R&R the carpets – the carpet is in good shape but 35+ years old now. Paint - There are some rust bubbles behind the front driver side wheels and low on the passenger door. The passenger side door has a scrape on the side that has been painted over (it’s hard to see but when you get close you can see it - see photos). The paint is checking in a few places. From 10-feet it looks good but on close inspection you can really see the age of the old lacquer finish.Mechanically the car is in good condition and pulls strong to 7,700. Still has the thermo muffler but the car sounds good at speed and you can hear the carbs sucking air when you get above 5000rpm. I have all the original parts off the car including the points, AC Compressor & Clutch, AC Condenser coil, fans, air pumps, center console vinyl, fuse blocks, etc. It’s all been stored inside since removed. Recent Compression Test Cyl all between 145 and 160 cold. 1979 Ferrari 308GTB Carbureted Nero/Red Leather Vin # 30025 Mileage: 35,354 at time of listing (still driving the car) 3 Owner Car (I am the 3rd owner) This car was bought from its second owner who had it for over 22 years. It was stored in a dry environment for that time, and was only driven a few thousand miles during his ownership. The vehicle includes all tools, jack, emergency light and books that came with the vehicle. I also have the original 14” Capagnolo Wheels with Michelin XWX Tires (set of 5). The 16” Wheels (set of 4, 7” in the front and 8” in the rear) in the photos were put on the vehicle for my personal driving and will be included in the sale. They were purchased new in June of 2014 with brand new Continental Extreme Contact Tires. Since my ownership and after the work had been done that is described below, it has been driven on weekends and to shows, and is one of the nicest running carbureted 308’s that I have encountered. The transmission shifts perfectly and sounds great. It currently has an Ansa Exhaust and the US Smog Air Pump has been removed. I do have the factory exhaust and air pump which are included with the car. Everything works on the car and it is a true pleasure to drive. When I bought the vehicle it had been driven only small amounts periodically, cared for and was completely intact. It clearly needed to be gone over mechanically, and in need of a few items cosmetically. I am not representing this car as a restored vehicle, but as an extremely nice vehicle with fresh mechanicals and improvements on the cosmetics. The paint was in very good condition, the car was repainted the original color the first year the previous owner had it, so the paint is 22 years old, and with several attempts at wet sanding and polishing, we came up with an extremely nice result that you see currently on the car. There are no checks or crow’s feet in the paint, it is very shiny and looks very good from all angles. 3 weeks ago, the car won a Platinum Award with the car at the Regional Ferrari Club Fall Festival in Florham Park, NJ and the car was judged by a current 308 owner. It also won a 3rd place award for the Concours DE ‘Elegance at Ramapo College earlier this summer. The photographer who took the pictures of the vehicle, and is very familiar with Ferrari’s, was very impressed with the vehicle when he was photographing it. If I were to pick on any items with the car, they would be: The red carpets are all original. They show very little wear, but do have a nice patina to them.The paint is 22 years old, but shines very nicely, but not represented as perfect.Very small screw hole on the panel in front of the fuse block down on the lower left side.Chrome around the climate control slides is a bit wavy. The 308 was introduced in 1975 at the Paris Auto Salon as a replacement to the Dino 246 and marked a shift in Ferrari's production from low volume models and coachbuilt cars to models with much wider market appeal. Their striking looks, good performance, and relative affordability made the 308 an outstanding success, with 12,004 examples sold over its 10-year production run. The 308 quickly became an icon, partly because of a 308 GTS that was the car of choice on a popular TV show, Magnum, P.I, a choice that inextricably linked the 308 to 1970s and '80s popular culture. For the body of this new line of V8 sports cars, Ferrari employed Pininfarina to design a new, contemporary coupe that followed Ferrari's new design language introduced with the 365BB in 1974. Leonardo Fioravanti, who had also designed the Dino and Daytona, created this new aesthetic of muscular curves and hard lines that defined Ferraris for the next two decades. Scaglietti originally produced these bodies in fiberglass, however production was switched to steel after just 712 examples. Like the Dino 246 GT, the engine is mounted transversely above the rear axle, offering quick and agile handling and excellent weight distribution. The DOHC dry-sump V8 provides a performance advantage over the Dino and produces the unmistakable sound of a Ferrari V8. The tube-frame chassis features independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, with power transferred to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission controlled through Ferrari's iconic gated-shifter. This 308 GTB, chassis 23031, was delivered to its original owner in 1977, who remained the custodian of car until 2013. Being a US-market model, 23031 features the emission control and safety systems required from the era. After leaving its original owner of 36 years, this 308 underwent comprehensive servicing and refreshing in preparation for the 2014 Cavallino Classic in Palm Beach, Florida. Along with mechanical servicing, the Cromadora wheels were repainted, the seats were recovered and the carpet was replaced, as well as other enhancements that ultimately led this car to win the coveted Platinum trophy at the Cavallino Classic – an award reserved for Ferraris scoring at least 95 points. The car is presented in remarkable condition with under 40,000 original miles and still retains its original Rosso Chiaro paint. This example comes complete with all of the original books, the original tool kit, jack, emergency light and original Ferrari keychain. In 1980, this Canadian native was sent to the Ferrari Distributor, Maranello Motors of Toronto to receive a rare dealer installed factory Le Mans / Sprint Package, which entailed performance wheels, tires, exhaust, pistons, cams, mag, carburetor and clutch components. At the same time, a repaint to its current Rosso exterior was performed. It was later purchased by a good friend of the first owner who always admired the car and would go on to own the Ferrari nearly its entire life. Always stowed away from inclement weather, the 308 received a complete and major engine rebuild in 2009 at nearly $30,000 CAD in invoices. During the rebuild, a new auxiliary plenum and carburetor was installed for ease of maintenance and performance, and although the original Webers were removed they are included with the sale. After the service was completed the car went into storage before we acquired. Today the car runs and drives with a feel of a strong motor and good handling although a service to the brakes and muffler is recommended.
