This 1999 Series I represents his vision for a no-compromises performance car, one that combines modern technology with the visceral thrill of the original Cobra. This car is 1 of only 249 units produced in 1999 and thus it carries a correct 17 digit production Vin# versus the cars that were built later on. Exotic, expensive, and with a fascinating story, these cars are a fantastic monument to an extraordinary man. Unlike a lot of builders, Shelby stayed current with technology and didn't marry himself to any brand or style. Just because the Cobras were aluminum, that didn't mean he had to build a 21st century version. Instead, he specified a carbon-fiber body for light weight and strength, and gave it dramatic curves that were not only spectacular to look at, but aerodynamically functional. The big oval air intake feeds the radiator, which vents through the hood, not underneath. Side gills add interest, while the rear view resembles nothing so much as a Ferrari Daytona. It shows 12,761 careful miles and is virtually new in every way. Of note, it has the stripe delete option, which gives it a relatively low-key look, and the way the paint is finished, there's no question this is a collector-quality automobile. The cockpit was engineered around the driver, and from the 2-tone leather seats to the gauges, it's suited to life on the street or the track. These cars were outrageously expensive to start and went up from there, so you know finish quality is exemplary, with neat stitching on the seats, sculpted door panels, and a highly functional dash. But it's much more polished than a Cobra or any small manufacturer's product has a right to be, approaching OEM levels in every way. The investment was impressive and the price tag was breathtaking, but few owners complained. Everything works as it should, and although this is a performance car first, there are no compromises, so it carries A/C, power everything, and a substantial stereo that sounds awesome. A black canvas top stows under the rear deck, but like the Corvette, there is no trunk, save for what you can reach from between the seats. Shelby chose a 4.0 liter Oldsmobile Aurora engine to power his new supercar, and with its aluminum construction and 32-valve architecture, it was truly state-of-the-art. With suitable tweaks, it makes enough horsepower to fling the roadster to the far side of 180 MPH, yet happily idles in traffic without getting hot, try that in your Cobra. The chassis is a tube frame design, full-race, of course, with wishbones and coil-overs at all four corners, along with massive disc brakes. It starts, drives, and idles like an OEM effort due to serious tech help from GM, and it has been properly maintained and serviced from Day One. Custom 3-piece alloys enhance the race look and wear staggered 275/35/18 front and 335/30/18 rear Michelin radials. An incredible effort whose cost-no-object build was both its greatest feature and ultimate downfall, but there's no denying that there are few more potent 2-seaters available for this kind of money. And the Shelby signatures are included, no charge. And FFR's latest roadster, officially termed the MK4, is poised to continue the firm's trade of producing the best selling, best-engineered and best-performing replicas of all time. At face value, the formula is simple: take a modern, lightweight chassis, wrap it in high-quality, tight-fitting fiberglass, plant a hot Ford V8 between the fenders and enjoy whiplash-inducing performance. But, as all car enthusiasts know, simplicity and reliability are only achieved through planning and precision. Built, polished and ready to roar, this MK4 roadster combines cool Shelby looks with all the right hardware to turn your knuckles white with excitement! Best of all, it's a fully sorted, turnkey package that's available to you for a fraction of the time and money someone else spent building it. If you've been searching for the perfect car to maximize your dollar-to-thrill ratio, welcome to your next classic! BODYWORK/TRIM Factory Five Racing has long been applauded for their great fiberglass work, and this Cobra is no exception. The car's virtually flawless profile, modeled on two well-known Shelby classics, is a 1-piece, hand-laid Vinylester shell that was laminated to 3/16ths, CNC trimmed and covered in a .015-inch gel coat. That gel lays excellent groundwork for wet looking Metallic Blue 2-stage. Since pretty much every Cobra worth its salt needs some kind of war paint, the builder added a classy pair of Pewter racing stripes. And today, this super slick roadster is a head-turning classic that's ready for the track, the boulevard or the show! Speaking of sophistication, crude detailing is often the downfall of an otherwise excellent build. Not so with this MK4, as every aspect of its design enhances Shelby's innate style and appeal. At the front of the car, polished overriders reflect chrome-trimmed headlights, bullet-style parking lamps and a requisite Shelby emblem. Behind that emblem, a scooped, 1-piece hood flows to chrome-trimmed glass that's seated between polished wipers and Factory Five wind wings. Behind those wings, an accessory hardtop fits well over a polished roll bar. Below that top, aluminum air extractors, a bullet-style racing mirror and small "427" emblems float amid polished side pipes and a familiar LeMans fuel filler. And at the back of the car, chrome-trimmed taillights illuminate a polished oval bumper and two more polished overriders. ENGINE When the original Cobra stormed the scene, team Shelby's mantra was all performance, all the way. And, while many reproductions hit the ground as sedate street cruisers, serious road chops require serious motor. Stroked to a whopping 392 cubic inches, this roadster's serious chops come in the form of a spry Ford Racing small block. The mean mill's energy mixture is supplied by a big Holley carburetor, which is sandwiched between a traditional Cobra air cleaner, a chrome Holley regulator and an aluminum Motorsport intake. That mixture travels in to free breathing aluminum heads, which hang Cobra-branded valve covers and a Ford Racing breather over coated stainless headers. The fires stay lit thanks to MSD 6AL ignition, which jolts a traditional distributor, an MSD Blaster 2 coil and loomed Ford Racing plug wires. That fire is kept in check by a beefy aluminum radiator, which is mated to stainless water tubes and a big electric puller fan. A billet serpentine drive spins a polished, 1-wire alternator above an aluminum water pump. And first rate details, like trick dipsticks, a polished expansion tank, stainless fuel lines, a Jegs throttle linkage and a liquid-filled Jegs pressure gauge, ensure this classic is more than just a random curbside attraction. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION When it's time to put your hair in the wind, forget about outdated Toploader 4-speeds because this modern-day Cobra blisters the pavement with a fresh Tremec 5-speed. That world-class transmission utilizes a Tremec twin-disc clutch to spin a fresh, 8.8-inch pumpkin, which is fitted with 3.73 gears and a posi-traction differential. That drivetrain rides in a fabricated steel chassis that distills a 4-inch DOM frame into modern independent front and 3-link rear suspensions. Those suspensions, which make good use of tubular control arms and Koni coli-over-shocks, are connected to four big calipers that squeeze four drilled discs. At the front of the car's aluminum floor, modern rack-and-pinion steering makes low speed cruising almost as easy as high-speed sweeps. Power meets the pavement through attractive OE Racing wheels, which twist 245/45ZR17 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 315/35R17 Nitto NT555R Extreme Drags. And details like a deep-sump oil pan and color-keyed fender coating round out the car's impressive build. INTERIOR Cobra interiors have always been stylish and simple, and one look inside this roadster reveals just how serious the car's aspirations are when it comes to being driver-focused. British-style bucket seats stretch tight leather hides under 5-point Simpson safety harnesses. In front of those seats, a wrapped dash hangs Auto Meter Pro-Comp Ultra-Lite telemetry between a small fire extinguisher and pedestal-mount mirror. At the sides of that dash, lightweight doors hang polished poppers behind pleated leather panels. Below those doors, clean carpet centers a booted e-brake and small shifter between metal foot pedals and colorful Cobra mats. The driver feels the asphalt through a polished steering wheel, which twists an authentic wood rim around a red, white and blue Factory Five logo. And the passenger stows cargo in a fully finished trunk. The amazing paint, and affordable price, is just what's going to make you act quickly to grab this one before some one else discovers it. You could build a replica yourself, but why bother investing a small fortune if the price is right, and the body looks this good (and we haven't even talked about the drivetrain)? This is a complete, and super-straight, roadster finished in a Charcoal Gray that's so fresh you may have dairy products in your fridge that are older than this professional respray. The overall effect is a super shiny package on this American racing icon that's only reinforced by the bright push bumpers in front, and classic tube rear bumper. Details like the knock-off style wheels, driver roll hoop, and wide fender flares, suggest that it was built for combat, and the hardware underneath backs up this assumption. But even if you don't turn a wheel on the track, it's certain to turn heads on the street. The interior definitely gets the Shelby attitude right with wrap-around buckets, and the three spoke wood steering wheel. The gear stick has been bent forward for improved comfort, and there are power outlets to plug in any essentials (ya know, like a radar detector.) The full AutoMeter gauge package is critical if you're using your Cobra on the track, but if not, they also just look like cool representations of the Cobra's original Smiths readout package. There's no radio, no heater, no A/C this was built with driving in mind, and it's all about the driving experience and nothing else needs to get in the way. Speaking of the driving experience, the best part of a Cobra is always under the hood. This one is powered by a Ford's legendary 302 cubic-inch V8 that was rebuilt less than 750 miles ago. It's been dressed nicely with the correct Cobra air filter, and finned valve covers. Beyond just looking good, the motor makes some serious power by inhaling through a four-barrel carburetor, and exhaling deeply through the powder-coated side pipes. This V8 does a great job of moving the lightweight fiberglass body, and you can stay in the powerband with ease thanks to the five-speed manual transmission. Of course, power is nothing without control. That's why this Cobra comes with an aluminum independent front and rear suspension package, borrowed from a Corvette. It's backed up by a four-wheel disc brake package, connected to wide BF Goodrich tires. But as much as this seems like the perfect racecar, there is another side to this Cobra. With power steering, and a versatile 3.54 rear end, connected to the overdrive transmission, this roadster might also be the perfect way to be seen cruising on a Saturday night. It's hard not to get excited about a Cobra that's a great package for the street and the strip. It only gets better once you see the full binder or maintenance and restoration records - including nearly $5K in recent service. These coupes have the rare distinction of being the first year for the big block, and the last year to be built in California. This one is a well-known vehicle that you can view as car #2802 in the Shelby Registry. Carroll Shelby turned a handful of Mustang fastbacks into a something that was distinctly all his own. There's just no mistaking the Shelby look. The custom fiberglass hood; the functional side scoops; the molded rear deck lid; and the sequential taillights - it all makes an impressive statement. We have the receipts to show that in 2009 this car went through an $85,000+ restoration to make sure this one stayed at the top of its game. Nothing is out of place, the Lime Gold paint is pristine, and the panel gaps are concours-worthy. It's even wearing the expensive, and correct, Goodyear Speedway small letter tires. Remember, 1967 was the last year these 1st generation Mustangs were transformed at the Shelby's own California factory, after that these were coming out of Michigan. So this car really does have an unbeatable race-inspired pedigree. The black bucket seat interior is clean and pristine, including the seat covers, door panels, and dash pad. Basically this one feels factory correct right down to the floormats. It wouldn't feel like a proper first-year GT500 without features like the woodgrained three-spoke steering wheel, roll bar, full harnesses, and full gauge cluster, including the oil pressure and alternator readouts below the AM radio. Check out the included Marti report, everything is as it should be right down to the folding rear seat. Under the hood is exactly what you want to see. This is Ford's big 428 cubic-inch V8 borrowed from the Police Interceptor package. This is believed to be the original motor from Shelby, and it still carries all the great Cobra pieces on the fined air cleaner and valve covers. This engine has not been overly dressed like some chrome king GT500s out there, instead this is dressed to impress with its originality. This level of factory spec also means this motor is carrying the correct aluminum intake manifold topped with dual inline Holley 600 CFM four-barrel carburetors. 