We are pleased to present this absolutely amazing 2002 Audi TT 225 Quattro American LeMans Series Commemorative Edition for your consideration. Yes, that's a model name that's nothing short of a mouth full, and there's good reason. The TT ALMS (as it's abbreviated), is an extremely special car with just 500 examples being produced in each of two color combinations. The TT ALMS was produced to celebrate Audi's crushing victory overall of the American LeMans Racing Series. They started with a top of the line TT 225 with every option. Then they added exclusive exterior and interior colors -- Avus Silver Pearl over Red Nappa Leather in this case -- exclusive hyper silver 18" light alloy wheels, high intensity discharge xenon headlamps, and special color coordinated steering wheel and knee pads. We've provided a scan of the original ALMS brochure below for reference. The 1.8 Liter Turbocharged 4 Cylinder engine combined with Audi's 6 Speed Manual transmission and Haldex all wheel drive is a completely bulletproof combination. With just regular maintenance, these cars will run forever and ever. On top of its normal features, the car has also had thousands of dollars spent on top end performance upgrades by its previous owner. I'll get into that more specifically in the paragraphs below. The interior of this TT is in beautiful condition. In fact, overall, its absolutely spectacular. The interior is trimmed in black with a black dash, console, carpet and headliner. I personally love cars with black headliners because it's almost like you're in a cave while driving it. It's very cozy and it puts all of your attention on the road. Very sporty. The seats, door panel inserts, knee rests, and steering wheel are in the ALMS exclusive red color. Only 500 TTs were made with this interior it's striking to say the least. The nappa leather seats are still very soft, and feel great. They're also heated for your comfort. The nappa leather wears like iron compared to standard leather. Everything in the interior works. The car has the bose stereo system that includes a CD player in the dash. It's easy to use, and sounds absolutely awesome. The previous owner of this car was definitely a non-smoker. The cigarette lighter hasn't been used, nor has the ash tray. This TT has dual front airbags, as well as front side airbags. Because it has the climate package, it does have heated front seats, as well as heated exterior mirrors, heated windshield washer nozzles, and heated door lock cylinders. The rear seats do fold flat for hauling large cargo. It's amazing how huge the cargo area is with the seats folded flat. It's almost like a station wagon! The rear seats are recommended to be used for children only, so please keep that in mind. There isn't really enough space back there for a full-grown human. Even the carpet in the trunk is incredible, and it has the OEM trunk mat with the TT logo. The car has striking brushed aluminum trim including a beautiful aluminum door with the TT logo that closes in front of the audio system. The car also has Audi's famous rubber "Monster Mat" floor mats with the TT logo embossed in them. They're the best floor mats on the market and are great in all seasons. They can easily be hosed off to clean them. The exterior of this TT is in exceptionally nice condition, and is Avus Silver Pearl in color. This color is exclusive to the 2002 TT ALMS and the 2003 S8 Exclusive. These are the only Audis sold in North America available in this striking color. Avus silver is a medium to light silver with a hint of blue in it. It's gorgeous and it shares its name with the 1992 Audi Avus Quattro concept car which had a lot of styling that led to the design language used by Audi in the 2000s, especially the TT! The outside of the car is actually quite free of dings and scratches. The paint is absolutely gorgeous except for some light haze at the top of the passenger door. It's hard to see, and was impossible to get it to show up in photos. There is also some imperfection on the 1 inch wide strips that run the length of the roof where the optional roof rack would mount. I have taken a close up picture of this. Again, it's very minor. It has the original hyper silver ALMS 18" light cast aluminum alloy wheels. This was the first use of 18 inch wheels on the TT, and the hyper silver color was exclusive to the ALMS. We installed absolutely brand new wheels on the car to prepare it for sale. As such, they're flawless. Now, let's talk about the performance upgrades which have been installed on this car. First and foremost, it has a tune of some sort. Unfortunately, there are no markings to determine what tune it is, however I believe it is a GIAC tune based upon the specs. The car makes 25 pounds of