Sure, that's a really cool car, but what about enthusiasts who want a little less nostalgia and a lot more attitude? Well friends, fear not, because RK Motors Charlotte has something for you too! The beneficiary of a professional, frame-off restoration, this national award-winning Chevrolet Sedan Delivery is a fully sorted ambassador of swagger that you can invest in, drive around in and build some serious credibility in. Featuring an equal emphasis on both show and go, it seats a killer 502/700R4 drivetrain, fully custom suspension and supple leather trim in one of the most incredible hot rods we've ever seen! If you've been searching for a striking '50s showpiece, but want something that's more unique than a run-of-the-mill tri-five, this spectacular Chevy's excellent combination of vintage style and timeless class simply can't be beat! BODYWORK/TRIM The product of high quality restoration that was conducted by two body shops, this slick wagon features a lust worthy appearance that's ready to burn down the Manufacturers' Midway! The build began when Steve's Auto Restorations of Portland, Oregon replaced the car's factory lead and sealed everything in a thick coat of protective primer. With a solid foundation laid, Steve Cooley Motors of Homosassa, Florida followed subtle modification with a custom combination of Corvette LeMans Blue and Cadillac Sand Effect DuPont Chroma Premier 2-stage. And today, countless hours and over six-figures later, this Chevy rolls as a lights-out show car that's been deservedly fawned over by some of the biggest names in the business. As a classic car owner, you really can't go wrong with any '50s Chevy. But for many people, the division's '57 model essentially perfected the art. Take a look at this gorgeous wagon and you'll see no less than 22 one-of-a-kind details that walk a fine aesthetic line between the timeless look of factory fodder and the radical, sometimes cheeky appearance of fiberglass recreations. At the front of the car, a recessed grille bar floats between modern headlamps, a filled bumper and a shaved and flattened hood. At the back of that hood, stainless-framed glass rides between modified drip rails, shaved vent windows, polished mirrors and Chevy 150 door trim. Beneath that trim, shaved doors perfectly align Chevy 150 side spears with shaved fenders and smooth-leaded quarters that are capped with Chevy 210 2-door wagon stainless. And at the back of the car, a shaved tailgate hangs between filled pan seams, flush-fit taillights and a bright chrome bumper. ENGINE As young car guys, most of us are taught that talking the talk means we'd better walk the walk. And when it comes to talking the talk, this sedan's inability to shut up can be directly attributed to the walking ability afforded by its 502 cubic inch GM Performance Parts big block. Twisting stout 9.75 to 1 compression into roughly 550 horsepower, the car's show-detailed mill is a logical testament to the old rule: more cubic inches equals more horsepower. A perfect air/fuel mixture is supplied by a K&N-toothed Billet Specialties air cleaner and 780cfm Quick Fuel carburetion. That dynamic duo rides on a ported and coated Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake, which is bolted between ported and coated Chevrolet heads. Those heads hang polished and color-keyed valve covers over Crower roller rockers, custom Comp pushrods and high quality Crane lifters. Those lifters are tapped by a Crane cam, which is sequenced to loomed Taylor plug wires and an MSD Pro-Billet distributor. Spent gases roar through large exhaust pipes via custom William's headers. At the front of those headers, a familiar Vintage Air FrontRunner system spins a polished Stewart water pump between a Tuff Stuff alternator, a Sanden AC compressor and a Detroit Speed power steering pump. And that water pump feeds a beefy Griffin radiator that's wedged between Flex-a-lite puller fans and a Be Cool condenser. Visually, the Energy-mounted block rides in a smoothed and massaged engine bay that displays OEM-level attentiveness to both engineering and assembly. And details like Billet Specialties breathers, Billet Specialties hose clamps, a Billet Specialties water neck, ARP bolts, Fel-Pro gaskets and a Moroso dipstick create a clean and purposeful aesthetic. DRIVETRAIN Take a look under this tire-shredding courier and you'll find a custom, Luxo-Blue chassis that's ready for the strip or the turntable. Behind the big engine, a GM 700R4 4-speed spins between