The main catalytic converter is still in place and it will pass any emissions inspection in the US. Interior: The interior of this car is in amazing shape. The passenger's seat has some very slight bolster wear, but there aren't any rips or tears in the leather. A new OEM Mitsubishi shift knob and real leather shift boot were installed. All functions works perfectly and the car is a great smoke-free example of the most desirable color combination VR4. Exterior: The car's exterior is in great shape, with no major dings or dents on the bodywork. The paint code is R71 Caracas Red and is all original with no repainted panels. The bodywork has a few small blemishes. There is a slight nickel-sized ding on the very front of the hood and also a few scratches and scuff marks on the corners of the car. The sunroof has about 1/4 inch of slight paint bubbling in the center near the rubber seal, and the front bumper and hood have rock chips from age, but nothing unreasonable for a car that's nearly 20 years old. The paint looks spectacular and buffs to a high gloss without issue. The car doesn't have any major rust issues or anything resembling major cosmetic damage. It's a truly beautiful car, in and out. Suspension: The car's suspension is in amazing shape. It consists of a Tein Type Flex adjustable coilovers with EDFC. The dampening of the suspension can be controlled from inside the car, on the fly with 3 customizable settings. The car has been lowered approximately 1.8 inches and has no rubbing issues at all. Outer tie rod ends were replaced one month ago with OEM replacements. Wheels/Tires: The wheels are brand new Rota P45R 18x9.5 wheels, with 265/35/18 tires all around. This combination is one of the best looking and performing combinations for this car, bar none. The front tires are Continental ContiSport Z-rated tires, and rears are Pirelli PZero Z-rated, each with around 50-60 percent tread depth remaining with no signs of camber wear. There is very minimal road noise and the car handles like it's on rails. Electronics/Audio: The audio system is the premium Infinity CD/Tape/Aux unit that originally came with the car. The optional Mitsubishi 6-CD changer is included in the trunk, but it's missing its CD magazine. All speakers and functions work like new, with new Infiniti Reference speakers installed in the doors. All lights and switches work flawlessly. Two keys and one keyless fob are included. An aftermarket 6500K HID kit is installed in the headlights. Air Conditioning: AC blows ice cold and heat blows hot through all vents. No issues at all, no matter how hot or cold the weather gets Brakes: The brakes are in great condition and don't exhibit any grinding with lots of life left on the pads, but can pulsate slightly at speeds above 80 miles per hour. The rotors could stand to be replaced within the next few months. Everything works as it should and brake fluid was topped up and checked recently. Parking brake holds the car flawlessly. This is a 1999 3000gt Base Model. It is in overall good condition. It runs and drives fine. Everything appears to work fine. It shifts fine as well. A/c works good. I just bought a new set of tires for it. There is a tear in the driver seat. The rest of the interior is in pretty good shape. This is no show car, but it is in very nice shape. There are a few dent/dings around the car. There is one on the drivers door and left rear quarter near the spoiler. There are a couple of dings on the hatch under the spoiler. There a couple on the roof. They don't really stand out unless you look close for them. I bought this car last year. Nothing wrong with it, just trying to downsize. I have had the car about six years or so and put maybe about 3000 miles on it, and done a few modifications to it and nothing half ass, I will try to list all the thing but I know I will be forgetting a few, Right now it is dyno tuned at 456 AWHP and with 467 foot pounds of torque and that is a low to mild tune for it for the stuff I have on it, It is capable of around 600 or so and if I don’t sell it I will have it turned up this summer. Where the spare is it has Amps for the stereo that I did not install, one amp for the rear sup and the other for the door speakers, also about the tune it is set up for 93 octane and it has a two step where you press the gas all the way to the floor it sets the RPM I think around 3500, and builds a small amount of boost while sitting still, then to override the 2 step just double tap the gas. p for sale I have a 1999 3000gt SL. This is a hard to find 3000gt from the fact that it is the last year they made these cars and it has the good engine (DOHC) mated with a 5 speed Manuel transmission. Usually they cheapened these cars up in the later years with a automatic and the smaller engine (SOHC) but I was lucky enough to pick this one up. This car is very clean I got it from Miami so it has absolutely no rust not a spec. when I got this car it already had a nice K&N cold air intake set up with all the piping and nice filter. also had aftermarket good looking valve covers with NGK spark plugs and spark plug wires. When I had the car I put a nice true duel exhaust on it, X-pipe up front and runs all the way back into 2 borla XS pro mufflers very quiet at idle and cruising speed but when you get on it, it sounds really nice with a nice performance sound. I also put nice drilled slotted rotors on it with brembo caliper covers for a cooler look. This car has good power pulls nicely and handles like a dream drives very straight, low and balanced especially at higher speeds like on the interstate very good handling car. Its a head turner, wherever I go just because these cars are just getting rarer not to many people have them and I was one of those people very good looking car for its age. The interior is in very good condition just with a little wear on the drivers side seat. I put a nice aftermarket duel radio in it with nice kicker c 60s in the front. the negatives is when I first got the car it had a small head gasket leak but we fixed that problem and it's been a very dependable car through the years. As you can see in the pictures this car is in very nice condition and I have never driven it in the winter its garage kept during those months its just to nice to take out in the salt.
