New fuel line,fuel tank,electric fuel pump,brake lines,brakes all done with in the past couple years. Interior completed a couple years ago. Have full receipts all work completed. This is a turn key daily driver. Pioneer sound system. Had hopes of putting aftermarket A/C in but its time to move on (Has Compressor) Rims are custom made Boyd Coddingtons Junkyard Dog polished 20x10 with new tires. Beautiful 1962 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special Hardtop. A Southern car from new, with a Black exterior with Grey cloth and leather trim interior. Has all original interior with just some light wear mostly in the drivers seat area, and some small age related trim wear on headliner and other interior parts (see the pics). This Cadillac has been in the same owners collection since 1981, having been stored inside and covered most all of its life. Has all the standard 60 Special fittings with all power windows and 4 power vent windows, all main windows function fine but the 4 power vent windows have the usual sticky operation/movement. The 8 way power front seat does not work some of the time, just needs a switch cleaning I think. Car has original Factory AC system fitted with all components in place but has not been charged or used in many years, so does not currently work. Exterior was repainted in original Black in 1990 and still looks excellent with only 2 minor areas of deterioration, one being the lower right corner of the rear window molding showing some bubbling corrosion and a lower 6" area of the right front fender has some bubbling rust peeping thru ( see pics ). A few cracks in the top dash pad, see pics. Very nice all original trunk materials with jack and spare. The tires are old wide white wall bias ply, they hold air well and have nice tread but probably not good for a cross country drive. Has a couple of light wiper scratch lines on the drivers side of the windshield that may polish out and is missing the Fleetwood badge on the trunk. Super nice solid body with some light corrosion spots on the chrome and bumpers, see the pics. Very nice under body chassis with just the normal very light surface rust of a 55 Year old Caddy. Has just recently been fitted with a NEW Battery, Water Pump, belts and hoses And an electric fuel pump to replace the OE mechanical one. Original AM signal seeker radio that works. Working power door locks. Has some various glass delamanation as is common on all cars of this age, see pics. The original Cadillac Series 60 was produced from 1936-38, but the model was maintained as the Series 60 Special from 1939 to 1976, and then again from 1987-93. The eighth generation of Cadillac to bear the name 60 Special was built from 1961 to 1964 on the full size rear-wheel-drive C Platform. The car was popularly known as a Fleetwood. With the exception of the Eldorado Biarritz convertible, the Fleetwood 60 Special was Cadillac’s most expensive passenger car. The prices of the Series 6700 were higher, but those were extended-length limousines, hearses, and ambulances. The Fleetwood 60 Special was available only as a four-door hardtop, with a long list of standard features including power seats, power windows, power steering, power brakes, automatic transmission, dual backup lights, windshield washer, two-speed wipers, and a remote control trunk lock. Available options included air conditioning. Engine power was provided by Cadillac’s 390-cid V-8 with a single Rochester four-barrel carburetor, which offered 325 horsepower. From 1961-63, the 60 Special used GM’s trusty Hydramatic automatic transmission. Styling changed substantially over the years, with 1961 models sporting the sharp tail fins, popular since the late 1950s, but in 1962 these were toned down and the fins were almost gone by the end of 1964. In 1961, the grille was creased across the midline and sloped back towards both the hood and chrome bumper. For 1962, the crease was vertical, with the grille sides sloping towards the headlights. A strong horizontal center bar divided the grille in 1963-64, and the lower portion of the grille swooped over the fog lights. Cadillac made about 14,000 per year from 1962 to 1964.

It has received a complete frame off, nut and bolt restoration and only has around 1000 miles on it since completion. It is dressed in deep triumph midnight blue (Factory Color) and shows with great luster and pride. The body is laser straight and the panel fit is beautiful. The chrome has all been redone and has a brilliant shine. The bright work is polished and shines extremely well. All the glass is intact and clear. All the lights and signals work properly and even still has the spare tire inflator mounted on the rear tail panel. The body is solid and completely rust free. The floors are also solid and rust free. Every nut and bolt has been paint stakingly restored. The tires are new bias plyed 3” wide whites. Originally Regal Silver, the car was purchased by the original owners as a Silver Anniversary present. It was repainted Sable Black in 1993, and new correct halo top replaced, but is otherwise as delivered. The car is always kept garaged. Over the years the exhaust, brake, and cooling systems have been overhauled and new Air Shocks and rear coil springs have been replaced. The car runs and drives quite well. The original interior will need some refreshing, and the brightwork could use some attention as well, but essentially this is a solid, usable example that can be improved over time. The car feaures Power Brakes, Steering, Windows, Seat, Door Locks and Antenna, Cruise Control, and Telescopic/Tilt Wheel. Included are all books, records, a shop manual and 1967 Dealer Catalogue. Originally used for a single horse drawn