Whether it actually did and how exactly it made its way so far west remain unclear, but it still appears largely equipped to stomp out itty-bitty fires at a moment’s notice. The story – which is uncorroborated (we have never been able to get the Lancashire Fire Dept or Dennis Fire Engines to respond to our queries) – In 1948, Ford of England commissioned the Dennis Fire Engine Company to build 25 small fire trucks on Anglia chassis for use in enclosed areas such as warehouses. This one, the only known survivor of those 25, was originally delivered to the Lancashire Fire Brigade in Northern England. In the 1950’s, it was converted to LHD and sent to a Fire Department in Newfoundland. Somehow it got to Kansas and was purchased by a politician and occasionally driven in parades. He passed away in 1973, the last year this was registered in Kansas, and it languished in a Kansas City garage until discovered a few years ago. It needed cleaning and polishing and is otherwise as original. A dash and speedo which were missing were added (true mileage is unknown but it can’t be much based on the overall condition), an Optima battery, cleaned and coated the fuel tank, threw away all the old wiring; replaced the rusty steel diamond plate with new aluminum (probably not available in England in 1948) and put on new tires. It’s now titled in California, registered as a historic vehicle. It’s only driven on and off the trailer; smokes a bit (rings probably are stuck and need some WD40 added) and has a lot of play in the steering box (spare one included along with a lot of some other pieces). Seats need recovering maybe if you don’t like the authenticity. It has a small water tank under the bed but no pump. All the extinguishers and vintage nozzles are included. It’s registered as a ’48 but looks like the ’49 – ’53 body style; No idea why. 1973 VOLVO 1800 ES SPORTS WAGON California clear title. On non-op. Purchased from a estate collection of unique automobiles, in original condition. solid original floors. this vehicle was then treated to a cosmetic and mechanical restoration, as needed, to bring the car to 1- or 2+ condtion. Appreciating, driveable, enjoyable, classic,In 2014 several of these cars sold at auction for sums in excess of $80,000. Wayne Carini’s (Chasing Classic Cars TV show and SCM Magazine) December 2014 article in Forbes predicted $100,000 sales in 2015. the 1800es was produced in only a two year run, this was volvo’s flagship vehicle. It was quite expensive, even when new, and was more expensive than the Corvette of the same year. Technologically advanced, featuring bosch d-jetronic fuel injection and unique styling, the car soon realized a cult following, that has stayed with it through today. Styling influences from this very car are easily seen on the back of the new volvo c30 series cars, with it’s signature large rear backlight area. Most collector cars are impractical to utilize as daily drivers, however, the volvo P1800 is just the opposite. Many of these cars have several hundred thousand miles on them, as their owners found them reliable, economical, sporty, unique, practical and most of all fun to drive. these cars have a large cult following, and a large supply of o.e. and aftermarket performance parts on the marketplace.this car runs and drives as it should. certainly a pleasurable driving experience. freshly reupolstered, buttery soft chamois leather bucket seats, new carmel carpets and appointments. new headliner, a lovely dash, and the radio opening uncut, and unmolested. rare and striking factory teal blue/green exterior, (the pictures seem to show it slightly darker and more blue than you will find in person......on my computer anyway) with a contrasting rich chamois interior. the body is very straight, and the paint high quality two stage clearcoat, that has been colorsanded and rubbed to a beautiful deep glass-like finish. the car also features uber rare factory volvo ats two piece aluminum and chromed steel wheels. fresh rubber, performance cast valve cover, nicely detailed, strong running motor, factory manual transmission with original laycock electronic overdrive, made this car very freeway friendly and certainly, quite the technological marvel upon its introduction. polished stainless, and fresh chrome bring out the lovely look and condition of this vehicle. If you follow the collector car market, you know these are about the hottest cars in the entire marketplace. Picked as a prime car for appreciation recently by Wayne Carini, sports car marketplace, and forbes magazine (amongst others), the last four nice cars at auction each sold for in excess of $80k! a deal at the offering price, especially when you take into consideration the lack of auction commissions. feel free to inspect the car prior to auction completion, in fact i strongly encourage this. we can assist with your worldwide shipping efforts. $500 deposit due within 24 hours of auction end, and is non-refundable. full payment due within 72 hours of completion of auction. no post auction inspections or joy rides.
