During the disarray of the '80s malaise scene, there were hardcore gearheads. And even now, with increasing cost of ownership becoming the norm, there are still diehard gearheads. No matter where the future leads, there will ALWAYS be lifestyle enthusiasts who build a culture around the rush of turning transportation into art. And, unless you're one of us, it's something you'll probably never understand. So, what happens when a dedicated enthusiast decides to turn a decadent Detroit cruiser into a world-class pro-tourer? You get a razor-sharp head turner like this incredible Chevy Impala! The product of an uncompromising vision and many talented builders, this stunning classic wraps a tuned LS3 and stalwart 6-speed transmission in a tailored Morrison chassis and spotless '50s aesthetics. And, if you're a fellow enthusiast who's looking to satisfy an unrelenting need to headline shows and make a big statement, it's the award-winning drop-top of your dreams! BODYWORK/TRIM Designed and built at Tony's Kustoms in Lenoir City, Tennessee, this freshly finished Impala does an excellent job of wrapping vintage style around modern technology. In what amounted to a systematic, no-expense-spared rebuild, the car's solid body was completely stripped, thoroughly massaged and layered in a liquid-smooth coat of bright red 2-stage. With that paint buffed to brilliance, new glass was complemented with new, professionally polished trim and color-keyed quarter banners. With that profile dyed and detailed, Steve Holcomb of Knoxville's Pro Auto Interior custom-stitched a tight cloth top And in late 2015, this triple-red Chevy stormed the street rod scene, immediately earning a Staff Pick at the Goodguys 22nd Southeastern Nationals! ENGINE Toss the car's long hood and you'll find a hot LS3 small block that, thanks to Lloyd Sanders of Sanders Performance, looks ALMOST as good as it runs! GM Powertrain invested a great deal of time and research into getting the most out of its Gen IV V8, and it definitely shows. Changes started with a 20% stronger casting, featuring an increased bore of 103.25mm. Focus was then shifted to flow efficiency, resulting in the use of an all-new intake manifold and L92 rectangle-port heads. Factor in a new piston design, and injectors borrowed from the brutal LS7, and you get a very potent track weapon that happily doubles as an everyday commuter. At the top of the block, a conical, chrome-trimmed filter element funnels wind in to a polished air tube, which is hooked to a factory throttle body. At the sides of that throttle body, coated Street & Performance shorties bend under high quality Taylor plug wires. In front of those headers, an aftermarket serpentine drive spins a polished alternator and polished AC compressor behind a plethora of polished pulleys. In front of that drive, a polished PRC radiator swirls coolant around a fabricated expansion tank and big SPAL puller fan thanks to corrugated hoses. A Fastech Motorsports tune combines with Street & Performance wiring and an American Autowire harness to ensure everything communicates well. And details, like braided fluid lines, color-keyed dipsticks, a fully finished engine bay and cool, vintage-look fuel rail covers, ensure the mill maintains first class presentation. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Park this Chevy on a lift and you'll find a super clean undercarriage that's been prepped, primped and polished to match the car's slick powerplant and stunning exterior. The well-mannered motor twists a modern 6L80 6-speed, which is hooked to a tough Strange 9-inch that's fitted with an Eaton Truetrac differential and fun, 3.55 gears. That Strange pumpkin is an integral part of an Art Morrison GT Sport chassis, which features Strange coil-over-shocks at all four corners. Detroit Speed power rack-and-pinion steering provides tracking. Quick stops are a cinch thanks to 4 and 6-piston Wilwood calipers, which utilize a Wilwood master cylinder and Wilwood proportioning valve to squeeze 13-inch slotted rotors. A custom exhaust system routes spent gases through throaty Magnaflow mufflers that pop and crackle just like vintage hardware. Stylish Billet Specialties wheels throw torque through 225/45ZR18 and 275/35ZR20 Continental ExtremeContact DWS. And everything, from the car's body-matched floors to its Rock Valley fuel tank, is well planned, exceptionally executed and ready to reflect! INTERIOR But the show doesn't stop there. Not by a long shot! When you pop this drop-top's doors, you'll find a custom leather cockpit that, like the car's top, was installed by Steve Holcomb of Knoxville's Pro Auto Interior. Top dead center, a body-matched dash hangs clean Classic Instruments gauges above MP3-compatible Custom Autosound audio. Opposite that dash, four silver-piped seats frame a custom, full-length console that balances a modern shifter between Vintage Air climate control and switches for the aforementioned top and Nu-Relics power windows. Beneath that console, clean California Carpet bleeds in to custom side panels that are detailed with custom brightwork. In front of the driver, a tilting Ididit steering column spins a reduced diameter wheel. And behind the passengers, a leather-lined trunk features ample storage space. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION AND ACCESSORIESMisc Build Receipts.Component Manuals.2015 Goodguys Staff Pick Award Perpetually cool and visually stunning, this awesome Chevy is a near perfect example of the omnipresent creativity that defines our hobby. With its top-notch craftsmanship and incredible mechanical prowess, it presents the rare opportunity to land a fresh, award-winning showstopper without the fuss of coordinating a stressful, multi-year restoration. And, unless you're one of us, it's something you'll never understand. So, what happens when a machinist turned hot rodder executes a sick-figure build with virtually no limits? You get a razor-sharp head turner like this magazine-featured Chevrolet 3100! The product of an uncompromising vision and many talented builders, this stunning Chevy wraps a tuned LS3 small block and stalwart 4L60E transmission in a custom suspension and classic aesthetics. And, if you're a fellow enthusiast who's looking to satisfy an unrelenting need to headline shows and make a big statement, it's the award-winning pickup of your dreams! BODYWORK/TRIM Professionally restored by Legens Hot Rod Shop of Martin, Tennessee, this 3100 spent most of its life as a solid Arizona worker. In what amounted to a systematic, no-expense-spared rebuild, the truck's rust-free body was completely stripped, thoroughly massaged and layered in a liquid-smooth coat of Jet Black 2-stage. Traditional touches, like shaved fenders and a nosed hood, were complemented with shaved wipers, a smoothed cowl, shaved mirrors and polished LED taillights. A gorgeous burled wood bed was affixed using highly polished stainless hardware. And, for good measure, Legens even smoothed the truck's mirrored bumpers. Today, this incredible half-ton is a unique combination of time, talent and exceptional attention to detail. And with its killer paint, hot small block and stylish interior, it's the kind of top-notch street rod that's guaranteed to make you weak in the knees! ENGINE Toss the truck's domed hood and you'll find a hot LS3 crate engine that, thanks to the skilled techs at Street & Performance, makes a solid 480 horsepower! GM Powertrain invested a great deal of time and research into getting the most out of its Gen IV small block, and it definitely shows. Changes started with a 20% stronger casting, featuring an increased bore of 103.25mm. Focus was then shifted to flow efficiency, resulting in the use of rectangle-port heads and an all-new intake manifold. Factor in a new piston design, and injectors borrowed from the brutal LS7, and you get a very potent track weapon that happily doubles as an everyday commuter. At the top of the block, a black, chrome-trimmed air cleaner funnels wind in to a factory throttle body, which is bolted to a standard composite intake. At the sides of that intake, ceramic-coated headers hover under high quality Taylor plug wires. In front of those headers, a Billet Specialties Tru Trac system spins a plethora of Jet Black ancillaries. In front of that system, a body-matched radiator swirls coolant around a big electric puller fan. An American Autowire wiring harness ensures everything communicates well. And details, like braided fluid lines, Chevrolet-branded fuel rail covers, billet hood supports and a body-matched power steering reservoir, ensure the engine looks every bit as good as it runs. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Shimmy under this Chevy and you'll find a super clean undercarriage that's been prepped, primped and polished to match the truck's slick engine bay and stunning exterior. The subdued LS3 twists a Street & Performance 4L60E 4-speed, which is hooked to a painted Ford 9-inch that's fitted with 31-spline axles and big, 4.11 gears. That proven pumpkin pushes a C-notched parallel 4-link, which features high quality QA1 coil-over-shocks. Tracking is provided by a Mustang II front clip, which is complete with drop spindles, two more quality QA1 coil-overs and power rack-and-pinion steering. And that chassis hangs from a fully boxed Street Rod Garage frame. Quick stops are a cinch thanks to 4 and 6-piston Wilwood calipers, which utilize an 8-inch booster to squeeze 13-inch drilled and slotted rotors. At the center of the floor, a custom, 3-inch exhaust system routes spent gases through an X-shaped crossover. At the corners of the floor, stylish Billet Specialties Stilettos throw torque through 235/40ZR18 and 275/40ZR20 Toyo Proxes4s. And everything, from the truck's braided fluid lines to its painted stainless fuel tank, is well planned, exceptionally executed and ready to reflect! INTERIOR But the show doesn't stop there. Not by a long shot! When you pop this pickup's doors, you'll find a detail-oriented cockpit with charmingly retro surfaces that were installed by Paul Atkins Interiors of Hanceville, Alabama. Top dead center, a matte dash hangs clean Classic Instruments gauges above hidden controls for modern air conditioning. In front of that dash, an angled seat, which straddles chrome power window switches, aligns perfectly with custom-sculpted door skins. Speaking of those skins, they found traditional handles over custom, AC-piped kick panels. Beneath those panels, fresh carpet highlights billet foot pedals. Opposite that carpet, a custom headliner rides between a classy rearview mirror, a functional dome lamp and custom cab skins. And in front of the driver, a tilting Flaming River steering column spins a shrunken wheel around an elegant shifter. But, as you'll see, the results are definitely worth the six-figures it required to finish this amazing hardtop. Wrapping 598 cubic inches of Dart V8 in silky aesthetics and completely custom mechanicals, this national award winning Bel Air possesses the kind of performance and style that literally defines 'one-of-a-kind'. Ready for a first class build that combines everything great about front row Goodguys kustoms with modern road rocket technology? Check out this killer bowtie bubble top! BODYWORK/TRIM Sealed in Subaru's sophisticated Sunlight Gold Opal, this slick Chevrolet is the beneficiary of an extensive, ground-up restoration that was conducted by Street Metal Fabrication of Greenville, South Carolina. In addition to better-than-factory alignment, the car's body features super sinuous appeal thanks to fully shaved emblems. That body's combination of form, fit and flash is reinforced by high-gloss clear, which, during the finishing phase, was sanded to a mirror-like shine. And that world-class look is completed by custom striping that our production team likes to call "bray"; a pigment that displays a small hint of brown while maintaining just the right amount of gray to complement the car's custom leather interior. The greatest thing about building a massaged fifth generation Bel Air is: the subdued look most street rod enthusiasts strive for is pretty much standard factory fare. At the front of this fully sorted full-size, a shaved and chromed grille rides between chromed headlight buckets, modern H4 torches and a modified bumper. Above that grille, a factory hood leads the eye to a custom cowl that trades factory windshield wipers for functional breathing. Behind that hood, straight stainless trim shapes curved greenhouse glass. Below that trim, chrome side spears ride between shaved mirrors and traditional GM door handles. And at the back of those spears, modified taillights illuminate a custom, 1-piece bumper that's been professionally tucked and smoothed. ENGINE Hoist this Chevy's sculpted hood and you'll find a positively massive V8 that's been skillfully wedged in a custom Sunlight Gold Opal engine compartment. Carefully assembled and professionally detailed, that brutal stoplight slayer utilizes a stroker crank, a flat tappet cam and Dart Engineering casing to transform 598 cubic inches of red hot combustion into 10 to 1 compression and 800 horsepower! A perfect amount of oxygen flows from a custom-fabricated cowl induction system to an 850cfm Quick Fuel Technology carburetor. That wind mixes with fuel in a coated intake and progresses to aluminum Pro-Filer heads that are built with flat tappet lifters and tough roller rocker arms. Immediately following combustion, which is sourced via an aftermarket distributor and familiar Taylor plug wires, spent gases roar through custom-fabricated headers. Charge comes courtesy of a satin-finished alternator that, like the car's satin AC compressor, spins on a high quality Vintage Air accessory drive. Cooling is provided by a big Griffin radiator that's backed by Flex-a-Lite puller fans and a proven Stewart water pump. And items like billet hood hinges, fabricated valve covers, a satin-finished fuel pump and trick dipsticks enhance subdued and classy aesthetics. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION We've said it time and time again, and the old adage still proves true. A pro-tourer simply isn't an authentic pro-tourer unless its significant power enhancements are augmented by significant chassis hardware. That's the only way 100% of the car's performance potential will ever be realized. This Bel Air's spry big block is, first and foremost, augmented by a custom-fabricated perimeter chassis that replaces GM's venerable X-frame. At the center of that chassis, a fresh Tremec 5-speed makes good use of a hydraulic clutch. When that clutch grabs, a fresh driveshaft twists a narrowed Moser rear end, which seats an Eaton posi-traction differential between RideTech coil-over-shocks. Turns come courtesy of modern power steering, which seats an AGR gearbox between Bilstein coil-over-shocks. Smooth and solid stops are provided by multi-piston Wilwood calipers, which squeeze four drilled and slotted rotors. Spent gases flow in to custom pipes and throaty Flowmaster mufflers. Power meets the pavement through polished Schott wheels, which spin 225/45R19 Goodyear Eagle RS-As in front of 275/45R20 Goodyear Eagle GTIIs. And everything from this Chevy's custom oil pan to its Sunlight Gold Opal floors is expertly finished, superbly detailed and ready for action. INTERIOR Behind the car's lightweight doors, it's all Paul Atkins. Custom leather seats, which wear metallic piping over polished buttons, are configured in a typical bench and bucket layout. From the driver's perch, a Paul Atkins dash hangs an impressive array of Classic Instruments All American gauges above billet foot pedals, pushbutton ignition and Vintage Air climate control. Beneath that dash, fibrous carpet frames a custom console that anchors a simple chrome shifter behind iPod-compatible Clarion audio. Opposite that console, leather side panels center billet door and window handles between large kick speakers and custom metal trim. In front of the driver, a 2-tone steering wheel spins around a convenient, tilting column. And behind the passengers, a custom package tray hangs over a fully upholstered trunk that features ample storage and display space. The product of a multi-year frame-off build, this Chevy is an absolutely stunning tour de force which tucks a 502 cubic inch crate motor and a completely show-detailed undercarriage into a timeless pony car body that's been tweaked with some of the best components on the market. Professionally built to turn heads and win trophies, all the while capturing the classic style of the fabled first generation F-body, it's the kind of car that'll make you the star of the show wherever you go. If you're looking for some ultimate take-no-prisoners muscle that's