With most of the details worked out over the phone and email,I planned on making the 100 mile trek too see if we could finalize the deal on a Saturday. BODYWORK/TRIM After World War II, GM rolled out its Advance Design pickups nearly a full year ahead of its revised passenger cars. Why? Well, most agree that, because truck production continued throughout the war, the General's body dies were getting worn and needed replaced. It's a simple answer, and the kind of thinking you'd probably expect behind such a wonderfully uncomplicated machine. Naturally, this 3100's appeal begins on the outside where all-steel lines, memorable enough to inspire the Chevy HHR and SSR, are coated in a fantastic layer of Burgundy 2-stage. That paint, detailed with a Charcoal pinstripe, presents well from any angle, remaining a true testament to rock-solid bodywork that was conducted during the truck's no-holds-barred restoration. And everything adds up to one crisp and clean classic that's been finished to 100% show worthy standards! One of the best attributes of Advance Design pickups is their straightforward ornamentation. Not decorated to the hilt like most '40s and '50s cars, these blue-collar runabouts illustrate how solid design can remain fresh almost 70 years after it was introduced. At the front of this Chevy, a show-quality grille rides between a fresh chrome bumper, clean halogen headlights and a correctly trimmed hood. Behind that hood, a stainless-trimmed windshield leads a smoked greenhouse that's framed in bright, stainless wipers and a small driver's mirror. Introduced for use in large platforms, and regarded as one of the all-time great Chevrolet powerplants, this "LBA" branded mill is a favorite among vintage GM truck buyers because of its simple design, adequate power and excellent durability. At the top of the block, painted Weber carburetors mix wind, supplied by satin-finish air cleaners, with fuel that's piped through braided lines and high quality XRP fittings. Those carbs ride on a clean Fenton intake, which floats above cast Fenton exhaust manifolds. Opposite those manifolds, a fresh distributor, which sequences fire between MSD Heli-Core Solid Suppression wires and a polished, 12-volt alternator, twists on a tough Comp camshaft. A beefy radiator provides cooling with the help of a large pusher fan and polished cap. And items like a Delco-Remy starter, a silver, "Chevrolet" branded valve cover and a polished oil cap ensure the bright blue powerplant is very impressive to look at. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Crawling under this classy bowtie reveals body-matched floors and a powder-coated frame that have never seen the slightest hint of inclement weather. Power meets the pavement through a traditional Muncie 3-speed, which is tied to a 10-bolt, highway-friendly rear end. Correct leaf springs and big drum brakes occupy all four corners of the chassis, mixing rugged road prowess with firm and solid stops. A polished, dual-pipe exhaust system, which is wired to a polished Patrick's muffler, runs the entire length of the truck. Everything rolls on chrome steel wheels, which turn 245/60R15 Goodyear Eagle STs around "CHEVROLET" branded hubcaps. Mixing a massaged small block and modern GM 4-speed with bodywork that'll sit well on any show field, this road-ready warrior is worthy of EVERY Chevrolet fan's full attention. If you're shopping for a clean classic that mixes modern detailing with purposeful simplicity, take a close look at this slick 3100! BODYWORK/TRIM A solid canvas that was ready to reflect some smooth street rod art, this super cool pickup benefitted from a ground-up, nut and bolt build that was designed for the street or the show. In addition to top-notch restoration, the truck's sculpted body was supplemented with custom inner fenders, wider wheel tubs, and a cut, smoothed and filled firewall. With that labor-intensive groundwork laid, a smoothed hood and custom roll pan framed a smoothed tailgate, shaved mirrors and a billet-trimmed Curly Maple bed. That slick fuselage eventually made its way to Washington's Whipple Motorsports for a seamless coat of Deep Black Gloss 2-stage. And, when that wet-looking pigment dried, finishing touches included modern headlights, amber parking lamps, capped wipers, tinted glass and bright LED taillights. ENGINE Toss the hood and you'll find a 358 cubic inch, fuel injected small block that, according to this Chevy's builder, creates healthy 10 to 1 compression. At the top of that polished and painted mill, custom, polished aluminum air tubes feed GM tuned port injection, which is seated between stainless fluid lines and a high quality Lokar throttle linkage. Below that linkage, free-breathing heads hide Comp roller rockers under polished, white-detailed valve covers. Fires get lit by fresh EZ Wiring, which jolts MSD Street Fire plug wires. Cooling comes courtesy of a Griffin aluminum radiator, which rides between a chrome puller fan, a polished expansion tank and a custom-fabricated support cover. Spent gases exit through ceramic-coated shorty headers. A Billet Specialties Tru Trac accessory drive spins an Edelbrock water pump between a polished AC compressor and polished Powermaster alternator. And the truck's glossy, body-matched engine compartment is exceptionally well done, with items like chrome dipsticks, polished hood hinges and a custom-fabricated engine cover rounding out an otherwise impressive build. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Crawling under this old school bowtie reveals a fresh double A-arm/4-link suspension that's been augmented with polyurethane bushings, tubular control arms and adjustable coil-over-shocks. Behind the small block, a 700R4 4-speed bridges the gap between a 10-bolt axle and 2,500 RPM stall converter. That familiar drivetrain pushes heavily undercoated floors on a body-matched chassis. Unisteer electronic power rack-and-pinion steering provides tracking. Quick stops are a cinch thanks to power-assisted, Aerospace Components calipers, which squeeze big drilled and slotted rotors. The aforementioned headers breathe through fabricated, crimp-free pipes, which hang welded, dual-chamber mufflers in front of polished, quad-outlet tips. At the corners of the chassis, polished Coys wheels twist 245/40ZR18 Falken Azenis in front of 315/35R20 Falken Azenis. And everything, from the truck's Milodon oil pan to its relocated fuel tank, is well planned, well executed and ready to work its magic! INTERIOR When you pop this pickup's doors, you'll find a stylish custom cockpit that's laced with plush, ultraleather surfacing. Top dead center, cushy bucket seats appear to be 90s-era GM pieces. In front of those seats, a smoothed dash hangs Classic Instruments Tach-Force gauges above Streamline controls for the truck's Vintage Air climate system. BODYWORK/TRIM The product of high quality restoration that was conducted by two body shops, this slick wagon features a lust worthy appearance that's ready to burn down the Manufacturers' Midway! The build began when Steve's Auto Restorations of Portland, Oregon replaced the car's factory lead and sealed everything in a thick coat of protective primer. With a solid foundation laid, Steve Cooley Motors of Homosassa, Florida followed subtle modification with a custom combination of Corvette LeMans Blue and Cadillac Sand Effect DuPont Chroma Premier 2-stage. And today, countless hours and over six-figures later, this Chevy rolls as a lights-out show car that's been deservedly fawned over by some of the biggest names in the business. As a classic car owner, you really can't go wrong with any '50s Chevy. But for many people, the division's '57 model essentially perfected the art. Take a look at this gorgeous wagon and you'll see no less than 22 one-of-a-kind details that walk a fine aesthetic line between the timeless look of factory fodder and the radical, sometimes cheeky appearance of fiberglass recreations. At the front of the car, a recessed grille bar floats between modern headlamps, a filled bumper and a shaved and flattened hood. At the back of that hood, stainless-framed glass rides between modified drip rails, shaved vent windows, polished mirrors and Chevy 150 door trim. ENGINE As young car guys, most of us are taught that talking the talk means we'd better walk the walk. And when it comes to talking the talk, this sedan's inability to shut up can be directly attributed to the walking ability afforded by its 502 cubic inch GM Performance Parts big block. Twisting stout 9.75 to 1 compression into roughly 550 horsepower, the car's show-detailed mill is a logical testament to the old rule: more cubic inches equals more horsepower. A perfect air/fuel mixture is supplied by a K&N-toothed Billet Specialties air cleaner and 780cfm Quick Fuel carburetion. That dynamic duo rides on a ported and coated Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake, which is bolted between ported and coated Chevrolet heads. Those heads hang polished and color-keyed valve covers over Crower roller rockers, custom Comp pushrods and high quality Crane lifters. Those lifters are tapped by a Crane cam, which is sequenced to loomed Taylor plug wires and an MSD Pro-Billet distributor. Spent gases roar through large exhaust pipes via custom William's headers. At the front of those headers, a familiar Vintage Air FrontRunner system spins a polished Stewart water pump between a Tuff Stuff alternator, a Sanden AC compressor and a Detroit Speed power steering pump. And that water pump feeds a beefy Griffin radiator that's wedged between Flex-a-lite puller fans and a Be Cool condenser. Visually, the Energy-mounted block rides in a smoothed and massaged engine bay that displays OEM-level attentiveness to both engineering and assembly. And details like Billet Specialties breathers, Billet Specialties hose clamps, a Billet Specialties water neck, ARP bolts, Fel-Pro gaskets and a Moroso dipstick create a clean and purposeful aesthetic. DRIVETRAIN Take a look under this tire-shredding courier and you'll find a custom, Luxo-Blue chassis that's ready for the strip or the turntable. Behind the big engine, a GM 700R4 4-speed spins between a high performance ProTorque torque converter and Coleman aluminum driveshaft. That driveshaft twists a proven Dutchman 9-inch that rocks an Auburn posi-traction differential around 3.55 gears and 31-spline axles. Those gears push the car on a trick Ridetech 4-link that's fitted with adjustable Ridetech air shocks. Opposite that 4-link, a Kimbridge Enterprises sub-frame makes good use of Belltech drop spindles, Global West control arms, a Flaming River quick-ratio