The car has been built from the frame up, the attention to details was job one in how things were plumbed and assembled. He was actually disappointed that you can't see detail of the frame with the body on. The car still needs to be finished but I think one can see that all the hard & expensive stuff is completed. The car does run and drive currently. He has the firewall plate, Fisher body tag, a 1951 CA license plate that was on the car and a 1947 dated title. The body is very straight, the paint is a dark blue metallic 2 stage urethane and just needs a final polish. There are a couple of small flaws but they're hardly noticeable. The door handles have been shaved as well as the trunk handle. The doors have custom painted power mirrors. The firewall was smoothed and brake master located on frame. The hood trim and grill were sanded and painted as the owner's preference. The front and rear were setup to not have bumpers, the rear valance has been reshaped with billet tail lights, license plate notch and notched for exhaust tips. There was also a spot cut out below the rear window for a 3rd brake light for safety. The doors have power window regulators installed and of course the latches. He has all the window trim for the car. There is no glass, it's all flat glass so any good auto glass shop can cut it, you can have it made tinted if you like. The headlight parts got misplaced so you'll need the hardware and there is a company that makes a conversion to 7" sealed beam. The interior is still in raw form, it allows you to finish to your taste. The dash has been reworked to fit a nice wood panel and a set of Dakota Digital gauges. It has a 70's GM tilt column with column shifter and key switch. The area behind the seats has a custom cabinet to separate the trunk and also give a nice place for the fuse panel and engine computer. Of course it has a trunk mounted battery as you can see. The roof has been lined with Dyno-Mat so far. The wiring is mostly done, just needs the interior electrical finished. The Vintage Air w/ heat has the firewall plate installed but it needs to be plumbed and the interior parts installed, the kit is included with the car. The engine and transmission are fresh rebuilds with no more than 20 miles on them. The engine is an 88 Chevy 350 w/ throttle body fuel injection and the transmission is a 700R4 automatic with 1 wire electronic lockup. The engine has an aluminum intake and valve covers, ceramic coated headers and billet air cleaner. The front and rear suspension is 1988 Jaguar XJ8, the original frame was reworked and boxed to make it more rigid. It has a large Walker radiator with temp controlled electric fan. The fuel tank was custom made with fuel pump, return line and pressure type cap and you can see in the pictures it has a custom filler location in the trunk. The brakes are 4 wheel disc, the brake booster and master are on the frame to keep the firewall clean. It rides on stock Jaguar wheels currently. I think the pictures and my description will give a pretty good idea of what this car is, I'm sure I didn't list everything because there is so much. A lot of money and time was invested to get it this far and the owner of the car knows he won't see the over $30K + time invested. This 1969 Buick California GS was born on Sept. 9, 1968 in Fremont CA. It was then sent up to San Francisco to Waters Buick were it found itself it's first owner. The car stayed in the hands of that owner until the 90's were it was found in a back yard, having been left to the elements by the original owner. The second owner saw the potential of what the car was and proceeded to restore it close to original as he could afford. The car had no rust but it did have a couple of dents, the worst was the passenger quarter right behind the door and they were addressed without having to replace any panels. The original engine and transmission were rebuilt and the rest of the car brought up to driver quality. The current owner lives in Australia, he has had me working on it for the last year and he wanted the car to be restored to a higher level but has switched his interests. This is an early car with all the documentation, cars like this don't come up often so take the opportunity to own this special car.The engine is the original 350, it was rebuilt around 1997 and has about 30K miles since gone through. It was pulled out, new timing chain, oil pump and water pump installed and all new gaskets. It is currently running synthetic oil. The engine was detailed with all the correct paint and decals. The carburetor was rebuilt, new fuel pump and new foam installed on the ram air openings. It has new points/cap/rotor/wires, the distributor was cleaned, new advance unit installed and counterweights lubed. The radiator was replaced and a recovery tank was added, the original radiator is included with the car. The transmission had the fluid and filter changed, it was also resealed while the engine was out. The differential had new axle seals and pinion seal. All of the belts/hoses are new and the heater core was replaced. The brakes are all brand new, all hardware, shoes, drums, hoses, master cylinder and front wheel bearings (Timken) have been replaced. The exhaust system is a brand new dual setup with mild sounding turbo mufflers, basically the way it could've sounded new (dual exhaust wasn't an option). The gas tank was taken out to put in a new sender, it was cleaned and refinished along with replacing all fuel and vent hoses and it has a new cap. The front suspension is all brand new with Moog parts, all the ball joints, tie rod ends, idler arm, pitman arm and bushings. It has a brand new set of Cooper Cobra tires in a 205/70R 14 which is equivalent to the original optional tire size and the rally wheels were cleaned and refinished. It has a new set of KYB Excel-G shocks all around, nice riding for these older muscle cars. I installed a set of 2" coil spring spacers in the rear to give it a little bit of a raked look but they can be removed and it sits perfectly level if you prefer. The interior looks good, it was done to be a driver so it doesn't have original style upholstery on the seats. The carpet and dash pad were replaced when it was restored originally. The rear package tray was replaced because it had holes cut for an aftermarket stereo so it was returned to original with insulation pad. The headliner has a couple of bad spots and a new one is included, I just didn't have time to install it for him. The door panels are in good shape and all the windows work as they should. The doors had the glass run seals replaced. The exterior of the car has all the original sheet metal, there was a couple of dents worked out and the bigger one was right behind the passenger door but it was able to be straightened. It took me a while but was able to find the wheel opening molding the previous owner was never able to find. There is and was no rust except for some surface rust on the floor in the trunk that cleaned up well. There were no holes and it was cleaned, treated with