polished enough for the turn table, and reliable enough for the open road, have a look at this world class Camaro! Completing a three year transformation from solid Detroit steel into a lean, mean Chevrolet dream machine, this spectacular F1 Camaro displays bodywork that's nothing short of immaculate! The car's ground up nut and bolt restoration started with a new frame and an original '69 Camaro body that, by the looks of things, had never seen any major rust or any significant damage. Once those components were married together, every one of that body's panels was aligned to better than factory fit between seams that were made narrow and precise. And when those professionally fitted panels were as close to perfect as possible, a custom mix of 3-stage Sherwin-Williams red was sealed under a mirror-like clearcoat that, thanks to thorough sanding and tedious buffing, perfectly highlights the car's classic American lines. The end result is one seriously lethal showpiece that has major presence and unbelievable curb appeal! When it comes to purity of form, I can't think of a better design than the '69 Camaro Rally Sport. And this awesome red resto-mod features a host of aggressive upgrades which feel so natural they could've rolled out of GM's Norwood manufacturing facility over 43 years ago. At the front of the car's body a black, stainless-trimmed grille hangs fresh Rally Sport headlights above modern halogen parking lamps and a smoothed, tucked and painted bumper. Above that grille, a traditional ZL2 cowl induction hood flows toward a smoothed cowl panel which anchors pristine greenhouse glass inside shaved drip rails and new stainless frames. Below that hood, shaved marker lights combine with shaved mirrors, shaved door handles and widened rear wheel openings to highlight the car's solid, sculpted profile. And at the back of those marker lights, a custom rear decklid rides between custom rear fender extensions, a custom rear valence, flush-fitting tail lights and a second smoothed, tucked and painted bumper. While the description of this F1's massaged body may sound deceptively simple, its appearance is every bit as alluring as it is clean! That said, if you think the exterior of this buff pavement pounder is impressive, you're going to LOVE what's under its hood. Pop the car's traditional latch and you'll find 502 cubic inches of GM Performance Parts V8 that produces roughly 700 horsepower and makes the kind of killer noise that elicits an immediate 'deer in the headlights' look from anything with ear drums. At the top of that decked block oxygen flows through a custom, body-matched air cleaner into a coated Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor which is fed by new stainless fuel lines and operated by a sleeved throttle cable. The resulting high octane air/fuel mixture makes its way from a polished aluminum intake to shaved and polished heads that are topped with a slick pair of custom valve covers. Once that air/fuel mixture hits the cylinders, a Mallory Unilite distributor sends fire to hidden Taylor plug wires which spark in perfect time with a custom camshaft. And when that air/fuel mixture is compressed, spent gases exit through custom, ceramic coated long tube headers which perfectly complement the block's flawless red paint. Cooling for the big engine is provided by a giant, body-matched radiator that's equipped with both a large electric puller fan and a small polished cap. Charging comes courtesy of a polished alternator which, along with a polished AC compressor and a polished water pump, is spun by an aesthetically pleasing Billet Specialties Tru Trac serpentine system. And the car's engine compartment is exceptionally clean featuring a smoothed red firewall behind smoothed red fenders, and details such as billet hood hinges, a polished breather, a polished thermostat housing and a liquid filled Mooneyes temperature gauge which add icing to the big block cake. At the bottom of this brutal bowtie, a slick shifting Tremec TKO600 5-speed manual transmission spins a Currie nine inch Posi-traction rear end that hangs stout 4.11 gears inside a completely polished case. Holding that top-notch drivetrain off the ground is a tubular Total Cost Involved front subframe, which rides on chrome-plated control arms, chrome-plated spindles and adjustable coil over shocks, and a Detroit Speed Engineering QUADRAlink four bar rear suspension, which makes good use of a high quality Panhard bar, mini tubs and two more adjustable coil over shocks. Braking is provided by a four wheel Wilwood system which applies pressure to giant drilled and slotted rotors via braided lines, polished six piston front calipers and polished four piston rear calipers. Turns come courtesy of manual rack and pinion steering which mixes traditional wheel feel with classic car style. And exhaust duties are handled by slick HPC pipes which funnel spent gases through an H-pipe crossover and great sounding Flowmaster dual chamber mufflers. The car's smoothed floorpans are clean and freshly restored to match its show quality undercarriage. Putting all the 502's power to the ground is a spectacular set of custom Boyd Coddington Spires which spin 235/40ZR18 BF Goodrich G-Force T/As in front of 295/45ZR20 BF Goodrich G-Force T/As. And all the right ancillary items like heavy duty subframe connectors, a custom fuel tank and a high torque mini starter provide a detailed and show-ready appearance. Open this Camaro's shaved doors and you'll find a supple Cinnamon interior that's built around firm bucket seats and a nice blend of modern style and modern convenience. At the front of the car a custom, two-tone dash hangs a slick set of Stewart Warner Maximum Performance gauges between polished trim, billet vents and chrome foot pedals. Below that dash a full length center console, which features a swath of bright aluminum trim, props a modern short throw shifter between a polished Vintage Air control panel, a hidden MP3 cable, a remote controlled Clarion sound system and hidden switches for the car's four power windows. Below that console, high quality Berber-like carpet rides between custom sill plates and smoothed door jambs. At the sides of that carpet, custom leather panels wear mesh speaker grilles below sculpted armrests and exceptionally fabricated door handle coves. Above those side panels, a custom suede headliner anchors a billet rearview mirror between shaved sun visors. In front of the driver, a great looking Billet Specialties half-wrap steering wheel spins around a modern tilt steering column. And behind the passengers, a custom mesh package tray holds great sounding speakers in front of a fully finished trunk and a small amount of storage space. Even though this 'restoration fresh' custom has only been on the show circuit for mere months, it's already managed to rack up some prestigious accolades:Top 25 award at the 2012 Shades of the Past Rod Run in Pigeon Forge, TennesseeBest Rides award at the 2012 Goodguys Speedway Nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana This expertly restored Rally Sport mixes classic Chevrolet looks with a ton of power and some of the best suspension and braking components on the market. And what's better; its build is so fresh that you can almost smell wet paint. If you're in the market for a top-notch pavement bruiser that is a blast to show, and even MORE fun to drive, your search is over! [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle National Award Winning Chevelle "Black Thunder" 502 V8 Year: 1966 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Black Mileage: 63 Transmission type: 3 Speed Automatic Engine: 502 V8 Interior color: Black Vehicle info You already know that RK Motors Charlotte has a thing for Chevrolet's most famous muscle car. From their long list of options and stacks of documentation to their hundreds of cubic inches of big block bliss, we've brought you some of the most mind-blowing, potent and flat-out brutal Chevelles the market has ever seen! And from the insane LSX-powered coupe we sold last month to the rare Golden Brown convertible we featured a few weeks ago, we continue to be your number one source for anything that starts with the letters C, H, E and V. After all, what's not to love about a classic that defines the dominant era of Chevrolet ingenuity, showcases an unparalleled era in American culture