This is the classic "ran when parked in the barn" scenario. Car appears to be complete, and was blocked up and stored for over twenty-two years, with the tires and wheels removed. I have obtained a new clean Indiana title in my name but as yet I have not started the restoration, which will begin as soon as the shop has an opening. I will sell the car as-is, or I will consider subcontracting a partial or total restore to your specifications. The listed price is for the vehicle as-is-where-is on rolling tires and old aftermarket rims. It seems pretty original other than the paint job and the rims. If you are looking for a tropical turquoise car to restore with an Oklahoma DSO, this is it. The Oklahoma City sales area also included the Texas panhandle, as I understand it. The O code paint was only available this one year. Who knows how many were so painted, but according to the ISOM registry, there were only around 70 accounted as the time of the survey, and that included wrecking yard finds that likely no longer exist. Tropical Turquoise is the only paint name color I can find that General Motors and Ford had in common. You will find many 50's Chevies with it, both cars and trucks. I know, you either love it or hate it, but in my opinion, this Mustang needs to go back to its original tropical color. At present the original tropical is visible under the back seat, in the trunk, and on the bottom of the doors. It has had a red partial repaint during its life, and that is what you see it in today. Based upon ISOM findings, tropical turquoise O code paint was either the forth or fifth least common of the stock paint codes used for 1965 on the Mustang. As you know, April 17 that just passed was the introduction date for the Ford Mustang back fifty years ago, and the early production had started on March 9, 1964. Cars shipped to dealers were kept under wraps, and it was a nifty introduction, with depowered cars used in the Ford pavillion at the New York World's Fair, and later brought back to the factory, rebuilt, and sold to the public. A car was taken apart and displayed on the observation deck of the Empire State Building, at that time the tallest building in the world. The way the car was introduced created a sensation, and set many standards for subsequent marketing campaigns across multiple product lines. There was a shortage of vehicles available for sale, and waiting lists developed which had not happened in the automobile industry since around 1953, when the "big three" finally caught up with pent-up post war demand that had built while automobile manufacturers had been converted to military production only. Originally produced only at Dearborn, as this car was, two additional plants were converted at least partially to Mustang building to keep up with the buying frenzy, the Edison, New Jersey plant, which is now gone, and the Milpitas, California plant, which has now been converted into a shopping mall. There have been many books written about the people behind the Mustang at Ford, and the processes that were developed in coming up with the brand and the original design. Ford had just come off a big write-off on the Edsel, and management was not anxious to make another costly mistake. The T-5 program, as it was then called within the Ford inner circles, was finally green-lighted in 1962, and the rest, as they say, is history. Those involved became heroic, often iconic figures. Many have said the development of the middle class in the United States gave rise to the demand for second cars, and others have commented that the GI's coming home from the Korean and World Wars were ready for something new. There were several currents ebbing and flowing in the ocean of car building, one was the muscle car movement, where bigger engines were being stuffed into smaller platforms, like Pontiac's Tempest, which was crammed with horsepower and morphed into a GTO sub-model. Another was the coming fuel efficiency movement, where families began opting for something less than the ever longer ever wider ever humongously thirsty family four door sedan. Ford hit the nail on the head by offering any number of options, engine sizes, transmission packages, colors, and decor combinations. The long-hood/short trunk styling started the "pony car" movement. It was a monster at Ford, and like McDonald's hamburger signs, production numbers kept setting new records, with over half a million sold in the extended model year. This particular example of the early 1965 was found with a 4-V carburetor in a bucket, in a million pieces. The engine can be hand turned and is free. I have no idea if the power train is original, but it likely is, based upon appearances. On a 50 year old vehicle though, it is difficult to tell. The engine oil, transmission fluid, and radiator coolant has been drained and refreshed this week. There is still some bad gas in the fuel tank, but the tank is intact and the fuel pump will operate when the engine is turned. The car currently has a inoperable braking system. I doubt that it would take much to get it running, but I offer no warranties. There is no battery in the car, and I have not tested the wiring as of yet, but I see no apparent damage from what I have observed so far. The floors, rockers, and torque boxes appear to be solid and intact. The passenger side rear quarter looks pretty good, with one pencil-sized rust hole in the bottom of the trunk drop-down. The driver's side rear quarter panel looks to have some bondo in the lower portion of it. The doors look good, with no visible rust. The door data plate is intact, although it has been painted over. The VIN number on the fender skirt matches the