Up for auction is this ultra rare car, 1 of 307 produced in 1935! Our 1935 Desoto Airflow SG coupe is 95+% original and complete, and as such, an excellent restoration project. If you've been looking for an Airflow coupe you know how rare these are. Nicely restored examples have recently been bringing very high five digits when they do come up for sale. The Desoto (6 cyl) Airflow cars (1934-1936 only) were truly revolutionary groundbreaking cars. Credited with the introduction of many major technical advancements in automotive design, including; 1) the first car designed in a wind tunnel to improve drag and increase land speed without adding horsepower, 2) the fiorst car that moved the engine forward over the front axle so in turn moving passenger seats forward so riders would ride 'between the wheels' for a smoother ride without the 'buckboard' affect for the rear seat passengers, 3) the first car that incorporated the headlamps into the body of the car (instead of cans attached to the fenders), and perhaps the most significant, 4) this was the world's first 'uni-body' design car, the passengers rode 'inside the frame' which greatly improved survival in case of a crash. All these above features, common to automobiles ever since and all cars made today. were pioneered by the Desoto Airflow in 1934. This Airflow 1935 SG Coupe has some minor rust in the usual places; rear truck area, edges of lower fenders, but overall it is a 95% complete and solid car with no structural rust issues and retains it's original drive train in tact (engine turns, but we never tried to start). Our seller told us it was driven on and off the trailer when he picked it up in Arizona many years ago. The seller was a well known Mopar collector and operated the largest Mopar salvage lot on the West Coast of America and was active in the Airflow Club of America. He had intended to restore this ultra rare coupe but Father Time caught up with him first. We had also to restore her but we have just too many projects already started and so we decided to let her go in order to help finish several other projects. Our loss can be you gain! It is the way you like to see them, still in original condition...and most importantly, it has it's legendary waterfall original grill and mascot in tact with just minor pitting and no 'broken bones'....so we believe it will restore to show quality. This airflow coupe has the rare optional window washing system and the original jar is in tact. Also has original under dash heater still intact as well. We may have additional parts stored separately that are not shown in pictures, please ask if you see something missing before bidding, otherwise what you see is what you get! The Airflow Club of America is an excellent club for supporting your restoration and has re manufactured many of the rare items needed for restoration. Free delivery within the SoCal area, or we can help to arrange transportation for you. Note, we will also be listing a 1936 Desoto S2 sedan, in similar very restore-able condition in a separate auction. Please see attached photos for details, and please ask us if you'd like to see more before placing your bid. This car is available for inspection at our Canoga Park (in San Fernando Valley, Southern California just 30 minutes from LAX airport) restoration shop during normal business hours, appointments on weekend possible. We can also offer full restoration services for this Airflow car in case you do not want to do this yourself. We have recently completed a frame off restoration of an award winning 1936 Desoto Airflow S2 sedan and can send you pictures in case you'd like to see the quality of our work.

Up for auction is a very rare car; a 1936 Desoto Airflow S2 Sedan that is 95% complete, an excellent restoration project that ha already been started with many restored and some NOS parts included with the sale. If you've been looking for an iconic Airflow you know how rare these are, and they do not come up very often. All these above features, common to automobiles ever since and all cars made today. were pioneered by the Desoto Airflow in 1934. 1936 was the final year for this amazing car and saw styling improvements including it's beautiful waterfall grill and flying lady mascot, so the 1936 Desoto is widely considered the most beautiful of the Airflow line. This Airflow 1936 S2 Sedan has some minor rust in the usual places; rear truck area, edges of lower fenders, but overall it is a 95% complete and solid car with all of it's original drive train. The original engine and trans are currently out of the car, and this car comes with an extra block as well. Some parts are already restored, such as both the front and rear bumpers and bumper emblem parts which are already rechromed. There is also a brand new clutch, the radiator has been refurbished and all the window and door rubber parts have been purchased and are NOS sealed in their plasic bags...so the restoration is well on it's way. Now it's body, paint and 'some assembly required'! This S2 Sedan also has the rare option of an electric clock built into the right glove box door (the S2 came with TWO glove boxes!), and also has both of it's fender skirt w/ unique emblems (one skirt emblem needs a minor repair, the other is perfect). Most importantly, it has it's original iconic grill and flying lady mascot in tact with just minor pitting and no 'broken bones'....and easy resto so this car can be restored to show quality. The Airflow Club of America is an excellent club for supporting your restoration and has re manufactured many of the rare items needed for restoration. We can arrange free delivery within the SoCal area, or we can help to arrange export transportation for you. Note, we will also be listing a 1935 Desoto SG coupe, in similar very restore-able condition in a separate auction. Please see attached photos for details, and please ask us if you'd like to see more before placing your bid. This car is available for inspection at our Woodland Hills restoration shop during normal business hours, appointments on weekend possible. We can also offer full restoration services for this S2 car in case you do not want to do this yourself. We have recently completed a frame off restoration of another award winning 1936 S2 sedan and can send you pictures in case you'd like to see the quality of our work.

