Definitely gets a lot of attention & questions at the cars and coffee. The Mini is powered by it’s 1000cc engine, It moves pretty quick! It has a 4 speed manual transmission. Engine Bay is well detailed. Has a nice exhaust that sounds really nice. See the video. When you are driving in this 1983 Mini there is a certain sense of nostalgia that you cannot help but notice. The Wooden dash and classic looking gauges makes you feel like it is an authentic classic car, but then you get on the throttle and feel the immediate response of a sports car. It has always been garage kept and well taken care. All the exterior chromes are in great shape. The Interior is splendid and contrast well to the exterior grey paint with black rally stripes. This is a long time California/Arizona car that is very solid and even has an old California "pink slip" dating back to 1982. This Mini is very original, wearing an older repaint and a very nice interior. This Mk.I Mini is an above average driver quality car ready to enjoy. Mini : Cooper 1967 classic mini cooper mk 1 morris like austin

This is a genuine Mk1 1967 Morris Mini Cooper 998cc (not an S). During production Mini's were built under two names: Morris or Austin, both essentially the same car although the Morris seems to be a little rarer. This particular car is a right hand drive UK import brought over decades ago by a US service member, it ended up in the San Francisco Bay Area which is where I found it. Since then it has undergone a complete "frame off" restoration over the past year. Being an original MK1 it was a very complete car, but suffered from the wet British weather. The car was completely stripped, blasted and epoxy primed, panels that were too rusted were repaired with metalwork or replaced with new ones. The sub-frames and running gear were also blasted and powder coated. The car was then repainted in original Almond Green with and Old English White roof. Although this Mini Cooper is not an 'S' model, it does have some nice period features, including: twin tanks with the right hand tank being a "Serck" brand dealer option from the 60's, 4.5' Cooper S vented wheels, and a 12 row oil cooler. It also still sits on its original hydrolastic suspension which works great, although with the added upgrades of competition bump stops and front Spax shocks, just like the works rally cars did. The Engine is the original Cooper 998 unit with twin SU carbs, it was refreshed and given all new seals and gaskets and runs great with no leaks. The interior is original green and grey and in nice condition, and has brand new Newton Commercial carpet. All the gauges and switches work fine, with the addition of a period Smiths tachometer. Some minor issues: Some of the chrome has dings and pitting, i think it adds to the character but would be easy to replace. The interior door cards are original but have some stains and small tears, again an easy replacement if so desired. Mk1 Coopers are becoming scarce and most have been snatched up and taken to Japan, the ones that show up for sale are often missing parts or not true MK1's. This is a rare chance to grab a very complete MK1 Mini Cooper while prices are low but continue to rise. Feel free to ask questions or arrange a local visit. With three victories at Monte Carlo (back to back in 1964 and 1965), these pint size racers were formidable competitors. Their lightweight and decent power combined with great reliability made them a popular choice among drivers. Finding original Cooper Works cars is nearly impossible and even original Cooper S examples are becoming scarcer. To not only have an original Cooper S with loads of rare early Works components, but also history at the Monte Carlo Historique is a ticket to all kinds of exciting world wide exclusive vintage auto events. Although we do not know the specifics of this Mini’s early life, we have a suspicion that it might have been involved in rally racing back in the 60’s. There are too many unique components that were usually reserved for Works or competition cars. Furthermore, many of the early Cooper S features like original upholstery/carpet, 120mph speedo, chrome trim, wheels (off car), badging, etc. are mostly unrestored. It has not been driven in any other events since then and has mostly been a showpiece. It was imported to the U.S. in 2009 when the current owners purchased it. The owners are avid vintage vehicle collectors specializing in historical racecars. The have been participating for decades at the Monterey Historics as well as other exclusive vintage race events around the country. Besides using this Mini around the pits, their ultimate goal was to take the car back to Europe and continue racing in events there. Since this Mini had all the right papers and history, they thought it would be perfect. Their first goal was to make sure everything mechanically was in tiptop shape. So, they hired one of the best – Huffaker Engineering, Inc. of Sonoma, CA. Joe Huffaker was a 6+ time SCCA National Champion in a vintage Mini Cooper and is known for building not only the fastest vintage racers, but also some of the most reliable. He is not inexpensive, but he is one of the best. In total, over $15,000 was invested less than 100 miles ago rebuilding the drivetrain and other repairs. The paint and body are in very good condition with minor signs of use. The trim and Plexiglas appear to be original or excellent older parts. The real Minilites wear Yokohama A008 tires with near full tread. The interior is in equally nice condition with what appears to be mostly original upholstery, carpet, and headliner. All the gauges function properly and light up at night (including the Haldas and stopwatches). Even the interior dome light works. This is a functional vintage rally Mini Cooper that is turnkey and ready for any vintage event. Of course, the best part is the way it drives. It feels extremely light and nimble. The combination of increased power and custom gearbox provides excellent power with nice low-end torque. The steering is extremely precise and shifting is very smooth and easy. The pedal position is perfect for easy heal/toe work. The brakes are not only responsive, but have excellent pedal feel. In total, this set up inspires driving confidence. Rarely do we see this high level prepared vintage FAI competition rally cars available in North America. It is 100 % all there; but the motor and gearbox are out of the car and the wood trim has been removed. The wood is in decent shape and will need refinishing. It is right-hand drive. I also have a 1961 Austin Mini Sedan