enclosed carriage for 2-4 people, the “Brougham” owes its name to a British statesman, Henry Brougham, 1st Baron Brougham and Vaux, whose second claim to fame is having given to the sea-front drive, in Nice in the South of France, the nickname of Promenade des Anglais (the "promenade where the English stroll"). Cadillac first used the name in 1916 to designate an enclosed 5-7 passenger sedan body style. In the thirties, the name was given to a formal body style with open chauffeur compartment and enclosed rear quarters, metal roof and often "razor-edged" styling. When Cadillac started offering Fleetwood bodies on some of its cars in 1925, the Brougham body style was Fleetwood bodied every year with the exception of 1926.] After 1937 the Brougham name was not applied to any Cadillac for the remainder of the pre-World War II period. The Brougham name would eventually reappear on the 1955 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham show car, which preceded the 4-door Eldorado Brougham hardtops of the 1957 to 1960 model years.The 1957 Cadillac Series 70 Eldorado Brougham joined the Sixty Special and the Series 75 as the only Cadillac models with Fleetwood bodies although Fleetwood script or crests did not appear anywhere on the exterior of the car, and so this would also mark the first time in 20 years that that a Fleetwood bodied car was paired with the Brougham name. After a five year absence the Brougham name reappeared as an option package on the 1965 Cadillac Sixty Special.The following year the Brougham moved up to becoming a subseries of the Fleetwood Sixty Special. This continued through 1970. Starting in 1971 the Sixty Special was only available as the well equipped Fleetwood Sixty Special Brougham. The completely new Sixty Special for 1942 was 7 inches (180 mm) longer and 1 inch (25 mm) lower than the 1941 model, and now riding a wheelbase of 133 inches (3,400 mm), longer than any other non-limousine Cadillac. This marked the beginning of what would become a central characteristic of the Sixty Special. For 28 of the next 34 model years of its existence the Sixty Special would feature a uniquely stretched GM C-Body with noticeably greater legroom and headroom.Through 1948, Cadillac advertised the Sixty Special as a five-passenger car. This was the year that the bumper 'bullets' were introduced; they would remain a Cadillac styling feature through 1958. The slow-selling sunshine top (sun roof) option was discontinued at the end of the 1941 model year, and would not reappear in a Cadillac until the 1970Eldorado. While the roomy interior was luxuriously outfitted, Cadillac depended on trim to differentiate the exterior of Sixty Special from its Cadillac siblings. Decorative chrome louvers - which would become a Sixty Special trademark ornament for years to come - were mounted in three locations on the 1942 model: behind the wheel well openings on the front and rear fenders, as well as mounted on the roof behind the rear door opening. In addition to the louvered trim, the Sixty Special had a wider "C-pillar" than other models, and retained its individual chrome bead around the side window glass – one of the only design features to carry over from the original Bill Mitchell design. Just two models were now available in the Sixty Special series – the standard sedan priced at $2,435 and a $2,589 Imperial sedan which featured an electrically adjustable glass division between the front and rear seats. Productions totals include 1,684 standard sedans and an additional 190 Imperial sedans. Because of World War II, Cadillac ended automobile production in February 1942 and began assembling military equipment.On October 17, 1945, the first post-war Cadillac rolled off the assembly line. The 1946 Sixty Special was now very similar to the C-body Series 62, though a mild wheelbase stretch added more room to the rear seat area. The 1946 model showed few changes from the 1942 model, including a mild grille redesign and new bumpers. Parking lamps and turn signals were now mounted below the headlights. This was the first year the "V" was used underneath the Cadillac crest (the last vehicle to use this emblem would be the 1984 DeVille). Only one model remained in the Sixty Special lineup – the $3,054 standard sedan. Both sets of fender-mounted chrome louvers were gone, but roof-mounted ones remained. Cadillac now used a negative-ground battery on a 6-volt system. Sixty Special would only reach 5,700 units for 1946, as it did not go into production until later in the model year. An electric clock was standard.[3]1947 Cadillac 60 SpecialFew changes greeted Sixty Special for 1947, as an all-new design was coming in 1948. Cadillac's famed "sombrero" wheel covers – in bright stainless steel - debuted this year. Behind the redesigned grille was the same 346 cu in (5.67 L) engine that Cadillac had been using since 1936, now rated at 150 horsepower (110 kW). Bright metal stone shields – mounted on the forward edge of the rear fenders - replaced the black rubber pieces used on the 1946 model. The new grille was made up of five bars versus the previous six. Lastly, Cadillac script nameplates replaced the block letters used previously. Price was up to $3,195 – a pretty substantial jump from the 1942 price of $2,435 considering it was practically the same vehicle. Despite the steep price hike, production hit a new height at 8,500 units, but this represented only 14% of Cadillac's sales, down sharply from the 40% share they had represented in 1939. But you must believe me when I tell you, that I have found it impossible to carry the heavy burden of responsibility, and to discharge my duties as King, as I would wish to do, without the help and support of