and represents the best era of Detroit's manufacturing might? Absolutely nothing; and that's why this award-winning pro-tourer, with its 502 cubic inch GM Performance Parts V8, custom suspension and classy leather interior, is the perfect piece for the muscle car fan who wants the best of absolutely everything! Selling for a solid $262K just one year after its professional, body-off restoration, this slick Chevy hardtop features a seamless and sinister appearance that's highlighted by an immaculate layer of custom PPG basecoat. Now, we all know it isn't easy to perfect a body that's going to be dipped in deep black pigment. And that difficulty doubles when said black pigment is pretty much the ONLY thing prospective admirers have to focus on. But, no worries here; just take one look down the sides of this Chevelle's rock-solid fuselage and it's obvious that Cummings Custom Classics of Maryville, Tennessee took great care ensuring each of its panels were aligned to better-than-factory fit. Step closer to those panels' hypnotic finish and check out their straight and ripple-free surfaces, which are a product of high quality prep work and 100% original sheetmetal. Grab that sheetmetal's well-adjusted pivot points and feel how smoothly they close to provide an excellent fit, which is highlighted by precise gaps and a glossy PPG clearcoat. Now, step back and watch it all add up to one extremely impressive classic that's built to exacting specifications. The key to creating a world class custom is building a car that, even though it looks virtually seamless, actually contains many labor-intensive modifications. Take this foreboding Chevelle, for example. Thanks to subtle metalwork and a little help from the folks at Advanced Plating in Nashville, Tennessee, GM's mid-size sales champ has never looked so good! At the front of the car, a mirrored grille hangs a custom "502" emblem between chrome headlight buckets, traditional T3 headlamps and a spotless chrome bumper. At the sides of the car, shaved fender emblems and a distinct lack of brightwork hint at a serious personality while traditional door handles and fresh wheel frames add a little form to major function. At the top of the car, a shaved Super Sport hood leads the eye to smoked glass that rides behind a smoothed cowl, straight stainless trim and bright stainless wipers. And at the back of the car, a smoothed valence hangs crystal clear tail lights above a second spotless bumper. Few cars fit the 'muscle car' description better than a Chevelle. And when you build a Chevelle that's named "Black Thunder", you'd better stock some SERIOUS horsepower. Twisting 540 dyno-proven horses into a massive 560 lb./ft. of stump-pulling torque, this coupe's killer GM Performance Parts 502 is a logical testament to the old rule: more cubic inches equals more horsepower. Massaged by Hinkle Machine Shop in London, Kentucky, the brutal mill utilizes a forged crank, shot penned rods, aluminum pistons and a hydraulic roller cam to flat out whip pretty much anything with four wheels. A perfect air/fuel mixture is supplied by a big Holley 750, which anchors a Proform center section between a reusable filter element and Holley pressure gauge. That mixture flows through a mirrored Edelbrock intake to ported and polished heads which, like the rest of the engine, have had their castings completely smoothed. Spark is sequenced from an MSD 6A ignition system to an MSD points distributor and loomed Taylor plug wires. Gases roar through large, custom-cut exhaust pipes via coated, custom-modified Hooker headers. And a coated Edelbrock water pump, two electric puller fans and polished Street & Performance pulleys ensure rocket-like acceleration. Visually, the classy gold block rides in a custom engine bay that displays OEM-level attentiveness to both engineering and assembly. And details like chrome hardware, custom stainless fluid lines and polished ancillary components create a clean and purposeful aesthetic. This is usually the point in a pro-tourer breakdown where passive optimism has turned into nail-biting enthusiasm. And unfortunately, that excitement is sometimes dampened by statements like "a factory-correct transmission" or "a corporate GM rear end". Not so with this first class Chevelle! Its owner's crystal clear vision of eventual perfection has culminated in a completely custom suspension that's chock full of high performance hardware and proven drivetrain components. The brazen big block twists to redline thanks to a fresh Jasper Turbo-Hydramatic 400, which backs a 2,600 RPM stall converter with a Positive Shift Kit. That polished gearbox utilizes a custom Sonny's Driveline driveshaft to spin an Eaton posi-traction differential around high quality Moser axles and 3.50 Motive Gears. Holding that world class drivetrain off the pavement is a massaged chassis that was smoothed and boxed at Craig's Hot Rod Shop in Knoxville, Tennessee. At the front of that chassis, polished Fatman control arms hang AGR power steering components and Carrera coil-over-shocks between a 1-inch Hotchkis sway bar and 1-inch lowering springs. At the back of that chassis, a proven Hotchkis 4-bar hangs polished shocks behind a second Hotchkis sway bar. Stops come courtesy of a beefy Baer brake system, which wraps polished calipers around 13-inch front, and 12-inch rear, drilled and slotted rotors. Exhaust swirls through custom Craig's Hot Rod Shop pipes that were coated to match polished Edelbrock RPM Series Tru-Flo mufflers. And at the corners of the floor, custom Boyd Coddington wheels spin 245/50R17 BF Goodrich Comp T/As in front of 255/60R17 BF Goodrich Comp T/As. Aesthetically, the bottom of this Chevelle is just as clean as its top; framing smoothed and painted floors in a full outfit of custom stainless fluid lines. And essentials like a Moroso oil pan, Lokar transmission accessories and a Mallory Comp fuel pump round out a roster of top notch details. Inside the car, clean 60s style is augmented with impressive tailoring that was performed by Steve Holcomb of Pro Auto Custom Interiors in Knoxville, Tennessee. Cerullo front buckets and a custom rear bench are all-day comfortable, featuring supple hides that display no significant wrinkles. In front of those seats, a custom dash hangs smooth gold paint behind Classic Instruments gauges and a third Lokar-sourced "Black Thunder" emblem. On the floor, high quality carpet rides under traditional Fisher sills, color-keyed mats and a custom console that's detailed with a Hurst Quarter Stick shifter and Vintage Air climate control. In front of the driver, a tilting Ididit steering column spins a custom Lecarra wheel around polished Lokar foot pedals. At the sides of the passengers, two-tone door panels hang modern power windows behind polished handles, sculpted armrests and large kick speakers. And behind the cockpit, a smoothed and stitched trunk hangs an Alpine CD player and Alpine CD changer above two Alpine amplifiers and a new EZ Wiring harness. Naturally, this jaw-dropping coupe is no stranger to praise and accolades. [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS Frame Off Built Camaro Super Sport 502 V8 5 Speed Year: 1969 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Red Mileage: 115 Transmission type: 5 Speed Manual Engine: 502 V8 Interior color: Tan Vehicle info Here at RK Motors Charlotte we pride ourselves on selling some of the finest muscle cars in the world; but every time we think we've seen it all, a car like this killer '69 Camaro Rally Sport comes through the doors and seriously humbles us. During the disarray of the 80s malaise scene, there was hardcore gearheads. And even now, with increasing cost of ownership becoming the norm, there are still diehard gearheads. No matter where the future leads, there will ALWAYS be lifestyle enthusiasts who build a culture around the rush of turning transportation into art; and unless you're one of us, it's something you'll never understand. So, what happens when a bona fide automotive power couple executes a 45 week build with virtually no limits? You get a mind numbing head turner like this 1955 Chevrolet 3100! The product of an uncompromising vision and many talented builders, this stunning Chevy wraps a 375 horsepower small block and 5-speed Tremec transmission in a custom suspension and one-of-a-kind appearance. And, if you're a fellow enthusiast