Coyote or Roadrunner fan, well, this 1973 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Custom is your truck. If not, please take a moment to look past the murals and realize that this is one rare 4x4. Jeep was building SUVs before it was cool, and even in the early 1970s, they'd perfected the recipe: V8 power, go-anywhere driveline, and chiseled good looks that need no excuses. The two-door variant probably competed with the Ford Bronco and Chevy Blazer in the 1970s, but for Jeep fans, the Wagoneer was a different animal altogether. The look remained in production for more than two decades in various forms, and that wasn't because it was ugly. Quite the contrary, in fact, as the dynamically sculpted bodywork, from the hood scoop to the arrow-shaped side trim, makes the Jeep stand out among a lot of really boxy competitors. As I said, the Wyle E. Coyote motif is cool if you're into the desert, Road Runners, or even just have a playful sense of humor, but also beyond that, the light blue paint is a great choice on a truck like this. It's certainly presentable, but it's not so perfect that you won't be able to take it out and drive it. The chrome and stainless trim, of which there is a considerable amount, is all in good shape, particularly the shiny chrome bumpers, and it includes a few custom tricks like the twin frenched antennas on the quarter panel, and a cool woodgrained roof deflector. It's quite inviting to step inside this Jeep, which offers blue and gray upholstery that works well with the medium blue exterior. It's not as extroverted, but rather comfortable and period-correct, with a few upgrades to make driving a pleasure. The big center console is obviously one such upgrade, offering a pair of cup holders and a lot of storage space that you wouldn't ordinarily get in a Jeep of this vintage. The original instrument panel offers big, bold round gauges with clear markings and a nice-looking woodgrain effect. Perhaps the biggest upgrade is the AM/FM/CD/DVD system in the center of the dash, which offers a 7-inch touch screen for convenience and speakers stashed throughout the truck which are obviously capable of delivering some serious sound pressure. The cargo area is very nicely finished with a wood floor and neatly padded sides, so nice that you'll think twice about actually using this to haul cargo. For moving the Jeep around on- or off-road, it uses a 360 cubic inch V8, which was AMC's workhorse. Reliable, torquey, and ready to play, it's been upgraded with an aluminum intake manifold, Holley 4-barrel carburetor, and a set of long-tube headers that do wonders for torque production. The under-hood area is nicely dressed, too, with body-colored accents, chrome valve covers, and lots of attention to detail. Obviously it's got power steering and brakes, which are probably mandatory on a rig this size, and its' backed by a GM TH400 3-speed automatic transmission, so you shouldn't have to worry about repairs being a challenge. Jeep's 4-wheel-drive system is legendary and you will note that there are no levers inside the truck or locking hubs outside, because it has full-time 4-wheel-drive, a genuine innovation long before it became common. A custom dual exhaust system has a cool V8 sound and the underside of the truck is tidy, if not detailed for show. Shiny aluminum wheels wear slightly oversized white-letter radials that give it an awesome stance. An unusual find for the Jeep fan, this cool Wagoneer offers 4x4 fun in a slightly more sophisticated package. More than just a decal kit and a lowered suspension, this is arguably the best Mustang ever made. And if you haven't driven one, you just don't know what you're missing. This is what Mustang fans have always dreamed of, a Mustang that needs no excuses and offers no apologies. Sure, it looks like most of its siblings, separated only by a deeper chin spoiler and those Shinoda-esque graphics along its flanks, but that's only scratching the surface of what this car is all about. The brilliant Kona Blue paint seems to glow like a sapphire, and with the price being what it was in 2012, the guys in the Ford paint shop seem to have spent a little extra time making it nearly perfect. Overall this car looks absolutely stunning. Of course, with only 1,123 original miles (not a typo), it shouldn't be surprising that it still looks showroom fresh, with crisp edges and a miles-deep finish that definitely gets noticed. The deeper chin spoiler is in excellent shape, unmarred by a steep driveway or parking curb, and it's unlikely that this car has ever seen rain. The Boss's interior got a decent makeover as well. Sure, it's still Mustang all the way, but things like the synthetic suede steering wheel and machine-turned aluminum trim make it stand out. This car carries the optional Recaro seats, which are supremely comfortable and supportive, and feature built-in provisions for race harnesses, so Ford obviously knew what we'd be doing with the new Boss. The Recaros were part of the TracKey package, which cost $1995 and also added a trick Torsen limited-slip differential. The gauges have the same cool electro-luminescent dials and retro-looking fonts as the other Mustangs and pretty much everything was standard, from A/C to