2003 Lotus Esprit - 6,276 Original Miles - Collector Owned - None Finer This beautiful 2003 Lotus Esprit is part of a 60+ car private collection in Austin, Texas. I purchased this Esprit Turbo in October of 2012 for my personal collection. At that time, the car's odometer showed 5,984 original miles. Today the mileage is 6,276 miles. I am the third owner of this iconic sports car. The car was originally delivered in Florida where the dealer kept it on display until April of 2005 when it was finally sold to its first owner with 139 miles on the odometer. That owner kept the car for less than two years, driving it a total of 2,100 miles before selling it to the second owner, a C-level executive with a Fortune 500 hotel company, who in turn sold it to me seven years and approximately 3,500 miles later. The mileage and history of the car is supported by extensive CARFAX and AutoCheck service and inspection documentation that is available for viewing by potential purchasers. When I acquired car, I had been searching for more than two years seeking nothing less than the best Lotus Esprit in the country. Specifically, I was seeking a low-mileage, 2002-2004 car in pristine condition and an exceptional color. As Lotus enthusiasts know, the 2002-2004 cars are widely considered the best of the breed and quality examples are hard to come by due to their extremely low production numbers (157 cars in 2002, 119 cars in 2003, and 16 cars in 2004). As you would expect from an ultra low-mileage vehicle, the car is simply spectacular in every way - as close to a new Esprit as you'll ever find - and truly an investment-grade vehicle in all regards. The car has been babied its entire life. It has never seen rain nor spent so much a single night outside. Under my ownership, the car has been maintained at my private facility in Austin, TX where it has been serviced by my personal staff who maintain all the cars in my collection. I would not hesitate to drive this car across the country tomorrow. Along the way, I'd make sure to stop by a few tracks just for fun and I'd do my best to find and enter a local car show (which I would win). Mechanicals:The car starts, stops and drives exactly as you would expect. It pulls hard, revs powerfully, shifts smoothly, and runs cool even in the 100+ degree Texas heat. The clutch is strong and the car brakes easily and in a straight line. The AC blows ice cold and the tires show excellent tread. There are no oil leaks, no smoking, or any odd sounds. The car has never been involved in any type of accident or collision and is as clean and solid as its low mileage suggests. Everything in the car works as it should - lights, switches, wipers, gauges, everything. The car is, obviously, numbers-matching. Exterior:From every angle, the car presents beautifully. The original paint is in outstanding condition - deep and glossy with no checking or signs of deterioration. There are no dents or scratches - not even a door ding - and the paint appears closer to 13 days old than 13 years. The rubber seals, trim, emblems, lenses and exterior hardware are all absolutely outstanding. The car retains 100% of it's original glass including its original windshield with correct, factory markings. Incredibly, the car retains 100% of its original delivery decals as seen in the photos. The car is photographed with its glass roof. The body-colored roof is also included in the sale and is in equally outstanding condition. In my years of collecting classic cars, I have rarely seen a car of this vintage in more pristine condition or one that presents closer to new. The cosmetics of this car will exceed your expectations. They certainly have mine. Interior:The interior of this car is a testament to what original, low-mileage cars should be. The dash is perfect - free of cracks and without warping. The door panels are beautiful. The controls and various switches are pristine. The original leather seats are outstanding. The gauges are clear and bright appearing as new. The steering wheel is perfect. The carpets present as new. I've taken the time to provide multiple, close-up photos of the interior from almost every angle. Please examine them closely and pay attention to the details. Anybody need a collectible car for their garage? I've got one for ya. This is an absolutely beautiful car to add to the collection. This car has amazing paint. Only two teeny tiny blemishes that were touched up by a body shop. Not a touchup pen from walmart. It also has a few minor scratches around the door handle probably from the keys many years ago. Other than that the paint is flawless. Interesting fact, lotus only painted certain cars black. The fiberglass body had to be a certain quality to meet that standard. So it's a rare color. The interior is in amazing shape as well. No stains, no rips or tears anywhere. The drivers seat does have wear on it but it's not terrible. One gauge has been replaced with an aftermarket gauge which isn't the prettiest but you get use to it. Other than that the interior is mint. Very VERY clean. The motor runs great. Fires up first time every time. I will take a video of it running so you can see how good it runs! The transmission shifts smooth as butter. There are no mechanical problems with the car. The car has had lots of upgrades, however we never received documentation of where that work was done. The previous owner had it for about 12 years, had the title reworked into his wifes name then I bought it. Here's the list of upgrades its had done.
