One bubble found in the paint on the hood and a scrape in the paint can be found at the drivers rear quarter. Light pitting found in tail light trim and drivers front window has a crack at the corner. Interior Interior is in very good shape. Some pitting and light surface rust found at window trim and bows across headliner. Stitching has come apart at the base of the passenger seat. Heater and AC controls work. Stereo has been upgraded with SiriusXM controls mounted on floor. Instruments have been upgraded, tach does not seem to be registering correct RPMs. Front seats are heated. Mechanical 350 SBC starts easily and runs very well. Engine has only 4,000 miles since rebuild. Front brakes have been upgraded to disc with power booster. Some light scratches can be found in the paint throughout, likely all can be taken care of with a good buff. Two small cracks in the paint found at both sides of the hatch towards the rear. Paint was scratched and touched up on the rear passenger side quarter panel in front of the wheel. Interior Interior shows signs of wear, drivers seat shows use as pictured. Some staining can be found on the carpet mostly confined to the passenger area behind the seat. Mechanical Corvette runs well, no issues from any mechanical or electrical component. Body is rust free and in good shape with a small impression in the metal on passenger door. There are some scratches few confined mostly to the roof and trunk areas in the paint. There are a few chips in the paint found throughout the body but nothing major. Chrome and trim are in good shape with no evidence of rust or cracks. Some scrapes are present in both. Front turn signal lenses are complete but chipped at the corners, all other lights, lenses and glass are free from damage. Trim/glass channel on drivers side is missing between front and rear windows. Interior Interior is original and in reasonable shape, seats show some marks, small tear found in rear seat on passenger side. There’s a Monster brand tach mounted on the dash. Trunk is unfinished with a pair of 12 inch woofers. Dash is cracked and slightly torn around the speaker grill. Staining on carpet at front passenger area. Mechanical Engine runs well and has a very healthy sound through the ceramic coated headers and Flowmaster exhaust. The carburetor and intake manifold are Eldebrock high performance. Lots of chrome under the hood, including the alternator, power steering pump, master cylinder and booster as well as the Edelbrock air cleaner and valve covers. Edelbrock intake and MSD ignition help bring up the power of this engine. The radiator is upgraded to a 4 row aluminum with dual electric fans. Transmission is a rebuilt TH350 with a 2,400/3,000 stall converter. Tires are mounted on custom Foose rims and appear new, 17s on the front, 18s on the rear. Slide behind the wheel in that beautiful interior and you almost expect to find the new car smell. This beautiful Chevy is a two door hard top with a 283 and automatic transmission. It’s a basic car without power steering or power brakes. This Chevy was restored in 1986 and has been in storage since then. Restoration included body work and paint, upholstery, rechromed bumpers with the engine and transmission rebuilt. Brake cylinders and tires were replaced at the last service and the car has been lightly driven for the past few years. The car runs and drives nicely, but it idles a bit rough so the carb may need some attention. This old Chevy is complete except for the original radio. The owner also wanted to give some history and background to her car, below is a letter in her own words: Dear prospective new owner: This is a brief history (and love letter), and an answer to why this wonderful vehicle is being sold. My beloved aunt gifted the 57 Chevy to me on my 17th birthday. The car had been bequeathed to her from a childhood boyfriend who became a life-long friend. They maintained a bi-coastal friendship until his untimely death. My aunt’s husband provided my initial driving instructions for the Chevy. Slow into the curve and accelerate out as we motored through the Bay Area hills. I must note that, to this day, I still cannot parallel park. At the conclusion of my two-week introduction to this mysterious, throaty and powerful vehicle, my aunt gave me the keys. For most of my life this Chevy has been my transport to school, college, jobs (a “company car”) and running out for shopping. My beloved Chevy has enjoyed the challenges of travelling to Yosemite, parking at the beaches in Santa Cruz and the back and forth of I5 and Highway 99. Her favorite travel destination was the Napa/Sonoma wine country. Upon leaving a winery I would often come upon folks who once owned a