who's looking to satisfy an unrelenting need to win trophies and make a big statement, it's the magazine featured pickup of your dreams! Flo and Gary Garman had built cars before. Their first project, a '55 Chevy sedan entitled 'Fun', took 35 weeks from start to finish. Then, as if that wasn't impressive enough, 'Juicy', a second '55 Chevy sedan went from concept to show queen in a mere 25 weeks. Now, when I say "built", I don't mean called shops and scheduled work. This dynamic duo hauled the cars to their 2.5-bay garage, rolled up their sleeves and made the magic happen. The third time around, Gary wanted to build a '55 Chevy truck. With an easy approval from Flo, he hit Craigslist and promptly found a 10 year long project that had stalled with a disinterested owner and boxes of parts. The only stipulations on this newfound cruiser were: 1) Gary wanted a red interior and 2) Flo wanted a green exterior. Adopting a color combo that was obviously ripe for a theme, the couple ruled out Christmas, nixed stoplights and settled on what seemed like the next logical choice: watermelons. And, with the stage set, they shopped salvage yards, perused the Carlisle flea market and started the stopwatch on their latest "Home Grown" creation. Work began with Flo part-sourcing while Gary, with the help of expert body technician Butch Grossman, patched and welded the truck's exterior panels. The cab was shipped to family friend Chess Sprenkle of Chess Sprenkle Body & Paint in York Haven, Pennsylvania. And, upon its return, carefully ground welds were sealed in custom PPG green that's based on a cool combination of Home Depot and Martha Stewart paint swatches. Remarkably smooth and ready for assembly, random parts migrated out of Gary's homemade paint booth after Flo's usual ritual of wet-sanding. 'Ripe watermelon wear marks' and custom door logos came courtesy of family friend Dane Geesey of DGeez Signs & Graphics in Yoe, Pennsylvania. And, in late 2011, the truck rolled into the Maryland East Coast Indoor Nationals to claim the first of its many awards. Today, this stunning Half Ton is a unique combination of time, talent and exceptional attention to detail. And with its killer paint, stalwart small block and stylish leather interior, it's the kind of top notch custom that's guaranteed to make you weak in the knees! As expected, this awesome Chevy's first rate detailing highlights both its solid form and stunning paint. At the front of the truck, a polished egg crate grille rides between chrome-trimmed headlights, bullet-style parking lamps and a bright chrome bumper. Above that grille, a Bel Air-inspired hood hangs a prominent Chevrolet crest in front of stainless-trimmed glass, appearance-specific wipers and a modified Truck Shop visor. At the sides of that hood, body-matched emblems and a short antenna combine with aftermarket mirrors, chrome door handles and a locking, bowtie-branded gas cap to detail a clean 'flow though' profile. Opposite those emblems, a spectacular Oak bed is held down by spotless stainless skid strips. And at the back of that bed, an embossed tailgate loops sleeved chains over a polished tag bracket, LED tail lights and a second chrome bumper. Hoist this custom's rolled hood and you'll find a 355 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 that, thanks to the pros at American Speed, creates a stout 375 horsepower. At the top of the blueprinted mill, a watermelon themed air cleaner, custom-fabricated from two Freon bottles, forces wind into a coated Street Avenger carburetor that's juiced by a coated Edelbrock fuel pump and polished stainless fluid lines. At the base of that Holley, a green Edelbrock intake hangs a green distributor between Chevrolet-branded valve covers and polished wire looms. Below those looms, green plug wires snake around coated Doug's headers. And in front of those headers, attractive Tru Trac pulleys spin a modern power steering pump between a polished alternator, a polished AC compressor, a Cooling Components puller fan and a watermelon-detailed Griffin radiator. Aesthetically, both the bright green small block and its assortment of hand-picked accessories look right at home seated low in their smoothed and body-matched frame. And details like bowtie-branded caps, a high-torque mini starter and Goodyear Gatorback belts ensure this truck runs every bit as good as it looks. Shimmy under this Chevy and you'll find a super clean undercarriage that's been prepped, primped and polished to match the truck's slick engine bay and stunning exterior. The dressed 355's power flows from a familiar Tremec TKO600 5-speed to a narrowed Bronco rear end that's fitted with 3.50 gears and a posi-traction differential. That proven axle pushes the truck on green Chassis Engineering leafs, which are attached to equally green shocks. Tracking is provided by a Fatman independent front suspension, which is complete with polished control arms, 2-inch drop spindles and Fatman power rack and pinion steering. Quick stops are a cinch thanks to power 4-wheel disc brakes. And that chassis hangs from a body-matched frame that's been sandblasted, boxed and filled. At the center of that frame, large-diameter, true-dual exhaust routes ceramic coated pipes through an X-shaped crossover, throaty Flowmaster mufflers and polished stainless tips. At the corners of the floor, 15-inch Wheel Smith Smoothies throw torque through 205/70 front and 255/60 rear Diamond Back Classic whitewalls. And everything, from the truck's modern brake booster to its braided brake lines, is well-planned, exceptionally executed and ready to roll! But the show doesn't stop there. Not by a long shot! When you pop this pickup's doors, you'll find a fully insulated cockpit that features glowing leather surfaces. Top dead center, a chrome-detailed dash hangs Classic Instruments gauges between a Custom Autosound head unit, Vintage Air climate control and a small Guide traffic light viewer. In front of that dash, a sculpted seat, which was cribbed from a 1995 GMC Safari, centers chrome crests between small panels, stainless handles and textured, Chevrolet-branded steps. Below that seat, fresh California Carpet balances color-keyed and chrome detailed floor mats between custom kick panels, big Pioneer speakers and a watermelon-topped shifter. Opposite that carpet, a basket weave headliner perfectly complements modern shoulder belts and cool, basket weave sun visors. And in front of the driver, a painted Ididit steering column spins a small-diameter wheel around an airbrushed center piece and high quality Haywire wiring. Fortunately, it is a V8-powered hardtop in great colors and a great vintage performance look that's 100% Impala. By 1962, the fins were long gone and the resulting car was one of the cleanest, most attractive designs in years. Restrained and handsome, it was relatively easy to make it look racy with just a few additions like the crossed-flag emblems on the fenders and subtle twin tailpipes just behind the rear wheel wells. This particular Imp carries all its original sheetmetal and floors, a testament to just how clean it really is. After spending decades in Tennessee, it got a nice freshening a few years ago in its original Ermine White, which was pretty popular with the guys going racing on weekends. Gaps are tight, the long strip of trim with a red insert adds some brilliant contrast, and the distinctive shape of the top is evidently designed to mimic that of the ragtop. Regardless, it looks fantastic from any angle and the work really was top-notch. Nice chrome bumpers, traditional triple Impala taillights, and no fake SS badges really make this one stand out. This car also came with a factory code 874 red interior, which gives it a ton of eyeball appeal and looks wonderfully vintage inside. The upholstery was obviously restored at some point in the not-too-distant past and uses correct striped cloth and vinyl surrounds to re-create the original look. Beautifully ornate door panels look like they should be on a much more expensive car and the dash is covered in engine-turned trim, just like on the SS. A handsome steering wheel surrounds an accessory column-mounted tachometer, and the factory gauges are augmented by a set of vintage Moon Eyes dials under the dash. And yes, that's a 4-speed shifter with Hurst cue ball knob sticking out of the transmission tunnel, so you know