Up for sale is this freshly restored 1964 Austin Healey 3000 BJ8 MKIII. I found this car in a barn just south of Houston TX in December, 2015. The previous owner bought it from a dealer in California back in 2008, but didn’t get what he paid for. He spent a lot of years and a lot of money taking it to a number of unqualified repair shops in an effort to make it drivable. He eventually gave up and the car sat idle for at least a few years. He put the car up for sale and I bought it. I knew right away it would be a complete frame up restoration. As soon as I got it home I started taking it apart. I didn’t stop till it was torn down to the frame. I had to replace the floors, truck floor pan, rockers and some of the metal in the foot well. Then I rebuilt the 3 liter inline 6 cyl. It got all new bearing and rings. I had to replace the cam shaft and lifters. It also got a new timing chain. Of course all the gaskets and seals were replaced, including all freeze plugs. The cyl head got reworked including new style valve steam seals. The SU carbs were rebuilt and everything was painted the proper green. The motor sounds perfect and does not smoke at all. It pulls strong through the whole RPM range. I could tell the trans had been rebuilt before. All I had to do was clean it real good and replace the solenoid for the electric overdrive. All the sycrnos are in good shape. It shifts smoothly though all the gears and OD works perfectly. Next was getting the body and chassis ready to paint. The engine bay was painted black while the chassis and frame were all coated with Por-15, a super heavy duty rust inhibitor that’s been trusted for years. Each panel was sanded down and primed. Then the car was assembled with all the pieces in primer and more bodywork was done. Then each panel was painted and the car was assembled a final time. Everything in the interior was replaced except the seats and the console which had been already recovered. Moss Motors supplied a complete kit with door panels and new carpet including the trunk carpet. Also brand new chrome wire wheels and new knock offs were added. The car runs and drives perfect and everything works- wipers, light, turn signals, OD. It all works as it should. This car was built to be a driver, not a trailer queen. With that in mind some modifications have been made. It has a modern charging system so the generator and regulator have been replaced by an alternator. It has an aftermarket Pertronics distributor so the points have been eliminated. It also has the latest radio with bluetooth. It now also has a 12 volt negative ground electrical system. The restoration took almost a year and was documented along the way. I have photos of the entire project. I also have all receipts; witch total about 20K in parts alone. It’s been driven just under 3oo miles since it was completed in Dec 2016. The car needs nothing to be complete. There are few minor blemishes in the paint that no one will ever notice. The top has two very small holes at the top back corners. I understand it can be repaired and I’m working on getting that done.

1960 Austin Healey 3000 Mark 1 (BTN7) Almost all original with low mileage, 63,469 miles. 6 cylinder with overdrive, 4 speed side shifter, clutch, all matching numbers. Stored in a garage in California for 30 years. I bought the car 3 years ago and turned it into a daily driver. All the work has been done by British European motors in Northern California. Everything works including overdrive, horn, turn signals, gages, and all mechanical. It has good compression in all cylinders. There is rust underneath car in a few places. The car needs top cloth and I have the top from and windows. I have all receipts of work done and of purchase. Originally the car was red. Now it is British white. This was a perfect car to restore. I am asking $33,000 for the car.

