1956 Chevrolet convertible project or parts car. Car was built at the St.Louis, Missouri plant. Is an original V8 engine, Powerglide automatic car. The vin number starts off with VC56S. Original exterior colors are Pinecrest green and India ivory with 2 tone green interior. Have the original convertible cowl and vin tags. Original convertible body is rough and will require a solid donor car to build it. Have many new parts and also have a 56 4 door sedan 150 series doner/parts car with a nice solid frame to build the convertible with. Have a nice solid convertible X member for the frame. I was going to use the 4 door frame, cowl, rockers and trunk as the base to build the convertible with. Have a clear title in my name for the convertible. Parts car will come with written bill of sale only. Have collected many new and used parts over the years to build it. Have a correct 1956 , 265 ci Powerpack engine and rebuilt Powerglide auto trans. The engine is missing the air cleaner and will need rebuilt. The last 4 digits stamped on the block pad are 56FB, which is the code for Powerpack / Powerglide. Have a really nice correct 56 front split bench seat that will go with this sale at the Buy it Now price. Have all the exterior stainless trim and top bows. Have a new lower front splash pan, fender extensions, parking light backing panels, hood bar extensions and Gene Smith grill. Have a new 3 piece rear bumper assembly with guards. Have nice Belair front fenders from a dry Texas car. Have new Danchuck headlight bucket assemblies. Car is in pieces. I can get both cars up and rolling for loading and transporting. This car is the best of our pre-2000 collector cars and definitely our best 1957 (of four – including a 1500hp car). Unfortunately, it tends to sit on display just to be started and taken on very short trips. Here is a gorgeous 1955 Chevrolet Belair 4 door. First let me say I have a link to 100 pictures of the car below. You should just be able to click on the link and view a slide show. Hope they turned out great. :) I can’t say enough how great this car runs and drives. It cruises up and down the roads effortlessly and has plenty of power. Engine runs perfectly. The transmission shifts great. It has a new 350 Turbo Transmission that has less than 400 miles on it. Exhaust is all new also. It has a new distributor and electronic ignition. It has drum brakes and while they aren’t power they actually don’t take much effort to stop. It truly drives great. The exhaust is pretty loud and throaty. It sounds great. It has headers also. The engine is a Chevy 383 that the previous owner told has less than 10K miles on it rebuilt. I have a receipt for the head work and things like that also. It has a new Summit carb and intake. All fuel lines were replaced all the way back to the tank and a new fuel pump was installed and a new fuel filter. The tank was removed and thoroughly cleaned to get any debris that was in it out. Was refinished and looks great. It starts right up on the first crank and runs perfect. No smoke, or strange noises. Wheels are new and so are the tires. They complement the car well. I also had 2 freeze plugs replaced when I got the car. It also has a brand new starter too. Mechanically this car is ready to go cruise. Interior is in excellent condition. Carpet looks near new. Both front and rear seats are in excellent condition. Headliner is great. Dash is in great condition as well. All windows work great and glass is all in good condition. Even the smaller side windows work well. Doors all lock and close easily. All doors lock manually or with the key. I tried them all and they all operate like they should. It is a pet peeve of mine when a cars locks don’t work and the owner gives the excuse well if someone wants to steal it bad enough they will. That doesn’t fly with me. Hood and trunk open and close easy. Odometer says 3318. I am assuming it is 103318. The speedometer doesn’t work. I am assuming it is because it now has a Turbo 350 transmission now. The engine temperature gauge doesn’t work on the dash. There is a set of gauges below the glove box that shows the oil pressure and engine coolant temperature. It never runs hot and stays around 180 to 190. The oil pressure always reads strong too. Gauges work great. Brake lights work and so do turn signals. Head lights work too. Heater blower works too. It is a fairly recent paint job. I think it looks great. It isn’t an 8K paint job but is a nice couple thousand dollar paint job. Front bumper is brand new and the rear bumper is about a year old. The grill on the front is brand new. Just put it in the other day. The trim around wasn’t replaced. It is older and has pitting. The hood ornament is new also. There are a few imperfections that I took pics of one is the front trim around the logo the paint peeled a bit there and the other is on the passenger side Chevrolet logo. They used a lot of glue to hold the emblem on and you can see some glue residue behind the logo. I have some spare parts that go with the car too. I have the ring that operates the horn on the steering wheel. I have the paint separator trim. I have a nice trunk lid chrome emblem cover. I have the spare tire, jack and stands for it. Feel free to ask any ?’s. Please be serious though. I stay very busy and please respect my time. I can’t talk for an hour if you are just kicking the tires. It comes with its original 283 V-8, automatic transmission (Powerglide), power top, seat belts front and rear, floor mats, dual exhaust, fender skirts, dual mirrors, padded dash, stainless trunk trim, factory spinner wheel covers, wide whitewalls, and factory AM radio. This beautifully restored Bel Air convertible is close to factory specs, including its Larkspur Blue paint with Blue Vinyl interior. This car has been used in several films and commercials including the "Car Boss" series, and a promo film for the Tampa Bay area which ran for months on the big screens at the Tampa International Airport. This car is very stock, very well restored several years ago, and one of the nicest anywhere !! It is being sold out of a local stored collection of Classic and Muscle Cars.