steering box and two more adjustable Ridetech air shocks. At the corners of that modern suspension, hydroboosted Baer calipers bridge the gap between an SSBC master cylinder, and drilled and slotted rotors. And power meets the pavement through attractive Budnik Cannons, which spin 245/40ZR18 Falken FK452s in front of 255/40ZR19 Falken FK452s. INTERIOR Pop the shaved doors and you'll find a substantially tweaked interior that was installed by Great 8 guru Dale Van Curen's Unlimited Designs. Front and center, '67 GTO buckets wrap bright stainless trim around creamy Doe hides. In front of those seats, a chrome-lined dash hangs a rebuilt clock, Vintage Air climate control and a Custom Autosound head unit beside traditional Classic Instruments gauges. BODYWORK/TRIM The great thing about '55-'57 Chevys is that you can customize them any way you want. On the other hand, the terrible thing about '55-'57 Chevys is that you can customize them any way you want. Truly spectacular tri-fives are much less common than their vast production numbers would suggest, but when they're as well done as this double nickel, they tend to stand out from the pack. Sure, the car's flashy Gypsy Red paint certainly helps in achieving that effect, but it is a very traditional color. And when combined with flowing sheetmetal, 50s-era trim and Shoreline Beige uppers, it goes from flashy to classically elegant. ENGINE Pop the hood and you'll find a reliable, 350 cubic inch small block that's been bored .030 over, fitted with a hot Crane cam and equipped with traditional flattop pistons. Revs are created when a chrome, bowtie-topped air cleaner floats wind in to a coated Edelbrock carburetor and aluminum Edelbrock intake. At the perimeter of that intake, 76cc heads hang hardened valve seats under chrome Edelbrock rocker covers and a bowtie-branded breather. Behind that breather, a modern HEI distributor shoots spark through loomed Moroso Super Stock plug wires. Below those wires, trick manifolds take care of spent gases while traditional V-belts spin an upgraded alternator between modern air conditioning and modern power steering. And in front of those ancillaries, a beefy Be Cool radiator fronts a giant SPAL puller fan. Despite being a thoroughly modernized piece, the Chevy Orange mill looks right at home in the car's Satin Black engine compartment. From the Advance Design series to the C3XXs, every generation has transformed a solid clientele of buyers into a devout following of gearheads. Last week, when Chevy debuted the Tahoe Z71, we couldn't help but think about all the great milestones the brand has enjoyed. And this low-slung C10, part of the marque's long-running C/K Series, is truly in a class by itself. The beneficiary of a professional, frame-off restoration, this award-winning piece of Americana wraps a stout LS6/6-speed drivetrain and neck-breaking curb appeal in enough blue-collar chic to convert fans anywhere. If you're ready to experience a truck that puts the "T" in TOUGH, take a long look at this super cool Chevy! As far as styling goes, few vehicles have aged better than late '60s and early '70s Chevrolets. In fact, toeing the line between rock-solid and refined, the Action Line C/K is probably one of the most attractive trucks ever built. Making the best of that model's extended proportions, this Fleetside C10 seals slick black paint under a glossy clearcoat shell. That sinister two-stage highlights a laser-straight body, which is the result of a lot of time and, more than likely, a significant chunk of money. That seamed body's small amount of metalwork is, from the outside of its panels, completely undetectable. And best of all, those panels remain just as GM designed them, with nothing shaved, frenched, filled or altered in any major way. I say "any major way" because, admittedly, there are some cool details that really make this build pop. The 2011 reboot began with a clean billet grille which hangs bright halogen headlights above a broad chrome bumper and LED parking lamps. Behind that grille, a tasteful cowl induction hood anchors flowing "Fuel Injection" scripts in front of tinted glass that's centered in silver wipers and straight stainless frames. At the sides of that glass, chrome door handles and vivid Chevrolet emblems float among a frenched antenna, LED marker lamps and veneered profile trim. And at the back of the truck, a "C H E V R O L E T" branded tailgate hides a custom wood bed between LED tail lights and a second chrome bumper. When it comes to V8s, few can match the storied performance and rock-solid reliability of GM's Generation III small block. What started as standard Corvette fodder has evolved into some of the most versatile, best bang-for-the-buck power on the planet. And the variant found under this pickup's hood is a hotted up LS6 crate engine that's been punched out to 383 cubic inches by the great John Lingenfelter. At the top of the motor, a chromed Weiand intake feeds matched, ported and polished heads. At the sides of that intake, GM's familiar fuel rail covers display custom, Cheyenne-themed graphics over glossy red paint. In front of those covers, a chromed billet serpentine system spins a chrome alternator and AC compressor above a polished water pump. In front of that pump, a polished Street & Performance air box features a