Always garaged and maintained to the highest standards, its enthusiast owner ensured that its mechanicals were in top form. It is in excellent condition for road use and has had only two owners.Super-rare right hand drive... can't get more original than this. The original engine starts easily, idles consistently and pulls with force through each of the transmission's gears. Compression is strong and even, the overdrive is fully operable, the car drives and brakes straight and true and shows no indication of overheating. Powered by a 2,912cc inline six cylinder engine with twin SU 2” downdraft HD8 carburetors which produce 150hp. The steel ladder frame was stiffened by added an “X brace” and braking was improved with servo-assisted disc brakes. A four-speed syncro-mesh manual transmission with overdrive provides crisp and direct gear changes. While coil springs and hydraulic mono-tube shocks make up the front suspension and leaf-springs mounted to a live axle make of the rear suspension. The finish is in excellent condition, the chrome, glass, and rubber are all in good shape and the chassis and undercarriage are in excellent condition, entirely straight, solid, and free of corrosion. The interior is in excellent condition and mirrors the condition of the exterior. Blue leather bucket with the small rear 2+2 seating provides the opportunity for this Austin-Healey to carry two more passengers; however since space is at a premium the rear seat has the ability to fold flat for more cargo room. A full-width walnut-veneer dashboard warms up the interior and provided excellent contrasts to the clear and direct Smith's black and white gauges. The factory optional heater controls are in their rightful position. In the boot a full-size spare is located, along with a knock-off hammer, roadside jack, and the original factory tool kit! A newer dark blue soft top looks great and fits snugly and securely, providing excellent visibility through the clear plastic rear window. Chrome wire knock-off wheels contribute to the classic appearance. Roll-up windows enhance foul weather driving. These Big Healeys are incredibly fun and iconic British sports cars that, when equipped with overdrive and fully sorted as this car is, are wonderful high-speed touring machines. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a wonderful appreciating classic with all the right things going for it. These agile little roadsters hark back to an era of rally and road racing dominated by British roadsters. It's easy to understand why, once driving, there are few cars that give the driver such direct feedback and enjoyable experience. With “Big Healey” auction results routinely fetching sales prices still nearing six figures, they represent a unique segment of the classic car market: highly collectible with good appreciation potential, but with strong weekend driver examples still priced somewhat accessibly so that you can actually enjoy driving them. And that's a good thing, because they are far too fun from behind the wheel to relegate them to garages or trailers on the way to shows. This car is no exception, undoubtedly providing its next owner with countless years of enjoyable driving experiences in an asset that will only increase in value over time. Parts are readily available and inexpensive and the club support is terrific. All the experts consider a proper Big Healey tremendous value in today’s market offering the driving experience these cars are famous for.Shipping and handlingThis vehicle is available for local pick-up. Austin Healey Sprite MKII 1961 or 1962 whole or partsNice body. Someone already started restoration before I bought it. There are a ton more photos below.some new parts (mostly suspension, steering, and brakes), two engines, two transmissions, two sets of gauges, two sets of windshield trim, to pairs of headlights, two pairs of taillights, etc.grille, seats, and windshield glass are missingI haven't had either engine running, but both of them turn freely. Will sell everything for $1300 or part out if I don't get any takers for the whole car.I do not have a title for the car. Thanks for looking.BTW, Austin Healey Sprite MKII is the same thing as the MG Midget MKI.The Midget differed from the Sprite only in its grille design, badging, color options and having both leather seats and more external chrome trim as standard to justify its higher purchase price.

Austin Healey is one of the big names in British motoring history with Donald Healey and his beloved Big Healey’s winning over enthusiast across the world. It all started with the spirited 100-4’s and evolved into the much more powerful 3000 with three variants put into production ranging from the MKI to the MKIII but what we are concerned with is the middle model, the MKII. It appears quite similar to its predecessor, the MKI, but is equipped with several refinements such as three SU HS4 carburetors, different valve springs, and upgraded camshaft. They were offered in one of two platforms, a two seater roadster or 4-place open format. To this day, these concise, nimble roadsters are adored by enthusiasts for their performance, classic look, and nostalgia. Being that these cars are so pleasantly usable, they were regularly enjoyed by their owners over the years resulting in seeking out good examples increasingly more difficult but not impossible. This brings us to the example on offer. Now available out of the LBI stable is a matching numbers, 1962 Austin Healey 3000 MKII chassis number HBT7L18337, engine number 29ERUH4545. This example is coming out of over a decade of ownership here in Pennsylvania and is now awaiting its next care taker. Right before