Looking to expand its clientele, Pontiac decided to up the ante a bit by offering an F-Body with an optional Trans Am Performance and Appearance Package. Ten years later the Trans Am had a large fan base. To commemorate that ten year anniversary, Pontiac decided to offer its first Special Anniversary Trans Am. And when it was all said and done, they had assembled 7,500 of what fans call 'the silver car'. Of those 7,500 Tenth Anniversary Editions, only 1,817 had the L78 6.6L 400ci V8 and the Borg Warner T-10 4-speed. Today this silver Screamin' Chicken sits a true survivor with only 8,688 actual miles registering on its odometer. Before we get too much further, let's take a look at the original build sheet to show just how highly optioned these special cars really were:AU3: Electric Door LocksA01 : All Tinted GlassA31: Power WindowsA51: Bucket SeatsA90: Power Deck LidBS1: Insulation PackageB18: IP Assist HandlingB37: Front & Rear Floor MatsB89: Black Reveal MoldingB97: Wheel SpoilersCC1: Hatch RoofCD4: Pulse Windshield WipersC49: Electric Rear DefoggerC60: Air ConditioningC95: Dome/Reading LampD34: Visor MirrorD35: Sport MirrorsD53: Hood DecalD55 Floor ConsoleD80: Rear SpoilerD92: Tape Deck StripeF41: Rear Stability BarGU5: 3.23 Axle RatioG80: Posi-traction AxleJL1: Pedal TrimJ65: 4-wheel disc brakesK15: Fuel ReturnK81: 63-amp GeneratorL78: V8 400 4bblM21: 4-speed TransmissionNA5: Standard EmissionsNK3: Formula Steering WheelN33: Tilt Steering WheelN65: Space Saver Spare TireN90: Cast Aluminum WheelsQGR: P225/70R15LTRTR9: Lamp GroupTT5: Quartz LampsT93: Black Tail LampsUA1: Heavy Duty BatteryUN9: Radio SuppressionUP8: Standard Radio ProvisionsU05: Dual HornsU17 InstrumentationU25: Luggage Compartment LampU29: Courtesy LightU35: Electric ClockU75: Power AntennaU80: Dual Rear SpeakersWS4: Trans AmWS6: Special Performance PackageWV7: Charcoal GraphicsW72: Performance PackageYR1: Custom Front SeatsYS1 Custom Rear SeatsYT1: Custom Door Panels15L: Gray and Sliver Anniversary paint You would never guess that this Firebird is nearly 40 years old. The body looks absolutely stunning and is covered in the original two-tone paint. The Silver lower paint is separated from the Charcoal upper paint by a small red accent line. At the front of the body is a special massive screaming chicken decal that rests on the hood. The black, white and red decal flows seamlessly with the standard silver and charcoal paint. Above the decal is the shaker hood that has the lettering T/A 6.6 on either side. Behind the front tires you will also find Trans Am decals with special 10th anniversary badging. On the roof you will find correct, mirrored T-tops. At the back of the car is a slick rear spoiler and more Trans Am badging. Pop the hood on this Firebird and you'll be greeted by an original L78 6.6L 400ci V8. With just over 200 horsepower, this was and is still a wickedly fun car to drive. Due to emission standards, 1979 was the final year that Pontiac offered all of its larger displacement engines. Starting in 1980, the largest engine was the 305ci V8. Bolted to the 400 cubic inch Pontiac V8 is the original 4-speed Borg Warner Super T-10 transmission, which sends power to a 3.23 Posi-traction rear end. Spent gases travel down the original headers to and out the original dual exhaust. Power 4-wheel disc brakes are responsible for slowing the Firebird, while the entire car rides on special 15x8 cast aluminum wheels that have been wrapped in Goodyear Polysteel Radials. Open the door to this Trans Am and you'll find a very well preserved silver leather interior that features firm bucket seats. The Firebird logos are stitched into both door panels and in the rear bucket seats. An aluminum dash panel houses all the instrument gauges and the electronically tuned digital display AM/FM Stereo with an 8 track player. This is where you'll also see the odometer that reads 8,688 miles. Power windows, power door locks, Soft Ray glass, custom seat belts, and an electric rear defroster are also present in the interior. The sale of this incredibly preserved Firebird Trans Am includes the aforementioned build sheet, an original owner's manual, an original maintenance schedule and original sale documentation. Ultimately Pontiac's decision to create a special ten year anniversary Firebird Trans Am was a true success. Pontiac sold over 116,000 Firebird Trans Ams in 1979, which still stands today as the record. This special anniversary edition is an amazing time capsule that can still be enjoyed day in and day out. Don't miss your opportunity to bring home a very rare production car that pays tribute to the first generation Firebird Trans Am. [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1971 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Frame Off Restored Firebird Trans Am 455 HO V8 3 Speed Year: 1971 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: White Mileage: 76776 Transmission type: 3 Speed Automatic Engine: 455 HO V8 Interior color: Black Vehicle info By now you've probably realized that RK Motors Charlotte employs quite a few diehard Pontiac fans. I mean, after all, RKMC does attract people who bleed 100 octane racing fuel; and Pontiac, at its core, was completely dedicated to selling outrageous metal to serious gearheads. So naturally, we can't help but melt like a hot tire in a staging lane when we find a vintage Indian like this investment grade Trans Am. Completely detailed, and highly accurate throughout, this pristine big block Poncho features factory air conditioning, a stack of historic documentation, and features the original numbers matching drivetrain. But, before we get to far lets first decode the VIN:228871N******2: Pontiac 28: Firebird Trans Am 87: 2-door hardtop 1: 1971 N: Norwood, Ohio XXXXXX: six digit production sequence Because their production was so low to begin with, early second generation Trans Ams are becoming increasingly hard to purchase. And when you throw in the fact that, for years, first generation cars got all the glory in the eyes of restorers, it just complicates the search even more. Only 2,116 Trans Ams left the factory in 1971, and only 1,231 were equipped with an automatic transmission like this immaculate '71. RK Motors Charlotte is happy to feature this killer 1971 Trans Am which combines a striking blue on white color combination with the original YE 455 cubic inch V8 and the original 3-speed automatic transmission. Not only does this stunning Poncho have the power to back up its outstanding looks, it's also fresh out of a professional, frame-off restoration that's so spotless you'd think it's never been driven. It starts with the body that is covered in a fresh coat of Cameo white with blue accent pieces on the hood top and trunk. The overall look combined with the powerful 455 under the hood makes for a very intimidating ride. The 70's were a defining decade for the Firebird. Sales were slow and new 'low speed' crash mandates required that the car either be completely redesigned or jump on the bandwagon of hideous and hastily done nose jobs that were creeping into every automakers showroom. GM refused to spend the money on redesigning the car because of its low sales; and fortunately, Pontiac had a talented engineering staff which managed to blend both functionality and style into the car you see here. Up front, a straight and glossy Endura bumper hangs a familiar 2-piece Pontiac grille between clear headlights and chrome trimmed parking lights. At the top of the car, a blue screaming chicken logo leads to a great looking "455 HO" branded shaker that sits in front of pristine, Soft Ray glass that's bordered by well-maintained stainless trim. At the sides of the car, body-matched sport mirrors hang between traditional Pontiac fender vents, chrome door handles and correct white fender flares. And at the back of the car, an optional decklid spoiler hangs the words Trans Am above a centered "PONTIAC" script, a pair of pristine exhaust tips, the last set of 'small' tail lights to ever adorn a Trans Am rear valence, and a chrome bumper. The heart of any brawny muscle car is its engine, and this Firebird's 455 is enough to grab the attention of any one that walks by or hears it fire up. These largely hand-built monsters, which featured significantly