POR 15 and sprayed with the correct trunk finish. The original jack and tools were restored and it retained the original jack sleeve as well. I found an original rim and installed a good used tire for the spare. I replaced the trunk seal and got a jack instruction decal for the lid. The paint is about 15 years old now, it was painted a later GM color close to the original because he thought the original was too dull. There are a few chips in the paint but it's definitely looks good. it was an above average job but not high end. The bumpers were redone at the time of paint and shine well but there are a couple of blemishes from polishing over the years. The stainless trim is good all around and it does have typical spots in the pot metal. The headlight buckets were repainted on the inside areas, all the headlight adjusters were replaced, Halogen bulbs added for the outers and headlights aimed. The grill chrome is a little worn so it could be redone and the drip rail molding was not straightened very well when the did the top but it's not to hard to do that. The glass is all original, the rear glass was resealed when the did the top, the windshield has a few tiny pits in it and a mark from a wiper blade but it could be polished out. The rest of the glass is good. The car is really clean underneath and chassis is immaculate, I started to repaint the frame starting up front when that work was done so it wouldn't take much to finish it. The original exhaust was still on the car when the new exhaust was done, that alone will tell you how clean the car is underneath. All the lights work, the horn, heater fan, wipers and even the key buzzer but the radio doesn't.It is a pretty nice car but like most it has little things you could do to make it nicer, most of us are never done but rather just finished for now. If you want an excellent driver, I think this foots the bill. I've tried to describe it as accurately as possible and I get a little wordy but want to cover everything. GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY BIDDING! 1961 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster VIN - 10867S107319 283/230 HP V8 Engine 4 Speed Transmission Manual Steering Manual Brakes Bucket Seats Wonder Bar Radio Hard Top Only I think this is a very nice original CA car that has been repainted once, had the original engine rebuilt and seats upholstered but is as original as possible in all the other areas. The owner of this car has owned it a little over 30 years and used it for weekend getaways to the coast and a few car shows so it wasn't run more than a couple thousand miles a year at best. About 10 years ago he entered it in the Concours here locally and it won 2nd place in it's class for correctness. You can buy a restored one but a car like this is the best car if you plan to actually drive it. The engine is a 283 with the engine codes F0315CQ, the car was built in April so it puts the engine in the "correct" time window. I only mention this because it doesn't have a VIN stamped on the block, this isn't the first time I've seen this so I did a little research and as I suspected March 15 was a Friday. The engine was rebuilt here in Fresno by Dave Hyatt, a very respected shop that those in the know here sought out to get the best work done. It had to be bored .030" over and they added hardened valve seats but everything else is correct to the factory specs. The clutch was replaced when they rebuilt it, pretty standard. The engine was rebuilt about 15 years ago and probably hasn't been run more than 2,000 miles since, he had a 93 roadster that they started driving more because it was more comfortable on the long drives. He brought it to my place for the pictures but he said it's been parked for about a year and needs to be driven so that's why he's selling it. All the detail items in the engine compartment are present and most have original date codes. The plug wire shield is in the trunk, he removed it because the throttle bracket was rubbing on it and he just hadn't gotten it back on. The tach cable is disconnected because the cable was making a little noise, it was working but he didn't want the sender to go out. The interior looks great for original, other than the seats being rebuilt that is. The Wonder Bar radio is present but I believe he said it's not working, the clock is definitely not working. All the gauges (the tach works) are in good working condition. The odometer shows 58,xxx and it's unsure if it's original, he knows he didn't put 100K on it but know one knows for sure. The headliner for the hard top is in great shape as are the door panels. There is a little wear showing on the drivers side carpet but not worth replacing it. There are some scuffs on the entry sills by the seats that is common. It has the accessory seat belts and they are in good condition. The exterior of the car was repainted the original Roman red with white coves, the Black Book says only 984 were that combination. Of course there were 2 different interior color options so how many were built with red interior? A guy could go crazy trying to extrapolate the production numbers by the options but we do know this is one of the best looking combinations and that's all I have to say on that. When the car was repainted, they replaced the right rear quarter panel because it had some damage improperly repaired with bondo from the 70's. The quarter panel replacement and paint work was done at Bill Verboon's shop so it couldn't have been done better. It appeared to have been repainted in an original style single stage finish. There were no other damage anywhere on the body that was discovered at the time but there is a few small chips and scratches from normal use currently. The top is in great shape with the plexi-glass all clear. It could use door glass seals and possibly a header seal but who's going to drive it in the rain? The chassis is as clean as you can find, I don't have a doubt the car that was only driven in CA on nice days or it's possible it only has 58K miles on it. There is no rust issues and you'll be hard pressed to find surface rust anywhere. You won't find a better original underside is the long and short. I think your looking at an honest car that you can enjoy for many years to come, if you want to drive it now and restore later it you won't have to go on an endless parts hunt to bring it to NCRS standards, if that's your goal. I know you could find a soft top if you want, figure another $5K for a frame, restoration and top vinyl if you have to have it. This car was one of the 2,285 that got the N/C hard top in lieu of not getting a soft top, for the numbers guys. Sell the hard top to recoup that cost of you want, I sold one for a guy here a couple of years ago for $4K. If there is a tank sticker, it will still be there as the tank has never been out. I think I've described the car as I saw it and gave you the information so you can make an informed decision but if I missed something that you still need to know just let me know and I will be happy to find out.