355 horsepower? Yeah, we all knew that factory rating was a joke. The GT500 was a great car on the road thanks to a beefed up version of the Mustang's GT package, but that's just the tip of the iceberg for this car. It might be concours-worthy, but you don't have to be afraid to drive it anywhere because it's very easy to maneuver with power steering, front disc brakes, and the factory-optioned C6 three-speed automatic transmission. This is the ultimate snake-bitten Mustang, and it has all the right history, documentation, and presentation to be an award-winner. Too bad you, you may just be too busy enjoying this collectable to attend the shows. Own a piece of Shelby history... That means Cobra enthusiasts don't have to look very hard to find a great variety of components and aftermarket support. Unfortunately, the amount of time and money involved in vetting those parts and building a ground-up custom becomes simply mind-boggling. Enthusiasts sometimes spend years writing check after check to shop after shop creating a car that, by the time it's finished, some of them don't even want. That's where your friends at RK Motors Charlotte come in. You can literally walk right in to our showroom and choose the Cobra of your dreams for about half of its assembly cost. And because we actively search for the best cars on the market, you can rest assured that you're getting a top-notch classic. Decked in vivid 2-stage and supple leather, this impressive roadster pairs a 302 cubic inch Ford V8 with a tough Borg Warner 5-speed and fully custom suspension. Want an over-the-top hot rod that's a blast to show and even more fun to drive? Forget 6-figures and three years of wait time, come claim this cool Copper Cobra! BODYWORK/TRIM Okay, okay... "Copper" might've been a bit of a stretch for the sake of catchy alliteration. But it's certainly a fair assessment of a color that PPG technically calls Vibrant Nutmeg. That pigment shines between Pewter racing stripes and a clean fiberglass body that, in the summer of 2015, was completely worked by Cobra expert Bill Jordan. If that name sounds familiar, it's because Jordan appeared on an episode of South Beach Classics. And if this roadster looks 'showroom fresh', it's because the car has logged less than 100 miles since its completion. At the front of its body, a sculpted nose hangs polished quick lifts and requisite mesh grilles between halogen headlights and chrome-trimmed, bullet-style marker lamps. A sculpted hood anchors an integrated scoop in front of chrome latches. Behind that hood, a chrome-trimmed windshield hangs a small mirror between of clear wind wings, polished wipers and dark-tint visors. At the sides of the car, chrome exhaust pipes frame stylish 427 emblems, aluminum air extractors and a familiar, Monza-style fuel filler. And at the back of the car, a 2-inch stainless roll bar leads the eye to chrome-trimmed taillights, a locking trunk and two more polished quick lifts. ENGINE 'Keep it simple' is a good philosophy when it comes to performance and reliability. And the builders of this clean classic did exactly that by equipping the car with Ford's storied, 302 cubic inch small block. At the top of the fully sorted mill, a petite, polished air cleaner funnels oxygen in to a coated Summit carburetor. That juice box rides between polished fuel lines, a clean Summit intake and an MSD Pro-Billet distributor that flames loomed Summit Street & Strip plug wires. That intake pushes air and fossils through factory Ford heads, which balance chrome valve covers under chrome breathers. In front of those covers, billet pulleys spin a fresh aluminum water pump between a Wilson alternator and coated mechanical fuel pump. At the front of those ancillaries, a heavy-duty puller fan cools an aluminum, high capacity radiator. And speaking of keeping things cool, thermal-wrapped headers join an insulated cowl to benefit engine and passengers alike. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION When it's time to put your hair in the wind, forget outdated Toploaders because this modern-day Cobra blisters the pavement with a fresh Borg Warner 5-speed. That tough transmission twists a Driveshaft Specialist driveshaft, which spins a 9-inch Ford axle. That drivetrain, bolted to a modern, powder-coated chassis, rolls a high performance independent front and 4-link rear suspension, which benefits from tubular control arms and fully adjustable coil-overs. Authentic track feel is maintained by manual rack-and-pinion steering. Brakes are vented discs at all four corners. And there's simply nothing that looks better on a Cobra than a set of Halibrand-style wheels, which spin sticky 235/60R15 Cooper Cobra Radial G/Ts in front of aggressive 295/50R15 Cooper Cobra Radial G/Ts. INTERIOR Open the car's small doors and you'll find a classy cockpit that's a bit more luxurious and roomier than typical Cobra fodder. Bomber-style seats wear pleated, stitched and embroidered leather under 4-point safety harnesses. In front of those seats, a painted and upholstered dash founds clean, white-face telemetry under a small rearview mirror. At the sides of that dash, the aforementioned doors hang pleated panels in front of chrome latches. The driver feels the asphalt through metal foot pedals, a small, billet-topped shifter, and a polished and wood-trimmed steering wheel. And the passenger stows cargo in a carpeted and leather-lined trunk. Seductive, carefully assembled and ready to give you the ride of your life, this Cobra is sure to satisfy anyone who has a pulse! Why waste valuable time and money waiting on a custom build when we have an array of top-notch roadsters finished, sorted and ready to roll? But when you look at the time, money, and effort it takes to build your own, you'll realize how much you really just want a replica like this one with a 302 V8 and an irresistible price. Factory Five got the formula right adding welcomed amounts of room without taking away from the classic Cobra proportions. You'll feel the difference the moment you sit behind the wheel, but more on that in a moment. First, just marvel at the company's 20 years of fiberglass Cobra knowledge. They understand the gentle European curves originally created by AC, and the aggressive fenders and hood that Carroll Shelby needed to harness all that added power. This body looks exceptional in dark blue, and more importantly, it has some serious durability from Factory Five. This one also gets the details right. The dual white stripes are an iconic touch, but they have a unique silver edging to match the dual roll hoops. Of course the item that shines the brightest are the five-spoke Cobra R wheels. Plus, it wouldn't be a competition-style car without a flip-up gas cap. It keeps a traditional appearance inside with the low-back bucket seats, racing seatbelts, and forward curved gearshift. A wood-rimmed steering wheel re-creates the Cobra look, and the dash offers a full array of Auto Meter gauges. For the driver this feels like a pure performance machine right down to the fire extinguisher on the transmission tunnel. But just in case your passenger needs a little entertainment, there's also a Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo system to keep everyone going. Under the hood is a strong 302 cubic-inch V8 with the great iconic Cobra valve covers and performance air filter. Best of all it's been barely broken in with less than 9,000 miles since the motor was built. This one breathes nicely thanks to a four-barrel Holley carburetor and long tube headers. It all exits in polished side pipes so you can hear this awesome growl just as good as everyone else. Keeping all of this power under control is the five-speed manual transmission, four-wheel disc brake package, and grippy BF Goodrich g-Force