And while the brand was originally envisioned as a stepping stone to the corporation's namesake luxury marque, it also spawned performance and economy models to fend off internal competition from Dodge and Plymouth. That means the '50s power monsters MoPar enthusiasts know and love often have more exclusive counterparts like this stylish Fireflite Sportsman. Wrapping a hot 341 cubic inch Hemi V8 and stalwart pushbutton Torqueflite in a tailored interior and sweeping sheetmetal, this all-American cruiser HAS to be some of the coolest metal on the planet! And with only 7,216 companion cars, it's some of the rarest Detroit iron ever produced. For fans of unique cars, it doesn't get much better than an Exner era Chrysler. And if you're a discerning collector who's itching for a classic, big-fin MoPar that'll be the star of every cruise night in town, this '57 DeSoto is your ticket! BODYWORK/TRIM Based on legendary designer Virgil Exner's 'Forward Look' body, DeSoto's well-known Fireflite series is some of the finest metal to ever leave an American design studio. The spectacular Fiesta Red and Frost White example you see here was assembled at Chrysler's Detroit, Michigan manufacturing facility and exceptionally maintained by one fastidious owner for close to 57 years. Its mostly original sheetmetal reflects a smooth, 2-stage finish that was applied in the summer of 2014. Yards of original brightwork and stainless feature no modern supplements, with the exception of fresh chrome on the car's taillight housings and rear bumper. And, as far as we can tell, this coupe has never been fully disassembled, with the aforementioned owner instead opting to address issues of aging as they arose. ENGINE All that classy metal moves thanks to a Hemispherical Fire Dome V8, which is branded with a correct S26-27094 assembly stamp. Clocking in at 341 cubic inches, the square-bore mill turns hearty 9.25 to 1 compression into 295 horsepower and 390 lb./ft. of stout torque. And naturally, given the car's ownership history, the engine appears to wear a roster of correct and original pieces, from its glossy air cleaner and rebuilt Carter carburetor all the way to its beefy radiator and tagged red cap battery. Fire is provided by a traditional points distributor, which sequences sparks between an old school generator and 7mm Copper Conductor Cables. Combustion comes courtesy of a correct camshaft, which breathes through a correct intake and original exhaust manifolds. Aesthetically, the engine's clean Aluminum paint contrasts well against a fresh Fiesta firewall and glossy black fenders. And little details like gold valve covers, vivid "DESOTO FIREFLITE EIGHT" call-outs, stainless fluid lines and a Sparton horn round out this coupe's natural eyeball appeal. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The 1957 DeSoto was "the car that makes yesterday seem years ago". Accordingly, the division's marketing gurus drowned the print world in ads touting the brand's new Torsion-Aire Suspension. And surprisingly, that statement still holds true today, as this big boulevard king sits on a freshly detailed chassis that veils pothole-shattering solidity in a silky smooth ride. Behind the Fire Dome V8, an original A488 Torqueflite 3-speed sends power to a correct rear end. That tough driveline spins in a factory-spec undercarriage that's complete with Chrysler's robust torsion bars and stiff outrider springs. At the corners of that chassis, heavy duty drum brakes ensure solid, fade-free stops. At the center of the car's rust-free floors, a traditional true-dual exhaust system employs deep, glasspack-style mufflers. And all this road-worthy hardware rides on painted and capped wheels, which spin pliable 8.50-14 BF Goodrich Silvertown whitewalls. INTERIOR Take a look inside this coupe and you'll find a mostly-original Gray and White interior that sports enough room to haul the whole family in comfort! Wide bench seats prop piped and stitched vinyl under fresh centerpieces. In front of those seats, a Frost White dash hangs a crack-free pad over a correct AM radio and stylish, pushbutton transmission controls. That dash and seat combo is framed by rich carpet, textured door panels, chrome pillar covers and a white headliner that's stretched across polished roof bows. In front of the driver, a 2-tone steering wheel spins a chrome horn ring around an intricate DeSoto logo. And behind the passengers, a large trunk props an original jack and spare tire on an original mat. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATIONA variety of original marketing materials. An original Owner's ManualAn original Service CertificateTwo original key tagsA March, 2014 photo of the car with its only owner This classy DeSoto is a super cool cruiser that's easy to imagine as the focal point of a cross-country road trip. Description  1935 DeSoto Airflow SG Coupe Project - for sale by private party -   The word “rare” is frequently used to describe classic cars.  This car is among those that truly deserve the term.  Airflows, both Chrysler and DeSoto, were produced in very small numbers. Consequently, the limited production cars (and the coupes in particular) are highly sought after today.   This example had already been converted to a street rod when purchased by the current owner.  Because the build quality was lacking, the plan was to do a complete teardown and rebuild.  The car was stripped down and much of the sheet metal repair has been performed by a respected restoration shop.  There is still plenty of work to do.  This project will allow the next builder the opportunity to build a unique street rod without sacrificing an original car in the process.   