title and the door data plate. I cannot verify the mileage, but the existing reading looks appropriate for the number of years it was stored. The passenger side front fender looks good, with no issues. The driver's side front fender has two issues. First, the front bumper at some time in the past appears to have contacted the sheet metal, punching a hole. Secondly, there is a rust hole under the bottom of the rear portion of the fender, just ahead of the door. This tends to indicate that at some point there was a problem with stoppage of water flow in the lower portion of the inner fender. I have not been able yet to inspect the cowl areas thoroughly, but I do not expect any serious problems, otherwise the floors would likely have gotten rotted. There are no visible dents in the roof or trunk area. There are no obvious signs of accidents other than the left front fender issue. There is a ding in the front corner of the hood, on the passenger side. The trunk lid and rear panels look good, and the glass looks good all around. The brightwork and trim looks like all it needs is a good polishing. You may feel free to inspect this car in Indiana. We are about 1 hour north of Indy or about 1 hour south of Chicago on I-65. I will be happy to post any photos you might want on my website. This Mustang is going in for restoration sometime in June or July as soon as the shop has an opening. As a result I only offer this for a short period of time. I am also offering a $100 reward if you have any information about what Oklahoma area dealership might have originally sold this car in January or February 1965. There could not have been too many new tropical turquoise Mustangs galloping around Oklahoma, the Texas panhandle, or southern Kansas early in 1965. I have a gut feeling that the car might have been sold to a military service person who later transferred east or sold the car before going on overseas duty. If you might have been an earlier owner, Ford salesman, or know anything about the ownership history prior to it coming to Michigan and later Indiana, I would very much appreciate hearing from you. The wheels and tires were added by me and the truck sits nice and high and is fun to drive. The truck was purchased new by Oklahoma Natural Gas company so it has a FACTORY professional CNG installation from GENERAL MOTORS... The power of these 6.0 engines is impressive and to be able to go 1000 miles and only spend $110.00 on fuel has been awesome. Speaking of panels, their fit and finish has been massaged to much higher tolerances than any of the good folks at Norwood would've ever dreamed. And overall, this is one very clean muscle car! Originally envisioned as an engineering piece that would show the world what Pontiac could do on the race track, the 1969 Trans Am was basically an engine and appearance package by the time it made the leap from concept to production. Much of Pontiac's top brass openly derided the car because they felt the GTO Judge was a better answer to the same question and the 1970 Trans Am, which was said to be a whole new league of pony car, was just around the corner. Little did those folks know that 60s Pontiac folklore would combine with the limited sales of the '69 model to kick start a legacy of visual excitement that would last over three decades! At the front of this pristine 'bird, a new for '69 Endura nose hangs Trans Am-specific grilles, which are complete with a silver arrowhead and a white inlayed "PONTIAC" script, between four T3 headlights. Below those headlights, the car's sculpted front valence perfectly aligns ornate parking lights above a Trans Am specific chin spoiler. And above those headlights, the car's imposing hood props "RAM AIR" branded scoops in front of satin stainless wipers. At the sides of the car, expressive 'coke bottle' character lines are highlighted by a standard chrome mirror, dent-free stainless body moldings and traditional GM door handles. Between those bolt-ons, small "TRANS AM" call-outs combine with Trans Am-specific air extractors and highly detailed Firebird marker lights to add just the right amount of texture to glossy white paint. At the top of the car, like-new glass is framed by straight stainless trim and fresh chrome drip rails. And at the back of the car, a Trans Am-specific decklid spoiler props a large horizontal "TRANS AM" call-out above clear, pyramid-style tail lights, highly detailed Firebird and "PONTIAC" emblems and a great looking, body-width chrome bumper. Under this Trans Am's sculpted steel hood you'll find a fully rebuilt motor that starts quick, runs perfectly and produces the kind of confident roar that old school Pontiacs are known for! At the top of the car's clean block, a fully functional induction system feeds roughly 50 degree air into a correct Rochester Quadrajet carburetor. Below that carburetor, a correct intake and original cylinder heads force high octane combustion through original long branch exhaust manifolds. Heat from that combustion is controlled by a leak-free radiator which is hooked to reproduction GM hoses, reproduction tower clamps and an original plastic fan shroud that features a correct grease mark. The block itself displays a slick coat of correct Turquoise paint from its intake all the way to its oil pan. The car's fenders, firewall and hood are covered in a smooth coat of GM satin black. Niceties such as fresh chrome valve covers, a correct AC compressor, a reproduction Delco Energizer battery, a fresh brake booster and a full set of decals can be found in all the right places. And aesthetically, this F1's highly detailed engine bay is 100% ready for show! Take a look at the bottom of this Pontiac and