tires. Even the battery has been relocated to the trunk so the weight distribution is better in the corners. This has all the good looks of a Cobra from 1965 but on a Florida 2003 title. So this is retro fun with more modern components in a beautifully built package. Hurry up before someone else recognizes this value price. Sure, the body's fiberglass, but the proportions are familiar and instantly recognizable, and the guys at Unique Motorsports did a great job with the overall shape. A lot of Cobra kits take liberties with the original shape, either in the interest of interior space or aesthetics, but not this one. The finish quality is quite good, and you can't really blame the guy for wanting it to be pretty, so the glossy paint got a lot of extra prep. Black Cobras are rare, but nobody will argue that the shape doesn't look like a million bucks here, and even though it was completed in 1994, a freshening last year sharpened it up. The doors fit snugly, the hood gaps are clean, and even the trunk closes tightly without a wiggle. White stripes, aluminum jacking stubs, and a black roll bar behind the driver add to the race-ready vibe. That same attitude was carried inside, where modern leather buckets were fitted, along with the right style carpets and the simple door panels that characterized the basic early Cobras. That steering wheel is a handsome three-spoke piece with a warm wood rim that looks right at home in the Cobra's cockpit. White-faced Stewart Warner gauges have been fitted in the center stack and are flanked by auxiliary switches for things like the headlights and windshield wipers. The forward-canted shifter with white Hurst cue ball knob is easy to shift and falls to hand easily. No radio, no tacked-on A/C, no modern gauges, just a simple, clean interior that was what a Cobra buyer would have received in 1965. Even the trunk is finished in matching carpets with a battery tucked out of sight. The engine bay is also highly authentic, given that the powerplant is a 428 Cobra Jet instead of the more common 427 or even a Windsor-based small block. A handful of 428-powered Cobras slipped out of Shelby American's Los Angeles facility, most of which looked exactly like this. Rebuilt just last year, it wears finned valve covers and a matching air cleaner for the carburetor, and the traditional Cobra expansion tank on the upper radiator hose looks right. There's a bit Holley up top, an MSD 6AL ignition box, and a big cam inside, and it snarls to life through a set of great-sounding side pipes. The transmission is a Borg Warner Super T10 feeding what is believed to be the only Unique Motorsports Cobra with a Ford 9-inch rear end. The chassis is a simple ladder-style with a Mustang II type front suspension and coil-overs all around. Four wheel disc brakes keep things from getting too out of hand and it sits on handsome aluminum wheels with staggered 235/60/15 front and 295/50/15 rear Mickey Thompson radials. Cobra replicas remain just about the biggest bang for the buck in motoring, and with a lot of new parts, a clean, classic look, and that big block thumping away up front, this Cobra delivers 95% of the original experience for 5% of the price. This nicely crafted replica has all the right parts, a screaming Ford small block, gorgeous paint, and nasty performance, all for about 2/3 of what it took to build it. This particular Cobra is from Shell Valley Companies, and it nails the big block 427 look. The luscious paint only emphasizes the rounded quarters and flared fenders that make this car the most enduring 4-wheeled icon of all time, and the combination of that paint with bright white stripes gives it a vivid overall countenance. Authentic details like the hood scoop, chrome roll hoop, and late-style taillight lenses give this one a flavor of authenticity that some other kits lack. Finish quality is quite good overall, with smooth fiberglass and decent gaps, and if there's one thing these Cobras have going for them is that they feel sturdy on the road. Chrome bumperettes, wind wings on the windshield, and a flip-up gas cap also help add some sparkle that looks absolutely right on the Cobra shape. Low-back buckets with pleated seat covers are the preferred seating of choice in a Cobra; nothing looks stranger than modern seats poking up over the cockpit opening. Nicely finished door panels are a step up from the basic originals and include a functional map pocket that's rather handy. The white stripe continues inside, slashing down through the instrument panel, which uses retro-looking VDO gauges to monitor the warmed-over small block. The wooden steering wheel is matched by a nice-looking glove box lid, which is a useful addition to the Cobra's spec sheet. A stubby aluminum shifter is a lot more effective than the original reversed lever these cars wore in the '60s, and it's linked to a T5 5-speed manual gearbox that shifts beautifully. Carpets add a degree of civility, and even the trunk is nicely finished and usefully shaped. There is no top or weather equipment, but that's really not the point of a Cobra, now is it? Despite the 427 badges, I continue to believe that a small-block-powered Cobra is the nastiest machine on the track. Less weight over the nose in the form of a 351 cubic inch Windsor V8 means crisp handling without giving up that wallop of torque that you expect from a Cobra. Nicely dressed with a Cobra air cleaner and shiny Ford valve covers, the engine great in the Cobra's engine bay and there's nothing here that doesn't make it go faster, including long-tube headers and those awesome side pipes. Other upgrades include aluminum heads that shave precious weight, an Edelbrock intake and Holley carburetor, a mild cam that makes the idle sound wicked, and an electric fan to keep things cool. The box-section chassis is robust and features A-arms and coil-overs up front, along with rack-and-pinion steering, while the 9-inch rear is filled with 3.73 gears on a Track-Lok limited slip. You'll find disc brakes at all four corners, so stopping power is quite impressive and the Halibrand-style wheels look right fitted with tall-ish 235/60/15 front and 295/50/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials. Titled as a 2003, this Cobra is going to sell quickly, just like all the others. If you're tired of dreaming, waiting, and planning and just want to get on with the fun, perhaps it'll be you who takes it home. That means Cobra enthusiasts don't have to look very hard to find a great variety of aftermarket support, and that makes it pretty easy to build a roadster any way they like it. The problem then becomes the amount of time and money that such a massive undertaking requires. After spending years writing check after check to shop after shop, the enthusiast finally gets to enjoy a car that, by that point in time, they might not even want. Fortunately, there is a better solution! Why not let your friends at RK Motors Charlotte sell you a top-notch custom like this killer Factory Five stroker for half the price, and a fraction of the time, of building it yourself? BODYWORK/TRIM Factory Five Racing has long been applauded for their great fiberglass