big, reusable filter element. That element breathes thanks to ceramic-coated headers, which mix ample sound with ample torque. There's a polished aluminum radiator that's fitted with two efficient puller fans. Charcoal metallic fenders combine with braided fluid lines, a chrome master cylinder and sleeved Super Conductor plug wires to detail an otherwise purpose-built performer. And the truck's tidy block sports a thick coat of brilliant red paint that perfectly contrasts, black flex hoses, a black firewall and a body-matched core support. Crawl under this rig and you'll find a fully restored undercarriage that's barely been assembled long enough to amass its first layer of dust. The floors wear a fresh coat of black undercoating, which looks great against the red engine and silver drivetrain components. At the center of that drivetrain, a hydraulic clutch funnels torque through a modern, 6-speed transmission to a Currie 9-inch that's equipped with beefy, 3.73 gears. Fluid power steering makes quick work of turns while power-assisted discs bring everything to a quick halt. The aforementioned headers dump spent gases into ceramic-coated side pipes, which employ an X-shaped crossover and burly Borla mufflers. The truck's powdercoated chassis rides long, lean and low thanks to tough drop spindles, thick sway bars and traditional traction bars. That stance clears 20-inch Foose wheels, which spin 255/50 Hankook Ventus AS in front of 295/45 Hankook Ventus AS. And a stainless, relocated fuel tank rounds out a roster of very impressive hardware. In the '70s, trucks were all about comfort and utility not DVDs, wireless and navigation systems. That's why it's so refreshing to hop in the cab of this purposeful but nicely appointed Cheyenne. The stars of the show are Saddle leather buckets that definitely up the style quotient. Below those buckets, stain-free carpet is stretched tight between Dynamat insulation, billet foot pedals and low-maintenance floor mats. Above that carpet, wood-trimmed door panels found big Infinity speakers beneath clever power windows and reliable power door locks. Opposite those doors, a wood-trimmed console backs a curved Hurst shifter. Opposite that console, a stainless-trimmed headliner rides behind a clean chrome mirror. Steering is channeled through a polished and half-wrapped wheel, which spins around a tilting Ididit column. And at the front of the cockpit, a stylish dash hangs fully digital gauges beside modern air conditioning and an MP3-compatible Alpine head unit. And presently, decked in classic white on black war paint, this award-winning Chevy is the product of an extensive, body-off restoration that fostered a return to factory glory and then some. If you're looking to own one of the world's most sought after muscle cars, this show stopping Super Sport is sorted, polished and ready to please! BODYWORK/TRIM Hailing from GM's acclaimed Kansas City manufacturing facility, this stunning LS5 Super Sport is the beneficiary of a high quality, body-off restoration that's so nice it schools factory survivors. After professional metalwork, which resulted in a straight and solid profile, the car's panels were layered in correct Tuxedo Black basecoat, accented with Classic White rally stripes and sealed in a thick clearcoat shell. Once that clearcoat was allotted sufficient drying time, its surfaces were sanded and buffed into a ripple-free finish that's literally as smooth as glass. And today, this top dog Chevelle sits as a spectacular piece of iconic American muscle that's detailed to better-than-new standards. Many enthusiasts believe the '70 Chevelle introduced a host of excellent refinements that transformed the 'good' design of Chevrolet's '69 model into something 'great'. At the front of this sinister coupe, a familiar crossbar grille hangs a prominent "SS" emblem between a small "CHEVELLE" script, four stainless-trimmed T3s and a fresh chrome bumper. Above that bumper, a functional cowl induction hood anchors rebuilt hide-a-way wipers between new glass, traditional lanyards and pristine stainless trim. At the base of that trim, bright "SS454" badges combine with straight wheel frames, traditional door handles and a flashy chrome mirror to add visual detail to the car's liquid smooth profile. ENGINE In 1970, if you wanted a top-of-the-line Chevelle, you had two options. You could order an LS6 car and put up with a moody, uncivilized big block that didn't like running accessories. Or you could order an LS5 car and have a nicely optioned, well-rounded performer that stomped pretty much anything on the street. Either way you'd have an awesome ride, but the irony of the situation is: LS5 cars are actually RARER than LS6 cars! Rolling out of the factory with an impressive 360 horsepower and massive 500 lb./ft. of torque, this Chevelle's correct LS5 454 is fully rebuilt and ready for show. At the top of the big engine, a functional cowl induction system forces wind into a single-snorkel air cleaner that's cinched to a familiar Quadrajet carburetor. At the sides of that carburetor, mirror-like valve covers loom new Packard TV R Suppression cables above correct heads and fully restored exhaust manifolds. At the back of those manifolds, a traditional points distributor stands between a new wiper motor and fresh Delco Moraine brake booster. Opposite that booster, a shrouded radiator circulates water through new GM hoses and reproduction tower clamps. And at the side of those clamps, a fresh Delco Energizer jolts a newly rebuilt alternator. Naturally, the car's Satin Black engine bay and Chevy Orange block are highlighted by a series of factory-accurate markings. And all of the engine's belts, hardware and stainless lines are in the kind of excellent, showroom-fresh condition that ensures big points and great performance. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION In case you're wondering, the bottom of this Chevelle is just as clean and correctly restored as its straight body panels and pristine engine bay. The car's rust-free floors are covered in slick Red Oxide. Its fully restored F41 heavy duty suspension, which includes thicker coils, heavy duty shocks, a larger diameter front sway bar, a standard rear sway bar, boxed rear control arms and upper rear cross braces, appears to be in better-than-new condition. Behind the big block, a rugged Muncie Rock Crusher twists power to a 12-bolt, posi-traction rear axle that's built around familiar, 3.31 gears. At the sides of that drivetrain, a chambered, true-dual exhaust system funnels charred dinos through small resonators and spotless stainless tips. At the sides of that exhaust, power front disc and rear drum brakes combine with traditional power steering to provide modern handling ability. At the sides of those brakes, attractive Super Sport wheels spin great looking F70-14 Goodyear Polyglas Custom Wide Treads around clean, "SS" branded center caps. And while this Chevy's specs sound pretty straight forward, the quality of its restoration is simply remarkable! Wrapping a 604 cubic inch big block in a custom chassis and swaths of stitched leather, this sinister land rocket puts a white-glove twist on blue-collar dynamics. BODYWORK/TRIM The beneficiary of a thorough, ground-up restoration that was completed in late 2013, this razor-sharp Rally Sport wears a clean and solid body under slick Tuxedo Black 2-stage. And, despite its custom drivetrain, the car's trim and ornamentation is a stylish mix of familiar Chevrolet attributes. Up front, a billet Rally Sport grille hangs electric headlights above a Satin Black bumper, clear Rally Sport parking lamps and an aggressive, carbon fiber spoiler. Behind that grille, a Camaro-branded header leads the eye to a carbon fiber Stinger Hood, which centers exposed weave striping in front of dark-tint glass and straight, Satin Black trim. At the sides of the car, factory doors found satin F2 mirrors and Fesler-supplied handles between satin marker lamps, shaved fenders and satin rocker spears. The mean engine's growl originates when wind whips from custom, carbon fiber air tubes in to a fabricated, ram jet-style intake. That wind fuses with fossils thanks to quality Hogan fuel injection, which is hooked to braided fluid lines, a small Aeromotive pressure gauge, a familiar Aeromotive regulator and proven F.A.S.T programming. The resulting air/fuel mixture makes its way to quality Air Flow Research heads, which are topped with custom, brushed aluminum valve covers. When the juice hits the cylinders, a hot MSD Pro-Billet distributor shoots fire through sleeved Accel Ferro-Spiral plug wires, which snake around coated Dynatech headers. Cooling for that fire comes courtesy of a massive aluminum radiator that's anchored between a custom cowl and quick-spinning electric puller fans. And, fluid for that cooling system is provided by an aluminum Stewart water pump that, along with a polished alternator and coated AC compressor, spins on high quality Vintage Air FrontRunner components. The buff mill is exceptionally impressive, centering its Jet Black block between carbon fiber fenders, hydraulic Fesler hood supports and contoured Fesler braces. And details, like trick, color-keyed dipsticks, a small Wilwood clutch reservoir and a familiar Wilwood master cylinder, convey the kind of acute build quality that elicits immediate stares. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Take a look under this tire shredding pony car and you'll find a fully restored chassis that's ready for the strip or the street. Behind the big engine, a Tremec TKO600 5-speed utilizes a stout hydraulic clutch to spin a tough Keisler driveshaft, which is connected to a Strange 9-inch axle and big, 3.73 gears. Under that driveline, a proven Heidts suspension makes good use of tubular control arms, modern coil-overs, thick sway bars and power rack-and-pinion steering. At the corners of that suspension, four Wilwood calipers clamp drilled and slotted rotors with the help of Hydratech hydraulics. Charred dinosaurs float from the aforementioned headers to a series of large-diameter pipes, which position an H-shaped crossover in front of aggressive SpinTech mufflers. Power meets the pavement through 18-inch Rocket Racing Boosters, which spin 245/40 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 265/40 Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials. And the car's fresh, Satin Black floors are finished with stainless fluid lines, a deep-sump oil pan, a high quality mini starter and Heidts Pro-G subframe connectors. INTERIOR Open this Chevy's tight-fitting doors and you'll find a highly customized interior that wraps 