Powered by the original 305 CID V8 engine and Borg Warner 4 speed manual transmission, this Z28 for sale is a lot of fun! This Camaro was bought brand new at Hoselton Chevrolet in Rochester New York, sold to a family member in 2011, and the original owner bought it back later on that same year. It has had one repaint to the original color, and the odometer/speedometer was changed out at 10,000 miles to upgrade from the 85 MPH speedometer. The original comes with the car, and by adding the original mileage and the current mileage on the odometer you see just over 43,518 total on the vehicle in its life. The oil is changed every 1,000 miles and the car has been garage kept its entire life. It runs, idles, and handles like a brand new 1982 Camaro! 1982 was a big year for the Camaro as it paced the Indy 500, it is the first year for the 3rd Generation of Camaro, hatchback body style, fuel injected engines, and optional 4 cylinders. ENGINE Although the second-generation Super Sport's ferocious Turbo Jet V8 was conservatively rated at 450 horsepower, it actually punched the dyno somewhere north of 500. At the center of that frame, a correctly decaled, single-snorkel air cleaner forces oxygen in to a correct 4557 Holley, which is threaded onto a 1970-exclusive 3963569 Winters intake. The car's rebuilt power front disc and rear drum brake system is present, accounted for and functions exceptionally well. The aforementioned exhaust manifolds dump spent gases in to true-dual pipes, which breathe through Xlerator turbo mufflers and polished stainless tips. Power meets the pavement through stylish Super Sport wheels, which lap F70-14 Goodyear Polyglas tires around stainless trim rings and requisite "SS" center caps. And the car's soild floors are coated in correct Oxide Red pigment. INTERIOR Featuring a host of new components, and decked in correct Black vinyl, this convertible's fully restored interior feels comfortable and inviting. Its slick front bucket and rear bench seats, which feature embossed weave patterns that were designed to keep passenger's backs cool, show hardly any signs of wear. In front of those seats, a straight and crack-free dash hangs a deluxe Chevelle gauge cluster above correct climate controls and a Delco AM radio. Below that dash, fresh black carpet centers a chrome Muncie shifter inside an attractive, stainless-trimmed console. At the sides of that carpet, clean door panels hang spotless "SS" emblems between crank windows and manual door locks. Up for sale is a 1970 Corvette Coupe, Matching #'s. The Mileage is subject to change as I do drive it from time to time around the neighborhood. I have owned this vette for a little over a year. Since I bought it I have invested around $10,000 on Paint, Mechanical, Bumpers and Interior. This is a low production year and the options on this car are rare as a group. The original color was Marlboro Maroon and Black. It was Red when I bought the car. It was repainted Red about a year ago costing around $5000.00. Previous owner changed hood to accommodate the intake and carburetor modification. The Tach and clock do not work. Tach needs a cable. I am selling due to lack of room as I have 3 other vehicles. According to the previous owner it was purchased in Florida, then to Nebraska, New York, and now in Texas. I have a box of receipts that came with the car as well as what was done by me. It is not perfect but the price reflects that and these cars are appreciating. The motor was rebuilt (very strong) before I got the car and Mobile 1 was used for the oil choice. Chevrolet Corvette (C1) GM Factory Info The Chevrolet Corvette (C1) is the first generation of the sports car by the Chevrolet division of General Motors introduced late in the 1953 model year and produced through 1962. It is commonly referred to as the "solid-axle" generation, as the independent rear suspension did not appear until the 1963 Sting Ray. The Corvette was rushed into production for its debut model year to capitalize on the enthusiastic public reaction to the concept vehicle, but expectations for the new model were largely unfulfilled. Reviews were mixed and sales fell far short of expectations through the car's early years. The program was nearly canceled, but Chevrolet would ultimately stay the course and Harley Earl and company would transform the Corvette into a true world-class sports car. History Origin 1951 In 1927 General Motors hired designer Harley Earl who loved sports cars. GIs returning after serving overseas in the years following World War II were bringing home MGs, Jaguars, Alfa Romeos, and the like. In 1951, Nash Motors began selling an expensive two-seat sports car, the Nash-Healey, that was made in partnership with the Italian designer Pinin Farina and British auto engineer Donald Healey, but there were few moderate-priced models. Earl convinced GM that they needed to build a two-seat sports car, and with his Special Projects crew began working on the new