In the early 1980’s, it was converted from RHD to LHD and full Vantage specifications for a New York physician, Dr. Paul Damus by UK specialist RSW Ltd. in the UK. It was imported to the USA in the mid-1980’s. Purchased in 1996 with 26,000 miles by Autosport Designs, Inc. it was subsequently sold to one of our clients Mr. J. Stuart in the same year. In 1997 it was converted from Automatic transmission to factory 5-speed ZF manual transmission while still owned by Mr. Stuart. In July 1998 with 36,000 miles this Vantage was purchased by Autosport Designs, Inc., serviced and subsequently sold in October 1998 to a well-known Canadian Aston collector as a gift for his wife. In August 2001 and with 41,000 miles, this Vantage was sent to Autosport Designs for a complete make over. It received an engine rebuild, suspension rebuild with the addition of a Harvey Bailey handling kit, late style hubs were added to fit late style BBS 15x7’ wheels, everything needing service was attended to, including a bare metal respray in its original color. Kept in the Canadian collection until 2009 and used only 6,000 miles during this time period, this V8 was once again traded to Autosport Designs, Inc. toward another Aston in inventory. It was sold almost immediately to last and most recent custodian. During this time, it has been used only 3,000 miles and service with Autosport Designs, Inc. Having just recently returned home once again, this Oscar India V8 is a rare find here in the USA, it remains in exceptional and well-serviced condition throughout and is once again seeking a new home. Offered here is a very early example of the newly redesigned 2/4 MKIII in LHD North American specification. Constructed May 16, 1957 and dispatched eleven days later on the 27th to British Motor Car Distributors Inc., USA, finished in Storm Grey paintwork over Red Connolly Leather upholstery. Records from the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust confirm the original factory specifications, as well as warranty services to mid-1959. Throughout late 1960s and early 1970s, the Aston Martin resided in Columbus, Ohio, where it appears to have been driven and enjoyed quite regularly. In fact, several matchbooks, miscellaneous articles, a preserved newspaper and license plates from 1973 remain with the Aston today - evidence the car was garaged soon after. Presented as it was discovered, this incredibly preserved example displays an entirely original interior cabin, along with numbers-matching mechanicals, original wheels, glass, trim and auxiliaries throughout. The paint color was changed to blue many years ago, while the factory's Storm Grey paint is still present on the dashboard and engine bay. After a careful inspection and tune-up, the car starts and runs after all of these years, the engine sounds good although we do not recommend driving the car on public roads until a full assessment and complete service is done.