reinforced components, were arguably some of the last high horsepower monsters created in the muscle car era. Lift the hood, and you'll see the original numbers matching 455 ci V8 that wears a correct YE stamp and matching partial VIN. At the top of that big engine, a traditional Trans Am underhood induction system feeds fresh air to a correct 4-barrel carburetor that's bolted to the Pontiac intake. The powerful engine was completely rebuilt in 2006 by Automotive Machine in Fraser, MI. During the extensive build the block was overhauled, new pistons, rings, bearings, cam, lifters, oil pump, and timing set was installed. Aesthetically, this Trans Am's first class engine bay is 100% ready for show. The block itself displays a slick coat of correct blue paint all the way from its intake to its oil pan. The car's fenders, firewall and hood are covered in a combination of smooth GM satin black paint. And niceties such as a newly freshened air conditioning system, a new brake booster, and a full set of correct decals are found in all the right places. At the bottom of this slick second generation Firebird, solid floorpans reflect years of sunny southwest living and a fully sorted suspension tells the story of excellent maintenance and very little storage time. Behind the monster motor is the original, virtually indestructible, GM Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed automatic transmission, that sends power to a familiar 10 bolt rear end that does a great job on both the back roads and the interstate. Below that stellar powertrain a rebuilt Trans Am suspension, which includes power steering, thicker sway bars, better shocks and stiffer springs, combines with standard issue power front disc and rear drum brakes to provide quick stops and great handling. And at the center of the car, a true dual exhaust system utilizes an X-pipe crossover and welded aftermarket mufflers to bark out a deep, vintage roar. All this road ready hardware rolls on a restored set of Pontiac factory styled steel wheels without trim rings, which spin proven F60-15 Goodyear Polyglass rubber. Everything under this classic appears to be restored, tagged and painted just as it would've left the factory. In terms of interior dcor, Pontiac's 70s team was firing on all eight cylinders. While this car's horsepower rating might seem relatively modest compared to earlier muscle cars, there's no disputing the beauty of its design. The rebuilt vinyl bucket seats are supple, firm, and look every bit as nice and rich as their name implies. Below those seats, like-new carpet, which is carefully protected by thick firebird branded rubber mats, displays no fading or unraveling; and between those seats, a molded black console props an enclosed storage bin behind the 3-speed automatic controls. At the top of the car, a stain-free headliner is stretched tight from the front window to the back window. At the sides of the car, hard to find door panels hang pristine chrome handles between chrome window cranks and full armrests. In front of the driver, an optional tilt steering column spins a black Formula steering wheel around an engine turned instrument panel, sliders for the car's climate system and a AM/FM radio. And behind the cockpit, a fully restored trunk hangs a fresh decklid decal above a full-size spare tire and a correct jack assembly. The sale of this pristine pony car includes the PHS documents, restoration receipts and assorted product manuals. If your definition of classic Detroit muscle is a highly accurate, beautifully presented, meticulously crafted Pontiac, it's your lucky day! This 455 is fast, rare, impressive, and there probably aren't many cars built in 1971 that are more desirable. So, what are you waiting for? Don't miss your chance to take home a world class, investment grade Trans Am! About this auction & rk motors charlotte Please note that all sales are binding and final. [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Investment Grade Firebird Trans Am Ram Air III V8 w/AC Year: 1969 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: White Mileage: 36235 Transmission type: 3 Speed Automatic Engine: 400 Ram Air III V8 Interior color: Blue Vehicle info There are MANY reasons to love classic cars. Most people drive them because they look good and sound cool. A lot of folks enjoy them because of the memories they've made in them. And some savvy collectors buy them based on numbers alone. Well, every once in a while a car like this awesome 1969 Trans Am comes along and presents the rare opportunity to bundle all of those attractive traits into one exceptionally cool package. It's a Pontiac, so it automatically looks good and sounds cool. Since it's some of the most storied American muscle ever built, I'm willing to bet everyone has at least one great memory of the car. And, as a documented classic that's 1 of only 689 produced, 1 of only 114 Ram Air III/Turbo-Hydramatic 400 platforms, and 1 of only 29 Ram Air III/Turbo-Hydramatic 400 platforms equipped with factory air conditioning, it definitely has impressive numbers. If you're looking for a fully documented, no excuses muscle car to anchor your high end collection, this rotisserie restored Pontiac is your next #1! Since we're already talking numbers, here's a barrage of castings, stamps and sequences that prove both the authenticity of this Trans Am's assembly and the accuracy of its restoration:ENGINE STAMP - "YW": 335 horsepower, 400 cubic inch Firebird Ram Air III V8 that's equipped with 10.75 to 1 compression, a 4-barrel carburetor and an automatic transmission.ENGINE CASTING - 9790071: 335 horsepower, 400 cubic inch V8 that was cast in 1969.ENGINE PARTIAL VIN - 29N110438: 2 = Pontiac, 9 = 1969 model year, N = Assembled at GM's Norwood, Ohio manufacturing facility, 110438 = Last six digits of the car's vehicle identification number.CYLINDER HEAD CASTINGS - 62 : 400 cubic inch V8 that's equipped with one 4-barrel Quadrajet carburetor.EXHAUST MANIFOLD CASTINGS - 9779495 (Driver's side): 400 cubic inch Firebird Ram Air engine. 9797073 (Passenger's side): 400 cubic inch Firebird Ram Air engine.CARBURETOR NUMBER - 7029270 XA: 70 = before 1976, 29 = 1969 model year, 2 = 49 state emissions code, 7 = Pontiac division, 0 = automatic transmission, XA = plant code.TRANSMISSION TAG - 69 PQ 1058: 69 = 1969 model year, PQ = 400 cubic inch Ram Air V8 that's equipped with a 4-barrel carburetor, 1058 = transmission VIN.AXLE CODE - 113 ZHZF: Safe -T Track differential that's equipped with 3:23 gears (which were standard on air conditioned cars).COWL TAG- 69: 1969 model year- 22337: 2 = Pontiac, 23 = Firebird, 37 = 2-door sport coupe- NOR: Assembled at GM's Norwood, Ohio manufacturing facility- 70355: Fisher Body sequence number- 200: Dark Blue Standard interior trim- 50: Cameo Ivory lower exterior paint- 50: Cameo Ivory upper exterior paint- 08E: Assembled during the fifth (E) week of August (08) Okay, numbers aside, what's the status of this storied Pontiac? And more importantly, how fresh is the car? Well, at the 2007 Pontiac-Oakland meet in Tulsa, Oklahoma it walked away with a Gold Award in the Restored Class, scoring 372 out of a possible 400 points. It's seen fewer than a hundred miles of very careful road time since undergoing a world class restoration. And aesthetically, it looks and feels new in virtually every way. A close inspection reveals creamy Cameo White paint that lies flat and smooth under straight Tyrol Blue stripes and an excellent Tyrol Blue tail panel. Speaking of panels, their fit and finish has been massaged to much higher tolerances than any of the good folks at Norwood would've ever dreamed. And overall, this is one very clean muscle car! Originally envisioned as an engineering piece that would show the world what Pontiac could do on the race track, the 1969 Trans Am was basically an engine and appearance package by the time it made the leap from concept to production. Much of Pontiac's top brass openly derided the car because they felt the GTO Judge was a better answer to the same question and the 1970 Trans Am, which was said to be a whole new league of pony car, was just around the corner. Little did those folks know that 60s Pontiac folklore would combine with the limited sales of the '69 model to kick