Chevy, lost a Chevy, enjoyed the drive-in movies in a Chevy, went on a prom date in a Chevy, or travelled on their honeymoon in a Chevy. This car was admired and photographed by many people recapturing their memories. As you can see from above, my Chevy was never a trophy car, although guys I dated always wanted to drive my car. This was a working car owned by a woman who appreciated its trunk capacity that could handle the numerous boxes of high heels I packed when travelling. When asked about the car’s specifications, I just knew that it was a two-door V8—powerful and gorgeous. Transitions occur. I thought the Chevy would always be mine until my job began to require increasingly lengthy road trips that the Chevy found challenging, and gas prices started escalating. Power brakes and steering began to look attractive. But it was the company I worked for (which provided a car allowance) that finally said, “get a modern car”, and so I did. That car was a Lexus SC430 coupe, which became my new dream car. It didn’t replace the Chevy—it was just radically different. For example, its small trunk couldn’t haul nearly the number of shoes that the Chevy could. The Lexus was recently totaled in a stupid rear-end accident, and sadly my 57 Chevy cannot transition back into the every day car she originally was. I always thought she was a keeper, but sadly I must now let her go. I hope that the new owner will experience the same enjoyment I did over the past 49 years. Some slight scratches can be found in the trim above the grill but no signs of dents/rust found in any of the stainless or chrome. All glass (soft-ray tinted), lights and lenses are also free from damage. Grill is a reproduction but all other trim is either NOS or refinished. Wheels are original 14x6 sized for the station wagons. Interior Interior has been reupholstered using factory NOS material and then covered with plastic seat covers. Cargo area was repainted and color matched to the original. Door panels are original, show a slight amount of staining in the corners but for their age are in great condition. Mechanical Engine starts easily and runs well. Transmission and overdrive shift as they should. No surprises from suspension, brakes or power steering. All gauges, radio and even clock appear to be working. The engine is original to this wagon and has not been rebuilt, mileage shown on odometer is correct for the engine. Glamour trucks, as they were known for the second generation, were also known by General Motors as the "Action Line". With numerous refinements and additions for comfort, these trucks changed the market in a whole new way. In 1968 Chevrolet was celebrating 50 years of truck manufacturing, and although this is not the 50th Anniversary edition truck, this generation and style is hands down a favorite of Chevrolet Truck collectors. Offered For Sale by the California Automobile Museum A 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Long Bed Regular Cab 2X4 Pick-up. This truck could very well be one of the nicest examples of the second generation Chevrolet trucks in driving condition you can find. It has experienced 6 owners in its 43 years, two of which were dealerships and for the last 29 years cared for and maintained by its current owner. It has a newer paint job done in a very professional manner. The body is amazingly straight considering its age and that it has not been professionally restored. The only visible dents are on the roof and are small. It is equipped with a hard fiberglass toneau cover that seals and locks. The bed is in great shape with no major dents or damage generally found in trucks of this age. It is also lined with wood and carpeting. In addition, there is a convenient light mounted in the rear corner. There is just a little rust visible below the driver's and passenger's doors and it appears to be only on the surface. There are no holes, and there is no soft or flaking metal. All of the glass is intact and clear. No major cracks, chips, or blemishes are readily visible. The exterior lighting is all operational and all of the lenses are intact and in relatively good shape minus a little overspray on the markers. The aftermarket rims and Michelin tires are clean and in good shape, tires being nearly brand new. The interior is neat and clean but not perfect. The seat has been re-upholstered but the remaining areas still retain their original coverings and or paint. As mentioned above, this is an excellent driver, ready for nearly any thing you could need a half ton truck for. It is in nearly perfect operational shape, needing only minor repairs to the windshield washer system, the interior dome light, and a replacement lever for the defrost control. Everything