21st century style in a nice blend of comfort and convenience. The car's firm, power adjustable seats, lifted from a modern GTO, have been completely covered in supple Saddle hides. Trends come, go, and eventually cycle back twenty years later after they've been deemed officially "vintage". Some builders strive to create cars that offer the flavor of the day while others simply look on from a distance, pick the pieces they truly like, and create one-of-a-kind cars like this 1931 Chevrolet five-window coupe. While it features plenty of modern must-haves like air ride and a Corvette LS6, choices like the unique graphics and custom interior underscore the fact that this bowtie marches to its own beat. The beneficiary of a frame-off restoration, this Chevrolet offers a quality build consisting of only the best parts. If you're looking for a fun, comfortable, and totally unique hot rod to hit the town in, this 5-window is for you! BODYWORK/TRIM To answer the most obvious question yes, it's an original body. Survival rates for these cars are relatively low thanks to GM's "composite body" construction which paired hardwood and steel together under the guise of safety. Thankfully, styling was handled a bit better. This coupe remains in its original proportions but there are a few noteworthy body modifications to mention. For starters, the door handles have been shaved for a cleaner look. The hood has been louvered and the running boards have been smoothed and widened to accommodate the side-exit exhaust. The mostly-stock lines present better than ever thanks to some quality body work and a seriously bright top coat. The base color is an attention-grabbing shade of red topped by custom yellow and orange graphics. The paintwork shows well and ensures this coupe will never get lost in the crowd. Like any good street rod, a closer inspection reveals plenty of interesting details throughout. The front end remains true to stock form with a mirror-like chrome grille topped by a falcon hood ornament. A pair of large round headlights perch atop an arched cross-member while, below, a factory-style chrome bumper shows as new. The split hood is still in place, dressed with some fresh hardware and the aforementioned louvers that grace either side. A visor caps the greenhouse, shading a new windshield matched by new glass all around. Power wipers maintain that windshield while a faux rag top adds some style to the roof. The rear window has also been modified to roll down for some extra ventilation. Aside from the yellow and orange graphics, the profile remains fairly straightforward even the Fisher Body tag is still present. The sloped rear is capped by correct Chevlite taillights which offer space for dual satellite radio antennas. At either side, a two-piece chrome bumper frames the styled fuel tank cover. ENGINE In 1931, Chevrolet had a distinctive edge with their Stovebolt Six. Displacing 194 cubic inches, the engine utilized 5.02:1 compression and a single Carter one-barrel carb to produce 50hp and roughly 120-lbs. ft. of torque significantly more than their 4-cylinder rivals. This '31 retains the upper hand thanks to an LS6 V8 that has been fitted between the frame rails. Based on the beloved LS1, the all-aluminum small block starts with a cast aluminum block filled with a hollow steel cam, cast nodular iron crank, powder metal rods, and other lightweight pieces. It's then topped with aluminum heads, a composite intake, and sophisticated fuel injection which help the modern V8 achieve 405hp and 400-lbs. ft. of torque. At the front of the engine, billet pulleys turn a modern accessory drive which includes a chrome alternator and air conditioning compressor. The firewall has been modified and smoothed for clearance while details like chrome flex hoses, a chrome throttle body, stainless and aluminum brackets, and braided stainless offer worthy surroundings for the LS motor. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Take a look underneath this coupe to find even more high-end hardware. The foundation is a boxed and painted frame which has been updated with a tubular X-member. All lines are run neatly along the frame rails and look new in every way. In the center, a GM 4-speed automatic transmission spins power back to a Ford 8-inch rear end. Around the drivetrain, the suspension has received all the best modern updates. The front end sports painted tubular A-arms which work in conjunction with a pair of air springs to offer a fully adjustable ride height. The rear end is equally malleable thanks to a painted tubular 4-link and a second set of air springs. The air ride setup is controlled by a digital interface on the dash. All tanks, compressors, and air lines are tucked neatly out of sight. The steering is especially adept thanks to a manual rack-and-pinion unit while four-wheel disc brakes rein in the LS6 with ease. At the corners, a set of 15-inch Boyd Coddington wheels meet the road through fat 215/65R15 and 295/50R15 BFG Radial T/A tires. INTERIOR Pop open the doors to find a luxurious custom leather interior full of modern components. The most obvious starting point is the bright red steel dash which features a full set of sleek digital gauges. To the left of the instrument cluster, controls for the air ride setup stay within easy reach. To the right, a digital