Up for auction is a fairly rare 1987 Shelby GLHS (based on the Dodge Charger). I have owned this car since 2006 and had the intention to do a 100% restoration....which I've just never found the time to complete. I'd really like to hang onto this car, but time, money and storage space are limited and I need to find a new home for this car. In the 8 years I have had the car I have only drove it locally and only for around 4,400 miles. It runs, drives and is registered and insured. The History on Dodge and Carroll Shelby... Lee Iacocca and Carroll Shelby had a great history with the Shelby Mustangs and the AC Cobra with Ford Engines....not to mention Shelby driving cars for Ford. So when Iacocca left Ford to head up a floundering Chrysler Corp., he felt that bringing Shelby in to spice up the offerings would help boost the Company's stodgey image. Their relationship started in 1983 and ended in 1992. Shelby didn't discuss these years much because he always felt he should have never left Ford. I'm certain he only did it for loyalty to his friend Lee Iacocca and I'm also sure he was much more in love with the brutish muscle cars than he was with the "pocket rockets" he turned out for the most part with Chrysler. The first car Shelby did with Chrysler was a Dodge badged "Shelby Charger" in 1983, and the most prominent was a collaboration which resulted in the Dodge Viper. Their were only a few vehicles which were specifically badged as "Shelby's"...The 1986 Shelby GLH (based on the Dodge Omni)...which stood for "Goes Like Hell" and the 1987 Shelby GLHS (based on the Dodge Charger). The GLHS stood for "Goes Like Hell S'more"....no kidding. Shelby also designed a purpose-built race car with a Dodge Engine called the Shelby Can-Am and there was a race series to go with it. The History on the Shelby GLHS.... The success with the 1986 GLHS (It outperformed a Shelby GT350 Mustang in a magazine test!) allowed Shelby to take delivery of the last 1,000 Dodge Chargers produced from Dodge and to convert them to "Shelby's" at the Whittier, CA shop. These cars are not Dodge's, even though many states title them as such (including AZ). Shelby was a car manufacturer and the cars that were "built" in his facility were technically a "Shelby". In fact, the GLHS has no Dodge badging anywhere and the stickers with manufacturer info all say Shelby on them. Every one of the 1,000 cars were painted black with special Shelby GLHS decals in white. These cars utilized the new Dodge 2.2L Turbocharged "Turbo II" engine package and were intercooled. There is an extensive parts list of items which were installed on these cars instead of the stock Dodge parts....it's too long to list them all here, but some notable items included Koni Struts and Shelby Centurian wheels. These cars were rated at 175hp, where the stock Dodge Chargers put out a mere 107hp. The History on this Shelby GLHS, #0950.... This vehicle started life as a 1987 Dodge Charger and was shipped to Carroll Shelby's Whittier, CA shop to become Shelby Charger #0950 of 1,000. It was sold at Cowboy Dodge in Cheyenne, WY and I believe it spent most of it's life there. I have not reviewed the Vehicle History report, but sometime between 2003 and 2006 the car made its way to Colorado Springs, CO and that's where I purchased it in July, 2006. The car had been sitting outside for quite some time and the paint was badly faded. The previous owner spent a great deal on the performance end by updating the turbo to a "fast spool" unit from Turbo's Unleashed, ported the intake and exhaust manifolds, installed new Koni Struts, and installed Addco Sway Bars. He also installed a boost gauge, which is mounted to the Driver-side A-pillar. I wanted to drive the car and not be embarrassed by the faded paint job....but didn't want to spend a fortune....so I had Maaco fix a few door dings and minor hail dings (welcome to Wyoming), etc. (no major dents) and spray some new gloss black on it. I believe the bill was $1,600...and that was done in 2009. The car has been garaged since and the paint still looks great with a few minor chips on the front of the hood. I left it plain black as it looks really cool. No decals are on the car (see extras below). I have only put 4,427 miles on the car since 2006 as I only use it when the weather is nice. I have also had the timing belt replaced and all belts and hoses changed a few years ago, and I have replaced the clutch and installed new tires. I have receipts for everything, and some receipts from the prior owner(s). The Details....and it's all about the details.... As stated earlier.....I intended to do a complete restoration on this car. When I was in the Army in 1987 I saw one of these at a Dodge dealer in GA and wanted one so bad...not enough money....and orders to Germany kept me from one. I have owned a 1983 Shelby Charger (non-turbo) but it just wasn't the GLHS. My nostalgia for this car has waned and I have way too many projects going to keep this one. Exterior: The body is in excellent shape and the paint (as stated above) looks pretty nice. I cannot find any rust. It is not a show car...I was going to do that later. Some of the plastic body panels don't line up perfectly (front fascia) and the rubber bumper on the rear is a bit