work, and this Cobra is no exception. The car's virtually flawless profile, showcasing the typically tight tolerances that have become a Factory Five hallmark, lays excellent groundwork for a wet looking coat of glossy PPG Copperhead Pearl 2-stage. That 2-stage was applied at a professional finishing shop as part of a 2-year assembly that wrapped up in late 2005. Since Copperhead Pearl is always best when mixed with something else, the car's slick profile was detailed with Sherman Williams White Pearl stripes. And today, this super slick Cobra is a race-bred street king that's puts a refreshing twist on a timeless American classic. Detailing is crucial on a replica because that's where a lot of cars start to disappoint. Fortunately, you can tell the overall impression of one of these Cobras from about five feet away. And naturally, since were featuring it, this roadster hits all the right visuals! At the front of the car, a sculpted nose hangs a Dark Water Customs air splitter between satin quick lifts, mesh grilles and Cobra Valley Crystalite headlights. A sculpted hood anchors an integrated scoop between locking latches and billet Anvil Auto pins. Behind that hood, a stainless-trimmed windshield hangs a small mirror in front of clear wind wings and dark-tint visors. At the sides of the car, Satin Black exhaust pipes frame stylish 427 emblems, Finishline air extractors and a familiar, Monza-style fuel filler. And at the back of the car, a polished roll bar leads the eye to chrome-trimmed taillights, a locking trunk and two more satin quick lifts. ENGINE Great looks are only part of this Cobra's appeal: it also does a very good job of going really fast and making lots of awesome noise! Remove the car's tidy hood and you'll find a 347 cubic inch Ford stroker motor that utilizes a cast SCAT crank, forged SCAT rods, Keith Black hypereutectic pistons and a custom-grind hydraulic roller cam to churn big horsepower into ample torque. At the top of the balanced and blueprinted mill, a familiar Cobra air cleaner funnels wind in to a 1,200cfm Accel throttle body that's cinched to an Edelbrock Victor EFI intake. That intake is wired to 30 lb./hr. injectors, which siphon a Holley 250 pump, 6AN fluid lines and Edelbrock fuel rails. At the front of those rails, an Accel Dual Sync distributor utilizes Accel DFI 6A ignition and thick MSD Super Conductor plug wires to sequentially fire eight massive cylinders. Those cylinders combust under Dart Pro1 heads, which hide Chromoly pushrods, ARP bolts and Comp Pro Magnum roller rockers under a polished breather and Ford Racing valve covers. At the sides of those covers, coated Ford Racing headers feed high-flow Factory Five cats and stainless DNA mufflers. At the front of those headers, roller timing components back a billet March accessory drive, which spins a rebuilt alternator at the side of a reverse-rotation water pump. And that pump feeds a custom Tri-State Motorsports radiator, which fronts a large electric puller fan and Zoops expansion tank. Electronically, fresh American Autowire wiring works with Accel DFI Thruster EFI engine management to ensure miles of smiles. And niceties like Clevite bearings, Hastings rings, a Melling oil pump and a Forte's dual master cylinder add to the car's form and function. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Rule number one of hot rodding: an excellent drivetrain isn't worth the metal it's built from unless it's paired with a competent chassis. Behind this Cobra's hot small block, a poly-mounted, McLeod- shrouded Tremec TKII 5-speed pairs a steel Ford Motorsport flywheel with a Weber clutch and Centerforce pressure plate. That tough transmission spins a custom Forte's driveshaft, which is hooked to a spry Ford 8.8-inch axle stuffed with 3.27 gears. That axle pushes a Factory Five 3-link that's outfitted with Koni coil-overs, a Vintage Performance Motorcars sway bar and a Vintage Performance Motorcars banana bracket. Opposite that rear end, an independent front-half hangs tubular control arms and two more Koni coil-overs between SN-95 Mustang spindles and a second Vintage Performance Motorcars sway bar. That suspension is guided by ATSCO power rack-and-pinion steering, which mixes a Flaming River lower shaft and Breeze Automotive bushings with Whitby's FAI modification and Forte's bump steer elimination. Stops come courtesy of manual disc brakes, which pair aluminum PBR calipers with two 13-inch drilled and slotted rotors and two 11.65-inch drilled and slotted rotors. Power meets the pavement through anthracite Bullitt wheels, which twist 255/40ZR17 Nitto NT05 street radials in front of 315/35ZR17 Nitto NT05 drag radials. And items like a high-torque mini starter, a custom driveshaft hoop, a quality Canton oil pan and a Trick Flow differential cover round out the car's impressive build. INTERIOR Take one look at the accompanying specs sheet and you'll see that this roadster was built to keep. And even though its cockpit still honors the purist nature of a no-nonsense, track-shredding sports car, many well-planned details ratchet up both comfort and appeal. Lightweight Kirkey seats stretch tight leather hides under heavy-duty safety harnesses. In front of those seats, a super clean dash founds reliable Auto Meter Pro Comp Ultra Lite telemetry between a 12-volt outlet, two brake proportioning knobs and a self-canceling Russ Thompson turn signal switch. At the sides of that dash, lightweight doors hang Herb's custom panels inside Dark Water Customs sill trim. Below those doors, custom Loop Carpet anchors a North Racecars e-brake and Pro-5.0 shifter between a custom-dropped foot box and piped Factory Five floor mats. At the center of that carpet, a custom console balances stainless cupholders beneath crisp Alpine Type-S speakers. The formula is simple: take a modern, lightweight chassis, wrap it in high-quality, tight-fitting fiberglass, plant a hot Ford V8 between the fenders and enjoy whiplash-inducing performance. Built, polished and ready to roar, this Mark III roadster combines cool Shelby looks with all the right hardware to turn your knuckles white with excitement! The car's virtually flawless profile, showcasing the typically tight tolerances that have become a Factory Five hallmark, lays excellent groundwork for a wet looking coat of Ford Tungsten Gray 2-stage. Since pretty much every Cobra worth its salt needs to have some kind of war paint, the builder blended a classy pair of bright silver racing stripes. And today, this super slick Cobra is a sophisticated classic that exhibits twice the style and twice the race-bred DNA of a typical replicar boulevard cruiser. Speaking of sophistication, crude detailing is often the downfall of an otherwise excellent build. Not so with this roadster, as every aspect of its design enhances Shelby's innate style and appeal. At the front of the car, polished quick lifts reflect chrome-trimmed headlights, bullet-style parking lamps and a requisite Shelby emblem. Behind that emblem, a scooped, 1-piece hood flows to stainless-trimmed glass that's seated between polished wipers and Factory Five wind wings. Below those wings, finned air extractors, a bullet-style