start a legacy of visual excitement that would last over three decades! At the front of this pristine 'bird, a new for '69 Endura nose hangs Trans Am-specific grilles, which are complete with a silver arrowhead and a white inlayed "PONTIAC" script, between four T3 headlights. Below those headlights, the car's sculpted front valence perfectly aligns ornate parking lights above a Trans Am specific chin spoiler. And above those headlights, the car's imposing hood props "RAM AIR" branded scoops in front of satin stainless wipers. At the sides of the car, expressive 'coke bottle' character lines are highlighted by a standard chrome mirror, dent-free stainless body moldings and traditional GM door handles. Between those bolt-ons, small "TRANS AM" call-outs combine with Trans Am-specific air extractors and highly detailed Firebird marker lights to add just the right amount of texture to glossy white paint. At the top of the car, like-new glass is framed by straight stainless trim and fresh chrome drip rails. And at the back of the car, a Trans Am-specific decklid spoiler props a large horizontal "TRANS AM" call-out above clear, pyramid-style tail lights, highly detailed Firebird and "PONTIAC" emblems and a great looking, body-width chrome bumper. Under this Trans Am's sculpted steel hood you'll find a fully rebuilt motor that starts quick, runs perfectly and produces the kind of confident roar that old school Pontiacs are known for! At the top of the car's clean block, a fully functional induction system feeds roughly 50 degree air into a correct Rochester Quadrajet carburetor. Below that carburetor, a correct intake and original cylinder heads force high octane combustion through original long branch exhaust manifolds. Heat from that combustion is controlled by a leak-free radiator which is hooked to reproduction GM hoses, reproduction tower clamps and an original plastic fan shroud that features a correct grease mark. The block itself displays a slick coat of correct Turquoise paint from its intake all the way to its oil pan. The car's fenders, firewall and hood are covered in a smooth coat of GM satin black. Niceties such as fresh chrome valve covers, a correct AC compressor, a reproduction Delco Energizer battery, a fresh brake booster and a full set of decals can be found in all the right places. And aesthetically, this F1's highly detailed engine bay is 100% ready for show! Take a look at the bottom of this Pontiac and you'll find an immaculately restored undercarriage with rock solid satin black floor pans. Behind the high revving motor, an original Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed sends power to an original 10 bolt rear end that's equipped with a correct Safe-T-Track differential and correct 3.23 gears. That solid drivetrain is centered on the car's original double A-arm front and rear leaf spring suspension. At the head of that suspension, factory power steering provides easy turns and competent handling. At the corners of that suspension, standard power front disc and rear drum brakes provide modern stopping power. And at the back of that suspension, a fresh stainless fuel tank sends go juice through new stainless fuel lines. Naturally, all the car's hardware and bushings appear to be in like-new condition. There's a stainless, factory replacement exhaust system that employs all the right components and makes all the right sounds. And power meets the pavement through original 14 inch GM Rally II wheels which spin familiar Goodyear Polyglas F70-14 white letter tires around pristine stainless trim rings and awesome "PMD" branded center caps. Pop this Trans Am's solid white doors and you'll find a correct GM code 200 blue vinyl interior that's been brought back to life with a series of high quality reproduction pieces. The plush bucket seats, which were rebuilt and re-covered during the restoration, provide comfortably firm support and display no fading or tears. Below those seats, new blue carpet shows minimal wear and has likely been carefully protected by fresh arrowhead branded floor mats since it was installed. Above those seats, a stain-free headliner stretches tightly from the car's new A-pillar trim to its fresh sail panels. Between those seats, a familiar F-Body console still features its factory optioned 'wood' trim. At the front of the car, a clean dash makes room for the speedometer as well the inclusive gas, temperature, oil and generator gauges. To the right of those gauges, controls for the car's factory heat and air conditioning ride above a correct Delco radio. At the sides of the car, original one-piece door panels anchor well-maintained armrests between complete stainless trim and chrome handles for the doors and windows. In front of the driver, a familiar Sport steering wheel spins a wood rim and three satin finished spokes around a vivid "PMD" branded horn button. And behind the cockpit, the car's fully restored trunk props a correct spare tire and a correct jack assembly on a traditional houndstooth mat. The sale of this storied Tin Indian includes some original dealer marketing materials, an original owner's manual, the car's original warranty paperwork, pictures and talking points from the car's world class restoration, a full Pontiac Historic Services packet, Pontiac-Oakland judging sheets and, of course, the car's coveted Pontiac-Oakland Gold Award. Even though it's incredibly well-sorted, this first generation Trans Am is a true too-nice-to-drive car. From its silky white surfaces draped with slick blue stripes to its fantastic, as-new trim, this Pontiac exceeds all expectations. Stop by our showroom as quick as you can to see this gorgeous Firebird in person. About this auction & rk motors charlotte Please note that all sales are binding and final. If you know where "east bound and down" came from, it's a good possibility you're very familiar with this 1977 Pontiac Trans Am Special Edition. And if you have fond memories of this Trans Am SE, I'm certain you know the meaning of both 'numbers-matching' and 'investment grade'. What's my point? If you're one of the growing number of enthusiasts rediscovering just how cool F2 Trans Ams are, but aren't quite sure you want to regress that far into youth, here's your chance to throw a little sophistication into the mix. Fully documented and ready to roll, this brassy black and gold 'bird isn't just a bold throwback to simpler times and cooler cars, it's a blue chip commentary on smart investment for the future. So, if you're into big block American muscle and giant Screamin' Chicken decals, order up some flutes of Coors, throw on the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra's Down on the Farm and toast your next classic! Before we jump head-first into this vintage Poncho's detailed description, I'll go ahead and break down both its VIN and cowl tag: VIN: 2W87Z7N1827582: Pontiac Motor DivisionW: Trans Am87: Sports coupeZ: 400 cubic inch V87: 1977 model yearN: Assembled in Norwood, Ohio182758: Production sequence number COWL TAG:77 - 1977 Model year2FS87 - 2: Pontiac Motor Division, FS: Firebird, 87: coupeN Assembled at GM's Norwood, Ohio manufacturing facility173722 The car's Fisher Body production number19B Black cloth interiorA51 - Bucket seats19L 19U - Starlight Black lower (L) and upper (U) exterior paint03D Assembled during the fourth week (D) of March (3), 1977WS4 - Trans AmBLK Secondary interior color: Black380793 Fisher Body time and date code. Assembled at GM's famous Norwood, Ohio manufacturing facility in March of 1977, this pristine Trans Am coupe was delivered to Mall Pontiac in Dayton, Ohio to begin a long, accident-free tour of the American Midwest. In the spring of 2013, the car's already solid restoration was freshened to better-than-new condition. And today, logging only weekend miles since that thorough dust off, this spectacular F2 displays a killer coat of correct Starlight Black urethane under Special Edition-exclusive full outlining stripes and an iconic Special Edition-exclusive Screamin' Chicken hood decal. Despite their minimalist brightwork, second generation Trans Ams were highly decorated cars that brought new meaning to the word 'details'. At the front of this 'bird, straight and glossy urethane hangs Special Edition headlight