the woman I love. – King Edward VIII Theirs became one of the most famous love stories of all time. Never before had a king given up his throne for a woman he loved. Edward VIII, King of Great Britain, Ireland, and the British Dominions, Emperor of India, abdicated his throne on December 11, 1936, to marry Wallis Simpson, an American socialite from Baltimore. The couple henceforth became known as the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, and embarked upon nearly forty years of international jet-setting amidst the world’s most prominent people. Edward VIII, in particular, defined a gentleman’s style for his time. His clothing, pastimes, and habits were copied the world over, and his influence still reigns today, with men tying a “Windsor knot” in their neckties. Likewise, Wallis topped the international best-dressed list for decades, and her taste in jewelry and clothing captured the imagination of the world’s most famous designers. Nassau proved the couple with a new venue for socializing and beautiful weather, but more importantly, it was a quick air trip from New York City, where they kept a suite at the Waldorf Towers on Park Avenue. During their visit to New York in late 1941, the Windsors were greeted by adoring crowds. They also took receipt of their new Cadillac from one of their society friends, Alfred P. Sloan, Jr., the powerful chairman and CEO of General Motors. It would carry them to the Empire State Building, and through a ticker tape parade down Wall Street. The New York Times dubbed it a “glossy new Cadillac.” It was so much more. Delivered in the waning days of old coachbuilding and the Classic Era, “The Duchess,” as it became known, was one of the final truly one-off, coachbuilt Cadillacs produced. A completely custom creation Not a single body panel on the Windsors’ car matched any other 1941 Cadillac. The hood, trunk, fenders, fender skirts, roof, and doors were all crafted by hand, and all interior appointments were hand-fitted. The fenders were and remain the car’s most notable feature. Beginning with a crest over the wheels, in the style of other 1941 Cadillacs, they extend and fade through the back of the body, predating Hooper’s coachwork on the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud by 15 years. The streamlined appearance was sufficiently striking that Buick would borrow the basic style of the design for its 1942 production models. The car’s custom roofline, which dips between the windows to form a wide center post, would appear on the production 1942 Cadillac Series 60 Special. Other unique exterior features included the Windsors’ “W.E.” monogram to the rear doors, unique stainless steel rocker moldings and drip rails, and no side or rear emblems. Cadillac’s iconic “Goddess” hood ornament was, on this car, plated in gold. Inside, the car was upholstered entirely in rose-colored custom broadcloth, extending even to the headliner and sun visors. The floors were covered in Wilton wool carpet, custom-dyed to match. Conveying the car’s ideal combination of masculinity and femininity, these light colors are set against custom-finished walnut caps for the doors, cabinetry, and divider window. Four brushed stainless-steel jewelry cases, each of them lined in velvet, served to carry the Duchess’s purchases prized jewelry. For the Duke, there were no fewer than three cigar lighters and two ashtrays, as well as a humidor and a custom rack for his favored Sasieni pipe. This was the very first Cadillac to be equipped with power windows, with the side glass hydraulically operated, and an electric center privacy divider. All windows are equipped with satin privacy curtains, which roll away from use when not in use, and the door handles and vent window cranks are crafted of custom Lucite. As the Duke was a well-known enthusiast of automobiles and aircraft, Cadillac expected that he would take the wheel of this car on occasion. As a result, unusually for a limousine of the time, the front compartment was detailed to be as elegant and opulent as the rear, including its own radio, with a manually controlled roof-mounted antenna and buttons preset to New York City AM stations of the era. The custom rear radio, shrouded in solid copper, enjoyed a vacuum-powered antenna, which could be raised or lowered with the touch of a chrome knob on the rear seat armrest. Reportedly, even the Cadillac’s mechanical components were individually selected from the factory, to be “the best of the best” and to assure reliability and smoothness of operation. This car came from the factory with nearly every advanced feature that General Motors could offer in 1941. There were sealed-beam headlights with blacked out surrounds, safety glass, fully automatic heating, directional signals, power windows, power antenna, hydraulic brakes, independent front suspension, automatic thermostat shutters, ride stabilizers, and fully automatic Hydra-Matic transmission. Provenance According to Roy Schneider’s Cadillacs of the Forties, The Duke of Windsor paid an astonishing $14,000 for the completed limousine, an extravagant sum in 1941. It would be his first Cadillac, but not his last. He would use it for eleven years. During that time, it was often photographed with the couple, appearing regularly in newspaper clippings and newsreels. In 1952, the Duke traded the Cadillac in on a new custom-built Cadillac. It was resold by General Motors to Charles Beswick, a noted dealer of luxury cars in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Springfield Daily News reported on the transaction in its July 17, 1952 edition, stating that the car showed 19,246 miles, and gushed that its finish looked, “twice the quality of newer cars.” Beswick