you'll find an immaculately restored undercarriage with rock solid satin black floor pans. Behind the high revving motor, an original Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed sends power to an original 10 bolt rear end that's equipped with a correct Safe-T-Track differential and correct 3.23 gears. That solid drivetrain is centered on the car's original double A-arm front and rear leaf spring suspension. At the head of that suspension, factory power steering provides easy turns and competent handling. At the corners of that suspension, standard power front disc and rear drum brakes provide modern stopping power. And at the back of that suspension, a fresh stainless fuel tank sends go juice through new stainless fuel lines. Naturally, all the car's hardware and bushings appear to be in like-new condition. There's a stainless, factory replacement exhaust system that employs all the right components and makes all the right sounds. And power meets the pavement through original 14 inch GM Rally II wheels which spin familiar Goodyear Polyglas F70-14 white letter tires around pristine stainless trim rings and awesome "PMD" branded center caps. Pop this Trans Am's solid white doors and you'll find a correct GM code 200 blue vinyl interior that's been brought back to life with a series of high quality reproduction pieces. The plush bucket seats, which were rebuilt and re-covered during the restoration, provide comfortably firm support and display no fading or tears. Below those seats, new blue carpet shows minimal wear and has likely been carefully protected by fresh arrowhead branded floor mats since it was installed. Above those seats, a stain-free headliner stretches tightly from the car's new A-pillar trim to its fresh sail panels. Between those seats, a familiar F-Body console still features its factory optioned 'wood' trim. At the front of the car, a clean dash makes room for the speedometer as well the inclusive gas, temperature, oil and generator gauges. To the right of those gauges, controls for the car's factory heat and air conditioning ride above a correct Delco radio. At the sides of the car, original one-piece door panels anchor well-maintained armrests between complete stainless trim and chrome handles for the doors and windows. In front of the driver, a familiar Sport steering wheel spins a wood rim and three satin finished spokes around a vivid "PMD" branded horn button. And behind the cockpit, the car's fully restored trunk props a correct spare tire and a correct jack assembly on a traditional houndstooth mat. Up for sale is my E-350 Quigley 4x4 extended van. This is the absolute most sought after build with the 7.3 liter turbo Powerstroke diesel and extended body. There are only 106,XXX original miles! I have yet to see another 7.3 4x4 van with original miles this low - a very rare find. This van is solid and in really sound mechanical shape. The engine is completely stock, and runs solid as a rock. I've never had cold start issues, or any mechanical or performance issues. This would make the perfect reliable vehicle for a hiking group, hunting buddies, boy-scout troop, or the ultimate platform to build your dream Sportsmobile expedition or bugout vehicle. It was originally set up as a 15 passenger club wagon with all of the rows of seats but one removed in 2014. It has dual AC with front and rear controls, and cold air ducts on the ceiling throughout the cab. New replaced items summer of 2013 - spring 2014: · Fuel injector communication harnesses · Two new batteries · Positive terminal cable (on a diesel van, this runs from the front battery in the engine compartment to the secondary battery towards the back of the vehicle) · Rebuilt and upgraded transmission with a triple-billet torque converter (very beefy for any hauling needs) · Replaced high-pressure AC line and completed a full system recharge; this thing cools down like an icebox with great front and rear air! After the above work was completed Derrick of Colorado Camper Van did the following in July of 2014: · Power steering box upgrade · Custom 40 gallon welded steel fuel tank · Quigley factory authorized upgrade/recall package – to remove ‘Quigley wobble’ · Complete long arm 4” lift suspension package · All new Bilson shocks and stabilizer · Front coil springs · Track bar Then again in 2015 Colorado Camper Van did the following: · Installed new 4.5 Onan diesel generator (has app. 2 hours total use) · Installed custom steel front bumper and brush guard – textured black powder coat · Installed roof rack & ladder · Installed 3 assist step-up’s at each door · Replaced trailer plug & installed combination safe in hitch receiver · Resealed rear windows (rear door seals should be replaced at this point) · Replaced all 5 factory steel wheels – w/ new Goodyear Wrangler Kevlar LT265/75R16’s Things of note: · The original owner of this van was a government contractor hired to inspect and monitor pipelines in the state of Oklahoma (rust-free state) and it has had regular maintenance. It was a corporate vehicle and apparently never or very seldom was used in 4 wheel drive as when inspected all of the parts looked brand new inside. · This van is equipped with a special factory ordered/installed Ford brand digital controller module that allows driver manual control of the 7.3 Powerstroke diesel idle speed for dialing in specific performance highway mileage goals – or reducing engine RPM for fuel conservation during long idling/rest periods. This unit also features an optional power take off RPM control. A retired Ford diesel mechanic said that at the time this was a $1600 factory option, and it makes perfect sense for drivers to