buckets and a small "PONTIAC" script between a correct "TRANS AM" call-out and traditional red arrowhead. Behind that urethane, a great looking "T/A-6.6" branded hood anchors like-new glass beneath painted stainless trim and exclusive Hurst T-tops. At the sides of that hood, correct "TRANS AM" call-outs and Special Edition B-pillar birds complement traditional fender vents, black-accented door handles and correct wheel spoilers. And at the back of the car, a rounded D80 trunk wing aligns a correct "TRANS AM" call-out above factory-fresh tail lights, a small "PONTIAC" script and original side splitter exhaust tips. Pop this tin indian's dramatic hood and you'll find a stout, 400 cubic inch Pontiac V8 that forms a correct 568557 casting number behind a matching 182758 partial VIN. Thanks to government-mandated emissions standards, performance had almost been legislated out of existence; and that left the Trans Am suffering a bit of an identity crisis. This 'bird's "XA" branded L78 combined the largest muscle car engine you could buy with Pontiac's proven "6X" head design and newfound handling prowess to create one of the fastest pony cars on the market. At the top of the smooth mill, a big Rochester carburetor and modern HEI distributor ride under a familiar Trans Am shaker. Below those components, warm GM Corporate Blue paint coats the entire block, while correct cast iron manifolds funnel spent gases into factory-fresh exhaust pipes. All the hard parts around the motor, from the fresh brake booster and rebuilt alternator to the functional Delco Air conditioning and fender plenum air tube, appear to be factory-correct. The car's authentic engine bay and hood are covered in a nice combination of GM Satin and Pontiac Starlight Black. And, as expected, there's pliable belts, clean hoses and a strong battery. At the bottom of this Trans Am, a clean undercarriage is comprised of straight floorpans that display thick undercoating, and a satin black chassis that retains a showroom-fresh luster. In the middle of that undercarriage, an original Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed, which wears a correct 182758 partial VIN, sends power to a posi-traction differential and mild, 2.41 gears. Below that stellar powertrain, a rebuilt WS4 suspension, which includes power steering, thicker sway bars, better shocks and stiffer springs, combines with standard issue power front disc and rear drum brakes to provide quick stops and great handling. At the center of that suspension, an original exhaust system barks a deep, vintage roar through an original, transversely-mounted muffler. At the corners of that exhaust, restored snow flakes spin gold, Special Edition paint between 'gold bird' center caps and modern 225/70 BF Goodrich Radial T/As. And all the car's hardware and bushings, from its leak-free fuel tank to its correctly installed emergency brake cable, appear to be lucid and in good shape. Open this Pontiac's massive black doors and you'll find an original velour interior that wraps gold, Special Edition trim in a whole lot of old school style! The airy cockpit begins with thick seats that are firm, crisp and look every bit as nice as their rich name implies. Below those seats, like-new carpet, which is protected by thick rubber floor mats, centers a molded console on chrome power window switches. At the sides of that carpet, hard to find door panels hang small Pioneer speakers between correct gold emblems, bright chrome handles and optional power locks. Above those panels, a stain-free headliner stretches tightly around the car's aforementioned T-tops. In front of the driver, an optional tilt steering column spins a gold Formula steering wheel around a gold, engine-turned instrument panel, sliders for the car's air conditioning and a modern Kenwood CD player. And behind the passengers, large Pioneer deck speakers hang over a fully restored trunk. Like most of our investment grade transactions, this sale includes a car and so much more. Gas was cheap, technology made high performance offerings insanely easy to work on and about the only thing that mattered was getting to the next stoplight faster than the guy beside you. From spry Japanese sports cars to insane creations like the Plymouth Prowler and Dodge Viper, it truly was one of the best times to be an automotive enthusiast. And, fortunately, low-mileage muscle like this sweet 25th Anniversary Trans Am allows a few lucky car guys to relish those days just a little bit longer. Immaculately maintained and rarely driven, this Poncho, 1 of only 338 25th Anniversary hardtops produced, wraps GM's proven LT1/4-speed drivetrain in a super cool color combination that's a blatant nod to muscle cars of yore. And, if you're longing for a modern performer that still possesses the appeal of showroom-fresh metal, this is just the bargain you've been waiting for! BODYWORK/TRIM Displaying official aesthetics for the 338 Trans Am Anniversary hardtops that would end up in the hands of enthusiasts, this clean coupe is a virtually spotless garage queen that's seen very little pavement time. 100% straight, with no history of catastrophic damage, the car's fuselage is an even wedge of all-original paint. High quality 25th Anniversary-exclusive call-outs, courtesy of GM's St. Therese, Quebec assembly plant, still shine with the best cars on the road. And overall, this Pontiac conveys a premium sense of collectability that, when combined with its spectacular performance, creates a timeless modern classic. ENGINE If you find a ride that's branded with Screamin' Chicken badges, chances are good that something mean lives under its hood. This top-of-the-line F4 validates that chance variable with a venerable 5.7L LT1 V8. Not to be confused with the high-performance LT-1 of the '70s, this version was introduced in 1992 as primary motivation for the C4 Corvette. By 1994, the basic formula of a 2-bolt main block with aluminum heads remained, but the motor had been revised to employ a Mass Airflow Sensor and Sequential Port Fuel Injection. And power was up to 275 horses, which translated to low 14-second quarter mile passes right off the assembly line. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Peer under this coupe and you'll find a clean chassis that's been preserved via limited road use. Behind the LT1, a requisite 4L60E 4-speed twists torque through highway-friendly, 2.73 gears. Around that drivetrain, a stock suspension follows a double A-arm front half with a 3-link rear end. Power rack-and-pinion steering makes turning a breeze while power-assisted discs bring the car to a quick halt. And everything rolls on body-matched, Trans Am-branded wheels, which spin what appear to be original 245/50ZR16 Goodyear Eagle GS-Cs. INTERIOR Inside the car, an upscale Trans Am GT interior is built around bright bucket seats that adjust electronically for the driver and front passenger. A leather-clad steering wheel sports convenient thumb controls for a crisp Delco sound system. The instrument panel is a familiar red Pontiac layout that features a large tachometer and sweeping speedometer. At the floor, a conservative shifter rides in a straight and clean console. Naturally, all the luxuries you'd expect in a modern car are present and accounted for including: power windows, power door locks, power mirrors and remote keyless entry that's complete with GM's PASSkey theft deterrent system. And everything, from the car's optional cruise control all the way to its factory air conditioning, is in impeccable working order. It exhibits the best of everything from GM's fourth generation pony car. And it's the perfect fit for a serious Trans Am collector or anyone who loves showroom-fresh muscle. Buy this coupe and stash it away for a few decades, or take it out and enjoy every minute of one of the best eras of automotive performance! Add that tag to the already collectable F2 Trans Am and you've definitely got something special. Buyers in the 1970's must have realized this from day one as amazing cars like this original 16,093-mile 10th Anniversary Trans Am are slowly surfacing as values climb. Completely unrestored and optioned with the sought-after W72/4-speed combination, this is an already desirable T/A with a great outlook for the future. Looking