car, "Project Opel" in late 1951. The result was the hand-built, EX-122 pre-production Corvette prototype, which was first shown to the public at the 1953 GM Motorama at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City on January 17, 1953. Production began six months later. The car is now located at the Kerbeck Corvette museum in Atlantic City and is believed to be the oldest Corvette in existence. Design and engineering Corvette logo During the last half of 1953, 300 Corvettes were to large degree hand-built on a makeshift assembly line that was installed in an old truck plant in Flint, Michigan[4] while a factory was being prepped for a full-scale 1954 production run. The outer body was made out of then-revolutionary fiberglass material, selected in part because quotas, left over from the war, limited the availability of steel. A 55 degree raked windshield was made of safety glass, while the license plate holder was set back in the trunk, covered with a plastic window. Underneath the new body material were standard components from Chevrolet's regular car line, including the "Blue Flame" inline six-cylinder engine, two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission, and drum brakes. The engine's output was increased however from a triple-carburetor system exclusive to the Corvette, but performance of the car was decidedly "lackluster". Compared to the British and Italian sports cars of the day, the Corvette lacked a manual transmission and required more effort to bring to a stop, but like their British competition, such as Morgan, was not fitted with roll-up windows; this would have to wait until sometime in the 1956 model year. A Paxton centrifugal supercharger became available in 1954 as a dealer-installed option, greatly improving the Corvette's straight-line performance, but sales continued to decline. The Chevrolet division was GM's entry-level marque. Managers at GM were seriously considering shelving the project,[14] leaving the Corvette to be little more than a footnote in automotive history, and would have done so if not for three important events. The first was the 1955 introduction of Chevrolet's first V8 engine since 1919. Late in the model year, the new 195 hp (145 kW)265 small-block became available with a three-speed manual transmission, coupled to a 3.55:1 axle ratio, the only one offered. The engine was fitted with a single 2366S WCFB four-barrel (four-choke) Carter carburetor.The combination turned the "rather anemic Corvette into a credible if not outstanding performer". The second was the influence of a Russian emigre in GM's engineering department, Zora Arkus-Duntov. The third factor in the Corvette's survival was Ford's introduction of the 1955 two-seat Thunderbird, which was billed as a "personal luxury car", not a sports car. Even so, the Ford-Chevrolet rivalry in those days demanded GM not appear to back down from the challenge. The original concept for the Corvette emblem incorporated an American flag into the design, but was changed well before production since associating the flag with a product was frowned upon. 1956-1957 There was no doubt Chevrolet was in the sports car business with the release of the 1956 model. It featured a new body, a much better convertible top with power assist optional, real glass roll up windows (also with optional power assist), and an optional hardtop. The 3-speed manual transmission was standard. The Powerglide automatic was optional. The six-cylinder engine was gone. The V8 remained at 265 cubic inches but power ranged from 210 hp to 240 hp. The volume was 3,167, a low number by any contemporary standard and still less than 1954's 3,640, meaning this was the third lowest-volume model in Corvette history. Rare options: RPO 449 special camshaft with the 240 hp engine (111), power windows (547)]Delco Radio transistorized signal-seeking (hybrid) car radio, which used both vacuum tubes and transistors in its radio's circuitry (1956 option). Visually the 1957 model was a near-twin to 1956. Engine displacement increased to 283 cu in (4.6 L), fuel injection became optional, and a 4-speed manual transmission was available after April 9, 1957. Fuel injection first saw regular use on a gasoline engine two years prior on the Mercedes-Benz 300SL "Gullwing". Although the Corvette's GM-Rochester injection used a constant flow system, as opposed to the diesel style nozzle metering system of the Mercedes', the Corvette's engine nevertheless produced about 290 hp (216 kW) (gross). This was underrated by Chevrolet's advertising agency for the 283 hp (211 kW) 283 small-block V8 one hp per in3 slogan, making it one of the first mass-produced engines in history to reach 1 hp/in3. Pushed toward high-performance and racing, principally by Zora Arkus-Duntov who had raced in Europe, 1957 Corvettes could be ordered ready-to-race with special options. During the disarray of the 80s malaise scene, there was hardcore gearheads. And even now, with