1971 Oldsmobile 442Ultra Rare, Matching Numbers, W30 ConvertibleDocumented in the W30 Registry!1 of 10 ProducedEarliest Production Known to Exist & Loaded with Factory Options!Oldsmobile produced only 110 442 W-30 convertibles in 1971, only 10 of which, including this stunning example, were factory equipped with air conditioning. This car is included in the W-30 Registry and has been inspected and verified as an authentic W-30 by a noted W-30/442 authority. A very rare example of Doctor Oldsmobile's finest muscle-car convertible, this W-30 retains its original drivetrain comprising its original numbers-matching engine, transmission and rear end. The engine and W-30-only OW-code transmission bear the original VIN stampings and the original rear axle housing shows the unique code for W-30 cars equipped with factory air conditioning. The car retains the original parts exclusive to the W-30 package, including the original red fender liners, factory GM H-code cylinder heads, OW-code automatic transmission, factory intake manifold, correctly stamped 7041257 carb, 1112034 distributor and other parts unique to the W-30. Finished in its original color of Matador Red and complemented with a White top and interior and White rally stripes on its W-25 Open Air Induction Ram Air Induction Hood, this is one of the most striking color combinations that ever left the Lansing, Michigan, plant. This car is not only the top-of-the-line W-30 but was also ordered with a multitude of options making it even more rare. The factory options list includes the W-30 455 CI engine, 400 Turbo Hydra-Matic high-shift-point automatic transmission with Hurst Dual Gate shifter, factory air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, power top, power steering, tilt column, sport steering wheel, rally gauges, AM/FM Radio with 8-Track tape player, power front disc brakes, and power trunk release. It would likely be impossible to find a more thoroughly equipped and visually arresting W-30 convertible with factory air conditioning. Perhaps the earliest W-30 convertible built, it is believed to be a factory show car. According to GM factory records it was delivered to the GM factory warehouse in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in January of ’71 destined for Midwest car-show duty. A body-off restoration was performed in the mid '80s, when typical rust repair was necessary due to the car’s Midwestern origins. Body panels were sourced from a rust-free donor car and used to keep the car all-original GM sheet metal. After passing through a handful of long-term owners, this factory-air W-30 convertible was purchased by muscle-car collector Mike Guarise. Because of the significance of this car, Mike had the car restored again in 2014 to a much higher standard. This Buick Reatta luxury sports car was carefully hand-crafted by Buick Division of General Motors at the Reatta Craft Center in Lansing, Michigan. It is finished in a great color combination: Artic White exterior, White Convertible Top and Flame Red Leather seats and interior. (See the 2-page picture from the 1991 Buick Sales Catalog.) Includes Leather-Bound Owner’s Portfolio, Signed Craftman’s Log, Pen, Penlight and Tire Gauge, etc, complete in perfect condition. Features: The 1991 Reattas differ substantially from the 1990 model year, not only in fewer units produced, but many new innovations. The Engine was upgraded to the 170HP L-27 Tuned Port V-6 and the Automatic Transmission to a 4T60-E, Electronically Controlled by the PCM to manage Engine power and torque. The addition of 16-inch Wheels, wider tires, a new Bosch ABS braking system, improved sway bar, etc, all contribute to a better handling and safer car. Twilight Sentinel was introduced to control exterior lighting. A Cup Holder in the Center Console, and Power Pull Down for the Rear Top Bow were added. There were only two options, a CD player and 16- way adjustable Driver’s Seat, with Lumbar and Head Rest. This Reatta has both Options. The Factory Standard Features are too numerous to list here, but almost all Power and Luxury options which Buick had to offer were Standard Equipment on the Reatta. Maintenance and Upgrades: Transmission/Transaxle, Power Steering, and Brake System all power-flushed and serviced by Buick/Cadillac Dealer, using BG Products with Lifetime Protection Plans.