for a fun place to park your money? This 1979 Trans Am is a strong candidate. We'll get started by breaking down the VIN: VIN: 2X87Z9N1680682 Brand: Pontiac X Series: 10th Anniversary Edition87 Body: Two door coupeZ Engine: W72 400cid V89-Year: 1979L Assembly Plant: Van Nuys, California Assembled at GM's Van Nuys, California manufacturing facility in April of 1979, this rare limited edition Trans Am was originally delivered to Schappe Pontiac in Madison, Wisconsin. Diligently maintained and completely unrestored, this survivor shows well overall. The original two-tone paint is in remarkably good shape and looks great from all angles. Since this Trans Am has never been disassembled, it still displays completely factory accurate panel gaps that look surprisingly good and provide great panel alignment. On top of the glossy and subdued paint, a new set of correct black and red outlining stripes, and anniversary call outs perfectly complement a menacing five color 'super bird' hood decal which flows seamlessly onto the car's front fenders. Not as 'loud' as the Gold Special Edition Trans Am and not quite as menacing as the Black Special Edition Trans Am, this silver 10th anniversary car combines typical Pontiac muscle car attitude with a more refined look that was way ahead of its time. Up front, a slick and pliable urethane front bumper houses four pristine headlights above large dual grilles which, while still being instantly identifiable as Pontiacs familiar split grille look, give the car a much more aggressive face. Behind that front bumper, a traditional shaker hood sits in front of a pristine original Soft Ray glass and proudly displays "T/A 6.6" denoting the cars rare and optional W72 Pontiac engine. Behind the windshield, anniversary car exclusive mirror tinted T-tops sit above chrome GM door handles and correct rear wheel air deflectors. On the front fenders, new black and red "Trans Am" decals are sandwiched between 10th anniversary exclusive screaming chicken decals and fender mounted air extractors with metal inserts. At the back of the car, more red and black 10th anniversary exclusive decals hang over showroom fresh blacked out tail lights and correct Firebird exclusive side splitter stainless exhaust tips. Between the fenders, you'll find a virtually untouched engine bay which houses the final, and some say greatest, Pontiac block ever created: an original 400 cubic inch W72 V8. By utilizing a thicker casting, chrome moly piston rings, a revised camshaft, a better oil pump, a better distributor and smaller '6X' heads from the division's own 350, the W72 created higher compression and successfully reversed almost a decade of declining horsepower numbers. Not only does this Trans Am's engine carry a correct 172902 partial VIN and a '79 W72/4-speed exclusive PWH stamp, it's also branded with an XX481988 casting number which is found exclusively on Pontiac's beefier W72 blocks. Top dead center is a correct Rochester 4-barrel carburetor, which rides under the car's awesome shaker hood scoop, and a correct HEI distributor, which sends power to the cylinders through replacement silicon plug wires. Below that carburetor, correct GM Corporate Blue paint coats the entire block; and below those plug wires, original cast iron manifolds send spent gases into a high performance factory exhaust system. The car's solid engine bay and hood are covered in a nice coat of familiar GM satin finish. Its original decals are bright and fade-free. Everything from its marked brake booster and Delco air compressor to its fender plenum air tube and satin finish chrome valve covers is in excellent, streetable condition. Take a look under this pampered F2 and you'll find a straight, rust-free frame. At the center, a W72-exclusive Borg Warner T10 aluminum 4-speed, which wears a 1304065903 casting number and correct partial VIN stamp, sends power to the car's original 3.23-geared 10 bolt rear end and optional WS6 performance suspension package. For 1979, Pontiac's famous WS6 package included larger sway bars, better shocks and springs, a tighter steering gear box and newly designed code J65 power front and rear disc brakes that, when combined with the cars standard power steering, made for serious handling ability and greatly reduced stopping distances. In the middle of that suspension a mostly original exhaust system, which appears to have been repaired with factory replacement mufflers and fresh stainless tail pipes, sends a deep Pontiac rumble through spotless stainless side splitter exhaust tips. At the corners of that suspension, flawless 15 inch turbo style aluminum wheels spin beefy 225/70 Goodyear Polysteel Radials around pristine 'red bird' center caps. Inside this Trans Am, the all original anniversary car exclusive silver leather interior looks fantastic showing very few signs of wear. The firm and comfortable seats are nice metallic silver pieces that have the liquid cool appearance of wet paint, and the original Cadillac supplied shag carpet has aged well. Between the seats, a clean gray console houses chrome switches for the car's power windows behind a chrome Hurst shifter and, above the seats, a stain free headliner is stretched tight around the car's mirrored tops and optional reading lamps. In front of the driver, an excellent looking engine turned dash houses crystal clear gauges above controls for heat and air conditioning, and an upgraded Delco-GM stereo and cassette player. And if authenticity is your thing, no worries; the car also comes with its original GM-Delco AM/FM stereo and 8-track player as well. At the sides of the seats, awesome silver door panels feature bright anniversary car exclusive embroidery that perfectly matches an anniversary car exclusive emblem in the center of the rear seat. Connecting the driver to the road is a correct aluminum steering wheel that features a gray rim and sits on an optional tilt steering column. Out back, the cars pristine trunk still has its original decals and carries the cars original stowaway spare tire. Documentation is extensive with a full PHS packet, original GM marketing and sales paperwork from Schappe Pontiac. Also included is a book covering the history of the Firebird as well as two posters one of an original Pontiac ad and another with miscellaneous pieces of the car's history displayed for all to see. We've featured many of these 10th Anniversary Trans Ams over the years and, without exception, they've all sold quickly. There's a devoted following who knows these are underrated car and all original pristine survivors like this one are exceptionally difficult to find. With its all Pontiac motor, hot close ratio 4-speed and four wheel disc brakes, this rare Trans Am is an excellent road car that has a tremendous potential upside. [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 33,117 Actual Mile Firebird Trans Am L78 400 V8 4 Speed Year: 1977 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Red Mileage: 33117 Transmission type: 4 Speed Manual Engine: 400 V8 Interior color: White Vehicle info Few muscle cars survived the political games and corporate greed that forever killed cubic inches, high compression and loud option packages. In fact, Pontiac was the only beacon of Detroit's storied past that continued to offer big power, big attitude and ostentatious looks. Today, that dedication translates to a group of late second generation F-Bodies which dominate a niche all their own; and, subsequently, a large group of emerging collectors who will continue to drive their prices on an increasingly upward trajectory. This awesome 1977 Trans Am is the exact car we get calls about on a regular basis. Not only does it have an outstanding presence, it also features an aesthetically correct appearance and sells at a level that's perfect for the first time buyer. Looking for a fun classic that allows you to wade into collecting as opposed to diving off the deep end? This is the sound of opportunity knocking! Purchased from Jim Grady Pontiac in Newark, Ohio, this refreshing red coupe sported $360 in factory installed options. Thanks to a lifetime of limited use and meticulous care, the car remains rock-solid and completely true to form. Its universal appeal starts with a sleek and correct combination of Buccaneer