This Austin Healey 3000, BN7 was the subject of a complete ground up, nut and bolt restoration which was completed June, 13, 2014. This complete ground up, nut and bolt, body off, bare metal restoration was performed, by Healey Marque specialist, Knut Holzer of British Motor Corporation. Every aspect of this cars was restored, tested, and well sorted. The car has perfect lines and has received numerous hidden upgrades to make it a superior car for driving, weekend touring or vintage car events. All of our cars are well sorted and tested. These are some of the finest Austin Healey's available anywhere. All cars are no excuses, investment grade, Heritage Certified, offerings. OUR PROCESS:Body: ExcellentBody was completely disassembled, all steel panels sand blasted or stripped to bare metal, alloy shrouds removed and stripped, any rust or deteriorating metal removed and correct replacement panels installed. Any patches installed were properly fitted using a butt welding method. Unlike many restorers, we do not overlap weld our patches unless the panel was installed in a overlap method by the original manufacturer. Body refit with excellent fitment. The result is perfect finish, gaps and presentation. Chassis: ExcellentChassis are stripped to bare metal using copper slag blasting. This method of paint removal insures the complete removal of rust. The chassis are fit into our chassis jig, measured and adjusted back to factory dimensions. All sills and floors panels were replaced with proper replacement panels imported from Austin Healey Spares of England. The chassis is measured again after welding, and body refit to insure nothing shifted during the welding process. Complete bare chassis is cosmetically adjusted and prepared for coating to insure a better than new finished product. The body is removed and re-fit to the chassis no less than six times during chassis restoration to insure proper fitment. This the only way to insure high quality fit and perfect panel gaps! Paint: ExcellentChassis and body are painted using a high quality urethane base coat clear coat product. The urethane base coat paint is produced by Herbert Standox of Germany. This product is know for exceptional consistency and perfect color match to the original Healey color pallet. We have the original color chips for Healey, and this color is a perfect match. It is also known as one of the most expensive automotive paints available today. The high solid urethane clear coat is produced by PPG and is one of the premier show grade finishes available today. The entire chassis, exterior body, interior body and engine bay have received the same high quality base coat clear coat finish. The exterior finish is hand blocked and polished to a glass like finish. The car is straight from all angles. The reflection when looking at all panels are perfect and glass like. Engine: ExcellentA complete ground up restoration of a car should include the ground up restoration of the engine. Many old engines that sit without being run for years have a chemical reaction between the Piston and the Piston Rings. The Piston Rings bond solid to the Piston. The typical big Healey has 30 rings in the engine. Piston rings are a very important part of your compression. Their job is to contract and expand during each stroke of the piston. If one piston ring is bonded to one piston in your engine it will no longer expand or contract causing a catastrophic problem soon after the engine is started. The bonded piston will either break off inside your cylinder, not expand and allow the piston to move side to side in the cylinder or simply grind a groove which will destroy the compression in the cylinder effected. It may take a few hundred miles or a thousand miles to destroy the inside of your cylinder, but it will destroy your engine eventually. We perform betwen 20 and 30 ground up restorations per year, and this issue is present on 85% of all old motors we restore for Healey's and Jaguar's. QUALITY! All of our Engines are rebuilt to high standards, with slight hidden modifications to fast BJ8 street standards. The engine are acid washed, line bored, balanced, decked, planed, polished and ported. All engines are Dyno tested and run in, a dyno sheet is supplied with the car, this engine is documented at 179.8 HP. Our engine's runs smoother than a stock Healey motor and shows no sign of performance upgrades at idel. Engine has been fitted with new pistons, reground crankshaft, new bearings thruout, no lead head conversion, hot street cam upgrade, hot cam lifter modifications, new high capacity oil pump, new timing gear, chain and tensioners, reconditioned Hamonic balancer, new balanced lightened flywheel, new water pump, new oil filter assy, rebuilt and recurved distributor. Hydraulics: ExcellentHydraulics have been rebuilt or replaced thruout the car. New Master cylinders, new slave cylinder, new hydraulic lines thruout, new wheel cylinders rear, new reservior, rebuilt front calipers. Electrical system: ExcellentNew correct Austin Healey Spares replacement wiring harnesses thru-out. Rebuilt generator, rebuilt Lucas starter or new high torque starter, new voltage regulator, new Lucas shut off switch. New lights thruout. New Group 27 battery. Cooling: ExcellentRecored correct radiator with a upgraded double density core. This increases coolant capacity while looking stock. Upgraded to period correct BMC tropical 6 bladed fan. New hoses thruout, new water pump, new radiator cap, new overflow hose. Carbs: ExcellentProfessionally rebuilt and polished SU carbs are installed and performance jetted and tuned. Fuel system: ExcellentNew fuel tank, new fuel lines, new SU fuel pump, new sending unit. Interior: ExcellentInterior will be produced for you by Automat of Long Island, NY. The interior will be produced using high quality European leather. The entire seat upholstery, door panel covering, dash top covering, control panel covering, arm rest covering and piping will be produced to original patterns. The carpeting is a high quality automotive carpet which matches the original. The seat bases, foams and seat belts are also new. The interior has been insulated using Koolmat underneath the carpeting. Reconditioned dash to match the interior. Gauges: ExcellentGauges are rebuilt by Nisonger gauge. Wheels and tires: ExcellentWheels are produced by Dayton wire wheel in the 72 spoke format. Tires are the Vedrestein HR 185 15. Wheels and tires were mounted and trued by Henricks wire wheel. The wheels are smooth to and beyond 100MPH. Top and Side curtains: ExcellentTop and tonneau are produced of either the original Everflex or high grade Mohair product imported from the UK, depending on your specifications. Side curtains are new, imported from Austin Healey Spares of England. Suspension: ExcellentSuspensions completely rebuilt with new bushings, new steering shaft and worm gear, new King pins, new tie rod ends. Rear springs were replaced with correct replacement, front spring replaced with old stock coils. All shocks were rebuilt by Worldwide in Wisconsin. Front rotors replaced and balanced, rear drums balanced. New wheel bearings front and rear. New axel seals rear. Rear end reconditioned. Glass: ExcellentNew front windscreen. New rubber thruout. Trunk: ExcellentNew trunk finish kit. New spare tire tie down. Chrome: ExcellentChrome has been replaced or re-plated using a triple plate chroming system. Exhaust system: ExcellentExhaust system was replaced at time of restoration. We opted for the very popular upgraded stainless steel performance exhaust used on virtually all of our restorations. It is a imported product produced by AH Spares of the UK. It is a bit more throaty than the standard exhausts and reduces back pressure to the engine. The original style exhaust could be swapped back at no additional charge, but once you hear this exhaust, its unlikely.

Factory overdrive, dry Texas car, previous long term ownership, show quality repaint, new tires, polished stainless steel exhaust, roll-up windows, new top, over $38,000 invested recently, copious maintenance records.THE VEHICLE OFFEREDThis Big Healey is a great example of one of the 5,450 MkII BJ7 models produced. Fitted with the desirable factory overdrive, it is a very solid, dry Texas car recently out of the collection of its knowledgable long-term owner who not only loved this car but also kept copious maintenance records documenting his fastidious care over the years. Its body is incredible, with original factory paint in the engine compartment, its chassis and undercarriage, and the car benefits from a fresh, proper rebuild of its original engine, transmission, factory overdrive unit, and the complete fuel, braking and clutch systems by the appropriate specialists. The car has also recently benefited from a show-quality repaint in its original and stunning Colorado Red color, new tires on restored correct painted wire wheels, a polished stainless steel Tourist Trophy exhaust and full service; the vehicle performs as good as it looks. In total there are over $40,000 of receipts for recent work, along with a comprehensive file from its previous owner. It is a car that has been made to drive not be rolled in and out of trailers. These Big Healeys are incredibly fun and iconic British sports cars that, when equipped with overdrive and fully sorted as this car is, are wonderful high-speed touring machines. These later BJ7 models have tolerable weather protection with roll up windows and snug fitting tops, confidence inspiring disc brakes and very capable handling along with an exhaust note to die for. Parts are readily available and inexpensive, and the club support is phenomenal. All things considered there is no question why all the experts consider a proper Big Healey to offer tremendous value in today’s market. Beyond that, this car in particular is an outstanding example which also offers the benefit of a recent, no-expense spared thorough restoration and is in truly turn-key condition. It offers the driving experience these cars are famous for, with none of the deferred maintenance problems that arise when they don’t come from good, caring homes.HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE Introduced in March 1961 as the BN7 Mark II (2-seat) and BT7 Mark II (2+2), the 3000 Mark II series came with three SU HS4 carburettors and an improved camshaft. However, the triple SUs proved difficult to balance and were replaced with two SU HS6 upon the introduction of the BJ7 (2+2) model in January 1962. With its debut the BN7 Mark II was discontinued in March 1962, and the BT7 Mark II in June 1962.Other changes included a vertical barred front grille, wind-up windows instead of side curtains, an improved hood, and a wrap-around windscreen. Optional extras were similar to the Mark I, although the factory hardtop option was dropped with the BJ7’s introduction. From August 1961 a brake servo was also available as an optional extra, which greatly improved braking performance. The BJ7 was discontinued in October 1963 with the introduction of the 3000 Mark III.A 3000 Mark II BT7 with hardtop and overdrive tested by the British magazine The Motor in 1961 had a top speed of 112.9 mph (181.7 km/h) and could accelerate from 0–60 mph (97 km/h) in 10.9 seconds.A total of 11,564 were made: 355 BN7 Mark II, 5,096 BT7 Mark II, and 6,113 BJ7. A Swiss motoring publication (Auto-Jahr) had had a competition to redesign the 3000 as a closed roof grand tourer, and the winning design was executed by Pininfarina just in time for the October 1962 Earls Court Show.Click here for additional photographs.Click here for a walk around video.Call Max. 208-720-8854Visit www.modernclassicautos.com for dealer information. 