More Info ? E-mail or Call: 559-760-1143 Here's What Hemmings Said: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Just when we thought every Ford Anglia that made its way to the United States got turned into a drag racing machine, we came across this 1948 Anglia Fire truck Unlike most of the Crosley fire trucks we so often see, this one apparently was built by Dennis to serve a firefighting purpose. Whether it actually did and how exactly it made its way so far west remain unclear, but it still appears largely equipped to stomp out itty-bitty fires at a moment’s notice. The story – which is uncorroborated (we have never been able to get the Lancashire Fire Dept or Dennis Fire Engines to respond to our queries) – In 1948, Ford of England commissioned the Dennis Fire Engine Company to build 25 small fire trucks on Anglia chassis for use in enclosed areas such as warehouses. This one, the only known survivor of those 25, was originally delivered to the Lancashire Fire Brigade in Northern England. In the 1950’s, it was converted to LHD and sent to a Fire Department in Newfoundland. Somehow it got to Kansas and was purchased by a politician and occasionally driven in parades. He passed away in 1973, the last year this was registered in Kansas, and it languished in a Kansas City garage until discovered a few years ago. It needed cleaning and polishing and is otherwise as original. A dash and speedo which were missing were added (true mileage is unknown but it can’t be much based on the overall condition), an Optima battery, cleaned and coated the fuel tank, threw away all the old wiring; replaced the rusty steel diamond plate with new aluminum (probably not available in England in 1948) and put on new tires. It’s now titled in California, registered as a historic vehicle. It’s only driven on and off the trailer; smokes a bit (rings probably are stuck and need some WD40 added) and has a lot of play in the steering box (spare one included along with a lot of some other pieces). Seats need recovering maybe if you don’t like the authenticity. It has a small water tank under the bed but no pump. All the extinguishers and vintage nozzles are included. It’s registered as a ’48 but looks like the ’49 – ’53 body style; No idea why. I have owned the Anglia since 1998. I finished building the car in 2013. The Anglia has a clear title in my name dated 1998. This is an all metal car except the trunk lid which is fiberglass as I liked the French license plate look. Has a 1995 LT1 Chevy engine with a 4L60 transmission and an 8 inch ford rearend with a prostreet ladder bar kit installed, also with coilovers.. The engine and the transmission have never been broken apart since paired on the chevrolet assembly line. They have around 16k original miles on them. Somewhere around 300 Hp with Rewarder headers and Borla mufflers. The chassis is a 2x4 tubular custom built with a Fat Man phase II front suspension, Carrera coilovers. The engine, and transmission was installed by Fat Man Fabrication, Charlotte, NC. Along with a custom built 4 row aluminum radiator, and custom built gas tank. The interior is all leather installed by JB Auto Upholstery, Raleigh, NC The trunk is not finished as this is where the battery is mounted, along with gas tank access. The paint is a Sems, Electric Orange, USA body, Clayton, NC. Has 14 coats candy paint, 4 coats clear coat. Does have a small bubble on the roof. This is a Show Car/Driver and get 25 MPG highway. When I built this car I kept it very clean so it doesn’t get dated with time. I have won many best of show with this Anglia. It was featured on Dream Ridez on MAVTV in 2014 while entered in the East Coast Drag Time Hall of Fame Show filmed in Henderson, NC. Also pictured on Lokar Show 2013, Finished in Sweet 16 at the Capital Classics, Raleigh Convention Center. Also won first place at the NC State Fairgrounds, Dorton Arena, Carolina Collector Auto Fest. Please call with any questions before you bid. Please come by or have someone come by and inspect the car for you. I have done my best to describe the Anglia. I have included many good pictures from some of the events. It is impossible to list all the little items on the car. Also please read the payment section carefully. I will not vary off of what is explained there. Cashiers checks may have hold put on them by my bank. My bank will give me a letter of how long the hold will be. I will forward you a copy of the letter. The length of the hold will depends on the bank that it is sent from. Some smaller banks can take up to 10 business days. The car will not leave my home until my bank says the check has cleared. No exceptions. That is why I like wire transfers and cash. Cash is great if picking up in person. I explained this to try avoid any misunderstanding. I really would like to see this Anglia go to a true classic car lover.Vehicle for sale locally, have the right to end auction at any time, Shipping or pickup is the responsibility of the buyer, I can assist with getting vehicle loaded and prepared for shipment. Any questions please call. Thanks to all, good luck with your bidding, and have a great day, Ron 919-749-7232. No text please.Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.

This 1948 Ford Anglia is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. This all steel 48 Anglia was a project that took the current owner a total of 5 years to complete. It had been in his head for 10 years before that but when he found a guy parting out a 95 Formula with only 23 thousand miles, he knew there was going to be many sleepless nights ahead. He began by separating the body from the frame and taking everything down to bare metal. He took the frame and boxed it in for extra rigidity. He then stretched the rear by almost a foot giving it a much wider footprint allowing it to handle the corners better than any Anglia before it. Adding the medal rear fender flares was no easy task but with a little patience and a lot of sweat the chassis and body were complete and ready for the modern muscle to be transplanted. The LT1 with its totally modern electronic fuel injection gives this little beast the most responsive throttle response I have ever felt. The 700R4 gives you firm shifts while turning the Ford 9 inch rear end with its 4.56 gears this thing is set to get up and out of the way. The plush interior has been completely covered and I mean completely with leather that%26acirc;??s softer than a sheep\'s coat. Options include; AC, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Keyless Entry, Leather, Aluminum Wheels, Radial Tires, Seat Belts, and Tilt Steering. To view this 1948 Ford Anglia, including an HD video, go to our website www.gatewayclassiccars.com or call our Louisville Showroom at 812-294-1555 for more information.