buckled on the top. This is very typical on these cars and many cars from this era...look at early 1980's Corvettes. I do believe this car may have seen some hail as the door sills (soft metal) are dinged up....but the body is pretty solid. There may be a few dings, but I had intended to address them when I did the "real" paint job. The glass is pretty decent, but there are a few slight chips in the windshield and the side window glass has some scratches (driver side). The channel felt, wipers need changed as the windows are loose in the channels. I'm sure this is from sitting outside for many years. The tires are new Dunlops (Direzza) and have less than 3,000 miles on them. The original Shelby Centurian wheels are on the car and I had them professionally polished (2009) and they look awesome. The spare is also a Centurian (it is also newly polished) and it also has a new Dunlop mounted. I also have a n additional spare Shelby Charger "Pizza" wheel that will come with the car. The Shelby Centurian wheels are the correct wheel for this car and are getting hard to find...especially in this condition. Interior: I did remove the entire interior with the intention of installing new carpet and having the seats re-done....just never got around to it. I now have the new carpet, it just is not installed. It will come with the car. I did re-install the front seats and belts so I could drive the car, but the center console and rear seat are not installed....obviously they will come with the car and everything is complete. The seats are worn and will need to be re-done to be presentable. The "CS" logos are faded. The door panels are OK...with some areas needing some attention. The dash is in great shape with no tears, rips, cracks, etc. and the Carroll Shelby dash plate is there denoting this as #0950. Engine: This car runs great. I believe the 99,427 are actual and the title is an "A" title..."Actual Mileage. I do not know if it is the original engine....I have no receipts or other indication that it is not. I only know the turbo has been changed and there have been some tuning items done to the car. The car does drip a few drops of fluid every so often, but I'm not even sure what it is and all fluid levels check out fine. I only use Mobil 1 Oil in the car and since I've only changed the oil twice...I know this. When I purchased the car I had all the belts and hoses changed. I had the timing belt and belt tensioner changed at 94,558 miles and replaced the clutch at 96,517 miles. Other: I replaced the fuel cell and fuel pump at 98,112 miles (can't find that receipt) and also believe most of the fuel lines were also changed. This car did fail Arizona emissions on 2 occasions, once the distributor was faulty (replaced) and the other (recently) was the timing had moved to an advanced position somehow. I believe the distributor was replaced at the same time as the timing belt. The car is currently licensed and insured here in AZ. There are several items that do not work on the car...it is old....what do you expect. Here they are:TachometerRear Hatch StrutsWipers (I removed them as I don't use them anyway)Air Conditioning ( There has never been an AC belt since I owned it)Cruise? Don't really know actually...never used it.Driver's door locking knob is missing Overall this would make an excellent restoration project for someone interested in these cars. It is very fun to drive as it handles like a slot car. Remember....this is the car that outperformed a Shelby GT350 in EVERY category ( I may even have that article somewhere). The car isn't perfect by any means...I'd say it is a 7 out of 10....at best. But it is a piece of automotive history because of the legend that is Carroll Shelby. I know these cars won't ever have the values of a Cobra or a GT350...or GT500....or a Series One...but here's a chance to be a part of he Carroll Shelby legacy at a fraction of what those other cars sell for. This was a "tuner" car WAY before these young kids today even were born....and it was a legend that did it. Extras (in addition to that already stated): I am including the following items with the car:Complete set of Shelby GLHS decalsComplete 3 Book Set of Service ManualsSeveral Magazine articles, dealer brochures, etc. on the Shelby Charger, GLH, GLHS.Two Carroll Shelby "CS" hatsAll receipts pertaining to this vehicle in my possession...personal info redacted. I love driving this car as the stares are priceless. There isn't a day that goes by that someone doesn't ask "what in the hell is that"? It is also pretty fun to hang with the testosterone-set when they pull up in their "hot" Mustang or Camaro. This car can hang. Please ask questions if you need more detailed information. I've tried to describe and list things as accurately as possible and try to be as honest as possible in my listings, but would be happy to provide more info...just ask. Bid with confidence as I have 100% positive feedback and will be happy to make arrangements for vehicle pick up. The title is in my possession and ready to be signed over to the new owner. Just in case you missed I above...the Title is an Arizona title and is a "Box A" (Actual Mileage). This vehicle has never been wrecked, totaled, salvage, etc. It has a CLEAR, CLEAN title.

