But the headlamps themselves had a dominant role in styling being the larger of the 2 pairs, and also to draw attention to the most distinctive Bentley feature of all: the matrix radiator grille. Interior Design and Style The cabin is designed to make the driver feel comforted and reassured by the expanses of top quality hide and fine wood veneers. The cabin also ensures a new level of luxury, style and good taste. The symmetrical nature of the fascia with a centre console rising up and curving left and right in front of the passenger and driver in a shape of the famed Bentley wings. It also has the effect of creating the same atmosphere on either side of the car so that the passenger can feel almost as much part of the action as the driver. Regarding seat design, Bentley is one of few car manufacturers that design seats as an in-house field and anyone who has traveled in a Bentley knows how important this area of design is to the marque. The particular feature with the Continental GT was to offer a comfortable seat complete with considerable front and rear travel, a multitude of electric adjustments and integral seat-belts. Bentley’s designers met all the safety targets of the integral seat and belt without compromising the interior style of the car. The front seats have been designed pillarlessly while the rear seats have been given the same attention as the back passenger sit well apart with deeply scalloped recesses for their elbows, allowing ample personal place. In Continental GT, most routine operations can be operated direct from the steering wheel. The way Bentley tailors the natural wood and leather to suit the Continental GT proves that these traditional materials can still create a contemporary feel. The 21st century technology enabled wood to be curved in a way that would simply not have been possible in the past. Thus providing a short engine with a considerable capacity and frees up space that can be reapportioned to the car’s interior. Indeed it is the shortest twelve cylinder engine on the market. Design Technology The first Bentley designed entirely in the virtual world, the Continental GT’s every single component was not merely computer designed, but designed into the Continental concept alongside every other part. Powertrain and Chassis The W12 formation engine was a natural choice for Bentley. Not only did it have the potential to deliver these objectives, it also boasted the incredibility compact dimensions required to realize the Continental GT’s packaging requirements. Using two turbochargers on an engine with two banks of cylinders has many advantages over the old, single turbo method. It has been a fantastic car, and undoubtedly the sweetest handling of any I have owned (including a Lotus Elise which was better described as challenging). ROD BEARINGS Mechanically the car is in great shape. Internally the engine is very clean indicating optimal oil service intervals. The original VANOS hub had but light markings, surprising for the mileage. This car has no engine performance modifications. Currently the only issues are a weeping power steering line, CPV leak, washer reservoir leak at pump, and front sway bar links. All parts are on the way and will be taken care of in the next two weeks. I would not hesitate to drive the car across the country! Exterior condition isn’t perfect which I address in the photos. Overall the paint is still great for a car this age, and it looks better than any I’ve seen recently. There are a few small scratches around the car, a tiny chip and indent over the rear passenger side wheel, normal rock chips peppering the front, small scuff on the rear bumper, and finally a scuff on the front bumper and front fender. The windows are tinted which I planned on removing, decided to leave it in case a buyer prefers it. Interior is in great condition. Seats have some wear, particularly driver side, but it’s appropriate for the mileage. Rear seat seems to have never been used. Trunk is in good shape and as I replaced the trays it looks great. I did cut small holes in the carpet over the shock mounts to access the Ohlins rear adjusters, refer to photos. I have kept the car exceptionally clean, with two bucket washes every other week, engine steam cleaning (never spraying with water), and Einszett interior plastic and leather cleanings. The Volk wheels, sway bars, and Ohlins were treated with Wolfs Chemicals Nano sealant when new, it provides a high level of protection that will last 12-24 months! Introduced on October 5, 1965, the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow and Bentley T-Series were unveiled at the Paris Salon Motor Show with rave reviews. The Silver Shadow was a limited production Saloon that used the familiar 6.75 litre V8 engine built by Rolls Royce. The new Silver Shadow was 3 and a half inches narrower and 7 inches shorter than the previous model but still managed to make more interior space for the passengers. The Silver Shadow II was redesigned for model year 1977 and ran until 1980 with just 8425 examples made worldwide. Many automobile journalists have said over the years that the Silver Shadow and T Series Saloons are amongst the best handling and most loveliest of the older generations of Rolls Royce and Bentley cars. European Motor Studio is proud to offer this stunning 1978 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II finished in a beautiful shade of Peacock Blue Lacquer over Blue Connolly hides with contrasting Magnolia piping and blue Wilton wool carpets. This beautiful Silver Shadow left the Crewe production line in September 1978 and was then invoiced to North America. The car was purchased by Myrtle Proctor of Proctor and Gamble, one of the largest companies in the world in November of 1978. The car lived in North Carolina with the Proctors in North Carolina. The car was traded into Rolls Royce Bentley of High Point in Summer of 1984 where Egan Oil Company purchased it and then brought it to Minnesota. Sometime in the 1990’s the car made its way to Arizona where the second owner had a home and kept it here ever since. Having traveled only 33,090 meticulously maintained miles, this Silver Shadow is in exceptional original condition. Showing only small minor imperfections in the lacquer finish around the front windshield and one small scrape just above the drivers turn signals (it has been buffed and touched up), the rest of the metallic Peacock Blue paint looks beautiful and still retains a deep shine free from any fade, dents or scratches. The body and undercarriage is completely rust and corrosion free, and showing no signs of any damage or accident history. All of the body rubbers, chrome and trim all look to be in excellent condition and still intact. All four tires are brand new in the correct factory size for the car. The interior is the original Connolly leather and still in beautiful condition. The seats are still very soft and supple with very light creasing (no tears or heavy cracking). All of the carpets are original and still in beautiful shape free from any tears or stains. Even the original lambs wool throw rugs are present with the car and in good shape. The wood on the dash board still retains a beautiful dark/red wood color but does show some hairline cracks around the AC vents and on the door railings. All of the switchgear is in excellent condition and all in working order including the power antenna, original Blaupunkt radio, windows, door locks, power seats, AC/heat, all the lights and turn signals and the interior and dash lights. The original wool headliner is still intact in beautiful original condition and completely stain free. This Rolls Royce starts right up and does not smoke, it idles beautifully and shifts into all gears with ease. The car accelerates smoothly and quickly without any hesitation or issues. This Rolls Royce rides like a proper British saloon; the brakes feel solid and free from any fade or squeaks and the steering and suspension feel solid and tight. Introduced on October 5, 1965, the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow and Bentley T-Series were unveiled at the Paris Salon Motor Show with rave reviews. The Silver Shadow was a limited production Saloon that used the familiar 6.75 litre V8 engine built by Rolls Royce. The new Silver Shadow was 3 and a half inches narrower and 7 inches shorter than the previous model but still managed to make more interior space for the passengers. The Silver Shadow II was redesigned for model year 1977 and ran until 1980 with just 8425 examples made worldwide. Many automobile journalists have said over the years that the Silver Shadow and T Series Saloons are amongst the best handling and most loveliest of the older generations of Rolls Royce and Bentley cars. The car was purchased by Myrtle Proctor of Proctor and Gamble, one of the largest companies in the world in November of 1978. The car lived in North Carolina with the Proctors in North Carolina. The car was traded into Rolls Royce Bentley of High Point in Summer of 1984 where Egan Oil Company purchased it and then brought it to Minnesota. Sometime in the 1990’s the car made its way to Arizona where the second owner had a home and kept it here ever since.