racing mirror and small "POWERED BY FORD" emblems float amid coated side pipes and a familiar Monza fuel filler. And at the back of the car, chrome-trimmed taillights illuminate a chrome roll bar, a second Shelby emblem, two more quick lifts and a lockable trunk handle. ENGINE When the original Cobra stormed the scene, team Shelby's mantra was all performance, all the way. And, while many reproductions hit the ground as sedate street cruisers, serious road chops require serious motor. Bored and stroked to a whopping 408 cubic inches, this roadster's serious chops come in the form of a spry, 351 cubic inch Windsor V8. The mean mill's energy mixture is supplied by a big Holley carburetor, which is sandwiched between an Edelbrock intake and traditional Cobra air cleaner. That mixture travels in to Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, which hang Cobra-branded valve covers and a Ford Racing breather over high quality roller rockers and forged Keith Black pistons. Combustion comes courtesy of a balanced and blueprinted rotating assembly, which is framed by a cast Eagle crank and Comp Xtreme Energy cam. The fires stay lit thanks to MSD 6AL ignition, an MSD distributor, a Pertronix coil and loomed Ford Racing plug wires. That fire is kept in check by a beefy aluminum radiator, which is mated to a big electric puller fan. A modern serpentine system spins a rebuilt alternator above an aluminum water pump while spent gases are cycled through ceramic-coated headers. And first rate details, like ARP bolts, stainless fluid lines and a liquid-filled Jegs fuel pressure gauge, ensure this classic is more than just a random curbside attraction. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION When it's time to put your hair in the wind, forget about outdated Toploader 4-speeds because this modern-day Cobra blisters the pavement with a fresh Tremec TKO600 5-speed. That world-class transmission utilizes a tough hydraulic clutch to spin a fresh, 8.8-inch Ford Racing pumpkin, which is fitted with 3.73 gears and high quality Moser axles. That drivetrain rides in a tubular, fabricated steel chassis that distills into a modern, multi-link suspension. That suspension is connected to four big calipers, which squeeze four vented discs. At the front of the car's aluminum floor, modern rack-and-pinion steering makes low speed cruising almost as easy as high-speed sweeps. Power meets the pavement through attractive Halibrand-style wheels, which twist 255/45ZR17 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 315/35ZR17 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs. And items like a deep-sump oil pan and clean Edelbrock fuel components round out the car's impressive build. INTERIOR Cobra interiors have always been stylish and simple, and one look inside this roadster reveals just how serious the car's aspirations are when it comes to being driver-focused. Sculpted seats stretch tight vinyl hides under 4-point Simpson safety harnesses. In front of those seats, a super clean dash founds classy telemetry beside a custom-engraved Cobra logo. At the sides of that dash, lightweight doors hang polished poppers behind requisite leather straps. Below those doors, clean carpet centers a booted e-brake and small shifter between Wilwood foot pedals and color-keyed Factory Five floor mats. The driver feels the asphalt through a polished steering wheel, which twists an authentic wood rim around a red, white and blue Cobra logo. And the passenger stows cargo in a spacious trunk that's fitted with a custom-engraved battery box. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING ACCESSORIESA cockpit cover With classic looks, a killer engine and a fully sorted, road-ready chassis, this awesome Cobra provides unmatched thrills for an unmatched price. It's the latest in our string of high quality Shelbys that look just as good as originals while benefitting from modern technology and 21st century build techniques. Don't miss this opportunity to own a turnkey Factory Five roadster that's just as nice as a real deal Cobra, and probably more fun to drive, at a fraction of the price! So of course we wish we had that rare gem today, but then again, this near perfect tribute is about as close as you can get to have some Nicholas Cage style fun. This car has all the great lines of the original Mustang, but there is no mistaking it for any secretary's car. The customization is apparent from every angle with a body kit by Unique Performance. It starts up front with the dual billet grilles that that make way for a new front bumper and racing lights. And speaking of lights, this also gets a custom set of fog lights and cool-blue driving lamps mounted in specially built front panel. The hood pins look like they were necessary to tame this beastly bulging hood (and we'll tell you exactly why they're needed a little later). The laser straight bodylines even have room to integrate the side exhaust pipes. Out back the flat rear panel and bumper have been de-chromed in true racer fashion. But even without this brightwork, Eleanor shines in many other ways. The superb silver paint with dual black racing stripes has enough gloss to be a mirror. Plus, the shine from 20-inch Boss wheels is enough chrome to grab everyone's attention. Take one look at the interior and you know Eleanor is a serious gal. Your seating is a set of Sparco racing buckets with a matching set of four-point harnesses. The three-spoke steering wheel has the old-school wood grain appearance, but with an upgrade for better grip. Behind it are new Pro-comp gauges that take the place of the original GT readouts. Eleanor might be a mean machine, but she also knows how to pamper (although you may not know it by the "GO BABY GO" text around the nitrous button on the shift knob). This is a power steering car with ice cold air conditioning, and power windows set in a custom center console. There's a Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo system that's iPod compatible. The amplifier in the trunk runs the massive speakers that you can hear at any speed. But really that's secondary, because your favorite soundtrack will always be exhaust booming from the beastly motor. While the original 1967 Shelby GT500s had a 427 cubic-inch engine, this super-snake has been super-sized with a 460 V8. Of course the upgrades don't stop there. This one is running an Edelbrock 650cfm double-pump carburetor and Performer intake. The inner workings of the engine have been fully rebuilt, including competition-style aluminum heads, new pistons, rings, rods, roller rocker arms, valves, and timing chain. Keeping the vital fluids flowing is a Holley electric water pump, single stage dry-sump oil pump, and a Be Cool aluminum radiator with electric fan. But out of all these performance upgrades, there is one that's the most obvious. Of course, we're talking about that NOS bottle that is in plain view of the back window. It's clearly visible to intimidate everyone, but that's just where the fun begins. The car is already wired with a missile-style safety switch for arming the gas bottle, and blast-off is via the red button on the stick shift just like in the movie! There's a five-speed manual transmission to make sure there are enough gears to keep up with a motor that can outrun everyone. Plus, this has a stout 9-inch Ford rear end that won't let you down. Traction is excellent with four-wheel disc brakes and the original 17-inch Cobra style wheels, but you can also elect to install the super sticky 20-inch Toyo Proxes 4 tires included in the later pictures instead. The seller will swap for your choice. Oh yeah, did we mention that this car only has 50 miles on the odometer since built? We were too busy telling you about all the lust worthy features to mention that you will be the one to really break in Eleanor. 