a high performance ProTorque torque converter and Coleman aluminum driveshaft. That driveshaft twists a proven Dutchman 9-inch that rocks an Auburn posi-traction differential around 3.55 gears and 31-spline axles. Those gears push the car on a trick Ridetech 4-link that's fitted with adjustable Ridetech air shocks. Opposite that 4-link, a Kimbridge Enterprises sub-frame makes good use of Belltech drop spindles, Global West control arms, a Flaming River quick-ratio steering box and two more adjustable Ridetech air shocks. At the corners of that modern suspension, hydroboosted Baer calipers bridge the gap between an SSBC master cylinder, and drilled and slotted rotors. Charred dinosaurs float from the aforementioned headers to 2.5-inch, mandrel-bent pipes that employ an X-shaped crossover and polished Magnaflow mufflers. And power meets the pavement through attractive Budnik Cannons, which spin 245/40ZR18 Falken FK452s in front of 255/40ZR19 Falken FK452s. INTERIOR Pop the shaved doors and you'll find a substantially tweaked interior that was installed by Great 8 guru Dale Van Curen's Unlimited Designs. Front and center, '67 GTO buckets wrap bright stainless trim around creamy Doe hides. In front of those seats, a chrome-lined dash hangs a rebuilt clock, Vintage Air climate control and a Custom Autosound head unit beside traditional Classic Instruments gauges. At the edges of that dash, custom side panels anchor billet door handles between modern power windows, LeMans Blue frames and tasteful stainless trim. At the bottom of those panels, custom Doe carpet balances a custom, Chip Foose-autographed console between billet foot pedals and Dynamat sound insulation. In front of the driver, a custom Quality Restorations steering wheel spins a stylish "One Fifty" script around a color-keyed, tilting column. And behind the passengers, a custom-upholstered storage area features almost enough room for one season's plunder of trophies. But, simply put, the true theme of the resto-mod movement is: the best of everything. And if there was ever a textbook example of a true-to-form resto-mod, this Plymouth Road Runner has to be it. Showcasing the hard work of very skilled enthusiasts who understand how to enhance the best attributes of a slick, frame-off restoration, this exemplary coupe features a slew of top-shelf modifications. If you're in the market for an incredible classic that can be shown and driven with the best muscle cars on the road, we've got two words for you: "Beep! Beep!" BODYWORK/TRIM After spending most of its life as a clean driver, this awesome B-Body was the perfect starting point for a professional, rotisserie restoration that mixed a killer engine with classic MoPar attitude. The car's straight body was stripped to bare metal, fitted to a few floor pan patches and finished with a fresh trunk pan. Once those planes were completely clean and fully prepped, quality PPG basecoat was detailed with custom Road Runner graphics and sealed in glossy clear. And today, this primed and polished Plymouth sits as one super slick road warrior that features a perfect combination of no-nonsense looks and vicious street manners. Admittedly, the Road Runner was a little more ambiguous than its Dodge-branded siblings, but a lot of people like that contrast and dig the model's super clean looks. At the front of this coupe, a black-trimmed, body-width grille hangs four H4 headlights above a mirrored bumper and clear parking lamps. Above that grille, a familiar A12-style hood flows to like-new glass that's sandwiched between fresh stainless trim, silver stainless wipers and filled cowl. At the sides of that hood, subtly sculpted panels hang a chrome driver's mirror above shaved fenders, shaved doors and sectioned quarters. And at the back of those panels, a clean decklid centers a color-keyed wing above factory-fresh taillights and a second mirrored bumper. ENGINE What do you do when you have a sweet MoPar muscle car that needs a heart transplant? You call Alpharetta, Georgia's Grimes Automotive Machine and order something akin to this Plymouth's 500 cubic inch Chrysler big block. According to 2013 dyno results, that mill, essentially a bored, stroked and built 440, moves to the tune of 579 dyno-proven horsepower and 625 lb./ft. of tire-spinning torque! At the top of the block, a K&N XStream air cleaner forces wind in to a big Holley carburetor that's cinched to braided fuel lines. At the base of that carb, a MoPar intake feeds air and fuel to Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, which have been ported, polished and treated to a multi-angle valve job. Beneath those heads, forged internals, which include an Eagle crank, Scat rods and Wiseco pistons, combine with roller lifters, roller rockers and a custom-grind Comp hydraulic roller cam to create stout 10.5 to 1 compression. That compression is sparked by an MSD Pro-Billet distributor, which sequences fire between an MSD Blaster 2 coil and MSD Super Conductor plug wires. When that fire flashes, Hooker Super Competition headers ensure the engine breathes well. At the front of those headers, snazzy March serpentine components spin a billet power steering pump and polished Powermaster alternator at the sides of a quality Edelbrock water pump. At the front of the engine bay, a proven Griffin radiator makes good use of dual SPAL puller fans. There's an impressive roster of hardware that includes, but isn't limited to, a Milodon windage tray, a Wilwood master cylinder and tough ARP bolts. And aesthetically, the Jet Black mill provides an excellent contrast to the car's bright red fenders, with details like tubular chassis supports, color-keyed Mopar Performance valve covers and intricate breathers supplementing power with polish. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Like its slick exterior and clean engine bay, the bottom of this coupe is a great combination of past and present. The powerful engine sends thrust to a Keisler-sourced Tremec TKO600 5-speed that enables the car to comfortably attain highway speeds. That proven transmission twists a tough Keisler driveshaft and familiar 8.75-inch axle, which spin a posi-trac differential around big, 3.91 gears. That awesome drivetrain rides between beefy sway bars, Fatman drop spindles, modern coil-overs, small lowering blocks and Competition Engineering shocks. Turns come courtesy of factory-style power steering. Power-assisted Wilwood calipers provide stops. 3-inch exhaust employs electronic cutouts in front of dual-chamber Flowmaster mufflers. Torque meets the pavement through polished Billet Specialties SLGs, which spin 245/45ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 295/45ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs. Naturally, the car's painted frame and undercoated floors are solid and display no signs of major rust or serious weathering. And yes, in typical resto-mod fashion, there's a roster of great finishing components, including stainless fluid lines, polygraphite bushings and sturdy subframe connectors. INTERIOR Pop this Plymouth's tight-fitting doors and you'll find a custom leather interior that plays on the car's incredible aesthetic. An attractive bucket and bench combo has, like the rest of the cockpit, been decked in clean, silver accents that do a great job of mimicking snakeskin. In front of those mitts, a custom, color-keyed dash hangs Auto Meter Ultra-Lite II telemetry beside an MP3-compatible Pioneer head unit that controls Kicker speakers, a Kicker amplifier and Kicker subwoofers. At the base of that dash, a custom console centers a TKO Pistol Grip shifter in front of a broad armrest, a small fire extinguisher and metal cupholders. Beneath that console, tight carpet bridges the gap between machined foot pedals, stainless sill plates and body-matched doorjambs. At the edges of that carpet, custom door panels hang polished handles between glossy frames, snakeskin armrests and small switches for modern power windows. In front of the driver, a polished and half-wrapped Billet Specialties steering wheel was specifically chosen to match the car's rolling stock. In the world of electronic fuel injection and computer diagnostics, even late model dealerships look a little uncomfortable working on pre-OBD1 cars. There are many independent mechanics and shops that may be able to help, but putting your prized classic in the hands of a stranger is a leap of faith at best. This is exactly why we created the RKM Performance Center. Being proud members of SEMA, ARMO, HRIA and the North Carolina Motorsports Association, the RKM Performance Center is a nationally recognized shop; best known for high level OEM restorations and custom builds. Comprised of ASE certified mechanics, including several Master Technicians, you can feel confident that your car is in capable hands. Thank you for viewing our presentation and please enjoy reading our ad. 