increasing cost of ownership becoming the norm, there are still diehard gearheads. No matter where the future leads, there will ALWAYS be lifestyle enthusiasts who build a culture around the rush of turning transportation into art; and unless you're one of us, it's something you'll never understand. So, what happens when a bona fide automotive power couple executes a 45 week build with virtually no limits? You get a mind numbing head turner like this 1955 Chevrolet 3100! The product of an uncompromising vision and many talented builders, this stunning Chevy wraps a 375 horsepower small block and 5-speed Tremec transmission in a custom suspension and one-of-a-kind appearance. And, if you're a fellow enthusiast who's looking to satisfy an unrelenting need to win trophies and make a big statement, it's the magazine featured pickup of your dreams! Flo and Gary Garman had built cars before. Their first project, a '55 Chevy sedan entitled 'Fun', took 35 weeks from start to finish. Then, as if that wasn't impressive enough, 'Juicy', a second '55 Chevy sedan went from concept to show queen in a mere 25 weeks. Now, when I say "built", I don't mean called shops and scheduled work. This dynamic duo hauled the cars to their 2.5-bay garage, rolled up their sleeves and made the magic happen. The third time around, Gary wanted to build a '55 Chevy truck. With an easy approval from Flo, he hit Craigslist and promptly found a 10 year long project that had stalled with a disinterested owner and boxes of parts. The only stipulations on this newfound cruiser were: 1) Gary wanted a red interior and 2) Flo wanted a green exterior. Adopting a color combo that was obviously ripe for a theme, the couple ruled out Christmas, nixed stoplights and settled on what seemed like the next logical choice: watermelons. And, with the stage set, they shopped salvage yards, perused the Carlisle flea market and started the stopwatch on their latest "Home Grown" creation. Work began with Flo part-sourcing while Gary, with the help of expert body technician Butch Grossman, patched and welded the truck's exterior panels. The cab was shipped to family friend Chess Sprenkle of Chess Sprenkle Body & Paint in York Haven, Pennsylvania. And, upon its return, carefully ground welds were sealed in custom PPG green that's based on a cool combination of Home Depot and Martha Stewart paint swatches. Remarkably smooth and ready for assembly, random parts migrated out of Gary's homemade paint booth after Flo's usual ritual of wet-sanding. 'Ripe watermelon wear marks' and custom door logos came courtesy of family friend Dane Geesey of DGeez Signs & Graphics in Yoe, Pennsylvania. And, in late 2011, the truck rolled into the Maryland East Coast Indoor Nationals to claim the first of its many awards. Today, this stunning Half Ton is a unique combination of time, talent and exceptional attention to detail. And with its killer paint, stalwart small block and stylish leather interior, it's the kind of top notch custom that's guaranteed to make you weak in the knees! As expected, this awesome Chevy's first rate detailing highlights both its solid form and stunning paint. At the front of the truck, a polished egg crate grille rides between chrome-trimmed headlights, bullet-style parking lamps and a bright chrome bumper. Above that grille, a Bel Air-inspired hood hangs a prominent Chevrolet crest in front of stainless-trimmed glass, appearance-specific wipers and a modified Truck Shop visor. At the sides of that hood, body-matched emblems and a short antenna combine with aftermarket mirrors, chrome door handles and a locking, bowtie-branded gas cap to detail a clean 'flow though' profile. Opposite those emblems, a spectacular Oak bed is held down by spotless stainless skid strips. And at the back of that bed, an embossed tailgate loops sleeved chains over a polished tag bracket, LED tail lights and a second chrome bumper. Hoist this custom's rolled hood and you'll find a 355 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 that, thanks to the pros at American Speed, creates a stout 375 horsepower. At the top of the blueprinted mill, a watermelon themed air cleaner, custom-fabricated from two Freon bottles, forces wind into a coated Street Avenger carburetor that's juiced by a coated Edelbrock fuel pump and polished stainless fluid lines. At the base of that Holley, a green Edelbrock intake hangs a green distributor between Chevrolet-branded valve covers and polished wire looms. Below those looms, green plug wires snake around coated Doug's headers. And in front of those headers, attractive Tru Trac pulleys spin a modern power steering pump between a polished alternator, a polished AC compressor, a Cooling Components puller fan and a watermelon-detailed Griffin radiator. Aesthetically, both the bright green small block and its assortment of hand-picked accessories look right at home seated low in their smoothed and body-matched frame. And details like