I have owned this car since 2006 and had the intention to do a 100% restoration....which Ive just never found the time to complete. Id really like to hang onto this car, but time, money and storage space are limited and I need to find a new home for this car. So when Iacocca left Ford to head up a floundering Chrysler Corp., he felt that bringing Shelby in to spice up the offerings would help boost the Companys stodgey image. Their relationship started in 1983 and ended in 1992. Shelby didnt discuss these years much because he always felt he should have never left Ford. Im certain he only did it for loyalty to his friend Lee Iacocca and Im also sure he was much more in love with the brutish muscle cars than he was with the "pocket rockets" he turned out for the most part with Chrysler. The first car Shelby did with Chrysler was a Dodge badged "Shelby Charger" in 1983, and the most prominent was a collaboration which resulted in the Dodge Viper. Their were only a few vehicles which were specifically badged as "Shelbys"...The 1986 Shelby GLH (based on the Dodge Omni)...which stood for "Goes Like Hell" and the 1987 Shelby GLHS (based on the Dodge Charger). The GLHS stood for "Goes Like Hell Smore"....no kidding. Shelby also designed a purpose-built race car with a Dodge Engine called the Shelby Can-Am and there was a race series to go with it. The History on the Shelby GLHS.... The success with the 1986 GLHS (It outperformed a Shelby GT350 Mustang in a magazine test!) allowed Shelby to take delivery of the last 1,000 Dodge Chargers produced from Dodge and to convert them to "Shelbys" at the Whittier, CA shop. These cars are not Dodges, even though many states title them as such (including AZ). There is an extensive parts list of items which were installed on these cars instead of the stock Dodge parts....its too long to list them all here, but some notable items included Koni Struts and Shelby Centurian wheels. These cars were rated at 175hp, where the stock Dodge Chargers put out a mere 107hp. The History on this Shelby GLHS, #0950.... This vehicle started life as a 1987 Dodge Charger and was shipped to Carroll Shelbys Whittier, CA shop to become Shelby Charger #0950 of 1,000. It was sold at Cowboy Dodge in Cheyenne, WY and I believe it spent most of its life there. I have not reviewed the Vehicle History report, but sometime between 2003 and 2006 the car made its way to Colorado Springs, CO and thats where I purchased it in July, 2006. The car had been sitting outside for quite some time and the paint was badly faded. The previous owner spent a great deal on the performance end by updating the turbo to a "fast spool" unit from Turbos Unleashed, ported the intake and exhaust manifolds, installed new Koni Struts, and installed Addco Sway Bars. He also installed a boost gauge, which is mounted to the Driver-side A-pillar. I wanted to drive the car and not be embarrassed by the faded paint job....but didnt want to spend a fortune....so I had Maaco fix a few door dings and minor hail dings (welcome to Wyoming), etc. (no major dents) and spray some new gloss black on it. I believe the bill was $1,600...and that was done in 2009. The car has been garaged since and the paint still looks great with a few minor chips For additional information, reply to this ad or see: http://item.ebay.com/121404272538#ht_1980wt_912 ebmid: 121404272538