Red paint and familiar Pontiac curves. That bright pigment is set off by bold "TRANS AM" call-outs and a fresh Screamin' Chicken hood decal. And that egocentric branding is accented by prerequisite Pontiac scripts and traditional 'red bird' pillar emblems. Fresh out of a significant cosmetic update that was performed at the beginning of the 1977 model year, the late F2 Trans Am heralded minor visual tweaks and major mechanical upgrades. At the front of the car, a glossy 'batmobile' nose hangs black honeycomb grilles behind a traditional red arrowhead and multiple halogen lights that create the brand's familiar dual-grille, quad-eye face. Behind those grilles, a great looking "T/A 6.6" branded shaker rides in front of like-new glass that's seated between bright stainless trim and correct sport mirrors. At the sides of that shaker, black-detailed fender vents front small door handles and correct wheel spoilers. And at the back of the car, an option D80 decklid frames a Buccaneer Red valence, clear tail lights and polished side-splitter exhaust tips. Pop this Trans Am's long hood and you'll find a 400 cubic inch, VIN-stamped V8 that tops out at roughly 200 horsepower. That's an impressive number given the high restrictions and low technology of this car's era. Thanks to government mandated emissions standards, performance had essentially been legislated out of existence; and that left the Trans Am suffering a bit of an identity crisis. This bird's "WA" branded L78 combined the largest muscle car engine you could buy with newfound handling prowess to create one of the fastest pony cars on the market. At the top of the smooth mill, a big, 4-barrel carburetor rides under a familiar shaker hood scoop. Below that carburetor, glossy GM Corporate Blue paint skins the entire block while correct exhaust manifolds funnel spent gases into high performance pipes. All the motor's hard parts, from its 6X heads and chrome valve covers to its modern brake booster and belt-driven accessories, appear to be factory correct. The car's authentic engine bay is covered in a clean coat of GM Satin Black paint. There's an HEI distributor that feeds reliable AC Delco Premium Silicone wires. And, as expected, pliable belts, clean hoses and a strong battery set the stage for miles of carefree cruising. Under this vintage tin indian you'll find an amalgamation of super solid hardware that'll take to the street despite Mother Nature's worst temper tantrums. In the middle of the car's solid floors, a VIN-stamped Borg Warner T10 4-speed twists power to a familiar GM 10-bolt that's fitted with boulevard-busting gears. Below that stellar drivetrain, a correct WS4 Trans Am suspension, which includes factory power steering, thicker sway bars, better shocks and stiffer springs, combines with standard issue power front disc and rear drum brakes to provide quick stops and great handling. At the center of that suspension, the aforementioned exhaust system barks a deep, vintage roar through a transversely mounted muffler. At the corners of that exhaust, restored 'snow flake' wheels spin classic gold paint between 'red bird' center caps and modern 225/70 BF Goodrich Radial T/As. And all the car's hardware, from its leak-free fuel tank to its correctly fitted brake cable, appears to be fully sorted and ready to roll. Open this bird's massive doors and you'll find a correct White interior that feels like the perfect place to see miles of country blacktop. The car's cushy seats are comfortably firm, and have definitely been re-covered at some point. Below those seats, Jet Black carpet displays no tears or unraveling. On top of that carpet, a minimalist console props a large storage bin behind a familiar Hurst shifter. At the sides of that console, scuff-free door panels feature pristine stainless trim and bright chrome handles. Above those panels, a stain-free headliner is stretched tight from pillar to pillar. In front of the driver, a stylish Formula steering wheel spins a 'red bird' horn button around an engine turned dash, clear Rally gauges and a clean radio delete. And behind the passengers, a factory fresh trunk sandwiches a correct spare tire between a thick mat and old school decklid decal. The sale of this cool old cruiser includes a replica window sticker and paperwork from Pontiac Historic Services. 1977-81 Trans Ams are on a rocket ride of value, and the race is on for correct, documented, low mileage cars. With this Buccaneer Red example, you can have your cake and eat it too. Take it to shows or drive it to work. Either way, you'll get to watch its value climb! [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am SE 16,223 Actual Mile Trans Am Special Edition 6.6L V8 WS6 Year: 1979 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Black Mileage: 16223 Transmission type: 3 Speed Automatic Engine: 6.6 Liter V8 Interior color: Black Vehicle info Every time a Special Edition F2 Trans Am comes up for sale, there are the inevitable musings about Smokey and the Bandit and coming of age during the 1970's. This time around, we'll spare you the nostalgia trip and get to the facts: these cars are awesome to drive, look at and be seen in. Their value and desirability rises every year and if you've ever dreamed of owning one, today is a much better time to buy than tomorrow will be. This particular example is a well-optioned '79 model featuring a 403ci V8, automatic gearbox, factory air conditioning and all the black and gold T/A swagger you could ever ask for. A 16,223 actual mile survivor, this numbers-matching SE is showroom fresh and offers an authentic driving experience to back up those good looks. If you're ready to cruise the boulevard in one of the most recognizable muscle cars ever assembled, take a closer look at this Pontiac. According to PHS documentation, the car shipped with these factory-installed options: C60: Air conditioningK30: Cruise controlC49: Electric rear window defrosterA01: Soft Ray glassTR9: Lamp groupU68: Delco AM/FM stereo radioY84: Special Edition Trans AmWS6: Special Performance packageB18: Custom trim group velour After leaving GM's Norwood assembly line in spring of 1979, the car was trailered roughly 45 minutes north to Ray Fargo Pontiac in North Ridgeville, Ohio. With over $2k in factory options and a total price of $9,191.55, this was showroom material at its finest. Thanks to a lifetime of limited use and meticulous care, the car remains that way in every sense. Appeal starts on the outside where a sleek coat of Starlight Black covers the familiar F-body curves. The paint is claimed to be approximately 60% original and, looking over the car, that seems like a fair estimate. Nothing shows as unnaturally glossy just clean and original. That paintwork is accented by what must be a half-mile worth of gold striping that winds around nearly every predominant body line while a pair of pristine Fisher T-tops fill out the roofline. Of course, Trans Ams, especially the Special Editions, were about details and this one has plenty to admire. Up front, a straight and glossy urethane front bumper houses the familiar quad headlight setup anchored by a centered Pontiac arrow. Down low, the grille openings are accented by gold pinstripe. The hood features a shaker scoop surrounded by a classic "screamin' chicken" decal while "6.6 Litre" decals clue everyone in on just what lives beneath the hood. At either side, functional fender vents pull air through the engine compartment while rear fender flares further the aggressive styling. The gold striping continues along the bottom of the car as well as around the painted sport mirrors while Firebird decals adorn the C-pillars. The back end continues that aggressive look with a Trans Am-branded decklid spoiler that rides over black out taillights that were redesigned to expand across the entire length of back end for 1979. Under the hood, 6.6 Litres of GM power back up the car's angry demeanor. While roughly 1,100 1979 Trans Ams left the factory with a Poncho 400, the vast majority came equipped with the L80 403ci V8 as found in this example. The foundation is an Oldsmobile-sourced block with a 557265-4B casting number and a matching 29N127441 VIN derivative to prove its authenticity. Under the hood scoop, the single-snorkel air cleaner