interface offers control of the heater and air conditioning system. In-flight entertainment comes courtesy of a Pioneer head unit which sends signal to speakers throughout, including two JL subs mounted in the trunk. Control of the front wheels is offered by a Grant steering wheel which tops a brushed aluminum tilt column. The aluminum is matched by the trim found on the pedals below. Seating for two is provided by attractive bucket seats wrapped in tan leather and divided by a custom console that flows from the dash, terminating beneath the rear window. A B&M shifter extends through the floor, offering authority over that transmission below. At either side, a custom leather headliner matches leather door panels for a cohesive look throughout. Behind the passenger compartment, the sloped decklid conceals more custom leather work matched by tan carpet below. HISTORY/BODY It's no secret that Chevrolet is an automotive division founded by, and named after, a prominent racecar driver. To celebrate the rampant success of the brand's NASCAR teams, GM decided to produce limited edition Monte Carlos that honored fans' favorite drivers. Without a doubt, Dale Earnhardt, a man whose name is virtually synonymous with the word Chevrolet, was one of the fans' most respected icons. The Intimidator project was initiated in 1998, when Earnhardt debuted the Intimidator Concept at the North American International Auto Show to preview NASCAR's influence on the sixth generation Monte Carlo. The first production Intimidator was essentially a run of 3,333 stripe-and-decal packages made available on the just adequate 2002 Monte Carlo SS. Then in 2004, when GM finally decided to gift the car their much-lauded supercharged V6, production ramped for 4,000 much-improved Intimidators. In addition to the hotter engine, now officially dubbed the Monte Carlo Supercharged SS, the car received an upgraded interior, an enhanced suspension and unique aesthetics. Naturally, a lot of Black paint was in order. NASCAR-style ground effects perfectly complemented a NASCAR-style deck spoiler. Red Chevrolet bowties joined red and silver "Intimidator SS" badging that could be found on the car's decklid and, in typical Monte Carlo fashion, just in front of the rear tires. And bright exhaust tips looked good trailing chrome, diamond-cut wheels. Logging only 6,522 miles over the course of 12 years, this particular 2004 Intimidator SS remains in great condition. And, aside from the car's "Intimidator" windshield banner and requisite Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet dealer decal, it rolls just as it left the showroom. DRIVETRAIN As you've probably gleaned, the sixth generation Monte Carlo was factory-equipped with GM's beefy 3800 Series II V6. And when customers checked the box for a top-option Supercharged SS, the car came equipped with a proven Eaton blower. Internally dubbed the L67, this relatively light engine is a highly reliable piece that has an excellent reputation for strong internals and impressive power. Behind the growling mill, a proven GM 4T65E-HD 4-speed makes excellent use of big displacement torque. That drivetrain rides on a wide MacPherson Strut performance suspension, which mixes standard traction control with a 10mm-reduced ride height. Stops are provided by large, power-assisted discs, which benefit from standard ABS technology. Exhaust rolls to bright stainless tips via stainless, factory-spec pipes. Power flows through diamond-cut, Intimidator-spec blades, which twist 235/55R17 Goodyear Eagle RS-As around familiar red bowties. And overall, this Chevy is an absolute delight to drive, serving as a high-water mark for the large, comfortable coupe niche that has all but disappeared. INTERIOR This sculpted Monte's sporty leather interior begins with Earnhardt-branded seats that feature 6-way power adjustment for the car's driver. In front of those seats, an Intimidator-branded dash hangs an optional 200-watt sound system between dual-zone climate control and trademark, Earnhardt-branded instrumentation. At the center of that dash, a narrow console founds a monochromatic shifter on clean carpet, color-keyed floor mats and brash Intimidator sills. Above those sills, simple door panels frame power windows, power door locks and power mirrors. A tilting, leather-wrapped steering wheel keeps cruise control and audio selection at the driver's fingertips. And a cavernous trunk continues the car's roomy theme. That pigment rides under factory-spec trim, which reflects like-new glass and a tight white top. ENGINE Since this Bel Air is more parade queen than stoplight warrior, it should come as no surprise that the car's 265 cubic inch Super Turbo Fire V8 is essentially a gimmick-free exercise in factory accuracy and antique showmanship. Look to the top of the mill and you'll find a reliable Rochester carburetor that mixes oxygen from an oil bath air cleaner with fuel that's supplied by stainless fluid lines and a traditional mechanical pump. At the sides of that carburetor, stamped and silver-detailed valve covers cap restored exhaust manifolds that are piped in to free-breathing tubes. Behind that carburetor, a traditional points distributor shoots fire through loomed Mileage Plus plug wires. And in front of that carburetor, a tagged radiator circulates coolant through GM-branded hoses and authentic squeeze clamps. In addition to its smooth powerplant, the fully detailed engine bay features dual horns, a Delco-Remy generator and a tagged Delco yellow cap battery. And aesthetically, Satin Black fenders bridge the gap between the mill's deep red block and the car's Harbor Blue exterior. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION As is the case with most '50s-era GM cruisers, that engine is backed by a familiar Powerglide 2-speed, which sends torque to a highway-friendly rear end. That rebuilt drivetrain rides a completely restored suspension, which, along with the car's tight manual steering and firm drum brakes, provides a great combination of old school ride and handling characteristics. That clean suspension rolls traditional wire wheels, which twist 205/75R15 Coker Classic whitewalls. An authentic 'snap, crackle, pop' engine note is provided by throaty turbo mufflers. Out back, an aftermarket sway bar frames a fresh stainless fuel tank. And in a break with tradition, this Bel Air's solid floors have been sealed in a thick layer of Harbor Blue pigment. INTERIOR Featuring a pleasant array of accents, this tri-five's correct, 2-tone interior is one of its most impressive traits. At the center of the car, firm bench seats wear taut vinyl skin that's highlighted by bright chrome hardware. In front of those seats, a classy dash hangs clean, bowtie-branded gauges next to a simple, pushbutton radio. BODYWORK/TRIM As far as styling goes, few vehicles have aged better than late '60s and early '70s Chevrolets. In fact, toeing the line between rock-solid and refined, the Action Line C/K is probably one of the most attractive trucks ever penned. Built to dominate the ISCA show circuit, this awesome C10 seals custom Bahama Blue and Galaxy Silver paint under custom Scott Brown airbrushing and multiple layers of wet-sanded clear. That detailed pigment highlights a laser-straight body, which is the direct result a $150K rotisserie restoration completed by Hot Rods by Rohrer's of Burlington Kansas. That clean body's top-notch metalwork is, from the outside of its panels, completely undetectable. And best of all, those panels remain just as GM designed them, with nothing frenched, filled or altered in any major way. That said; there are some cool details that really make this build pop. The reboot began with a billet grille, which hangs bright halogen headlights above a mirrored bumper and factory parking lamps. Behind that grille, a cowl induction hood leads the eye to smoked, stainless-trimmed glass that's centered between polished wipers, a chrome antenna and a small cargo light. At the sides of that glass, the truck's patriotic profile has been shaved of everything but traditional door handles, sleek mirrors and classy marker lamps. Inside that profile, polished hardware secures an Oak bed, which utilizes 14 coats of finish to reflect a custom stake pocket fuel filler. And at the back of that bed, a stamped tailgate complements trim-free taillights and a second mirrored bumper. ENGINE Crack this Chevy's engine compartment and you'll find a glowing powerplant that features a nice mix of polished and triple-plated componentry. The nucleus of that componentry is a 350 cubic inch Corvette block that's been fitted with Street & Performance Tuned Port Injection. When chrome fuel rails sync with a quality Lokar throttle linkage, a mirrored air cleaner sends oxygen in to polished Brodix heads that are capped with polished breathers and polished valve covers. Those heads hide a Comp High Energy cam that breathes through coated Dynaflow headers. Combustion is sparked by a familiar HEI distributor, which sequences fire through thick MSD Super Conductor plug wires. At the front of those wires, a polished Street & Performance serpentine system spins mirrored pulleys, a chrome AC compressor and a polished alternator. And in front of those ancillaries, a polished aluminum radiator hangs a bowtie-branded cap between corrugated hoses, a polished fluid reservoir, a big puller fan and a billet-topped battery. Visually, the hot small block rides in a smooth, color-keyed bay that's complete with smoothed and mirrored fenders. And details like polished fluid lines, polished Eddie Motorsports hinges, an aluminum oil pan and a chrome brake booster create 100% show-ready aesthetics. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION With modern power on tap, it should come as no surprise that the bottom of this C10 features a host of noteworthy upgrades. Everything starts with a sturdy, factory-spec chassis that's been thoroughly smoothed and dipped in glossy paint. Behind the glare-inducing engine, a dressed 700R4 4-speed spins power to a chrome-capped, 12-bolt axle that's fitted with a posi-trac differential and big, 3.73 gears. That fully sorted drivetrain rides a trick Air Ride Technologies suspension that's built around sturdy sway bars, lucid power steering and quality Classic Performance Products drop spindles. Stops come courtesy of Wilwood 4 and 6-piston calipers, which squeeze a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors. A custom stainless fuel tank utilizes an internal Holley pump to supply a steady stream of fossils. The aforementioned headers feed coated, 3-inch pipes, which employ polished Magnaflow mufflers.