This project is not for the faint of heart.  It will require resources and dedication to build this into the beautiful car that it deserves to be.  The foundation is there.  All of the significant pieces (bumpers, grill, headlamps, fender skirts, instruments, etc.) are included.   Features:   1935 DeSoto Airflow SG 2 Coupe (418 Airflow SG coupes produced in 1935) New NOS upper grill (never installed) Original gauges/instruments Original bumpers (chromed) Original Fender skirts New door sills Body sandblasted and DP primed Most body dents repaired 1956 Firedome 330 hemi engine (needs to be rebuilt) 700r4 automatic overdrive transmission (needs to be rebuilt) Sits on Chevrolet S10 (disc-brake) frame   The last photo shows the car prior to teardown. I have listed this car for a friend.  I can put you in touch with the owner.  The car is located in Bellevue, WA 98005 (just east of Seattle).  A viewing can be easily arranged.     Sorry, not interested in trades.     Buyer is responsible for shipping from Bellevue, WA 98005.  Vehicle is sold as-is and where-is.  Please have the vehicle inspected prior to making a commitment to purchase.   Vehicle will be held until purchase funds clear.  Payment by cash, certified cashier's check, or electronic funds transfer.     Save time & money with FREE Auctiva Image Hosting.Create listings that get noticed! with Auctiva's 1,800+ Templates. Up for auction is a 1955 Desoto 2 door hard top. There is no engine or transmission. This is a project and will need work to put it back together. At some point before I bought it, the steering column, front seat, engine and transmission were removed. I have since source out a replacement column and steering wheel along with the front seat. The floors and trunk are solid. There is a little rust in the lower quarter, but it hasn't gone completely thru the metal, but will eventually. It will need to be replaced. I have a 1956 front grill for it since the original was sold before I received it. The rear end has been replaced with a ford 9 inch only because it didn't have a stock rear end when purchased. Purportedly, this car has a replacement windshield inside the car, but I have not verified its fitment. The bumper chrome is in nice usable shape. Stainless is fine but could use a professional polish. Please note on the passenger rear quarter there is a dent that should be noticeable in the pictures. The value of these cars is simply going up. When done either as a restoration or a custom, this car will turn heads. I'll include a pic or two of finished prototypes. The winning bidder will be required to set up shipment. I will assist in any reasonable manner possible, but I will not be the one to do the legwork on setting things up. If you have any questions about this car please feel free to contact me at 480 628 37 six three. This car is being sold with a notarized bill of sale. I do not have an Arizona title for it.

The Desoto Firesweep was produced by the Chrysler Corporation and sold under the Desoto name from 1957 through 1959. Such as their signature tailfins; the front clip was based on the Dodge Coronet and the rest was mostly true to Desoto’s unique design language. The most telling feature is the headlight design, housed under heavily chromed lids typical of Desoto. A Firesweep could seat six passengers and was available as a four-door sedan, five-door station wagon, two-door coupé, and two-door convertible; with two-door models being the rarest. Power was provided by Chrysler’s 361 V8 producing 295 hp. Unfortunately after declining sales numbers 1959 was the last year of production for Firesweep. Dripping in newly finished classic white body paint and red hardtop, this Firesweep is beautiful! The paint is in fantastic overall condition showing minor signs of age; the car shows extremely well. All of the body panels are in very good condition, straight from the front end to the signature tail fins. Both chrome bumpers are in very good condition showing only very minor signs of age, but still very presentable. Optional dual rear antennae’s are still in great condition, along with the other chrome trim pieces that accent the car’s lines. Inside, you’ll find that the largely original interior is two-tone red vinyl with period correct patterned cloth inserts, which are in great condition. The headliner is a perforated vinyl material that is in good condition with only minor imperfections due to age. Still retaining the original dashboard and gauges the mostly original interior is in fantastic condition. The push-button automatic transmission selector not only adds an air of uniqueness to this classic but also functions as it should. An optional AM radio with Desoto’s signature clock is still in place too. Black carpeting appears to have been replaced and is very good condition with very minor wear. Finally the original owners choose the deluxe light package to show off the spacious interior for the six possible passengers. Under the hood, you’ll find a very clean and original 361 cid Chrysler big block V-8 engine, paired with a smooth and durable Torqueflite automatic three speed transmission. Equipped from the factory with power steering, this classic is a joy to cruise in. White wall tires compliment the car very well, which are in good condition and appear to be newer. All four original Desoto hub caps are still in place and shine very well. What are you waiting for? Desoto’s are among the most unique classic American cars and never fail to impress wherever they travels. Pile in your six friends and cruise your way into a past memory. GET