a decent AM/FM/CD/iPod stereo system. The back seats have probably never been used, and the trunk is as new with factory linings and no stains, wrinkles, or dust. Wow! More power was only part of the package, but nobody's going to complain about the added 32 horsepower in the Boss, for a total of 444. There's a lot of expensive custom work in the engine, including CNC porting and bigger cams, plus race-spec bearings for high-RPM use. We doubt this particular engine has ever seen any track time, or even excursions to redline, but it's nice to know it's got the hardware to do it without issues. It's well-labeled with a bit BOSS 302 intake plenum and special blue valve covers, and everything is just the way the factory did it. There's also a slick-shifting 6-speed manual gearbox with well-chosen ratios, and a suspension that's designed to dance with you, not pummel the road into submission. The car moves like it weighs 1000 pounds less than it does, and the massive 4-piston Brembos with 14-inch rotors never seem to get tired. The suspension stays planted no matter how ham-fisted you are, and the massaged Coyote engine makes one heck of a great noise at full song. Special 19-inch wheels are painted black and carry 255/40/19 front and 285/35/19 rear Pirelli P-Zero rubber. Fully documented with original window sticker, dealer invoice, bill of sale, and manuals, this investment-grade Boss is sure to be a hot future collectable. Once hours of labor had blended that metal into excellent fit and finish, a rich layer of DuPont Magic Red base was sealed under Hot Hues Sandstorm stripes and a glossy clearcoat shell. And, in July of 2014, this clean pony debuted as a red-hot custom that easily trumps most of its pro-touring contemporaries. It's obvious that someone really sweated the details on this Mustang. And with its enhanced, Shelby-style profile, the car presents a professionally finished appearance that goes far beyond traditional descriptors. Up front, a Mustangs to Fear clip hangs custom, Samson-branded grille work between custom, 7-inch headlights, a louvered Mustangs to Fear hood and Eleanor-style driving lamps. Behind that hood, new glass, which includes 1-piece side windows, rides between new stainless wipers, bright stainless frames, shaved drip rails and custom-fabricated quarter louvers. At the sides of that glass, Mustangs to Fear rocker panels lay the groundwork for shaved fenders, racy "Flashback" call-outs, classic door handles and chrome, bullet-style mirrors. And out back, a Mustangs to Fear decklid hangs over sequential, Shelby-style taillights, Mustangs to Fear fender caps, a body-matched bumper and a custom valance that's complete with integrated exhaust ports. ENGINE Hoist this coupe's snug fitting hood and you'll find a 5.0 liter, DOHC 'mod motor' that twists 379 dyno-proven horsepower into 375 lb./ft. of pavement scorching torque! Officially named 'Coyote', and officially known as the backbone of the current Mustang GT, this state-of-the-art rocket utilizes forged internals, oil-cooled hypereutectic pistons, a long runner single scroll intake, variable valve timing and a direct-mount throttle body to create stout 11 to 1 compression all the way up to 7,000 RPM. At the top of the engine, a conical filter element feeds a Sandstorm-painted air tube. At the sides of the engine, clean shorty headers optimize breathing. At the front of the engine, a Vintage Air FrontRunner system spins an assortment of smooth ancillaries. And a beefy Ron Davis radiator, which is fitted with large electric puller fans, provides cooling. The svelte powerplant is extremely tidy, with "POWERED BY FORD" cam covers and a "5.0" branded cowl concealing most of its factory silver block. And the car's show-detailed engine bay is finished with thoughtful accessories like a body-matched nose filler, Lokar drive-by-wire throttle control, a Wilwood master cylinder and snazzy Ringbrothers hood supports. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The bottom of this awesome Mustang is just as impressive as its slick exterior and smooth powerplant. Behind that smooth powerplant, a tough Tremec T56 Magnum 6-speed spins a proven Chassisworks FAB9 rear end that's fitted with Strange 31-spline axles. The car's already competent suspension was completely swapped for a Rod & Custom Mustang II front clip and first class Chassisworks g-Link rear half. That 2-inch-dropped hardware was augmented with power rack-and-pinion steering, custom subframe connectors and high quality mini tubs. Braking is equally class, with Wilwood 4-piston calipers squeezing four drilled and slotted rotors. The aforementioned headers dump spent gases in to a custom, 2.5-inch exhaust system that backs an X-shaped crossover with polished Magnaflow mufflers. And this slick F100 is a complete 'smart buy' that'll fulfill your dreams faster than any custom you've spent years idealizing! BODYWORK/TRIM When the owner of this red-hot Effie began planning a cross-country road trip in a vintage pickup, he had every intention of sourcing a nice, reliable cruiser. And he did just that by purchasing this solid, Seafoam Green Ford. But, as happens with so many of these projects, hobby turned into obsession and minor restoration turned