else works properly. There are no odd noises or irritating rattles. Mechanically, this is as good as they come. It has a new 290 H.P. GM Performance Crate engine, 350 C.I.D. with a Turbo 375 transmission transferring power to the wheels. The driving, steering, braking, and handling are all dialed in and this truck is a comfort and joy to drive. The engine itself is powerful and runs great. It has a mild performance cam shaft so at idle there is a little bit of a stumble, especially when cold. Relisting this car! Last auction there were 20+ offers and most of them were reasonable and some were 'low ball' offers. For the sake of efficiency I'll let you know now that I will not consider offers under $60K. Many of your offers are very close and if you want a high quality solid driver that needs nothing to show at your average car show and to enjoy driving anywhere, then this is a great car at half the price of a numbers matching car. You can't buy another car & build it with all the correct big block components for less than what I'm asking for this machine. Please review the complete description below as this is everything I know about the car. Full disclosure is my style so there are no surprises for you or me when you buy the car. After reading the text below and viewing the pictures you'll know everything I know about the car. This is a Tuxedo Black Coupe with the L71 Motor Package. The car's records and stampings indicate that it was likely a small block car that was correctly converted to the big block 427 sometime in the early 1980's. Odometer shows 54,8XX miles on the chassis. It appears to have had a few misc. things updated/restored on it over the years but most of the car appears to be original or it was an older restoration. Unfortunately the fuel tank was replaced at some point so the original tank sticker is also gone. All that said, this is a VERY NICE, complete, and un-molested example of the 435HP Tri-Power 1967 Corvette Coupe. If you're a collector of mid-year Corvettes this is the most desirable color and performance package. Black on Black w/Red Stinger Hood. If it was a correct numbers matching L71 Tuxedo Black car it would be worth $150K. This is a great driver and if you're not going to have the car judged, then this is an awesome driver for a driving enthusiast! The L71's high compression, wild cam, and the tri-carb ensured legendary performance. GM’s concern for reliability meant that automatic transmissions and air conditioning were not available on the L71. At $437.10, the L71 package was expensive, yet 3,754 (16% of Corvette production that year) were ordered, 49 of which were Black Coupes. The L71 was an evolution of the L72, which produced a claimed 425 horsepower (SAE gross). The L71 replaced the single Holley 4-barrel of the L72 with three Holley 2-barrel carburetors, similar to what Pontiac had offered since the early 1960s. With the tri-carb arrangement, only the center carburetor was functional during normal driving. But stomp the accelerator and the vacuum-activated outer carbs delivered a torrent of fuel to the hungry big block. Chevrolet rated the L71 at 435 hp, but many believed the L71 to be close to 550hp. What the L71’s tri-carbs did deliver was better fuel economy in daily driving, since it was essentially a 2-barrel engine until the need for speed hit. Since the only automatic transmission available to Chevrolet in ’67 was the aging 2-speed Powerglide, the L71 was only available with the M21 Close Ratio Muncie 4-speed manual, making this a powertrain for serious drivers. Motor: 11:1 427 High Performance L71, Mechanical Lifters, Special Factory Cams, Electronic Ignition. (factory original 'TI' ignition) Carburetion: Tri Power (3) 2 barrel carburetors. Front and Rear are original, center carb is NOS. Original center carb needs a complete rebuild but does come in a box with the car. Intake manifold is also correct and original. You may notice in the pics that there's a rubber fuel line with a glass in-line filter on the car. I run this glass filter to monitor the fuel and catch any crap that would clog the Holley metal filters in the bowl of the carbs. I do have the original metal fuel line that runs from the pump up to the carburetor fuel manifold. Transmission: It appears that the transmission main case may have been replaced at some point in the cars life. The case is the later M21/M22 variation with the earlier (correct for 1967) tail shaft housing and correct stud type Side Cover using 3/8" x 16 studs. It appears to be a hybrid M21 from the what is stamped in the case. However, only removal and inspection will determine what input shaft, output shaft, and type it really is. (M21 or M22 internals) We suspect