this car is serious about performance as much as looking pretty. In fact, the relative lack of options, including no radio, suggests that this Imp was originally purchased for something other than commuting to the office each day. However, the trunk is nicely finished and includes proper spatter-finish paint and a full-sized spare up there on its own shelf. The stout 327 under the hood is an awesome runner that more that fulfils the promises of the vintage racer look. Brightly dressed in Chevy Orange, it's deceivingly stock-looking with a twin-snorkel air cleaner, original-style generator, and even factory hose clamps and decals. But underneath there are upgrades like double-hump heads with a 3-angle valve job, Comp Cams roller rockers, and a custom exhaust system with Flowmasters and cut-outs so it sounds intimidating as hell. The Borg-Warner T10 4-speed gearbox was rebuilt in 2013 and the car was fitted with a 409 front suspension for better weight transfer. With correct red oxide primer on the underside, a stout rear end with 3.70 gears inside, and no signs of cancer, this is a really well-done period street brawler. Even the chrome steel wheels look period-correct with BFG Silvertown bias-ply tires up front and a set of Hurst cheater slicks out back. Nicely finished for a great '60s look and feel, this is a surprisingly quick car that often catches the other guy looking the other way. Fast fun for not a lot of cash. [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air National Award Winning Bel Air 427 Mark IV V8 5 Speed Year: 1957 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Silver Mileage: 494 Transmission type: 5 Speed Manual Engine: 427 V8 Interior color: Red Vehicle info The 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air has style in spades, making these cruisers some of the most recognizable and desirable American cars ever created. They've always been great to look at, but for a lot of modern drivers, what equated to impressive street manners in the 1950s simply doesn't translate to 2014. For that reason, there is a tendency to go overboard with updating these cars with modern hardware but this '57 Bel Air two-door hardtop offers the perfect balance of classic looks and modern behavior. The subject of a detailed body-off restoration, this tri-five Chevy retains a nearly stock appearance while offering a 427 cubic inch, a smooth-shifting Tremec transmission, power steering, and air conditioning everything you need to enjoy this car on modern roads. Looking for a classic Bel Air without the compromises? Your Chevrolet has arrived! The beneficiary of two recent restorations, the first was a complete frame off restoration which was finished in 2008. 2012 brought the most recent restoration that included a new frame, work inside the engine compartment, and a repaint. Today it sits as a decorated award winner in vibrant silver that was borrowed from the Mercedes-Benz line of colors. Zoom in on the details and you'll find all the correct trim in place and ready for show. The front is a gorgeous combination of gold and silver, lead by a pristine chrome bumper. Pointed fenders are capped in chrome and the hood dcor continues the sense of forward motion. The greenhouse is filled with clean glass edged in well-preserved stainless trim, while round mirrors sit just beyond either vent window. A trio of gold fender louvers introduce the side profile and the iconic side trim flows back and opens up above the rear fender as the fins continue back. Out back, the sharp fins are capped in chrome, while a golden Chevrolet emblem and V badge fill in the center. At the very back you will find another wrap-around rear bumper, while the dual exhausts exit out just behind the rear tires. Lift the big silver hood and you'll find a fantastic blend of show and go sitting within the engine bay. Powering the Bel Air is a 427 cubic inch Big Block Mark IV V8 bored .030 over with a complete Reher Morrison top end. The big block creates a dyno-proven 587hp at 7000RPM and looks incredible while doing so. At the top of the engine is a polished aluminum air filter that sits atop a Holly ultra HP 850 CFM carburetor shoving the air/fuel mixture through an Edelbrock Victor series intake. Inside the block is a cross drilled nitrited forged steel crankshaft, Forged 11.3 pistons with 119cc heads, Molly perfect circle rings, Clevite H-series race bearing mains, Lunati solid mechanical roller cam, and a HP cam bearing set. Spent gasses travel out the Reher Morrison heads through a set of custom Hooker Super comp long-tube coated headers before entering dual exhausts. Bolted to that massive 427 is a Centerforce clutch and pressure plate that transfers those 587hp to the Tremec TKO600 5-speed manual transmission. From there the power travels down the driveshaft and puts the power to the ground thanks to a Ford 9" rear axle that has been equipped with a 3.70 posi differential with 31-spline Moser axles. At the front of the car you'll find Heidts front control arms with QA1 adjustable coil-over shocks and in the rear an upgraded tri-angulated 4-bar suspension equipped with adjustable QA1 coil-over shocks holds the Ford 9" in place. Stopping power comes courtesy of Wilwood 12" disc brakes being equipped at every corner. In front of those brakes the entire car sits on 18" and 20" Boyd Coddington Aluminum Junkyard Dog Wheels that have been wrapped in Nitto NT555 Extreme. Inside you will find a completely custom red and silver vinyl interior by Cars Interior. When it comes to interiors, even the best stitch-master would be hard-pressed to create something more attractive than a stock '57 Bel Air interior. The custom red and silver interior in this hardtop is a great reminder of that. Swing open either door to admire beautifully styled door panels with fresh trim, and hardware. Fisher Body door sill plates protect the threshold while fresh red carpets protected by new rubber mats greet your arrival. A pair of bench seats offers spacious accommodations for four, wrapped in the same striking red and silver vinyl as the door panels. Slide into the driver's seat for a better look at the controls. You'll notice right off the bat the Ididit steering column. Behind the red wheel, the stylish Bel Air dash reads only 497 miles and hosts a trio of gauges that measure temperature, speed, and fuel, while to either side, stainless pulls control the accessories. Vents underneath the dash distribute cooled air from the HVAC system and an upgraded radio provides entertainment for the ride thanks to a Custom Autosound receiver and 10-disc CD changer. The whole cabin is topped by a taut, red headliner completed by a dome light and matching red visors. We aren't the only ones who think this '57 Chevy is immaculate. Here is a quick list of all the achievements it has already claimed: Best of Show award at 2009 World of Wheels in Birmingham AlabamaTop three award at Corvette expo in Sevierville Tennessee Top Ten editor's choice award at Super Chevy show in Atlanta Georgia Top 3 in class at Horsepower and Hot Rods in Sevierville Tennessee Featured on Wilwood Brakes HomepageFeatured on Wilwood five brake fluid bottles Featured on Borla Exhaust films pageFeatured on Boyd Coddington's HomepageFeatured in MSD ignition ad in Super Chevy Magazine If you're after a high quality restoration topped out with thousands upon thousands of dollars' worth of incredible functionality, then this is the tri-five of your dreams. Especially if you enjoy the 50's styling but want a modern drivetrain and suspension, cars like this '57 hardtop are the way to go. Its 427/TK0600 combination is a pleasure to operate and details like air conditioning and power steering will keep the passengers happy too. If you're ready to truly enjoy a tri-five, don't miss the chance to put this Bel Air in your collection today! [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1937 Buick Series 40 Frame Off Built Steel Series 40 EFI 364/367 HP VortecMAX V8 4L60E with A/C Year: 1937 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Burgundy Mileage: 959 Transmission type: 4 Speed Automatic Engine: 364 VortecMAX V8 Interior color: Gray Vehicle Info For 111 years Buick has provided substantial, unpretentious luxury to everyone from Wall Street bankers to professional athletes. You might say the storied brand has done it all. It's the foundation for