into an opportunity to create something incredible. And eventually, with the intent of taking the truck "to a level that no one else had accomplished", he kicked off a professional, high-dollar transformation. Since beginning its career as a show queen, this squeaky clean Ford has logged only selective road time, keeping its PPG 2-stage virtually flawless. Its custom graphics, which can easily be removed, are timeless and well done. And, naturally, fit and panel alignments remain about as close to perfect as such a thing can be. Since we're talking aesthetics, I'll go ahead and point out notable details resulting from both this Ford's original restoration and two subsequent years of fine-tuning. Up front, an original grille hangs a traditional "V8" emblem and modern tri-bar headlights above a chromed and tucked bumper. Behind that grille, a shaved, forward-tilt hood snugs at like-new glass, which incorporates a sliding window opposite small wipers and an electric cowl vent. At the sides of that hood, original front fenders lead stylish mirrors, traditional door handles, a power antenna and a nostalgic fuel filler. Below those fenders, Ford-branded running boards flow to a lighted Oak bed that's framed in stainless skid strips and a locking Gaylord tonneau. And at the back of the truck, a smoothed tailgate rides between a small, functional rearview camera, aftermarket taillights, and a second chromed and tucked bumper. ENGINE Prior to its aforementioned tuning, this fun loving Ford sported a '70s Lincoln motor. And while that mill certainly provided adequate power, 'adequate' just isn't up to "a level that no one else had accomplished". Tilt the trick hood and you'll find a fresh, 5.0 liter Ford Performance 'mod motor' that twists stout 11 to 1 compression into 420 horsepower and 390 lb./ft. of tire-melting torque! Officially named Coyote, and not far removed from the engine that powers the current Mustang GT, this state-of-the-art rocket features a forged crank, forged rods, hypereutectic pistons and all-aluminum, 4-valve construction. At the top of block, custom, TIG-welded stainless pipes air from remote Spectre filters to an 80mm, single-bore throttle body and tuned, composite intake manifold. At the sides of that intake, "POWERED BY FORD" cam covers bridge the gap between Ford Performance headers and a Mustang GT engine shroud. At the front of that shroud, a Ford serpentine system spins an assortment of smooth ancillaries. And in front of those ancillaries, a polished Artic Chill radiator, which rides between a custom support and large SPAL puller fans, provides plenty of cooling capacity. The svelte powerplant is extremely tidy, with sculpted plastic concealing most of its factory silver casting. And the truck's "V8" branded engine bay is detailed with thoughtful accessories like a Wilwood brake booster, F.A.S.T fuel components, custom inner fenders and an array of stainless hardware. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION As you can probably tell most of the truck's latest freshening, completed by Trophy Ride Customs of Wilmington, North Carolina, involved vastly improved mechanicals. Head bottom-side and you'll find a boxed and powder-coated frame that centers fresh, Satin Black floors on a roster of top-notch components. Behind the Coyote, a Simple Shift Controller utilizes a blue oval-supplied AODE 4-speed to twist a 9-inch axle around friendly, 3.25 gears. That proven drivetrain rolls on polished Heidts control arms, adjustable coil-over-shocks and a polished Heidts rear clip. That modern suspension is augmented with Heidts power rack-and-pinion steering. Braking is equally class, with Hydratech hydraulics controlling standard front discs and inboard rear discs. The aforementioned headers dump spent gases in to 3-inch pipes, which follow Mustang GT mufflers with polished Ford Racing tips. There's a 20-gallon fuel tank that, despite the truck's nostalgic filler, makes good use of a fender-mounted port. Detail items, like an 8-quart oil pan, a diamond plate battery box, a beefy transmission cooler and a Powermaster XS Torque starter, ensure function matches form. And power meets the pavement through painted steel wheels, which twist white walled 215/75R15 BF Goodrich Silvertown Radials around stainless trim rings and polished, "FORD" branded hubcaps. INTERIOR Inside the truck, a custom cockpit sits primed for either open road tripping or parking lot posing. Front and center, a smoothed and body-matched dash frames classy Auto Meter gauges in an engine-turned instrument panel. Opposite that dash, plush RV seats mix modern heaters with adjustable massagers. At the bottom of those seats, premium carpet anchors a small Lokar shifter behind a stylish Lokar accelerator pedal. At the edges of that carpet, electronically locked doors integrate perfectly placed "V8" emblems beneath chrome handles, power-operated windows and custom pulls that we're repurposed from a Mustang luggage rack. Opposite those doors, a 2-tier Escalade console stacks Vintage Air climate control under Kenwood Excelon audio. That audio projects CD, DVD, Navigation, Bluetooth and satellite radio through two JL Audio amps, an 8-inch subwoofer and numerous JL Audio speakers. And the