1967 Ford Mustang for Sale 1967 Ford Mustang for Sale Stock # 3008-CHA Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] Tampa Showroom 4610 Pet Lane Lutz, FL 33559 Local/International: (813) 501-1630 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1. This one comes complete with a 5.0 that's built for combat, a fantastic color combination, and a long list of hardware that makes it a thrill to drive. If you're an immediate satisfaction kind of guy, take this one home and have fun. The kit is from Lonestar, but it's hard to call a car that was professionally built a "kit." All-new components were used in the build, so this isn't some cadaver-hunting expedition come to life, but a car that was designed to be the best right from the start. Fiberglass Cobra bodywork always needs a little finessing, so they invested the time to get it smoothed it out and everything lined up just right. Then they laid down the silver metallic base, along with slightly darker blue/gray stripes, then buried it all under a few coats of clear. That shine tells you that they also invested a week rubbing and buffing the finish until it had an inner glow that makes people stop in their tracks to get a second look. It's also got all the proper Cobra details, ranging from the oil cooler plumbed into the lower grille opening to the jacking stubs in place of the bumpers to the flip up gas cap out back. Lucas-style taillights make it look authentic, and what Cobra would be complete without a set of side pipes and a roll hoop? The black leather buckets with matching door panels put a distinctly British twist on the usual Cobra attire, but that's entirely appropriate considering that the Cobra was based on the English-built AC Ace. Those ties are tenuous at best with a reproduction Cobra like this, but those lovely leather hides are so buttery soft that you'll find it impossible to resist touching it every time you walk past this car. The wood-rimmed steering wheel is a reproduction unit that could pass for an original and works rather well with the engine-turned dash to create a period performance look. Attractive VDO instruments fill the dashboard in a simple array, and if you think you need a radio in your Cobra, you're probably doing it wrong. However, it does have a tilt steering column so it's easy to get comfortable behind the wheel. The trunk is nicely finished with black carpets and a trick cut-off switch for the rear-mounted battery. The engine is a tried-and-true 302 cubic inch Ford V8, which seems like the right choice in a Cobra like this. Equipped with an Edelbrock intake manifold and a matching 4-barrel carb, it definitely has the blasting powder to make this Cobra move like an original. It's also beautifully dressed in Cobra regalia and the professional build quality shows up in the neat wiring, clean plumbing and race-grade parts, not to mention the impeccable workmanship throughout. It's backed by a 5-speed manual transmission and a 9-inch rear end, so it's plenty rugged and up for some fun. The front suspension is A-arms with rack-and-pinion steering, and there's a disc brake at all four corners. Glittering American Racing rims look traditional yet wear modern 245/40/17 front and 315/35/17 rear Nitto performance radials. With just 7561 miles on the build, this is a high-quality Cobra that's ready to drive, show, and perform with no questions asked. From seven-figure originals to fiberglass replicas, the word "Cobra" can represent anything from a sinuous boulevard cruiser to a hardcore track star. With that in mind, every dynasty has a Sultan, and, for the Cobra, that Sultan is a classic like this awesome 427-powered roadster. A professionally built, turnkey stormer, this road-ready beast combines killer looks and excellent build quality with a level of performance that's tailor-made for highly skilled drivers. If you're searching for a quick twist on an old favorite, forget about project cars pieced together from leftovers. And forget about sloppy replica builds that shame their fabled predecessors. Call your friends at RK Motors Charlotte and pick up this razor-sharp snake! BODYWORK/TRIM Commissioned by Shelby American of Las Vegas, Nevada, CSX-4064 wears virtually flawless fiberglass that mixes great fit with a noise-free driving experience. Stiffly reinforced body panels feature the smooth surfaces and typically tight gaps we've come to expect from top-notch customs. The car's excellent finish is a testament to both OEM quality and the true talent and vision of its original builder. And, while few classics strike a perfect balance of outrageous looks, serious performance and excellent attention to detail, this Cobra's timeless red, white and blue aesthetics create a simply irresistible curve carver! Since the car is authentic enough to be listed in the Shelby American World Registry, you can rest assured that every aspect of this nouveau roadster enhances the original Cobra's innate style and appeal. At the front of its body, chrome-trimmed headlights and bullet-style parking lamps frame a classy Shelby emblem and Satin Black bumperettes. Behind that emblem, a lightweight hood centers a functional scoop in front of small wipers, tinted visors, chrome-trimmed glass and "COBRA" branded wind wings. Below those wings, coated side-pipes complement traditional 427 emblems, finned air extractors and a requisite Monza fuel filler. And at the back of the car, chrome-trimmed taillights illuminate a chrome roll bar, a second Shelby emblem, two more bumperettes and a lockable trunk handle. ENGINE Striking a pose is only one of this Cobra's skills; it also does a very good job of going fast and making a lot of noise! Built by Southern Automotive Engines of McDonough, Georgia, and installed by Finishline Motorsports of Las Vegas, Nevada, the car's balanced and blueprinted 427 features an increased stroke that nets a whopping 462 cubic inches of Ford power! At the top of that buff power source, a Stellings & Hellings air cleaner feeds a coated Holley 4150 carburetor that's tethered to a lightweight aluminum intake. At the sides of that carburetor, high performance Edelbrock heads ride below chrome "427 FORD COBRA" valve covers. Beneath those heads, a 4-inch stroke crank combines with a Crane cam, Manley H-beam rods and custom, forged pistons to create stout 10.2 to 1 compression. That compression gets sparked by Accel Hi-Temp Super Stock Spiral Core wires, which snake to a Motorcraft distributor that's wired to a hot MSD ignition system. Beneath those wires, application-specific headers roll charred dinosaurs in to the aforementioned side pipes. And in front of those headers, a big Fluidyne radiator circulates water around a large puller fan and painted overflow tank. You'll be happy to know that the clean V8 has been properly seated in a satin aluminum bay. And you'll be excited to see details, like hard fluid lines, a remote oil filter and chrome dress-up items, that round out a very impressive engine display. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION One of the best things about buying a high quality replica is the modern hardware underneath. Much sturdier than original Cobra fodder, this Shelby's ladder-style chassis and fully independent suspension are clean, lucid and ready to hit the road. Behind the engine, a rugged Toploader 4-speed jerks a Dana 44 rear end, which turns a limited-slip differential around mild, 3.54 gears. Those gears are countered by four manual calipers, which squeeze four solid discs. At the front of the car, old school manual steering provides an authentic driving experience. Power meets the pavement through familiar Trigo pin drives, which twist two 245/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As, and two 295/50R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As, around steel-winged knock-offs. And items like stainless fluid lines, adjustable coil-over-shocks and a deep-sump Canton oil pan provide the best of both form and function. INTERIOR Cobra interiors are usually stalwart and simple, but this roadster's lush leather cockpit is comfortable and appealing. Well-padded seats are firm, look as good as new and feature heavy duty Simpson harnesses for increased safety. In front of those seats, a color-keyed dash hangs a tight leather faade around a small mirror and a clean combination of Smiths and Lucas gauges. At the sides of that dash, lightweight doors are dressed in soft inserts and chrome handles. Below those doors, black carpet floats "COBRA" branded floor mats between a chrome hand brake, a chrome shifter, and Optima battery and a small fire extinguisher. In front of the driver, a wood-rimmed steering wheel spins highly polished spokes around a "COBRA" branded horn button. And behind the passengers, an aluminum-trimmed trunk hides ample space for cargo. With classic looks, a killer engine and a fully sorted chassis, this awesome roadster provides unmatched thrills for an unmatched price. It's the latest in our string of high quality Cobras that combine vintage style with modern technology and 21st century build techniques. About the RK Motors Performance Center Regardless if your vehicle is going through our Seal of Approval Exit Service, Basic Safety Check, routine maintenance or a full custom built to your exact specifications, the RKM Performance Center has the knowledge, experience and resources to fulfill your automotive needs. In the world of electronic fuel injection and computer diagnostics, even late model dealerships look a little uncomfortable working on pre-OBD1 cars. There are many independent mechanics and shops that may be able to help, but putting your prized classic in the hands of a stranger is a leap of faith at best. This is exactly why we created the RKM Performance Center. Being proud members of SEMA, ARMO, HRIA and the North Carolina Motorsports Association, the RKM Performance Center is a nationally recognized shop; best known for high level OEM restorations and custom builds. Comprised of ASE certified mechanics, including several Master Technicians, you can feel confident that your car is in capable hands. As fellow enthusiasts, they are passionate about cars and will treat yours with the respect it deserves. No longer saddled with trying to re-create a 1965 driving experience, cars like this Factory 5 Cobra roadster can now be modern-day supercars, street-legal weapons that have a vintage Cobra look but all the performance that modern technology can deliver. You already know that Factory 5 is putting out some of the best Cobras in the business and building one from scratch isn't a bad idea. But if you're the impatient type or a guy who doesn't feel like investing a small fortune in a custom build, then this car is right up your alley. It's beautifully finished and carries all the hardware that you'd use yourself, all wrapped in a professionally finished body that stops traffic wherever it goes. They spent a ton of time (AKA a big pile of cash) to get the fiberglass straight and then laid down a few coats of Torch Red paint that really makes this Cobra pop. On top of that, it got a set of black stripes that accurately replicate the original look, because a Cobra without stripes just isn't right. Details like the Lucas-style taillights, twin roll hoops, and jacking stubs out back suggest that it was built for combat, and the hardware underneath backs up this assumption. But from the look of the car as it sits today, we'd be shocked if it ever turned a wheel in anger. It's simply gorgeous! The interior definitely gets the Shelby thing right, with wrap-around buckets that look suitably vintage and a stubby shifter that's canted forward just right. So you'll get the Cobra experience from behind the wheel. But the gauges are big, handsome Auto Meter dials that watch all the vitals, including oil temperature, which is critical if you're using your Cobra on the track. Toggle switches, a fat leather-wrapped wheel, and leather check straps on the doors further blend the old and new. There's no radio, no heater, no A/C, but why would you want those in your Cobra anyway? Is it for your wife or something? No, this car is all about going fast and doing it with style, and in that regard it's a massive success. There are carpets to help control noise and heat and yes, the trunk is neatly upholstered using the same stuff. Big blocks get all the attention, but in a Cobra actually built to drive, a sweet-running 5.0 is really what you want. Less weight up front means razor-sharp handling and the 5.0's penchant for making torque is undiminished in this Cobra replica. There's a big 4-barrel carburetor up top, so it makes a wonderful intake moan at full tilt and the dress-up kit lends a bit of authenticity to the look. A big aluminum radiator keeps it cool, there's a reliable serpentine belt drive setup for the accessories, and satin black side pipes provide the same awesome soundtrack Cobra fans have enjoyed for 50 years (chrome side pipes are included with the car, but do you really need them?). A 5-speed manual gearbox provides an overdrive gear for somewhat relaxed high-speed cruising and there's a Mustang-spec 8.8-inch rear end out back. The suspension is full of upgraded components like tubular A-arms and coil-over shocks, so this isn't some cut-rate build, and massive disc brakes from a Mustang Cobra provide shockingly strong braking. Black Torque Thrust-style wheels are the perfect touch and they're wrapped in 275/40/17 front and 315/35/17 rear performance radials. So forget building your own, this one is available right now. Get in, turn the key, and be competitive at almost any level, show or track. That's what this Cobra does best.