tub for sale. This tub is 100% stripped; and it will also need floor work and panel work. It does have some pretty big flares on it. You are looking at a 1972 Austin Mini 1000 with 4-speed manual transmission and the original 998cc 4-cylinder engine. It has drum brakes on all 4 wheels and 10" tires. The good: This car has been a short-trip daily-driver (summer only. No salt) and runs well for it's age (once it warms up). It get lots of attention everywhere it goes.In 2007, the car underwent a complete subframe-off restoration which included new floors, new paint and a suspension overhaul.The engine was also rebuilt and modified to accept unleaded gas and a later-style pushrod transmission was installed.New carpet was also installed. We purchased the car in mid 2010 and changed a few things including the addition of chrome eye-brows, mirrors, reverse lights and other trim pieces. We also added a new yellow-top battery, ignition cap, rotor coil and wires and converted the points to electronic ignition. We added an oak dash, tachometer and replaced all the seat belts with safer modern replacements, added airhorns, new trunk carpeting and a straight-through exhaust (the car is a bit loud) as well as a reproduction luggage roof rack.The car does not have a stereo. There is a small amp in the glove box with a MP3 input. This plays through 4 speakers. Two tweeters under the dash and two 6" speakers under the rear seat. In 2012, a new clutch was professionally installed including a new clutch slave cylinder. The cooling system and electrical system was upgraded by the installation of new water pump, silicone hoses and high performance aluminum radiator. The stock alternator was also upgraded to a high-output model.New brakes were installed last year including new shoes, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, hardware and wheel bearings.The seats have been replaced with newer ones from a 1976 model.This year we installed a new carburetor. The bad:The body is about 7/10. It's in great shape with no real rust to speak of however there are a couple spots where the paint is cracking. There is one area in front of the right rear wheel and another above and to the left of the hood. (see pics).The shifter is sloppy but works. The speedometer recently stopped working HOWEVER a replacement speedometer is included in the sale. The one in the car currently shows 2500km but that's not accurate. The replacement speedometer shows 19000 miles on the odometer. The new owner will have to install. Also, I've just noticed the brake lights don't always work. I haven't looked into it but I'm sure it's an easy fix. I try to honestly disclose as much info as I can and urge all bidders to ask any questions they may have. Remember, this is a 42 year old British car. These cars are quirky so don't think you're going to be driving a new Honda. My little Mini Cooper didn't sell at auction so I thought I'd re-list with a fixed price/bet offer option. I'd love to keep her but I have 2 other car projects and a motorcycle project that need to be finished so the Mini has to go. This little Mini Cooper has been an absolute joy to drive (She handles like a go cart!) and has been the most “popular” car I’ve owned! I’ve got too many other projects so I’m afraid it has to go. It’s a 1975 MKIII Austin Mini Cooper 998cc in red. It originally came with some big ugly black bumpers that I thought ruined the looks and lines of the whole car. I removed the bumpers and installed new chrome bumpers in their place. I replaced the big ugly front turn signals that were hanging from the bumper with new ones located in the stock position on the front pan. I also replaced a rear taillight lens with a new one – the old lens was just too worn out looking. I didn’t like the old gas tank filler gasket around the cap so I replaced that with a new one as well. While working on the exterior of the car I cut out any rust and welded in new sheet metal – there were only 3 spots I had to do this. I was trying to build a “rally replica” and towards that end I installed 2 fog lights and 2 driving lights on their own respective toggle switches. (They are fused and have their own relays.) I also installed white vinyl number plate backgrounds on each door. (These can easily be removed but I love them!) I installed Minilite Reps with Yokohama A008’s and have the original steel wheels and new tires to go with the car. I am SERIOUSLY considering painting the roof white in the VERY near future and will post new pics when that happens. I must note that there are two factory-drilled holes in the front of the car, each one next to the headlights. These have been painted and are where the big factory bumper support bolted to the front. They really aren't very noticeable and I have two color-matched "plugs" that go into them making them even less noticeable. On the inside I replaced some carpet on the front kick panels, “freshened up” the dash and got gauges working. (Well… the fuel gauge is a little “iffy”.) I have a replacement hazard switch coming, the old one only liked to work when it felt like it. I also have a Mountney Sport Steering Wheel that isn’t in the car now as I’m waiting on the correct hub; it will be installed when the hub arrives and the stock wheel will obviously go with the car. The battery is also new. I replaced the old pedal pads with new ones – I’m anal I guess – I have the old pads as well. I replaced a window crank handle and lock surround with new ones – the old ones were worn out. The engine runs like a top! I replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, and wires. I also installed a new water pump, rebuilt the brake cylinder, installed a new fuel filter and cleaned and re-oiled the K&N air filter that was already in the car. (I used the K&N Filter Re-Charge Kit) It will have a fresh oil change and new filter before the next owner gets it. The body and floor pans are in great shape! I believe this car had an older restoration – I would rate the paint as an 8 out of 10. There is a spot on the hood that looks like there was some kind of contaminant in the spray gun. The seats are in great shape and the headliner shows very well – no rips. I would rate the interior as an 8 out of 10 as well if it weren’t for some of the spots on the headliner and a couple of small splits on the passenger side of the dash. If I were to keep it I would freshen up the suspension, install a roll bar and sump guard and go have fun on some gravel roads! Of all the classic cars I’ve owned this one gets more thumbs-up, waves, and shouts than any other!