driver stays connected to the road through a tilting Ford column that spins a sweet Billet Specialties banjo-style wheel. In reality, what's not to like about it, you get the old school looks that we all desire, with the modern conveniences and performance. While it may not have started out life as a real Boss 302, this 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302 tribute has been professionally restored and sits today as one of the nicest '69 fastbacks we have ever seen come through our doors. The overall look is incredible, has over 500 rear-wheel horsepower, and is setup to be able to handle any corner you can throw at it. The product of Speed INC. of Schaumburg, Illinois, this '69 Boss 302 Tribute caught the eye of Modified Mustangs and Fords Magazine when it was named their 2013 Car of the Year. The fastback seamlessly blends old school looks with modern internals thanks to the timeless styling of the '69 Mustang and the 5.0L Coyote modular crate engine that churns out over 500 rear-wheel horsepower. If you have been searching for a car that is as stylish as it is a performer, and capable of receiving national attention, here is the car of your dreams. Ford designers made sure every year of the first generation Mustang had plenty of visual sizzle. But it doesn't get much better than this Grabber Blue fastback's masterful combination of aggressive accents and well-placed trim. At the front of the car, a red white and blue mustang emblem hangs within the grille that hangs prominent high beams between traditional low beams, a thin bumper and crystal clear parking lamps. Behind that grille, a stylish hood scoop leads the eye past silver wipers to like-new glass and bright stainless trim. Down the sides, the body panel alignment is perfect and flowing through it is the boss 302 decal. As you make your way to the back you'll pass painted side mirrors, chrome door handles, and a moderate side scoop on the rear quarter. At the back of the car, a concave valence balances a second chrome bumper between familiar Mustang tail lights and the rear fuel filler. Pop the hood and you'll see how the build team eliminated the shock towers to make room for the 2011 Ford 5.0 Coyote modular crate engine that has been supercharged thanks to a Roush blower. Combine that with a custom cold air induction, and a SCT engine programmer and the results are a dyno verified 566 horsepower and 556 lb/ft of torque to the rear wheels. At the top of the block, Roush lettering rests on the massive supercharger that receives its air through a custom cold air intake that is mounted in the left front wheel-well. As you move down you'll see blue valve covers with the "Powered by Ford" lettering at the sides. In front of the engine, a custom aluminum radiator, with the help of an electric fan, is charged with keeping the 5.0 cool. The engine is powerful and can easily sit driver and passengers back in their seats, but as you will soon find out, this Stang is just as capable through the corners as it is in a straight line. With that type of power available at your disposal you have to have a transmission that can handle it, so the build team opted to bolt a Tremec TKO600 5-speed manual transmission to the Ford 5.0 Crate engine. From there power travels down the driveshaft to the Ford 9" rear-axle with a 3.90 rear gear. With the elimination of the shock towers the team decided to go with a Custom Heidts front subframe with adjustable coil-over shocks. In the rear, they went with a Heidts rear 4-link with two more additional coil-over shocks to house the Ford 9". It's also under here you'll see the 3" dual exhausts equipped with Flowmaster mufflers that end in front of the rear axle. Stopping power comes courtesy of a Late Model Mach 1 front and rear disc brakes. In front of those brakes you'll find 18" aluminum Magnum 500 style rims that have been wrapped in Nitto rubber. Pop the Mustang's doors and you'll find a comfortable black vinyl interior that'll make any Mustang fan feel right at home. All the soft parts, from the carpet to the headliner are new, and the bucket seats, provide plenty of support for spirited driving. From the captain's chair, a familiar Mustang dash features a full array of new Auto Meter Sport Comp II gauges. At the center of the cockpit, you'll find the controls for the 5-speed thanks to the Hurst shifter that sticks through the floor. At the sides of the cabin, crack-free door panels feature black vinyl with a mustang emblem and on the bottom of the doors have been painted to match the exterior. In front of the driver, a classy, Billet Specialties steering wheel provides a steady feel for the road. Overall the interior is a fantastic place to log miles from. Fully detailed and ready to rumble, this '68 Mustang is the beneficiary of an extensive, ground-up restoration that turned an everyday Ford into a feature worthy pro-tourer. From its Coyote V8 to its Chassisworks suspension, this fastback is the stuff dreams are made of. And if you're looking for an awesome muscle car that you can spend time riding in, instead of time working on, it's an excellent place to park your money! BODYWORK/TRIM Steal a glance at this Mustang's super slick body and you'll see what high quality