resold the Cadillac to early collectors Vernon and Bevline Bradley of Springfield, who added some 50,000 miles before selling it through a New York Times advertisement in 1964. William J. Edmonds III, a Cadillac collector from Fort Worth, Texas, was the new owner, and maintained the car largely in storage until its acquisition by Morgan Murphy in 2009. At that point, the process of extensively documenting and then restoring the long-lost “Duchess” began. Before embarking on an exhaustive, 20,000-hour restoration involving more than 200 specialists, Murphy, a longtime journalist and member of Cadillac & LaSalle Club (see www.morganmurphy.co) painstakingly researched the history of the Duchess, combing records from General Motors, Cadillac, the Royal Archives, the University of Oxford, the Associated Press, Time Life, The New York Times, and Paramount Pictures. The resulting documentation is nothing short of astounding—not only did Murphy locate the car’s original build sheet, confirming its matching numbers and provenance, but he also found images and film footage of the couple in the car the very day it was delivered. Subsequently, Murphy has spoken to every owner of the Duchess since the Duke’s ownership. Current Condition Today, the car operates as it did originally. The six-volt starter gently fires the V-8 to life, without the aid of modern fuel pumps, and the engine idles at a near-silent 400 rpm – so quietly that one can only hear the fan blades. The 90-degree crankshaft and harmonic balancer, along with cylinders balanced down to .005 grams, gives the Cadillac unprecedented smoothness. The interior was carefully brought back to its ornate original specifications, with seats and carpets painstakingly matched to the original material, and identical in their color, feel, and quality. The black finish has been carefully recreated to original specifications, and all chrome replated to show standards. As with all aspects of the Cadillac’s restoration, the chassis and mechanical components were finely detailed. The wheels are shod in Firestone wide whitewall tires, as specified for this car originally; original tags hide behind the seat cushions. Even the light bulbs have period-correct markings, and electrical components are properly serial-numbered, with cloth-covered wire. The clocks, radios, windshield washers, heating systems, fans, and lighting all use original mechanisms and bulbs. Even individual screws and bolts were saved whenever possible, replated, restored, then positioned back into their original holes. Whenever possible, original parts were used; “New Old Stock” components were the next best option, followed by having parts recreated from scratch. “The Duchess” is accompanied by copies of original historic photography, showing the Cadillac as it was freshly completed. General Motors extensively photographed the car, both in the studio and in front of 854 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, showing the car’s custom bodywork and interior fittings in exquisite detail. Also accompanying are copies of its original build sheets, showing the car accounted to “A.P. Sloan, Jr., New York, N.Y.” and that its construction was handled by the factory engineering department. The car’s data tag on the firewall, engine number, and frame number all match the original build sheet, and have never been altered in any way. I suspect, if God was being driven around in 1962, this is what he would choose as his mode of daily transportation. This nine passenger land yacht is powered by the powerful and reliable 390 V8 engine used by most of the big Cadillacs during the 60s. It has 325hp and plenty of torque to carry the 5400b car loaded with passengers and luggage up hills with ease. In 1962, they made 904 of these limousines and most were sold into commercial use. Not ours. Father Divine bought this one right across the street from one of his hotels at Broad St. and Ridge Ave. in Philadelphia from Scott Smith Cadillac. It was a Series 75 Limousine, Black with grey interior, and loaded with options. The passenger side rear view mirror, still intact, is not viewable from the driver seat! So there was another curved mirror added for safety when backing this up and switching lanes. The Dirham Coach building company out of Philadelphia installed a full vinyl roof to the car and it really separates our vehicle as being a very special one-off that you will find yourself talking about to people at car shows who have "never seen this before." As a private vehicle, it has always been garaged and has a documented low mileage of less than 74k. The current owner has had it for the last 14 years and is ready for a new toy. During that time, he has taken excellent care of the vehicle and has made sure to drive it on a regular basis. Although he kept it under 1000 miles per year, it has not been out of inspection at anytime. New batteries, belts, tires, AC work, oil changes etc. have all been looked after as if it was a daily driver. Current owner has also added a new stereo with speakers up front that are easily removable if you would like to take back to stock. No cutting of the dash was necessary. Engine runs great, trans shifts smooth, surprisingly quiet vehicle for 1962, but hey, it's a Caddy! The trunk is vast and has a CD changer installed, holds a 2.5 ton jack and a full size matching spare. All included with the sale. Items that need attention:-There are spots at the bottom of the front fenders as they meet the front doors that are rusting from the inside, this is due to the AC unit condensation running to the back of the vehicle. Not through the paint, but it is there. -There is also a rear leveling system that is currently in-operational.