boost under WOT which would indicate that it also has an upgraded fuel pump, injectors, and some other ancilary parts. It has a silicone inlet hose on the turbo, as well as a Neuspeed intake. It also has coilovers. The front is adjustable, and as with most audis, the rear is not. In the photos, the front is adjusted about as low as it'll go. Even though the rear is not adjustable, it has matching lowering springs and performance shocks. There is also an AWE Tuning boost gauge in a vent gauge pod to monitor boost. None of these upgrades seem to be affecting any of the cars systems. The check engine light is not on and all readiness codes are set. The car is insanely fast. We've sold a lot of European cars, including some that are borderline exotic, and I would say that this comes pretty close to being the fastest car we've ever offered for sale. It is extremely well-sorted and the power comes on flawlessly with no hesitation. The car also has a performance clutch of some sort. It appears to be a stage 2 southbend disc clutch, but it's hard to tell without removing the transmission. It's very snappy but not hard to drive. There is also a B&M short throw shifter in place. Since this started as a 225 model, it has the K04 turbocharger which is the largest factory turbocharger offered on the 1.8 liter engine. The tires are all in good shape.The brakes are in good shape and the car stops as it should. The legendary 1.8 Liter Turbocharged 4 cylinder engine runs flawlessly and is very smooth. See the above paragraph for details about the engine and performance. These engines are an incredible combination of power and efficiency. These cars can easily get over 30mpg with conservative driving. This is a perfect time to note that this car requires premium fuel, especially because of its tune. It simply cannot be run on regular. The transmission shifts through all 6 gears and reverse properly, and the clutch is excellent. The timing belt service was completed 2000 miles ago. All of the car's accessories work including the power windows. As long as the oil is changed, and basic maintenance is performed, these cars rarely have major mechanical problems. This car includes a 3 Month 4500 Mile powertrain warranty at no additional charge. The warranty can be used at any repair shop in the United States, no matter where you live. This warranty covers the engine, transmission, and drivetrain. This is in place in order to provide peace of mind when purchasing a car via the internet. Additionally, this warranty can be adjusted to cover nearly every component on the car, and can be extended up to four years and unlimited mileage. This listing includes the car and a valuable assortment of extra parts I had purchased for the car during the past 12 years that I have owned it including: a rare set of 4 BMW 2002 factory-option Bottle Top Wheels, made by either Mahle or FPS, (est. value $1,000), a set of 2 rust-free BMW 2002 Inca Orange doors (est. value $500), and BMW 2002 door weatherstripping (est value. $400.00). My 1976 BMW 2002 is one of the last 2002's made by BMW. It is a survivor. It does not appear that this car has ever been in an accident. I bought the car in Maryland about 12 years ago. The previous owner told me that he had owned the car for about three years, that he stored it in his brother's garage, and that he rarely drove it. He decided to sell the car because he had just purchased a Mini with a great stereo system. The previous owner told me that he had bought the car from a doctor who had spent a considerable amount of money to have the car restored. The car was very presentable. The body was very straight. The chrome was very nice. The interior of the car was in excellent condition. It was apparent that the paint job was less than ideal. The clear coat had begun to fail. There was some surface rust visible, but not much. One day a couple of years after I had bought the car, I discovered that several rust holes in the rocker panels had been concealed with a combination of tape, paint, undercoating, and guile. That was not a good day. THIS CAR IS DEPENDABLE: I have driven the car about 15,000 miles during the past 12 years. The engine has plenty of pep. The car has never let me down. I have enjoyed owning and driving the car. I hope that the next owner will enjoy owning and driving it, as well. THE GOOD: This car is a "driver," but it is not my "daily driver." The car is fun to drive, and it gets a lot of attention. It has been my toy. The next owner could restore the car, modify it for racing, or drive it in its present condition. The car starts, idles, runs, and stops as it should. It is equipped with a 4 speed manual transmission, sunroof, fog lights operated by a rare original BMW oem