the turn of the century, the previous owner had initiated a nut and bolt restoration, executed by the marque specialist at Fourintune of Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Unfortunately, the early history of this car is not known but more information will be known upon receiving the heritage certificate, which is on order. The initial impression this car gives off is a consistent, well cared for and preserved restoration, boasting quality that has stood the test of time. The old English white paint has aged well, still possessing a glossy shine and depth. In terms of flaws, there are only a couple noteworthy items to include a small bubble on the passenger side door directly to the left of the door handle and a minute crack by the bonnet grill. Otherwise the paint shows well and could be considered show worthy and without needs. The rubber components are all intact, supple, and seal properly. The weather gear is in presentable condition but it should be noted that the plexiglass windows do have some moderate scratches and the rear plastic window has developed some clouding. An inspection of the panel fitment will conclude even gaps and seams throughout which can be attested to the quality of the restoration. The chrome items including the bumpers, grill, bezels, windshield frame, and trim pieces are in good shape, absent of any significant flawing but some scattered subtle pitting can be seen under close inspection on various items. The wire wheels and tires are presentable however, the paint on the wheels has begun to fail in a few small areas. They could be left in their driving quality state or simply resprayed to remedy the issue. The tires are the period correct style for concours; they have however started cracking due to age. The glass components on the car are all free of any deep scratches, chips, or abnormalities showing, as a restored example should. Pull open the door and the door jams appear clean and consistent with the rest of the car. The red interior shows beautifully with the front and rear seats complimented by the white piping. Given that this is an older restoration, one will note a few items have developed some patina. The side bolsters on the driver’s side seat, a common area of flawing, have slightly worn but are still very much presentable. Also, under the right lighting one can see the red vinyl on the front seats has begun to fade slightly with the rear seats slightly darker as they have most likely never been sat in. The dash top and fascia is without flaws, housing the rebuilt gauges with crisp lenses and fully operational. The correct steering wheel is present versus the aftermarket Moto Lita steering wheels Healey owners commonly replace it with, allowing for a more authentic driving experience. The shifter and boot have held up well having incurred no damage. A peak down at the carpet and floor mats will show they are free of any stains, tears, or inconsistencies. However, after 16 years of going to shows and letting the car sit in the sun the carpets do show some fading in areas. It could easily be left but it perhaps the most obvious flaw. Moving forward with our inspection to the engine bay, one will see a properly maintained engine that is accompanied by the correct hoses, clamps, markings, and all accessories. All components appear tidy with any servicing clearly completed by very capable hands. The rear trunk possesses many of the same qualities with the liner showings as new and the spare wheel, tool kit, and jack all present. An inspection of the underside shows no obvious issues as it is very presentable for an older restoration. There is some typical aging from use but nothing unexpected and completely in line with the rest of the car. The correct areas were painted the color of the body, suspension components all tended to, and any major issues were corrected during the restoration, however not noticeable today. In combination with the cosmetics, this particular example is also in superb mechanical condition. The previous owner did drive this car quite a bit but also ensured his use of the car was accompanied by appropriate maintenance. Under his care a variety of items were tended to including new wheel cylinders, fuel pump, battery, miscellaneous hoses, choke cable assembly, clutch service, and the list goes on. There are thousands in receipts from local Austin Healey Specialists servicing the car throughout the years. Needless to say, this car is very much a turn-key example that you can simply get in and enjoy. It does not take much to start and once up to temperature performs without issue. The clutch operates as it should, the transmission going in and out of gear without any hassle. Put down your right foot and the engine springs to life, pulling well, and making that snappy Healey exhaust note. The steering feels tight and precise with no notable play. The brakes feel firm, functioning without issue, stopping straight and true when applied. This example is equipped with overdrive which is fully operable, making highway driving much more pleasant for the driver and the car. The car feels settled in, sorted, and is a nicely aged restoration that has a solid feeling of reliability. The Austin Healey we are left with today is a well-rounded and consistent example throughout all areas of the car. The restoration completed by the professionals at Fourintune set a great base for this Healey to provide many more years of enjoyment. This will not only be a fantastic car to take on tours, rallies, and show but also a feasible investment. This example is offered with the original owners manual, tools, spare, weather gear, and BMIHT Certificate.