assembly mounts over a single Quadrajet four-barrel carburetor while 4A heads with big 83cc combustion chambers frame a stock intake manifold. While horsepower numbers aren't exactly off the charts, the 315lb-ft of torque does a great job of covering that fact. Up front, the accessory drive turns all the usual suspects including a power steering pump, alternator, and air conditioning compressor as a Harrison radiator pairs with a single engine-driven fan to keep the big V8 cool. The car fires to life with ease and sends spent gases out through an elaborate exhaust system that utilizes a crossover tube to connect the driver side manifold to the passenger side. From there, a single pipe leads to the catalytic converter followed by a Y-pipe with twin resonators and splitter tips. Underneath the car, a road-ready chassis visually confirms the car's limited mileage while hosting a mile-long list of original parts. As a 403 bird, there was only one option for shifting the trusty TH350 3-speed automatic. This one wears a matching 29N127441 partial VIN to let you know it's original to the car. From the transmission, power is sent down the driveshaft to the original 10-bolt rear end equipped with posi-traction and highway-friendly 2.73 gears. Around that rock solid powertrain, a full WS6 suspension, which includes power steering, thick front and rear sway bars, better shocks and stiffer springs, combines with power disc brakes all around to provide quick stops and great handling. At the corners of the car, original SE-exclusive gold Pontiac snowflake wheels are accented by 'gold bird' center caps and a set of 225/75R15 Uniroyal radials, just like the factory installed. Behind the Trans Am's massive black doors, you'll find a well-preserved optional velour interior. The car's seats are firm, crisp and look every bit as rich as their velour name implies. Below those seats, like-new black carpet, which is carefully protected by factory replacement floor mats, displays no fading or unraveling. Between the seats, a silver trimmed console makes rook for the shifter and little else. At the top of the car, a stain-free headliner is stretched tight around the car's signature T-tops. At the sides, pitch black door panels hang pristine pull straps and new chrome door handles below Special Edition exclusive gold badging. In front of the driver, an excellent looking engine turned gold dash houses crystal clear Rally gauges, controls for heat and air conditioning, and the car's original Delco-GM AM/FM stereo behind a gold Formula steering wheel. Behind the cockpit, the trunk space remains showroom fresh, labeled with correct decals, storage bags for the cars T-tops, and a Space Saver spare tire. Documentation for this SE includes historical documents from PHS as well as original items such as the owner's manual, warranty pamphlet, maintenance schedule, and Uniroyal tire information. With a numbers matching drivetrain, an all original interior, and largely original paintwork, finding a more authentic T/A would be difficult especially a Y84 car. Factor in the great options list, the car's 16,223-mile survivor status, and the late-70s swagger that only a Trans Am can offer and you have a truly special cruiser up for grabs. If you're ready to put a premium Poncho in your collection, don't miss the chance to make this 1979 Trans Am SE yours today! [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1974 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Super Duty National Award Winning 1 of 212 Trans Am SD455 4 Speed Year: 1974 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: White Mileage: 15250 Transmission type: 4 Speed Manual Engine: 455 Super Duty V8 Interior color: Blue Vehicle info By now you've probably realized that RK Motors Charlotte employs quite a few diehard Pontiac fans. I mean, after all, RKMC does attract people who bleed 100 octane racing fuel; and Pontiac, at its core, was completely dedicated to selling outrageous metal to serious gearheads. So naturally, we can't help but melt like a hot tire in a staging lane when we find a car like this investment grade Trans Am Super Duty. A concours-restored national award winner, this numbers-matching Poncho is 1 of only 212 1974 Super Duty coupes equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission. And if you're a Firebird enthusiast who's searching for an exclusive F2 that you can literally purchase and haul straight to the show, it's your chance to become king of the muscle car hill! Sold new at Mall Pontiac in Dayton, Ohio, and claiming a mere 15,250 original miles, this restoration-fresh Trans Am is simply spectacular. With a two-owner body that seems to have been fairly straight when the restoration began, it should come as no surprise that panel gaps are excellent and fit feels rock-solid. By the looks of that body's smooth finish, Super Duty expert Steve Schappaugh probably spent weeks blocking and sanding every one of its panel in hopes of forming a laser-straight showpiece. And once those panel's correct coat of Cameo White two-stage was decorated with standard Trans Am call-outs, he definitely accomplished that goal. Today, with unique visual sizzle that's as classy as it is aggressive, this top notch Super Duty is a highly desirable example of a major milestone in Pontiac history! Now, before we dive into specifics, I'll go ahead and breakdown this white hot coupe's VIN and cowl tag. VIN: 2V87X4NXXXXXX2: PontiacV: Trans Am87: Sport coupeX: 455 cubic inch Super Duty V84: 1974 model yearN: Assembled at GM's Norwood, Ohio manufacturing facilityXXXXXX: Production sequence number COWL TAG:74 - 1974 model year2FS87 - 2: Pontiac FS: Firebird 87: Two-door coupeN - Assembled at GM's Norwood, Ohio manufacturing facility187788 - Fisher body unit number581 (ERROR, per PHS) - Deluxe Blue vinyl interiorA51 - Bucket seats11 - Cameo White lower body11 - Cameo White upper body04A - Assembled during the first (A) week of April, 1974WS4 - Trans AmBUE - Blue secondary interior color700001 - Fisher time date code 1974 was a defining year for the Firebird. Sales were brisk and new 'low speed' crash mandates required that the car either be completely redesigned or jump on the bandwagon of hideous and hastily done nose jobs that were creeping into every automaker's showroom. Instead of bowing to cost, Pontiac assembled a talented engineering staff which managed to blend both functionality and style into the well-integrated profile you see here. At the front of that profile, a 'black bar' nose hangs a standard screamin' chicken emblem between clean headlights, clear parking lamps, familiar Pontiac grilles and a road-hugging spoiler. At the top of that nose, a screamin' chicken hood centers an "SD-455" branded shaker in front of pristine greenhouse glass that's framed in bright stainless trim. At the sides of that hood, conservative door handles and small sport mirrors reflect traditional fender vents and correct fender flares. And at the back of the car, a subtle spoiler highlights clean tail lights, chrome exhaust tips and a second 'black bar' bumper. The heart of any muscle car is its engine, and this Poncho's brawny Super Duty moniker is no misnomer. These largely hand-built monsters, which feature significantly reinforced components, share little more than a displacement number with their more common brethren. And this car's highly detailed SD-455, which hangs a correct 490132 casting number and January (A) 09th (09), 1974 (4) casting date behind a correct "W8" engine stamp and matching partial VIN, has been completely rebuilt to its original glory. At the top of the big engine, traditional Trans Am induction funnels fresh wind into a big Rochester carburetor and correct Pontiac intake. That intake sends a high octane air/fuel mixture into unique, high-flow cylinder heads that are equipped with familiar, stamped steel valve covers. And those heads utilize a roster of high performance internals to create rocket-like acceleration. That acceleration is sparked by a traditional points distributor, which sequences fire through fresh Packard TV R Suppression cables. Spent gases are handled by fully restored exhaust manifolds, which roar into correct, true-dual tail pipes. And heat from that combustion is controlled by a