today's General Motors Company. It's the foundation for America's growth in the world's largest automotive market. And in the '30s, when Detroit was at the top of its luxury game, fine automobiles like this stylish Series 40 gave solid credibility to the line "Best Buy's Buick". Recently restored into a road-ready resto-mod, this fully sorted cruiser is certainly some of the coolest metal to ever roll down an assembly line. Thanks to its remarkable combination of smooth power and first class style, it sits at the pinnacle of pre-war design. And, if you're a cultured enthusiast who's looking for a unique and clean classic, it's the old school road warrior you've been patiently waiting for! The beneficiary of a professional, frame-off restoration that was completed in late 2012, this stately sedan is one of the coolest tri-shields we've ever seen! On a quest for vintage metal that could be transformed into a comfortable boulevard cruiser, the car's owner found his project sitting next to an airplane hangar in Advance, North Carolina. When a deal was struck, Winston Salem's The Paint Shop stripped the Buick's curvaceous body all the way to bare metal. After some small rust repairs, that body's panels were assembled into a straight and precise profile that displayed Honda Basque Red Pearl two-stage. Trim was sent to Advanced Plating in Nashville, Tennessee for a new, high quality luster. And today, this all-steel 40's prestigious, blemish-free appearance is a lust worthy representation of America's most glorious era of motoring. Highly regarded competitors to some of the world's finest automobiles, '30s Buicks combined proven bodies with Detroit's most innovative and powerful engines to create an unmatched sense of style and grandeur. At the front of this classic's swank 'torpedo' profile, a familiar chrome grille hangs small emblems between chrome-trimmed headlights, streamlined parking lamps and a detailed, wraparound bumper. Above that grille, a 4-piece, folding hood places stainless-trimmed heat extractors amid a streamlined gun sight and long, stainless flanks. At the back of that hood, a clean greenhouse rides behind variable wipers, 1-piece door glass and correct chrome mirrors. At the sides of that greenhouse, a tall fuselage anchors rapier-style door handles between classy running boards, sleek trim spears and a cool "BODY by FISHER" badge. And at the back of those spears, a lit tag topper floats among a second bumper, Bulux tail lights, ornate trunk hardware and a modern power antenna. Cosmetics aside, this sedan features an impressive level of performance. Lift the car's hinged hood and you'll find a potent Vortec V8: the forerunner to virtually all the technology still featured in GM sports cars. Donated by a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, this fully-sorted mill combines razor-sharp pulls with a doublewide torque band. And what's better: all that grunt comes standard with hassle-free, 21st century reliability. At the front of the engine, a Billet Specialties TruTrac system spins a polished Powermaster alternator and Vintage Air AC compressor at the base of a polished air tube and familiar Spectre filter element. Once air enters that filter, it flows through a factory throttle body into a factory intake, which is bolted down over completely stock internals. High octane fossils are provided by 12-volt Street and Performance wiring and GM electronic fuel injection. Sparks are sequenced through red AC Delco plug wires. Spent gases are whisked away by a slick pair of ceramic coated block hugger headers. And cooling comes courtesy of a beefy Walker radiator that's complete with a quick-spinning Cooling Components puller fan. Aesthetically, the glossy engine compartment combines with the Vortec's clean silver casting to provide a natural contrast that oozes performance appeal. Niceties such as a chrome brake booster, braided accents and a factory dust cover add just the right amount of flash and detail to make people stop and take notice. And the net result is a buttery smooth, muscle-bound V8 that, through its distinctive rumble, foretells the car's true hot rod nature. Like its drivetrain, this Buick's fully restored chassis was completed by Little Joe's Street Rod Shop in Sherrills Ford, North Carolina. Providing the car's smooth ride is an independent front and 4-bar rear suspension that's augmented by power rack-and-pinion steering and Ridetech RidePRO compression. At the center of that suspension, a 4L60E 4-speed automatic, donated by a 2004 Pontiac GTO, sends power to a Ford 9-inch rear end. At the edges of that drivetrain, true-dual exhaust makes good use of deep turbo mufflers. Outside that exhaust, 4-wheel disc brakes initiate quick, drama-free stops. Outside those brakes, familiar wire wheels spin 225/75R15 Hankook Optimo H724s around "BUICK" branded center caps. And, with a fully sorted undercarriage that's ready to hit the road, this big cruiser would be right at home chauffeuring the family to their favorite dinner spot. An excellent mix of new world style and old world luxury, this 40's ultraleather interior is the perfect place to parade down Main Street. The car's front bucket and rear bench seats are stuffed with fresh padding, covered in wrinkle-free skins and trimmed with modern seatbelts. In front of those seats, a wood-themed dash hangs digitized Classic Instruments telemetry over remote-controlled Custom Autosound acoustics and Vintage Air climate control. Below that dash, a wood console, which features cup holders, courtesy lamps and a 12-volt accessory plug, rides between a small parking brake and clean shifter. At the base of that console, fresh, high quality carpet is anchored by slick, Fisher-branded sill plates and protected by big, color-keyed floor mats. Opposite that carpet, a mouse fur headliner rides tight behind a small, billet mirror. At the sides of that headliner, simple door panels prop traditional handles between discreet power windows, wood-themed frames and fresh Sony speakers. In front of the driver, a "BUICK" branded, banjo-style steering wheel spins a color-keyed rim around a tilting column and modern cruise control. And behind the passengers, a wood-trimmed trunk features compartmentalized storage for all the car's necessities. The sale of this classy sedan includes restoration photos, restoration receipts and a stack of component manuals. Combining a high quality restoration with modern power, this incredible Buick is one of the best resto-mods your money can buy! Add in the car's excellent detailing and impressive road prowess, and it's virtually guaranteed to be the go-to choice for a night on the town. In front of those seats, a wood-themed dash hangs digitized Classic Instruments telemetry over remote-controlled Custom Autosound acoustics. With an endless assortment of components, a deep pool of talent and many ways to fuse the two together, the possibilities are simply limitless. And the best part is: modern rods can be as driver-friendly as production cars while offering twice the style. The culmination of spotless original hardware, a team of first class builders and a virtually uncapped budget, this spectacular '37 Ford sedan is about a nice as hot rods come. With its all-steel body, LT1 V8, custom-fabricated undercarriage and outrageous custom aesthetics, it's a magazine featured award winner that's fully sorted and ready for years of enjoyment. Want to view the street rod scene from the best seat in the house? Then have a closer look at this world class Ford! Judging by the pictures included with this hot Ford's sale it already wore a smooth and solid body when Jim Germann, you know - the guy who also built our award winning '66 Chevelle, purchased it from a family of original owners. Nonetheless the car's now two owner body was sent to the experts at Wooding's Auto Body, you know - the guys who've sprayed many of our finest offerings, for a full restoration that resulted in laser-straight lines, a spectacular House of Kolor basecoat, and a glossy clearcoat shell. And today, this sedan is a banner showpiece that celebrates the fusion of some of Ford's greatest design work and some of the best modern mechanical components money can buy. One look down its profile reveals high quality workmanship that's top notch in every way. A close investigation of its body panels reveals even surfaces that