1948 Dodge 4 Door Sedan with suicide back doors. Nevada Dry. Super Clean! Same body style as Chrysler, Plymouth, Desoto. 1948 Dodge Fluid Drive, Classic vehicle, in very nice condition! Very stock. We always keep it garaged. Professionally Painted in Reno, NV. Definitely turns heads and gets compliments left and right. Stock suicide back doors! This car was so original and in such great condition when we got it, that we tried to make minimal changes. Paint at the time was not original green, so we color matched to the under-hood color. The owner before us told us it was sitting in a garage for many years waiting for new rings to be installed. Nevada desert air is great for old cars, and garaged is even better. We always keep it garaged. Unfortunately we barely drive it. That being said, we haven't taken it on long trips. Just out for a spin once in a while around the neighborhood or to Hot August Nights and other car meets. We have too many other classic vehicles / vintage projects and not enough room for all of them. This is the nicest and we hope it goes to a good home. Body & Paint Nevada dry car. New beautiful satin dupont urethane paint protects and complements this car's art deco curves. Prefer gloss? Buff it 'til it shines. (Painter says satin finishes are at the surface of the paint, so a few good hard electric buffer buffings will change the sheen.) Windows out, fenders off paint job. Exterior paint color matched to original paint inside engine compartment. New windshield rubber, new door window felt, new rear window rubber, new trunk seal, new fender molding. Windows look to be original. Original trim and grill are unpolished to retain the semi-dulled appearance of age. These can polish out too if you prefer the shine. Grill has a booboo in the center that has not been worked out. Bumpers have general scuffs and dings from age and use. Interior Like the aged feeling of the trim mentioned above, we like the original feel of the old interior so we left it alone. Original interior as far as we can tell. Possibly re-covered seats. Original flooring was rubber mats and has cracked away. Came with make due brown carpet. Not a carpet kit. Added juliano's seat belts with heavy duty mounting plates. 2 front, 3 back. Some interior rust on the floor under the carpet near the sides. Mechanical Low miles (under 500 according to previous owner) on engine rebuilt by previous owner, a mechanic and auto shop instructor. Extent of engine rebuild unknown. Leaks a little oil, not sure where from. Odometer most likely does not reflect actual miles, since this is from 1948, we don't really know what the mileage is. Fluid drive transmission. 3 on the tree shifting. 6v positive ground. Optima 6v battery. Usually plugged into 6v battery tender (included) while it's waiting to be driven. Push button start with key on. Original Mopar AM Radio. Replaced brake cylinders, master cylinder, and brake shoes. Rebuilt original starter. New thermostat. New fuel pump. Heat tape wrapped fuel line to help with those really hot Nevada summer days where vapor lock could occur. Bridgestone whitewall radial tires with hardly any wear. Still have nipples. Powder coated wheels. Matching spare. Have matching painted rear skirts never installed. Terms Sold as-is / where-is / no warranty. Come and get it. Buyer coordinates and covers all shipping coordination and shipping costs. A $500.00 non-refundable PayPal deposit is due within 24 hours of auctions end, and final balance paid in full, due at time of pick up or before. Car must be paid for in full and picked up within 10 business days of auctions end. If final payment is not received within the terms described, buyer forfeits the sale and the deposit will not be refunded. And the car may be re-listed. A rather rare body style today, it embodies all that was great about the first all-new Fords following the war. You can see immediately why the business coupe is special, particularly in profile, where its sleek three-box design was fairly ground-breaking in 1951. The redesigned Fords that hit the market in1949 were a huge success, but it is this design that's the biggest hit with customizers. Fortunately, this one led an easy life and thanks to the pros at Miller Speedsports in Reno, Nevada, it got a pretty comprehensive makeover in 2008. That's when the bodywork was done, among other things, and today it still looks fantastic. Super clean sheetmetal shows clear reflections, critical when the body is relatively free of ornamentation like this one, and they wisely chose to keep all the original details intact. Bright PPG Victory Red paint certainly helps with the eye appeal and this neat little Ford is anything but subtle. All the chrome trim was likely restored at the same time, including the clean, simple grille, cool side spears leading to the taillights, and the clean rear bumper. The more you look, the more attractive this car becomes. The interior was given a makeover that respects the original design yet adds a few modern functional upgrades. Bench seats fore and aft are trimmed in striped fabric and gray vinyl, so it has a '50s sensibility that's still a little custom. Matching door panels are likewise pretty authentic and all the factory moldings and hardware were retained. That cool two-spoke steering wheel is pure 1950s space-race cool and during the 2008 makeover, the transmission got a T-handle shifter. The big central gauge pod was filled with brand new instruments that look cool and include speed, fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature readings, with the auxiliary controls still doing their designated jobs. A Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo fits neatly in the center of the dash and the A/C system was installed underneath in such a way as to stay out of sight as much as possible. This car's original appeal was the massive trunk, and it was upholstered in matching gray carpets with neatly trimmed side panels for a clean look. During the 2008 makeover, the original inline-six was replaced with a Ford flathead V8, but in 2012 that, too, was removed and replaced by a 302 cubic inch crate motor from Ford Racing. With an Edelbrock intake and 4-barrel carburetor, it makes a healthy 340 horsepower, probably twice what the flathead was putting out and three times the original six. A big aluminum radiator and lots of chrome dress up the very clean engine bay and long-tube headers feed a Dynomax exhaust system that has a familiar sound. The front suspension was upgraded to a Fat Man Fabrications independent setup at the same time and a rebuilt Ford AOD 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission makes for pretty effortless cruising. With 3.31 gears in back, it goes down the road without working very hard. 15-inch chrome wheels with Ford hubcaps were fitted with 215/75/15 Goodyear wide whitewall radials which really give it a period custom look.
