This one in particular was owned by a World War II machinist that meticulously maintained it since 1999. Complete with everything you need to go camping on your way back to Cali including all the awnings, tarps, extra propane tanks, and a propane grill. With just 88k original miles and the story behind this van your search ends here. Read on for the full story of how I acquired this exceptional camper and description. I acquired this van after passing by and seeing it sitting in this gentleman's son's driveway. Knocked on the door and nobody was home so I left a note in the door of the van. Got a call a few days later from the son and said his dad had interest in selling the van in the fall because he wanted to take one last trip to his favorite camping spot in West Virginia. The owner called me two weeks later and said he wasn't going to be able to make the trip and was thinking about selling the van. He shared many stories of places he's been and taken the van but due to his age he just couldn't enjoy it as much anymore. After an hour or so of talking he finally was willing to let go of his baby that is filled with memories that can never be replaced but on one condition...He mentioned that the fridge wasn't working properly so he wanted to fix it before he would sell it. He fixed the fridge and also went through everything to make sure it was all in working order. This gentleman was a machinist in WWII so you can just imagine how particular he was with this van. So here's a chance to own a very unique camper van that was babied it's entire life and it definitely shows. Now onto the mechanics and cosmetics. Mechanically you won't find a better van. Motor sounds healthy through all the RPM's. Trans shifts great through all the gears. Drives down the road very well. A/C is ice cold. Has a good PA inspection until 6/16. Steering is nice and tight and brakes feel good. Everything you'd expect of a 88k van that's been cared for. Like I said above he went through everything inside to make sure it was working properly before selling it to me so it's all ready to go for the fall camping season. Cosmetically it's in great shape as well. Garage kept paint shines beautifully in the sun. Body is nice and straight with the exception of one door ding and 3 dings on the rear hatch that are pictured. Has a small chip in the windshield that has been filled. Small little scratches on the bumper is all you will find as well. Interior is immaculate as they come. Hasn't been vacuum or shampooed to try and clean anything. Smells good inside and wasn't smoked in. What you see is exactly how he kept it.. Whole van is free of rust on body and underneath. Pop top is in great shape with no tears. Included are some awnings that can be set up to provide shelter from the elements. Also has a propane grill and some tarps. It is the only year that the Eurovan Camper came with the bullet-proof Audi designed 5 cylinder engine with the timing belt. The VR6 engines may have more power but they also have the troublesome and costly timing chain issues. This van is in excellent overall condition both cosmetically and mechanically.