are free of ripples and major imperfections. And from its nose to its fat fenders and humpback roofline the car's profile creates one cohesive classic that, despite significant customization, is both tasteful and easily recognized. The beauty of a well done street rod is often found in the simplicity of its execution. In a nod to the hobby's old school hot rodding roots, the best cars are usually topped with a stripped down, all business body that emphasizes their purpose-built, high performance nature. So, when you craft a world class custom like this killer '37 Ford, the best thing to do is let its original curves do the talking and simply enhance what's already there. Our enhancements begin with a Downs stainless grille which rides between two Bob Drake-supplied '39 Ford headlights and two Don's Hot Rods stainless bumpers. Behind that grille a solid steel hood, which now features filled side panels, meets a stainless-trimmed windshield that's devoid of traditional weatherstripping and cleared by relocated wipers. Behind that hood, tinted side and back glass reflects a nice pair of Barry White SRR mirrors and small, polished door handles. Below that glass, modified running boards flow toward lengthened rear fenders that are dotted with clear Ford Escort-supplied tail lights. And at the back of those running boards, an electronically lifted trunk motors above a second Don's Hot Rods stainless bumper and a manual flip-down license plate. Hit number "V" on this slick Ford's small gray key fob and its electronic clamshell hood tilts to reveal a fully detailed GM LT1 V8 that looks awesome and, with roughly 275 horsepower, offers solid, reliable motivation. Built to tear up the street and wow show goers alike, this fully-sorted package combines a sturdy iron block with lightweight aluminum heads, aftermarket fuel injectors and a computer from a fourth generation Trans Am to create razor-sharp throttle response and a torque band that's as wide as Texas. At the front of the body-matched mill a Street and Performance serpentine system, which is equipped with a full set of polished pulleys, spins a fresh alternator and a Vintage Air AC compressor at the sides of a billet air cleaner that's sealed around a small re-usable filter element. Once air enters that filter, it flows through a chrome throttle body into a factory LT1 intake which is bolted down over completely stock internals. High octane fossils are provided by a GM electronic fuel injection system. Sparks are sequenced through high performance plug wires. Spent gases are whisked away by a slick pair of ceramic coated Sanderson headers. And cooling comes courtesy of a polished Walker radiator that's complete with a chrome cap, chrome water tubes and a quick-spinning electric puller fan. On the visual end of the spectrum, silver injector covers and chrome "CHEVROLET" branded valve covers provide a nice contrast to the car's bright exterior paint while covering the less attractive part of GM's block design. The glossy engine compartment, which includes a custom fabricated firewall, has been completely painted, jammed and detailed to match that bright exterior paint. And niceties such as a "Fat Fender Ford" motif, a full assortment of polished hardware and a graceful chrome cowl cover add the kind of flash and detail that pushes the judges right over the edge! Toss this solid custom on a lift and you'll find a fully sorted undercarriage that, despite its road-ready mechanicals, is exceptionally clean and displays very few signs of wear. While its all-steel body was off, and being refinished, this Ford's factory bones were replaced by a custom-fabricated chassis that, with the help of a few floorpan modifications, enables stellar road manners and a much more precise street presence. At the front of that new chassis, a polished Heidts Superide suspension makes excellent use of narrowed stainless control arms, chrome Aldan coil overs, two inch drop spindles and a chrome Flaming River rack and pinion steering system. At the back of that new chassis a Heidts independent suspension, which is completely stainless, chromed and polished, is fitted with a four more Aldan coil overs. And the car's original four wheel drum brake system has been freshened to better-than-new condition with the help of four polished Wilwood calipers, drilled and slotted front rotors and solid rear rotors. At the center of the floors, a polished 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission makes good use of a polished aluminum driveshaft and a polished aluminum Ford nine inch rear end that's complete with a posi-traction differential and big 3.70 gears. At the sides of that awesome driveline, the aforementioned Sanderson headers dump spent gases into a fresh stainless exhaust system that's complete with sinister Borla mufflers. And at the corners of the car, beautiful Bonspeed Crocus wheels spin 225/40ZR17 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZR radials in front of 275/30ZR20 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZR radials. According to this Ford's current owner, everything on its highly hand-fabricated chassis is either chrome, stainless or polished aluminum. And naturally, new stainless lines, a full set of braided hoses, a stainless Rock Valley fuel tank and a whole array of finishing hardware was carefully installed during its painstaking re-assembly. Open the doors of this classic sedan and you'll find a tasteful custom interior which combines the car's spectacular House of Kolor paint with supple Lexus leather that feels nice enough to adorn the centerpiece of your living room. The firm and modern buckets, four all total, are supportive, feel soft enough to take a nap on, and feature custom "FFF" (Fat Fender Ford) center buttons. At the sides of those seats custom door panels hang sculpted leather armrests between four power windows and four "FFF" branded speakers. Between those seats two custom all-steel consoles prop controls for the car's Vintage Air climate system, a clean Lokar shifter, a small chrome gear indicator and a fifth, "V8" branded speaker above premium gray carpet. In front of those seats a custom dash, which is constructed of solid aluminum, cants frenched Haneline gauges toward the driver while pointing polished Phipps AC vents at both the passengers and said driver. And above those seats, a custom leather headliner is stretched tightly around body-matched accents, small orange courtesy lamps and a third Barry White SRR mirror. In front of the driver, a polished Budnik steering wheel spins on a polished Billet Industries tilt steering column. At the back of the cockpit, a custom upholstered trunk conceals two Optima batteries, a 500 watt JL Audio amplifier and an eight inch subwoofer behind a remote controlled Custom Autosound 10 disc CD changer and a small Sony DVD player. That DVD player is connected to a 17 inch trunk-mounted video screen, two trunk mounted speakers, two wireless Sony headsets and two additional Sony video monitors that are located in the backs of the front seats. And from its completely hidden fasteners to its completely detailed door jams, this car's cockpit has to be one of the finest interiors we've ever offered. Naturally, after Jim Germann finished building it and Wooding's Auto Body finished slicking it up, this pristine blue oval street rod hit the show circuit and scored many national awards. The car's long list of prestigious accolades includes:2007 NSRA Pro's Pick Top Five at the Street Rod Nationals South in Knoxville, Tennessee2006 NSRA Pro's Pick Top Five at the Richmond Nationals in Richmond, Virginia2006 Class Winner at the Detroit Autorama in Detroit, Michigan2006 Ridler Contender at the Detroit Autorama in Detroit, Michigan The sale of this awesome Ford includes an original owner's manual, a stack of restoration receipts and component manuals, and a copy of the car's six page spread in the June 2007 edition of Street Rod Builder magazine. Despite the availability of components, building a quality street rod that looks, runs and drives as it should is still a serious undertaking. The builders of this Ford showpiece didn't cut a single corner, and it shows from every angle. With all the right parts and tasteful look that will always draw a crowd, this slick little sedan would be a great addition to any garage. Don't miss the chance to park it in yours!
