Here is a 1978 Trans Am. It is an original black with gold decals car, along with the black vinyl interior. The Special Edition Option was added, as was new 15x8 Snowflake rims, from the WS6 package. The tires are P245/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A's, which have approximately 4,000 miles on them. THIS IS A NUMBERS MATCHING CAR--meaning, it still has the engine, transmission, and rear end, that it left the factory with! The engine is the optional W-72 (Pontiac) T/A 6.6 400ci. (220 HP), with a Turbo 350 automatic transmission, and posi-traction rear end with 3.23 gears. Other options on the car are an AM-FM stereo, rear defogger, and air conditioning--which has been rebuilt with a new compressor, along with being converted to 134A refrigerant. It works well, and blows air nice and cold. As of July 8th, the car has 84,356 miles on it. The car is in excellent condition. The body has a paint job, with a mirror like finish, along with all new decals, and new Special Edition grilles. The interior was restored, with new carpeting, headliner, door panels, seat covers, and sill plates, along with the steering wheel, dash panel, and shifter bezel plate all being restored in the Special Edition gold finish. The trunk was refinished with the proper spatter paint, new carpet and decals, and has the requesit jack and spare. The engine compartment is in very good original condition. The car received a Ziebart undercoating treatment, that was applied when the car was new. THIS IS A NATIONAL SHOW WINNING CAR! In 2012, it received a second place trophy; and in 2013, a first place trophy, at the Trans Am Nationals, in Dayton, Ohio--which is the largest national event for the Firebird body cars. This show is approximately 425 miles from my home. I drove the car there both years, and it ran like a champ! Parts that have been replaced, include: thermostat (with a 180* unit), temperature sending unit, (driver's door) window regulator, gas tank, starter, exhaust system (true duals with H-pipe), rear brake hose, harmonic balancer, and the rear end was rebuilt. I have the PHS documentation, build sheet, and all the records and receipts from my work done, and the previous owner. It is kept in a heated, insulated garage; not driven in inclement weather; and, has never been smoked in. I have owned this car for three years, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a fun car to drive! I really don't want to sell it; however, family obligations mandate the sale. I live approximately 30 minutes northeast of Buffalo. That intake sends a high octane air/fuel mixture into unique, high-flow cylinder heads that are equipped with familiar, stamped steel valve covers. And those heads utilize a roster of high performance internals to create rocket-like acceleration. That acceleration is sparked by a traditional points distributor, which sequences fire through fresh Packard TV R Suppression cables. Spent gases are handled by fully restored exhaust manifolds, which roar into correct, true-dual tail pipes. And everything under this killer classic is restored, clean and ready to roll. When it comes to interior dcor, Pontiac's 70s team was firing on all eight cylinders. This 'bird's "XA" branded L78 combined the largest muscle car engine you could buy with Pontiac's proven "6X" head design and newfound handling prowess to create one of the fastest pony cars on the market. At the top of the smooth mill, a big Rochester carburetor and modern HEI distributor ride under a familiar Trans Am shaker. Below those components, warm GM Corporate Blue paint coats the entire block, while correct cast iron manifolds funnel spent gases into factory-fresh exhaust pipes. In the middle of that undercarriage, an original Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed, which wears a correct 182758 partial VIN, sends power to a posi-traction differential and mild, 2.41 gears. Below that stellar powertrain, a rebuilt WS4 suspension, which includes power steering, thicker sway bars, better shocks and stiffer springs, combines with standard issue power front disc and rear drum brakes to provide quick stops and great handling. At the center of that suspension, an original exhaust system barks a deep, vintage roar through an original, transversely-mounted muffler. At the corners of that exhaust, restored snow flakes spin gold, Special Edition paint between 'gold bird' center caps and modern 225/70 BF Goodrich Radial T/As. And all the car's hardware and bushings, from its leak-free fuel tank to its correctly installed emergency brake cable, appear to be lucid and in good shape. Open this Pontiac's massive black doors and you'll find an original velour interior that wraps gold, Special Edition trim in a whole lot of old school style! The owner purchased this car in 1983 and has had it for 31 years. She babied this car and was always garage kept. The body is in excellent condition. The Code 24 Martinique Blue paint appears to be original or mostly original. The decals also look to be original. It shows well and is very presentable. The code 11N white interior is in very nice condition. It is clean and comfortable. There is an FM module in the console pocket to add stations to the factory AM radio. The engine compartment is original and untouched, just the way you want to see it. Even the fresh air hose and preheater hose is in place. Those are always lost. I have owned many Trans Am’s myself and I have to say this one is the best driving original T/A I have ever been in. The suspension rides perfect. The steering is tight.