craftsmanship that's performed by a dedicated group of individuals truly looks like. Those individuals knuckle down at a place called Samson Design in Marshall, Missouri. And, in what amounts to an epic, 6-figure build, they transformed what was a tired old mule into a show-stopping thoroughbred. Appropriately themed 'Flashback', this Ford's total reboot began with all new sheetmetal that included a pair of OEM front fenders. Once hours of labor had blended that metal into excellent fit and finish, a rich layer of DuPont Magic Red base was sealed under Hot Hues Sandstorm stripes and a glossy clearcoat shell. And, in July of 2014, this clean pony debuted as a red-hot custom that easily trumps most of its pro-touring contemporaries. It's obvious that someone really sweated the details on this Mustang. And with its enhanced, Shelby-style profile, the car presents a professionally finished appearance that goes far beyond traditional descriptors. Up front, a Mustangs to Fear clip hangs custom, Samson-branded grille work between custom, 7-inch headlights, a louvered Mustangs to Fear hood and Eleanor-style driving lamps. Behind that hood, new glass, which includes 1-piece side windows, rides between new stainless wipers, bright stainless frames, shaved drip rails and custom-fabricated quarter louvers. At the sides of that glass, Mustangs to Fear rocker panels lay the groundwork for shaved fenders, racy "Flashback" call-outs, classic door handles and chrome, bullet-style mirrors. And out back, a Mustangs to Fear decklid hangs over sequential, Shelby-style taillights, Mustangs to Fear fender caps, a body-matched bumper and a custom valance that's complete with integrated exhaust ports. ENGINE Hoist this coupe's snug fitting hood and you'll find a 5.0 liter, DOHC 'mod motor' that twists 379 dyno-proven horsepower into 375 lb./ft. of pavement scorching torque! Officially named 'Coyote', and officially known as the backbone of the current Mustang GT, this state-of-the-art rocket utilizes forged internals, oil-cooled hypereutectic pistons, a long runner single scroll intake, variable valve timing and a direct-mount throttle body to create stout 11 to 1 compression all the way up to 7,000 RPM. At the top of the engine, a conical filter element feeds a Sandstorm-painted air tube. At the sides of the engine, clean shorty headers optimize breathing. At the front of the engine, a Vintage Air FrontRunner system spins an assortment of smooth ancillaries. And a beefy Ron Davis radiator, which is fitted with large electric puller fans, provides cooling. The svelte powerplant is extremely tidy, with "POWERED BY FORD" cam covers and a "5.0" branded cowl concealing most of its factory silver block. And the car's show-detailed engine bay is finished with thoughtful accessories like a body-matched nose filler, Lokar drive-by-wire throttle control, a Wilwood master cylinder and snazzy Ringbrothers hood supports. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The bottom of this awesome Mustang is just as impressive as its slick exterior and smooth powerplant. Behind that smooth powerplant, a tough Tremec T56 Magnum 6-speed spins a proven Chassisworks FAB9 rear end that's fitted with Strange 31-spline axles. The car's already competent suspension was completely swapped for a Rod & Custom Mustang II front clip and first class Chassisworks g-Link rear half. That 2-inch-dropped hardware was augmented with power rack-and-pinion steering, custom subframe connectors and high quality mini tubs. Braking is equally class, with Wilwood 4-piston calipers squeezing four drilled and slotted rotors. The aforementioned headers dump spent gases in to a custom, 2.5-inch exhaust system that backs an X-shaped crossover with polished Magnaflow mufflers. Detail items, like an Aeromotive fuel pump, a billet fuel regulator and a custom, Sandstorm-painted fuel tank, flesh new floorpans that are protected with body-matched undercoating. And everything rolls on polished American Racing 427 Cobra wheels, which twist 245/45ZR17 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 315/35ZR17 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs. INTERIOR Pop the car's doors and you'll find an attractive, well-rounded interior that was installed by the pros at Samson Design. Front and center, power-operated, fourth generation GTO buckets sport high quality vinyl covers. Opposite those seats, an aluminum-trimmed dash founds Auto Meter Phantom gauges between quality Ron Francis wiring, a Pioneer touchscreen head unit and controls for the car's Vintage Air climate system. At the foot of that dash, a custom console centers a booted Tremec shifter between chrome power window switches, billet cupholders and a wide armrest. Below that console, rich carpet balances color-keyed floor mats beneath a Lokar emergency brake assembly and black, billet foot pedals. At the edge of that carpet, custom side panels hang billet handles beneath long armrests. In front of the driver, a sweet Billet Specialties steering wheel spins a flat-bottom rim around a tilting Ididit column. And behind the passengers, big Pioneer speakers front a power-operated trunk that's complete with clean vinyl panels, a color-keyed decklid and a capless fuel filler.