auxiliary fog light switch with a yellow button, Weber 32/36 carburetor, and aftermarket alloy wheels. The previous owner told me that he replaced the muffler with a better one, which makes a delightful sound. I like it, too. The sunroof does not leak. The seats had been reupholstered before I purchased the car. The door cards are in excellent condition. They are not cut for stereo speakers. The shock towers are rust free. Last year, I replaced the Interstate Battery, two tires, and the clutch master cylinder. Also, I had the Weber 32/36 carburetor rebuilt. The tires are in good condition. All of the lights work. The horn works. The car is registered in Virginia as an Antique Vehicle; therefore, it does not need a yearly inspection. I'm sure that it could pass one. I paid a one time fee with Virginia DMV to have the car registered as an Antique Vehicle. I believe the cost was only $50.00. Insurance is cheap. THE NOT SO GOOD: The car has a couple of dents and some rust (see below). The clear coat is peeling in places, and it would benefit greatly from a quality paint job. The motor burns (or uses) some oil. It's done so since I owned it. It's not uncommon for an older car to use some oil. I change the oil every 3,000 miles. I use Castrol 10W40 for high mileage vehicles. I check the oil when I fill the gas tank, and I add oil when it needs it. The dash has a couple of cracks. The blower motor does not work. It didn't work when I bought the car. The sunroof crank handle "droops" due to a bad spring. It's a common problem. The door weatherstripping is worn; however, the car comes with a set of new door weatherstripping, which I would encourage the new owner to install AFTER painting the car. The windows open and close, but the regulators should be adjusted or replaced. The hazard light switch is held closed by a push pin (a simple fix to a common problem). The BMW hazard light switch was poorly designed. There are only three wheel caps. Merchant's of Harrisonburg broke one of the four wheel caps when they serviced the car. The service manager promised to provide me with a set of matching wheel caps. I am still waiting for him to keep his promise. The brake master cylinder is leaking and should be replaced. It's a small repair (about $140.00 for the part and labor) which I may have done before the car is sold. Because the car has a Weber carburetor with an automatic electric choke, the car can be temperamental when starting the car when the weather is cold. That's normal. With persistence, the car will start. When the car warms up, it runs like a top. RUST? DID YOU SAY RUST? OMG! WHERE IS THE RUST? 1. The hood has some rust just above the chrome trim above the turn signal. The rust is visible in Picture no. 1. Also, there is some surface rust below the windshield, which is visible in Picture nos. 13-16. 2. The trunk lid has some surface rust below the back window, which visible in Picture no. 12. 3. The driver's door has some rust under the bubbling paint near the left front tire, which is visible in Picture no. 13. 4. The passenger side rear quarter panel has some rust under the chrome trim near the right rear tire, which is visible in Picture no. 18. 5. The front valence has some surface rust, which is visible in Picture no. 19. 6. The driver's side rocker panel had rust in two places. The rust has been repaired. (I have pictures I can send to you.) 7. The passenger side rocker panel has two small rust holes (about the size of a half dollar, maybe). (I will take pictures and send them to you.) 8. On the passenger side near the front wheel, the small area designated to place the jack has rusted. The area is visible in Picture no. 20. 9. "The later rectangular taillamp models have their own strong following, as these cars feel a little more solid, and corner a little flatter, than the earlier models. The one to avoid is the '75 model due to their one-year-only distributor and emissions-strangled engine that resulted in poor performance. These models can be modified easily as every 2002 mechanical part is interchangeable among the car's entire production run. Since all the bugs were worked out by the time the final 1976 models were produced, these are, without question, the best-built 2002s of them all." Hemmings (citation omitted pursuant to eBay rules) DOES THE AIR CONDITIONING WORK?: NO. The car did not come with a/c. It is rare to find a BMW 2002 with a/c. DOES THE CAR HAVE A RADIO?: NO. Having the roof stowed not only is a cool process, but it also gives everyone a look at the amazing interior. It came from the factory 56 years ago in this same interesting teal, with insets of turquoise and white. The overall impression is a distinctive look that still complements the exterior.