leak-free radiator, which services fresh hoses via new tower clamps and a familiar plastic shroud. Aesthetically, this Trans Am's first class engine bay is 100% ready for show. The mighty mill displays a slick coat of correct Pontiac Turquoise all the way from its intake to its oil pan. The car's fenders, firewall and hood are covered in a smooth layer of GM Satin Black. And niceties such as new decals, new stamps, a Delco battery and a fresh Delco Moraine brake booster can be found in all the right places. At the bottom of this slick, second generation Firebird, solid floorpans reflect years of easy living. Behind the mega mill, a correct Borg Warner T10 4-speed, which hangs its typical 1304065903 casting number below a correct partial VIN, sends power to a sturdy 10-bolt rear end. Below that stellar drivetrain, a rebuilt Trans Am suspension, which includes correct power steering, thicker sway bars, better shocks and stiffer springs, combines with standard issue power front disc and rear drum brakes. And at the center of the car, a Gardner true-dual exhaust system barks out a deep, vintage roar. All this road ready hardware rolls on an attractive set of Pontiac Rally II wheels, which spin correct, but weathered, GR70x15 Uniroyal Steel Belted Radials. And everything under this killer classic is restored, clean and ready to roll. When it comes to interior dcor, Pontiac's 70s team was firing on all eight cylinders. While this coupe's insignia may be considered overkill, and its horsepower rating might seem relatively modest compared to earlier muscle cars, there's no disputing the beauty of its design. The rebuilt custom bucket seats are supple, firm, and look every bit as nice and rich as their name implies. Below those seats, like-new carpet is protected by color-keyed floor mats. And between those seats, a molded console props an enclosed storage bin behind a chrome Hurst shifter and correct Delco radio. At the top of the car, a stain-free headliner stretches tightly between fresh shoulder belts. At the sides of the car, hard to find door panels hang pristine chrome handles between chrome window cranks and full armrests. In front of the driver, a fixed steering column spins a black Formula wheel around an engine-turned instrument panel. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk hangs a fresh decklid decal above a full-size spare tire. Not surprisingly, significant honors back up this F2's "award-winning" claim. Here's a list of the car's national accolades:Concours Gold at the 2013 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals (scoring 990 out of 1000 points)Class Winner at the 2013 Trans Am Nationals The sale of this pristine pony car includes:A vintage owner's manualPontiac Historic Services documentationA Pontiac Historic Services window stickerA certificate from its win at the 2013 Muscle Car and Corvette NationalsJudging sheets from its win at the 2013 Muscle Car and Corvette NationalsA flyer documenting its win at the 2013 Trans Am Nationals If your definition of classic Detroit muscle is a highly accurate, beautifully presented, meticulously crafted Pontiac, it's your lucky day! Fully restored and ready to roll, this brassy black and gold 'bird isn't just a bold throwback to simpler times and cooler cars, it's a blue chip commentary on a smart investment for the future. So, if you're into big block American muscle and giant Screamin' Chicken decals, order up some flutes of Coors, throw on the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra's Down on the Farm and toast your next classic! Before we jump head-first into this tin indian's detailed description, I'll go ahead and break down both its VIN and cowl tag: VIN: 2W87Z7N2087602: Pontiac Motor DivisionW: Trans Am87: Sports coupeZ: 400 cubic inch V87: 1977 model yearN: Assembled in Norwood, Ohio208760: Production sequence number COWL TAG:77 - 1977 Model year2FS87 - 2: Pontiac Motor Division, FS: Firebird, 87: coupeN Assembled at GM's Norwood, Ohio manufacturing facility216410 The car's Fisher Body production number19N Deluxe Black vinyl interiorA51 - Bucket seats19L 19U - Starlight Black lower (L) and upper (U) exterior paint05A Assembled during the first week (A) of May (05), 1977WS4 - Trans AmBLK Secondary interior color: Black750293 Fisher Body time and date code. Assembled at GM's famous Norwood manufacturing facility, this pristine Trans Am began a long, accident-free tour of America's backroads in May of 1977. In December of 2013, the car, a solid, all-original survivor, was freshened to road-ready condition. And today, logging virtually no miles since that thorough dust off, it reflects fresh Starlight Black two-stage under Special Edition outlining stripes and an iconic Special Edition hood decal. And at the back of the car, a rounded D80 trunk wing aligns a correct "TRANS AM" call-out above factory-fresh tail lights, a small "PONTIAC" script and familiar side splitter exhaust tips. Pop this Poncho's dramatic hood and you'll find a stout, 400 cubic inch Pontiac V8. Thanks to government-mandated emissions standards, performance had almost been legislated out of existence; and that left the Trans Am suffering a bit of an identity crisis. This 'bird's chrome-trimmed big block combined the largest muscle car engine you could buy with Pontiac's proven "6X" head design to create one of the fastest pony cars on the market. At the top of the smooth mill, a big Rochester carburetor, a modern HEI distributor and thick Belden spark plug wires ride under a familiar Trans Am shaker. Below those components, warm GM Corporate Blue paint coats the entire block, while correct cast iron manifolds funnel spent gases into factory-fresh exhaust pipes. All the hard parts around the motor, from the fresh brake booster and rebuilt alternator to the big radiator and fender plenum air tube, appear to be functional and reliable. The car's clean hood and engine bay are covered in a nice coat of GM Satin Black paint. And, as expected, there's pliable belts, clean hoses and a strong battery. At the bottom of this fully sorted F2, original, Red Oxide floorpans ride a garage-fresh, Satin Black chassis. In the middle of that chassis, a date-correct Borg Warner 4-speed sends power to a familiar GM 10-bolt and mild, highway-friendly gears. Below that stellar drivetrain, a rebuilt WS4 suspension, which includes power steering, thicker sway bars, better shocks and stiffer springs, combines with standard issue power front disc and rear drum brakes to provide quick stops and great handling. At the center of that suspension, a modern exhaust system barks a deep, vintage roar through an X-shaped crossover and a correct, transversely-mounted muffler. At the corners of that exhaust, striking snowflakes spin gold, Special Edition paint between 'red bird' center caps and modern 225/70 BF Goodrich Radial T/As. And all the car's hardware and bushings, from its leak-free fuel tank to its correctly installed emergency brake cable, appear to be lucid and in good shape. Open this Pontiac's massive black doors and you'll find a deluxe vinyl interior that wraps gold, Special Edition trim in a whole lot of old school style! The airy cockpit begins with thick seats that are plush, crisp and look every bit as nice as their rich theme implies. Below those seats, like-new carpet centers a molded console on a familiar Hurst shifter. At the sides of that carpet, hard to find door panels feature bright chrome hardware. Above those panels, a stain-free headliner stretches tightly around the aforementioned T-tops. In front of the driver, an optional tilt steering column spins a gold Formula steering wheel around a gold, engine-turned instrument panel. And behind the passengers, a Space Saver spare hides in a fully restored trunk. Professionally freshened, from its factory Hurst T-tops all the way to its slick gold snowflakes, this fully sorted Trans Am is the perfect investment for any Bandit enthusiast! This is the kind of car you show at the nationals on Saturday, then drive to work on a sunny Monday morning. Are you in the market for a clean, late model F2? NOW is the time to buy a correct, low-mileage showpiece to enjoy for years to come! About this auction & rk motors charlotte Please note that all sales are binding and final.