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Hardtop Coupe Classic Styling, High Performance, Modern Comfort ... Sounds like a Winning Combination to me! This iconic 1956 Classic Chevy Coupe is a balance between the simple styling of the 1955 and the more flamboyant styling of the 1957 Bel Air. Compared to other models built during the same period, she is lighter and more attractive. Considered a convertible with a fixed top, the very appealing Hardtop Bel Air is sought after by collectors and car enthusiasts worldwide due to its style and rarity. This year model Bel Air easily out-styles her competition with her full-width grille extending to include her side lights, an artistically designed chrome front bumper, and attractively hooded headlights. Tastefully restrained tailfins, boldly curved front and rear fenders, a cleverly hidden gas cap behind the left taillight, noticeably large rectangular parking lights, classic Bel Air script, and sweeping side trim that follows a color spear, which carries forward to the headlight and mimics the roof and trunk color completes the Elegantly Distinct Style of the '56 Bel Air. Good Looks isn't all she has going for her. The Bel Air's small-block V-8 made them lighter with a Splendid Power-to-Weight ratio. Speaking of Power ... this Beauty has been Upgraded with a "Double Hump" High- Performance, 327c.i. "Turbo-Fire" 300+ hp engine (used in 60's "Fuelie" Corvettes) mated to a Three-speed Automatic transmission. She has an independent front suspension with a 2" drop spindle and a live rear axle. All of this provides this Classic Chevy with increased top-end speed and improved handling and braking. A Chevrolet ad proclaimed that 'Chevy puts the purr in performance'. This Bel Air, with her small block V-8 equipped with an Edelbrock Intake manifold and a Edelbrock four barrel carburetor, certainly delivers on their promise, delivering a hearty purr from her dual exhausts. She has been through a complete restoration with many modern upgrades. She is Externally finished in a Professional Quality two-tone Matador Red and India White paint scheme with beautiful highly-polished chrome accents throughout. Finished off with a matching hardtop, this lovely '56 proudly represents her model year. Her Distinctive two-tone body side treatments impart a look of motion with graceful front and rear wheel openings which complete the graceful styling. Her interior is finished in a Creamy Custom Leather with Comfortable, Custom Power Front Seats and a Custom Center Console. Her Stunning Dash with its New Modern Radio, New Billet Gauge Bezel with Quad Gauge Cluster (Fuel, Oil, Temperature, Voltmeter) is complete with the signature 1956-model round, analog clock in the passenger-side dash. Her one-piece curved windshield adds superb visibility and the 115-inch wheelbase provides plenty of interior room. Roomy, Comfortable, Fuel-efficient, and Eye-Catching with tastefully restrained use of Tail Fins and Chrome ... You can just hear Dinah Shore singing 'See the USA in your Chevrolet!' Engine: Double hump 327 ci High Performance "Turbo-Fire" 300+ hp engine The "lure" of the double-hump heads has been their performance potential and nostalgia. "Double-hump" heads were found on many of GM's high-performance engines in the 1960s and early 1970s. They were manufactured with larger intake and exhaust port volumes and valves for the period, and engines equipped with them had output ratings of more than 300 horsepower. Double-hump heads were popular performance upgrades for engines that were not equipped with them and are in high demand today in racing applications where factory heads are required. These castings are also becoming more difficult to find for collector and car enthusiasts. Rear-axle Ratios The rear-axle ratio in this 1956 Chevy is the 2.92:1. With her rear-axle configured to a 327 V-8 and a 3-Speed Transmission you get great highway cruising speed at low rpm's which equals pretty impressive fuel efficiency. This Bel Air was built for Cruising! Exhaust: Her dual exhaust originates from Stainless Steel chrome mid-length headers located on the side of her cylinder heads. The mid-length design offers more ground clearance over full length headers. Featuring extremely heavy duty 1/4" flanges ~ you'll feel the air flow difference! Adds horsepower and improves gas mileage. The 1955-1957 Chevrolet Bel Air was considered the company's Crown Jewel. With her many desirable period features, this Splendid Chevy more than adequately reflects the beauty and elegance of the hardtop and Bel Air design.