bowtie-branded caps, a high-torque mini starter and Goodyear Gatorback belts ensure this truck runs every bit as good as it looks. Shimmy under this Chevy and you'll find a super clean undercarriage that's been prepped, primped and polished to match the truck's slick engine bay and stunning exterior. The dressed 355's power flows from a familiar Tremec TKO600 5-speed to a narrowed Bronco rear end that's fitted with 3.50 gears and a posi-traction differential. That proven axle pushes the truck on green Chassis Engineering leafs, which are attached to equally green shocks. Tracking is provided by a Fatman independent front suspension, which is complete with polished control arms, 2-inch drop spindles and Fatman power rack and pinion steering. Quick stops are a cinch thanks to power 4-wheel disc brakes. And that chassis hangs from a body-matched frame that's been sandblasted, boxed and filled. At the center of that frame, large-diameter, true-dual exhaust routes ceramic coated pipes through an X-shaped crossover, throaty Flowmaster mufflers and polished stainless tips. At the corners of the floor, 15-inch Wheel Smith Smoothies throw torque through 205/70 front and 255/60 rear Diamond Back Classic whitewalls. And everything, from the truck's modern brake booster to its braided brake lines, is well-planned, exceptionally executed and ready to roll! But the show doesn't stop there. Not by a long shot! When you pop this pickup's doors, you'll find a fully insulated cockpit that features glowing leather surfaces. Top dead center, a chrome-detailed dash hangs Classic Instruments gauges between a Custom Autosound head unit, Vintage Air climate control and a small Guide traffic light viewer. In front of that dash, a sculpted seat, which was cribbed from a 1995 GMC Safari, centers chrome crests between small panels, stainless handles and textured, Chevrolet-branded steps. Below that seat, fresh California Carpet balances color-keyed and chrome detailed floor mats between custom kick panels, big Pioneer speakers and a watermelon-topped shifter. Opposite that carpet, a basket weave headliner perfectly complements modern shoulder belts and cool, basket weave sun visors. And in front of the driver, a painted Ididit steering column spins a small-diameter wheel around an airbrushed center piece and high quality Haywire wiring. This pristine Chevy has garnered MANY prestigious accolades. This car looks awesome with the 3” raised hood, the stripes, side pipes, and wheels. At first glance, you would think it’s one of the Baldwin Motion cars. It just screams MUSCLE VETTE! This is a numbers matching L82 Corvette with a 4-speed in a great color combo of Black with Saddle interior. The body is in great shape. The paint shows well with a gorgeous shine and mirror finish. The interior is mostly original and still looks great. The 350 engine runs very strong. It has been enhanced with an Edelbrock aluminum intake, headers, and a complete Mallory ignition including the distributor and coil. The suspension rides super nice. The steering is effortless. The brakes stop awesome. It goes down the road excellent. It has a good amount of power and makes all the right noises out of the exhaust. This Corvette has a lot of recent servicing and parts. The brakes were redone with a new master cylinder & stainless brake calipers and new rotors, new aluminum radiator and hoses, new JVC stereo and speakers, rechromed rear bumper, rebuilt front suspension, new wheel bearings, new front and rear sway bars, new traction bar, carburetor rebuilt 250 miles ago, new ignition, new heater core and hoses, new alternator, new steering box and rag joint, new rear leaf springs, new KYB shocks, and new battery. The Chevrolet Corvette (C1) is the first generation of the sports car by the Chevrolet division of General Motors introduced late in the 1953 model year and produced through 1962. It is commonly referred to as the "solid-axle" generation, as the independent rear suspension did not appear until the 1963 Sting Ray. The Corvette was rushed into production for its debut model year to capitalize on the enthusiastic public reaction to the concept vehicle, but expectations for the new model were largely unfulfilled. Reviews were mixed and sales fell far short of expectations through the car's early years. The program was nearly canceled, but Chevrolet would ultimately stay the course and Harley Earl and company would transform the Corvette into a true world-class sports cars 50th Anniversary. Origin 1951 In 1927 General Motors hired designer Harley Earl who loved sports cars. GIs returning after serving overseas in the years following World War II were bringing home MGs, Jaguars, Alfa Romeos, and the like. In 1951, Nash Motors began selling an expensive two-seat sports car, the Nash-Healey, that was made in partnership with the Italian designer Pinin Farina and British auto engineer Donald Healey, but there were few moderate-priced models. Earl convinced GM