be able to control RPM in every situation… and the ability to dial it up or down at will - like when sitting idling or under load while in 4 wheel drive for example. · This van has had the complete recommended Quigley recalled parts replacement upgrade which took care of the potential cracked parts issues and eliminated the traditional and expected “Quigley sway” experienced at high speeds, making long distance highway travel at 75 – 80 MPH on cruise control a pleasure. · This van also comes with Ford (factory or dealer) installed cold weather engine warmer with plug in under front bumper for easy access. · Custom welded solid heavy plate steel front and rear bumpers (rear w/hitch and pigtail). · This van has super duty front and rear heat and air conditioning with adjustable zoned vents throughout the cabin area roof and side walls that perform instantaneously in all climate conditions. Known remaining issues: The engine, transmission, driveline, suspension, Quigley upgrade, heating/cooling systems, electrical and fuel systems are all basically done, leaving the following to complete: · There is a 3’ long by 6” dent on the driver side near the rear body panel (see pics) that did not break the paint seal and should pull out easily. · The passenger side mirror should be replaced with another Ford OEM part soon due to unfortunate yet humorous (to me in the passenger seat anyway) low speed Walgreens drive through brick column incident… · The headliner needs to be replaced – have a current professional quote for $250. · Although there are no leaks driving 75 MPH in a downpour for hours, we were advised to replace all door and window seals on any Ford E-series van product over 10 years old with standard OEM parts (more for wind noise reduction than anything else). · I was just at the 4X4 shop this week and was told that I should replace the lockout hubs with Ford OEM parts which I have ordered and will include with the vehicle for you to install. · Planning your build-out… (Have bid from www.ColoradoCamperVan.com for complete custom build out w/everything we could possibly think of including solar and Dish TV to use as guide to ultimate expedition grade Sportsmobile). All that remains are some minor body work and door/window seal issues - and the build out… the fun clean parts of the conversion now that the mechanical work is done. General: I patiently waited for this van to come for sale for over 3 years – one with this exact combination of features and low original miles – and then got into a bidding war with two other people before I got it. The entire driveline is tight and has no known leaks anywhere, and leaves no little spots of anything on the driveway. Why am I selling it? Well… it’s a long story, but I listed this on ebay last year and got several good offers, but then chickened out and kept it. I’m not a dealer or a ‘flipper’ and have owned this for 3 years now. Now it’s time to do the interior and I know I’ll never decide how I want to do it. This is a solid van that doesn’t have all of the typical characteristic high miles ‘shake, rattle and roll’ other 4X4 Ford cargo base vans typically have. We have rolled dozens and dozens of Jeep Grand Wagoneers in the past year but only three in the gorgeous black with the honey tan leather interior. This snow free south and southwestern sheltered carriage was driven just 99,895 miles over her 30 year life, that works out to just 3,300 miles per year and with that level of usage, she is bound to be in splendid shape. All those miles were accumulated in the relatively snow and road salt free states of Kansas, New Mexico and Oklahoma. Nothing shines like a beautiful black Grand Wagoneer set against that stylish wood siding. This Jeep makes a formal statement and would be welcome from the beach to the country club. Chances are she won’t be with us long.That beautiful tuxedo black paint was applied just this year by the previous owner and is gorgeous. At the same time the original wood siding and trim were removed and replaced with new wood and siding from Team Grand Wagoneer. The aluminum wheels were likewise just redone and the look spectacular. The whitewall tires surrounding them are also fresh. The remaining chrome and aluminum exterior bits (grill & bumpers, etc) appear original and while not new condition, still reflective of the low total miles on this example. The honey tan leather interior further confirms the very low usage over all the years. The seats themselves are in very good to excellent condition with just the very lightest wear evident. Tan interiors are generally more sought after on these Jeeps than the burgundy alternative but burgundy generally holds up better over time. To have a tan interior like this one, looking so strong, is very uncommon. The carpeting is also in very good condition except for the rear cargo area corners by the tailgate. Common spot for wear to develop but both spots are easily covered with the matching Weathertech cargo mat.The power windows, power seats, power door locks, air conditioning, heat and the new AM/FM/CD stereo are all performing correctly with just the cruise control and power side mirrors not functioning. (Side mirrors can be manually adjusted of course and the original factory cruise control was always rubbish anyway). The 4 wheel drive High (For highway use) and 4 wheel Low (trail use) are serviced and ready for action. The engine/transmission/electricals have all been inspected and works sorted, where deemed needed. Yes, our sales are all as is but we have heavily detailed service invoices covering any mechanical and electrical works we performed and are happy to supply copies to buying prospects.
