You are bidding on a Used 1999 VW Jetta GL TDI it currently has 229xxx miles but will rise as the car is used daily. I was driving monday through friday 130 Miles round trip and averaged 50 MPG filled her up each week on sunday. Car is very reliable and can be driven anywhere. Has recent within last 1000 miles New Mass air flow meter, Thermostat and Gasket and proper Antifreeze and coolant temperature sensor, Glow plugs and Glow plug harness(Kinda like plugs and wires) Fuel filter and Air Filter. Car has Valid NJ Inspection good until 10/2017, The Bad : There are some dings and Dents around the car (Please view Pictures) The rear seat has a Stain (I think a good detail would remove it) And it gets a check engine light once in a while Code is P0380 Which is Glow plug circuit. I believe the problem is the Water Jacket Glow plug wire as they are Crappy. But it does not effect the operation of the car at all. This was my fathers daily driver since 2007 and when he bought it it had roughly 70k miles on it. He drove it to work in the brooklyn/bronx and parking it well you know what happens when you park in the 5 boroughs people play bumper cars, so the body is ROUGH. The right person who knows how to find body parts in same color can make it look decent for not too much money but its not the kind of car you buy for perfection or restoration anyway so who cares. Can be a knock around car or beater, maybe a parts car if you need a drive train for something else. Either way i cant use it and have no interest in working on it because i have other cars to attend to. my father passed away last year and im looking to recoup a few bucks to go towards the expensive funeral costs. That is pretty much the low down on the car as to why i have it and why im selling it. I do have the carfax on it my father was 3rd owner. It had one fender bender in its life but was repaired and is not a salvage vehicle the title is clean and clear and is being sold AS IS..... I put a new ignition coil in it, a new dog bone trans mount. and from what i remember the timing belt was done not too long ago along with a tune up. Is it perfect? no (if you want closer to perfect buy a jetta for 3k to 4k!!!!!!!!!!!!) will it start and drive? yes would i buy it if i know nothing about cars? no does the ac/heat work? yes does it need anything? its a low price 16 year old car and in this price range it would need things like any used car so don't ask me dumb questions as i am very honest with this sale and have 100% positive feedback on here. is there a check engine light on? YES there is a light on for cam sensor, (does it effect running and driving?) NO. it is probably just the sensor or connection to the sensor.is that hard to change? if you know cars not too bad and not an expensive part but as you know if you take it to mechanics you will get raped regardless because that is what mechanics do....lol the battery is used but has life left in it. the wheels are aftermarket alloys and need to be refinished but if you spend a little time and elbow grease and spray paint they can come back to life. not my style but you can plastidip them.... the tires are holding air and have tread are they new definitely not! the keyless remote needs a battery and im not sure if it works or not i never bothered to try it. but you can lock and unlock doors manually unless your lazy then i suggest fixing that. yes there is hood pins,,,, why? the previous owner put them on because hood latch broke and when that happens on a mk4 you can release the hood so instead of buying the right part he used hood pins. it is what it is but the car does come with 2 used hood latches and a prayer is you feel like messing with it. for those who care about cosmetics......fenders for mk4 jetta are cheap, other body parts can be had cheap in a u pull place like harry's u pull in hazelton pa. so if you don't like how ugly it is don't cry about it, go do something about it as there are an easy 30 to 40 mk4 golfs and jettas in harrys u pull yard and parts are cheap considering. Looking for fuel economy? How does 30 MPG City and 42 MPG Highway sound? This car has only had one local owner since new, and my wife and I have been using it as our personal vehicle since April. As soon as I got this car in, I had the local TDI specialist shop check it out thoroughly and service it. They changed the oil and filter (correct synthetic oil from VW) and fuel filter, and installed a new boost pressure valve and actuator (also from VW). I also had high quality ceramic window tint installed (lifetime warranty). The tires are Pirelli - one is brand new and the other three have excellent tread. We've put about 7,500 miles on this car without a single issue. As you can imagine, it drives perfect and is ready to go anywhere you want to take it. The Carfax Report is perfectly clean and there isn't any evidence of any previous accidents. No leaks, no vibrations, no noises, and no strange smells. This car is really enjoyable car to drive. The engine light in the gauge cluster stays lit and the engine code says "EGR Valve Stuck Closed". At the recommendation of the TDI shop, they actually suggested leaving it exactly as it is since the result of the EGR Valve being stuck in the closed position is less carbon and soot gets redirected back into the engine's oil and intake manifold - which is a really good thing for the life of the engine. This does not cause any driveability issues whatsoever. The car drives perfect. If the buyers chooses to have this fixed after their purchase, they will simply need to have the EGR valve replaced. As for the condition of the car, the interior is extremely clean. The seats and all upholstery are in exceptional condition. Never smoked in. The interior looks excellent. Everything works perfect from the power panoramic sunroof to the door locks, windows, cruise control, etc. The A/C is ice cold and the Heat is hot. All original books, manuals, window sticker, and keys are included. Very clean car. The exterior is also in excellent condition. The Carfax Report is perfectly clean. No evidence of any previous accidents. The paint is in great shape and shines excellent.