that they needed to build a two-seat sports car, and with his Special Projects crew began working on the new car, "Project Opel" in late 1951. The result was the hand-built, EX-122 pre-production Corvette prototype, which was first shown to the public at the 1953 GM Motorama at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City on January 17, 1953. Production began six months later. The car is now located at the Kerbeck Corvette museum in Atlantic City and is believed to be the oldest Corvette in existence. Design and engineering During the last half of 1953, 300 Corvettes were to large degree hand-built on a makeshift assembly line that was installed in an old truck plant in Flint, Michigan while a factory was being prepped for a full-scale 1954 production run. The outer body was made out of then-revolutionary fiberglass material, selected in part because quotas, left over from the war, limited the availability of steel. A 55 degree raked windshield was made of safety glass, while the license plate holder was set back in the trunk, covered with a plastic window. Underneath the new body material were standard components from Chevrolet's regular car line, including the "Blue Flame" inline six-cylinder engine, two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission, and drum brakes. The engine's output was increased however from a triple-carburetor system exclusive to the Corvette, but performance of the car was decidedly "lackluster". Compared to the British and Italian sports cars of the day, the Corvette lacked a manual transmission and required more effort to bring to a stop, but like their British competition, such as Morgan, was not fitted with roll-up windows; this would have to wait until sometime in the 1956 model year. A Paxton centrifugal supercharger became available in 1954 as a dealer-installed option, greatly improving the Corvette's straight-line performance, but sales continued to decline. The Chevrolet division was GM's entry-level marque. Managers at GM were seriously considering shelving the project, leaving the Corvette to be little more than a footnote in automotive history, and would have done so if not for three important events. The first was the 1955 introduction of Chevrolet's first V8 engine since 1919. Late in the model year, the new 195 hp (145 kW) 265 small-block became available with a three-speed manual transmission, coupled to a 3.55:1 axle ratio, the only one offered. The engine was fitted with a single 2366S WCFB four-barrel (four-choke) Carter carburetor. The combination turned the "rather anemic Corvette into a credible if not outstanding performer". The second was the influence of a Russian emigre in GM's engineering department, Zora Arkus-Duntov. The third factor in the Corvette's survival was Ford's introduction of the 1955 two-seat Thunderbird, which was billed as a "personal luxury car", not a sports car. Even so, the Ford-Chevrolet rivalry in those days demanded GM not appear to back down from the challenge. The original concept for the Corvette emblem incorporated an American flag into the design, but was changed well before production since associating the flag with a product was frowned upon. 1956 - 1957 There was no doubt Chevrolet was in the sports car business with the release of the 1956 model. It featured a new body, a much better convertible top with power assist optional, real glass roll up windows (also with optional power assist), and an optional hardtop. The 3-speed manual transmission was standard. The Powerglide automatic was optional. The six-cylinder engine was gone. The V8 remained at 265 cubic inches but power ranged from 210 hp to 240 hp. The volume was 3,167, a low number by any contemporary standard and still less than 1954's 3,640, meaning this was the third lowest-volume model in Corvette history. Rare options: RPO 449 special camshaft with the 240 hp engine (111), power windows (547). Delco Radio transistorized signal-seeking (hybrid) car radio, which used both vacuum tubes and transistors in its radio's circuitry (1956 option). Visually the 1957 model was a near-twin to 1956. Engine displacement increased to 283 cu in (4.6 L), fuel injection became optional, and a 4-speed manual transmission was available after April 9, 1957. Fuel injection first saw regular use on a gasoline engine two years prior on the Mercedes-Benz 300SL "Gullwing". Although the Corvette's GM-Rochester injection used a constant flow system, as opposed to the diesel style nozzle metering system of the Mercedes', the Corvette's engine nevertheless produced about 290 hp (216 kW) (gross). This was underrated by Chevrolet's advertising agency for the 283 hp (211 kW) 283 small-block V8 one hp per in3 slogan, making it one of the first mass-produced engines in history to reach 1 hp/in3. Pushed toward high-performance and racing, principally by Zora Arkus-Duntov who had raced in Europe, 1957 Corvettes could be ordered ready-to-race with special options.
