This vehicle is STOCK! I am NOT the original, but 3rd owner of the vehicle. The vehicle was purchased new in Massachusetts and was involved in an accident in 2003 causing damage to the front and rear bumpers. The vehicle was repaired and then sold in 2004 to a dealer who actually took possession of the vehicle for personal use until I purchased it from them in 2006. CARFAX will back this description and it does qualify for their buyback guarantee. It has a Clear Title! No Rebuilt or Salvage issues. No leans. I had the front and rear bumper covers repainted at a GM dealership in 2011. All general maintenance has been done at the GM dealership and I have most all the records. The AC compressor was replaced. Shocks. Window motors. Brakes. Rear end differential fluid was changed. The tires were replaced two years ago with BFGoodrich G-Force Sport Comps and have less than 3,000 miles on them. This was NOT a daily driver but a summer weekend and show car. It has been garage kept since I have had it and has never seen a Michigan winter! The vehicle just had a Mobil One oil change at the dealer and is ready to go. The vehicle runs and drives as it should. I have owned the vehicle for 9 years now and it has been pampered the whole time. The vehicle is CLEAN! Non smoker. Interior is like new including the carpet. Headliner is clean and does not sag. 1985 Pontiac Trans-Am Experimental Prototype Kammback Concept. Genuine former General Motors test platform (mule) equipped with G-code HO V8 5 speed, factory air, power steering, power brakes, power windows, power door locks, cruise, tilt, AM/FM stereo cassette, glass T-Tops, and Pontiac TA mag wheels. Extensively shown and promoted at auto shows, as well as in magazines. EX4796 was put into service as a Pace Car for the PPG and IMSA Race Series for 1985 with a roof mount light bar and two-way communications equipment. The Kammback Concept failed to advance after 1985, however, this car was stored at GM for 13 years in the Pontiac Engineering Car Collection until a local Detroit area Pontiac dealer and collector, John McMullen, was able to acquire it. Experimental cars normally go to the crusher but this one, by the good graces of Pontiac, escaped and has survived. While in the McMullen collection, this car was professionally restored in meticulous detail by Scott Tiemann of Supercar Specialties of Portland, Michigan right down to the undercarriage white floor pans, prior to being sold to the John OQuinn collection in 2007. The White exterior is graced by Dove Gray leather interior trim and is in outstanding condition, as is the engine compartment and undercarriage. The Kammback Concept has been editorialized by Motor Trend magazine (cover & multi-page spread) in June 1977 and August 1985 (This car), and we possess a 3-ring binder of the history of this car, the McMullen collection, the John OQuinn collection, Scott Tiemann Supercar Specialties, the Kammback Concept & history which is also all available on the Internet. The very rare and desirable Platinum exterior is show quality. The car was professionally painted just 4 years ago with only 500 miles put on since. This is a SHOW quality paint job. For the paint process, the doors were removed, hood, deck lid, front and rear facias, all the trim, door handles, mirrors, spoilers etc.. NO sheet metal repairs were needed. A photo history before the paint process and during the paint process goes with the car. New door seals and trunk seals were installed at this time. NO shortcuts were preformed. You can not duplicate what the factory produced back in 1976, flaws and all. These were mass produced cars by General Motors. These low mile, original second generation Trans Am’s are often impossible to find these days. This Trans Am comes fully documented with many supporting items to support its history. This Trans Am has just had a full inspection of its mechanicals by an ASE Certified Master Automotive Technician. This inspection covers the safety of the car. If any safety issues are found at the time of the inspection, they are fixed to factory original equipment standards. The very desirable one year only Firethorn exterior shines very nice and it appears to be all original as it left the factory. The Firethorn Red exterior over the Firethorn Red and White interior really make this car POP! The interior of this car is like taking a time machine back to 1976. One look at this stunning interior and you can tell this Trans Am has led a pampered life. The white seats, door panels, headliner are in excellent condition. The automatic transmission sends power to a 10 bolt rear end with performance oriented gears. You can not duplicate what the factory produced back in 1978, flaws and all. These were mass produced cars by General Motors. These original second generation Trans Ams are often impossible to find these days. This Trans Am has just had a full inspection of its mechanicals by an ASE Certified Master Automotive Technician. This inspection covers the safety of the car. If any safety issues are found at the time of the inspection, they are fixed to factory original equipment standards. The very rare and desirable Platinum exterior is show quality. The car was professionally painted just 4 years ago with only 500 miles put on since. This is a SHOW quality paint job. For the paint process, the doors were removed, hood, deck lid, front and rear facias, all the trim, door handles, mirrors, spoilers etc.. NO sheet metal repairs were needed. A photo history before the paint process and during the paint process goes with the car. New door seals and trunk seals were installed at this time. NO shortcuts were preformed. Paint jobs performed like this cost between $8,000 to $10,000 and up. All new factory decals were accurately positioned and installed. The interior of this car is like taking a time machine back to 1978. One look at seats and you can tell this Trans Am has led a pampered life. The dash and dash bezel are in excellent condition as well. The detailed trunk has the factory jack tools, inflatable spare tire, and spare tire inflator canister. The engine bay looks very stock in appearance. It has not been over restored or rattle can painted like most have been. With 52,159 miles on the car or 1,619 miles ago the following has been serviced on in the engine bay. Engine block was hot tanked, oil galleys cleaned, new freeze plugs installed, new rings, water pump, oil pump, bearings, timing chain, timing gears, cam, crank polished, crank turned, fuel pump, complete valve job, valve seals, plugs, wires, heater core, radiator hoses, thermostat, carb rebuilt, AC Delco battery, new belts. The automatic transmission sends power to a 10 bolt rear end with performance oriented gears. Up front, a factory power steering system combines with the performance suspension for the ride and handling. The factory power disc brakes to provide the stopping performance. This Trans Am’s undercarriage is extremely original, with clean floorpans. No patch panels or rust issues are detected. It still retains its original catalytic converter and tail pipe exhaust splitters. A pair of Magnaflow mufflers has recently been added. Have you seen the prices of these second generation Trans Am’s lately? They’re skyrocketing in value and finally receiving the respect they deserve in the collector car circle!