1960 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 MK1 BN-7 TWO-SEATER ROADSTER. OLDE ENGLISH WHITE WITH RED LEATHER TRIM. BLACK TOP. 60-SPOKE STAINLESS WIRE WHEELS. 4-SPEED WITH OVERDRIVE GEARBOX. HEATER. FIXED STEERING WHEEL. "KURT TANNER RESTORATIONS" NUT AND BOLT ROTISSERIE RESTORATION TO GOLD CONCOURS STANDARDS. Presented for sale here on Ebay, KURT TANNER RESTORATIONS offers a freshly and exquisitely restored Austin Healey 3000 to the highest Concours standards, just completed this month in August, 2014. This car represents the finest 6-cylinder Big Healey currently on the market today. This model is the rare and desirable BN-7 Two-Seater, with the robust and torquey 3 liter engine, 4-speed OD sideshift transmission, and front disc brakes: the epitome of the true 6-cylinder sports roadster. There were only 2825 units of this model produced for the world. It was purchased early last year from the Oxnard, California family of it's believed second owner, who purchased the car in 1973. It was driven on the road, at that time, for approximately 3 years as regular transport. In 1976 the owner decided to perform a ground-up, nut-and-bolt restoration on the car and it was subsequently disassembled. Life became busy with raising two children while the car and it's parts were stored in a two car garage until his passing in 2011. It was off the road for a total of 38 years waiting to be restored...As one can imagine, this car was extremely well preserved, highly original, and was the perfect candidate for a nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration to the highest standards. The car and body panels were taken down to the bare superstructure and stripped/shot blasted to bare metal. The superstructure was seam-sealed by brush as original, epoxy-primed, painted in the correct hue of Olde English White, and the body panels were carefully re-fitted to factory specification gaps. Full show-quality body and paintwork was then carried out and finished in an Axzo-Nobel basecoat/clearcoat system with exceptional results. Meanwhile, all the mechanical ancillaries were restored. The matching-numbers engine was completely rebuilt with new machining and quality parts, and is fitted with an upgraded BJ-8 grind camshaft. The carburetor set was rebuilt along with the starter, generator, distributor, etc. A new 3-piece clutch with balanced flywheel assembly was fitted. The braking system and fuel system were completely renewed, with new steel lines. The suspension, front and rear, were completely rebuilt with new kingpins, shocks, bushes, road springs, etc. The gearbox, rear axle, and steering box were cleaned, opened up, inspected for wear, found to be in perfect condition, re-sealed, and painted. Every other mechanical item has been rebuilt or replaced with new items. (4) New 15-inch 60-spoke stainless wire wheels were fitted/balanced with new radial tires and installed on the car with new knock-offs. A new mild steel exhaust system, correctly finished in high heat black was fitted with new clamps and hangers. The original radiator was recored and installed with a factory correct upgraded 6-blade "desert fan".The car received a completely renewed interior including retrimmed leather seats with a new foam kit, new panel kit, new rubber kit with door seals, new carpet and armacord rear shelf kit, new trunk kit, new Everflex top with powder-coated top bows, restored original sidescreen set in a new bag, and a new windscreen. Most of the original chrome was replated, with the rest being purchased new. The original cockpit railings were stripped, carefully polished, and correctly re-anodized in their original silver-gray finish. A new wiring harness was installed along with new or restored electrical equipment. New aluminum door shutface sets were installed. All of the original hardware (nuts, bolts, washers, screws, fittings, etc.) were cadmium plated. The car's finishes/stickers/decals are in accordance with Austin Healey club Gold Concours standards, and the finest materials have been used. Overall, this car spectacular and desirable Austin Healey 3000 MK1 BN-7 represents a seldom available offering direct from premier marque specialist KURT TANNER RESTORATIONS. It is a fresh, nut-and-bolt, rotisserie Concours quality car that has completed test miles only and is ready for immediate use and enjoyment. It has an enviable two-owner California history from new and still retains its pair of blue/yellow license plates from the early 1970's. It is sold with a full photo album documenting the restoration, sidescreen set with bag, knock-off hammer, and reprint of the owner's manual, and black rubber floormats. It is located in Southern California and can be shown by appointment. The car is sold with a clear California title. In the recent run up of Austin Healey values at auction and the current restoration costs to perform this level of a restoration, this car represents very good value at $92,500 / offers. In the recent run up of Austin Healey values at auction and the current restoration costs to perform this level of a restoration, this car represents very good value at $94,500.