that this may have M22 internals as it has a different whining noise when compared to other Muncie M21's. (straighter cut gears) I have 2 other cars with M21's and the gears in this box sound different. Power Steering: Power Assist Ram type - factory stock type and recently replaced Ram and hoses. Suspension: Stock Brakes: Stock with Stainless Steel Sleeved Calipers Radiator: In the car now is a $700 Ron Davis Aluminum cross flow radiator with hidden overflow catch bottle. The original copper & brass radiator (in perfect shape) is in a box and comes with the car. Chrome & Trim: All stainless trim and chrome on the car is original and in very good condition. The only exception is the upper drivers side corner windshield trim piece that is not seated correctly. A complete duplicate set of 4 bumpers (2 front & 2 rear) comes with the car in the event that you want to re-chrome and install a 2nd set. Glass: Appears to be all original Paint: From the records I received with the car it appears that the car was painted in about 1981. Paint looks phenomenal for being 33 years old and I get compliments on how nice it is whenever it's out on the road. Fiberglass: There are 2 or 3 stress cracks on the car. One very small one on the center of the hood. Most likely when someone had something on top of the air cleaner and closed the lid. Barely noticeable. The other 2 are between the hood opening and the headlight openings. Fairly common and these are VERY minor and hard to notice unless you're looking for them. No other cracks or stress fractures in the body. Doors: I'm mentioning doors because I've seen some very bad fitting doors on mid-year cars. These doors fit absolutely perfectly with proper sized and even gaps all the way around both doors. Very nice fit! Exhaust: Stock rear exit exhaust. Car comes with a duplicate painted (in Tuxedo Black Code 900) OEM rear valance with no holes for exhaust. This can be used if car is converted to side exhaust. Wheels: Steel Rally Wheels with stock driver quality beauty rings and original metal center caps. A brand new set of beauty rings comes with the car. (new in box) Wheels could use re-finishing. Interior: Black Vinyl. Appears to be original including the carpet. If the seats were ever recovered they appear to be with OEM covers. Not repro quality and if re-covered it had to have been done back in the late 70's or early 80's. Headlights: Operate but one is a little slower to raise than the other. Both do work. Vehicle History: AO Smith built car built on June 21st. AO Smith out of Ashtabula, Ohio (Molded Fiber Glass Co.) was the alternate manufacturer of Corvette bodies. There were two factories producing Corvette bodies for mid years ..... GM in St. Louis and AO Smith in Ohio. From the scattered records I have it appears to have been relocated from New York to the Sacramento area in California in the mid 70's. Car changed hands locally 2 or 3 times between 74 and 92. I purchased from the widow of the last owner who was a friend of a friend. Car sat for about 12 years before I found it. Apparently the owner lost his license and life to alcohol so the car was only occasionally run during that 12 year period. The car sat covered for about 5 years after his passing. Known Issues: Drivers side wing window crank mechanism needs repair. Common problem easily repaired or replace crank mechanism. Drivers side upper windshield corner trim. Corner piece is not sitting in the rubber seal correctly. May be able to re-seat or it may need to be replaced. Reproductions are available but I won't put any repro parts on this car. Looking for an OEM NOS part for this if it does need to be replaced. Heater Blower works intermittently - haven't jumped the switch yet to isolate that as the problem. That'll be your job! Clock isn't working but this is an easy fix using a quartz conversion kit. Repairs Conducted: Power Steering Ram & Hose Replacement Carburetor rebuilds and replaced center carburetor (as mentioned above, original center carb is in a box) New & Correct Master Cylinder replacement along with full flush and rebuild of all calipers. Calipers are stainless steel sleeved. Full Alignment Basic Tune-up How does she run? I have this car tuned perfectly. Idles perfect, timing, etc. The car runs very well! A very healthy motor with no significant leaks, etc. She is also a brute when you unleash all 6 barrels! Well over 500HP. Why am I selling? I have too many cars, I'm out of space, and I have 2 more cars coming back from shops in the next few months. I need room and something has to go. Since I only drive this car once every couple of months it's either this car or an older Porsche that have to go to create room for more project cars.