OUT AND DRIVE! Hey Gang. We have a cool 1955 custom Desoto 2 Door Hardtop (which a hard to find-most are 4 doors) for sale or possible Trade. We are the 3rd owners of the car .Was in the same family until we got it. A gentleman inherited the car from his family and about 10yrs ago he stripped the car down to just a bare shell to restore. He had the body work done brought it back home and never put it back together,a few years later he passed away. So that's where we come in,we bought the car to Hotrod it -as far as we where told all parts where there including original drive train(Hemi) I was going to throw a sbc in it so I wasn't worried about the motor. Long story short we started to figure out what went where and what parts we would need. It's taken 8-9 months off and one but we finally got all the trim parts and pieces together - we decided to go the custom/ Hotrod look until we got it going -so we painted the white areas on the car base coat and the mint green on the car is a primer .We then re -installed all the trim glass ect. All chrome and trim is in original condition but all shines up awesome. We took the interior to the upholstery shop and had it all done in black -new carpet, door panels ,kick panels, front and rear seats, rear panels ect...At this point we had to figure out the running gear-so for giggles we drained all fluids changed all belts and hoses threw a batt in and she fired right up. We also pulled the carb off and had rebuilt and fuel tank pulled out and flushed and boiled out. New fuel pump. Tons of new parts. This would make a cool Hotrod or Custom or it would be very easy to put back to stock. I have a set of the factory Chysler/ Desoto wire wheels (hard to find Kelsey Hayes) on it now but also have a set of steel wheels for it with spider caps or also a few sets of Desoto hubcaps.I have tons and tons of parts for the car as I've had to buy lots parts for it then found better stuff along the way. What it still needs to make a great daily driver. At least 1 motor mount or u joint (as it clunks when you put it into gear some times) - i ordered a set of motor mounts but have not installed yet-a Brake check( it stops fine) but I've never checked them so better safe than sorry-swap out the 6 volt wiring to 12 volt. ( every thing works fine now but to upgrade ) headliner ( on eBay $225). Double check the motor as I know nothing about the motor(speedo reads 60k). We've put tons of time and money into this car. Just so we are all clear this is a running driving stopping project car with a little work it will be awesome. There is not one patch panel or rusty area on this thing I've taken pics before the interior was installed to show. All floors and panels are rust free .It is a California car all it's life - I have tons of paperwork and pics from the time it was new until now that I got from the family when we bought it.It is reg'ed in Ca with a clean title in my name also I have both original Black California license Plates ( I had to pay all back fees as the son never reg'ed or non oped the car when he inherited it - it's all good now. ) I'm looking to sale but might be up for partial trade or trade for the right deal. Looking for trade in the 12-18k range no junk please. (Examples C10,impalas,galaxies ,1930-70 early cars ,Coe, anything cool (can be projects but running or close to running ) big horse trailers, custom bikes ect or ? ( what do you have -all we can say is no right) if interested or you have ideas please email Tom I'm sure I'm forgetting something. SORRY THAT SOME PICS ARE UPSIDE-DOWN. DON'T KNOW WAY........... We reserve the rights to end auction early as the cars is for sale locally. Car is located in Sacramento Ca Just north of Sacramento AirPort Thanks for looking Also can help with delivery if within a few hundred miles if we work something out...... Hey guys I've had a few emails asking if the car is disassembled as the pics might be confusing. The car is put together in the mint green primer and white paint as you see it . The others are pics of the journey the car has gone throw- it was stripped down to almost nothing and brought back to a running driving car. Again I'm sure I've forgotten something so feel free to reach out with any questions or trade thoughts. Thanks for looking!!!!!!! Tom @ 916-761-2858 or email us.

Its 100% original sheetmetal reflects a smooth, 2-stage finish that was applied in the summer of 2014. Yards of original brightwork and stainless feature no modern supplements, with the exception of fresh chrome on the car's taillight housings and rear bumper. And, despite what some might call exaggerated proportions and excessive ornamentation, this graceful coupe is every bit as striking as it is handsome! Aesthetically, the engine's fresh Aluminum paint contrasts well against the car's Fiesta Red firewall and Gloss Black fenders. And behind the passengers, a virtually untouched trunk props an original jack and spare tire on an original mat. There are many independent mechanics and shops that may be able to help, but putting your prized classic in the hands of a stranger is a leap of faith at best. This is exactly why we created the RKM Performance Center. Being proud members of SEMA, ARMO, HRIA and the North Carolina Motorsports Association, the RKM Performance Center is a nationally recognized shop; best known for high level OEM restorations and custom builds. Comprised of ASE certified mechanics, including several Master Technicians, you can feel confident that your car is in capable hands. As fellow enthusiasts, they are passionate about cars and will treat yours with the respect it deserves.
