1969 Austin Healey Sprite All Electric Lithium powered Converted when 3 Nissan Leaf prototypes were the closest you could get to a OEM All-Electric car. This car is a daily driver and not a trailer queen. It has a few flaws but if you want attention, this is your car. We get approached at stop lights, grocery stores, home depot, and most places we travel. It has won trophies at car shows. It is driven 15 miles daily. This car was in the 2014 Green Grand Prix at Watkins Glen International NASCAR Speedway in Watkins Glen New York. Google "Green Grand Prix" for more info. Hence the #44 on the passenger side. (The decal can be removed). Driven this year on the Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit this year as well. Painted this year with 2010 Audi Red New convertible top, new master brake cylinder, brake light switch, front brakes, this year. This car was professionally converted to All-Electric by my company Motors City Motors and has been my personal vehicle. FAQ: How fast: 72 mph (went 78 mph with gas motor) How far: Currently about 20 miles but with new batteries about 50 miles Cost to drive: Equal to 250 mpg based on electric at .05/kw(our cost for EV's) at $3.50/gallon of gas How much to insure: $13 with State Farm Cost to register: In Michigan is cost $29/year The motor was professionally rebuilt with new brushes by Beech Electric in Redford, MI. before the conversion. The motor coupler and transmission mounting bracket were professionally manufactured by the same machine shop that makes prototypes for Mack Truck. The seats are from a Mazda M3. The controller is a Curtis. The transmission is the original ribcage 4 speed that has the clutch still attached for safety(mechanical break) and the feel/driving experience of the original motor/transmission combo. The batteries are 5 years old, but they are still working. If the buyer wants, we will replace the batteries at a cost of $1.35 amp/hr and do the labor for free. The car will still need to be paid for fully for in 7 days and the batteries will need to paid for in advance All electrical diagrams and 2 Austin Healey Sprite repair manuals are included with the sale. Free tech support via phone is included for the 1st-6 months after purchase since this car is one of a kind. Few issues: There is a saying that if you don't have a puddle in your driveway, then you don't own a British car. This car is no exception and needs the seal on the rear of the transmission replaced. We add gear fluid a few times a year. The paint above the rear fender on the drivers side rear is cracked because it was too thick when sprayed. Since it is one of the few flaws, we just let it go. This car was registered in Georgia at some time but there is some rust thru in the floorboards on the passenger side. It has not been driven on salted roads(Michigan's answer to snow) Advertising decals on the back can be removed but save time when being approached by curious bystanders Keep in mind this is a 46 year old British built car and this listing is as accurate as possible but we are certain to miss some flaws.