Factory overdrive, dry Texas car, previous long term ownership, show quality repaint, new tires, polished stainless steel exhaust, roll-up windows, new top, over $38,000 invested recently, copious maintenance records.THE VEHICLE OFFEREDThis Big Healey is a great example of one of the 5,450 MkII BJ7 models produced. Fitted with the desirable factory overdrive, it is a very solid, dry Texas car recently out of the collection of its knowledgable long-term owner who not only loved this car but also kept copious maintenance records documenting his fastidious care over the years. Its body is incredible, with original factory paint in the engine compartment, its chassis and undercarriage, and the car benefits from a fresh, proper rebuild of its original engine, transmission, factory overdrive unit, and the complete fuel, braking and clutch systems by the appropriate specialists. The car has also recently benefited from a show-quality repaint in its original and stunning Colorado Red color, new tires on restored correct painted wire wheels, a polished stainless steel Tourist Trophy exhaust and full service; the vehicle performs as good as it looks. In total there are over $40,000 of receipts for recent work, along with a comprehensive file from its previous owner. It is a car that has been made to drive not be rolled in and out of trailers. These Big Healeys are incredibly fun and iconic British sports cars that, when equipped with overdrive and fully sorted as this car is, are wonderful high-speed touring machines. These later BJ7 models have tolerable weather protection with roll up windows and snug fitting tops, confidence inspiring disc brakes and very capable handling along with an exhaust note to die for. Parts are readily available and inexpensive, and the club support is phenomenal. All things considered there is no question why all the experts consider a proper Big Healey to offer tremendous value in today’s market. Beyond that, this car in particular is an outstanding example which also offers the benefit of a recent, no-expense spared thorough restoration and is in truly turn-key condition. It offers the driving experience these cars are famous for, with none of the deferred maintenance problems that arise when they don’t come from good, caring homes.HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE Introduced in March 1961 as the BN7 Mark II (2-seat) and BT7 Mark II (2+2), the 3000 Mark II series came with three SU HS4 carburettors and an improved camshaft. However, the triple SUs proved difficult to balance and were replaced with two SU HS6 upon the introduction of the BJ7 (2+2) model in January 1962. With its debut the BN7 Mark II was discontinued in March 1962, and the BT7 Mark II in June 1962.Other changes included a vertical barred front grille, wind-up windows instead of side curtains, an improved hood, and a wrap-around windscreen. Optional extras were similar to the Mark I, although the factory hardtop option was dropped with the BJ7’s introduction. From August 1961 a brake servo was also available as an optional extra, which greatly improved braking performance. The BJ7 was discontinued in October 1963 with the introduction of the 3000 Mark III.A 3000 Mark II BT7 with hardtop and overdrive tested by the British magazine The Motor in 1961 had a top speed of 112.9 mph (181.7 km/h) and could accelerate from 0–60 mph (97 km/h) in 10.9 seconds.A total of 11,564 were made: 355 BN7 Mark II, 5,096 BT7 Mark II, and 6,113 BJ7. A Swiss motoring publication (Auto-Jahr) had had a competition to redesign the 3000 as a closed roof grand tourer, and the winning design was executed by Pininfarina just in time for the October 1962 Earls Court Show.Click here for additional photographs.Click here for a walk around video.Call Max. 208-720-8854Visit www.modernclassicautos.com for dealer information. For serious buyers, I invite you to come see the car and reconcile on your own, as it's virtually impossible to accurately/objectively represent cars of this age. Please feel free to inspect the car before you purchase -- reach out to me and we can exchange contacts. I'm not a Healey expert, but own MGs, Triumphs, Datsuns and Lotuses. I believe this car could be used as a great platform for a top-flight restoration or driven as is for years with just a little TLC. Car will be sold with transferable clear NJ title. I can help w/ shipping in that I can be here when your shipper arrives. No warranty of any type. Paypal fine if we split the fee. Thanks much for looking and good luck.
